I've been getting messages for the past few weeks from people not being able to stay on the old version of AFF. It usually goes like:

"Stop trying to make people use the new layout! I click on something in the old layout and it makes me go to the new layout! Stop F&*#ING ruining Asianfanfics!"

Or something like that. I try to explain that it's probably a bug somewhere because I don't touch the old layout anymore but that I can't reproduce it so "could you please let me know what browser or device you're using?". Then nothing. No reply. No one's ever been able to articulate to me how I can reproduce this issue so I can fix it because they're too mad thinking I'm doing it on purpose.

Anyway, I've never been able to replicate this behavior. I've had other people check out the old version of AFF and they've all said it works fine for them as well. I realized today that I might be forgetting about my good friend Opera Mini again since neither I nor anyone I know uses it. Opera Mini is special because Opera does extra stuff behind the scenes when loading its pages and it really messes with the AFF code (it's the reason why you never see icons on AFF in Opera Mini and see Chinese characters instead for whatever reason). My guess is that it's the Opera Mini users having this issue so I made some changes and hopefully it fixes the problems people are having with staying on the old AFF layout.

I found other Opera Mini tweaks while researching this problem and the page loads should be even faster than before today. If you're reading this and using anything other than Opera Mini though, please don't take that to mean to start using Opera Mini unless you like having weird issues like this come up!

I also re-designed the way alerts are displayed on the Opera Mini theme to look more like the way it was on the old AFF layout so that it's more noticeable. The old alert dropdown on the Opera Mini theme just wasn't working out.
