Hyejin is a calm and confident person. She makes her decisions with her brain and she's really reasonable and the type of girl that likes to be independent. She likes keeping things neat and clean and she's very organized herself. She isn't a person who does much aegyo and uses too much expressions and she's usually calm about everything but her movements have a certain gracefulness so everything she does ends up looking elegant and Hyejin's charisma is hard to resist. Some antis say that she looks stuck-up or boring which isn't the case at all. Hyejin is actually good at befriending people so others always assume she has a confident ‚leading/alpha'-personality. She gets along well with most people and seems very friendly and charismatic as long she feels happy but once she's moody she'll get mean and starts a fight easily. If she's annoyed and has a bad day she also has kind of an attitude and complains like a diva without an end.
Hyejin doesn't really talk much and is pretty quiet most of the time. If she does, she is often sarcastic so you never know if she's being honest or if she's mocking you. She doesn't have any sense of humor at all besides her irony but she's pretty intellectual and knows what to say in certain situations so she's still sociable. Her sentences are short but whenever she's talking without being asked it's something meaningful. In interviews where she has to say something about herself and the company she can be overly honest and wants to state her opinion and facts openly. She is a stubborn person and doesn't get intimidated easily. She's also determined and a bit of a feminist so she hates it when women are portrayed as incapable and helpless until a prince in shining armor comes along. She doesn't just take anyones orders without a question and if she's unhappy with something she definitely confronts the other person. She has a pretty bad temper and doesn't like it if someone questions her opinion or lifestyle since she's hot-headed and doesn't take jokes about her lightly. She has a bad temper - Hyejin doesn't have much patience and she's also ready to get into fights if someone is provocing her. While she's usually trying to be friendly she also takes pride in herself and she isn't forgiving.
She is strict with herself and as much as she hates small talk, she's always trying to be respectful and uses honourifics with everybody. She encourages others and makes sure her friends and family are well but she doesn't really care about people who aren't close to her. To strangers she usually gives of a clever but distant impression. She doesn‘t like people that invade her privaticy and she doesn't meddle in her friends business as well. Around friends she isn't good with showing or helping someone with their feelings, either. Hyejin wishes she'd be more caring and warm but since she herself is always thinking forward and logically she doesn't know what to say or to do in an emotional moment without sounding cheesy. To strangers she usually gives of a clever but cold and distant impression.
Hyejin was raised in Daegu, South Korea. She has two loving and supporting parents and an older brother whom she's also close to. Her family was your average middle-class family, her father was and accountant while her mother was a nurse. There is nothing really special or outstanding about her childhood - she was a bubbly kid that would talk a lot and make pranks which gave her mom and the other kindergardener as well as teachers a headache. Inhyo has an younger brother whom she was always close with.
Because she was constantly in the hospital her brother also often took care of her and helped raising her. During elementary school her mother didn't want to leave her alone at home whenever she and her father were at work so she always had to accompany her brother to his guitar lessons and wait quietly in a corner of his tuition room. Hyejin could barely sit still for such a long time and first she was really bored but after a while it grew on her and she liked listening to her brother. He taught her the difference between the notes and chords and also tried to teach her guitar but she wasn't that interested because it made her fingertips hurt. However, she often sang along and she got really interested in music. She started daydreaming about being a singer.
She was decent but not outstandingly good at school and she had a small but close circle of friends. When she was young, Hyejin loved singing but she wasn't much into idols and she preffered Jazz or Blues above generetic pop music so spend most of her free time playing basketball and tennis. That all changed when she was eleven years old and won tickets for a concert. First she didn't even wanted to go since she didn't like all that hype about idols but in the end she went nevertheless. And she was amazed by the many idols singing and dancing to the catchy pop songs in these awesome oufits under the bright lights of the stage. After that she was so impressed that she didn't want to be only a singer but she wanted to be an idol, too.
Since she was pretty, she was casted for three CFs pre-debut, without even being under an agency. She was invited to audition for Entertainment Companies by scouts on the streets but her parents always rejected them because they felt like their daughter was too young for that. However, Hyejin could persuade them later so that she was at least allowed to shoot a few CF's. However, her parents still opposed her signing a contract with a company as long as she wasn't seventeen yet. Hyejin practiced her vocals so she could reach higher notes and she saw You Tube videos to learn how not to strain her voice and use her higher register properly. With seventeen she auditioned for Paradox Entertainment and got accepted.

Onew is a person that cares greatly about everyone around him and tries to meet everyone's expectations. He's extremely well-mannered, very reliable and can take responsibility for his and his bandmates' actions. Onew is constantly smiling because he doesn't want to worry or burden someone with his problems. He is good at varierity and often makes fun of himself. Because his clumsy- and dorkiness he comes off as the friendly boy next door and even though his jokes often aren't funny others often view him as symphatic.
Onew is pretty smart and hardworking. Predebut he used to be a bit chubby so he waked up, went swimming, went to school, afterwards to SM's training for a few hours, jumped 500 times with a rope to lose weight, studied for school and had a part time job. However, Onew is humble, hasn't that high self esteem and thinks of him as ordinary. He is generally very thoughtful. Jonghyun once described that he has a very fragile heart and tends to bottle up problems. He isn't too outgoing and tends to be a bit shy around girls.
He's like the total opposite of her and it's even weird that they get along so well with each other. Well, they didn't get along well in the beginning because Hyejin showed her usual calm - and unintended distant - behavior towards him. Then he did something she really didn't expect - he apologized to her for whatever behavior he has done because he didn't intend to upset her and hopes that she could forgive him and treat him less coldly. First Hyejin was staring dumbfounded before she suddenly started laughing. She explained that this was her usual self. However, since that day she was a lot more friendly around him and they got closer. Hyejin isn't someone who gives her friendship and trust away easily, so she refuses to keep thinking of him as a friend, even though he actually is. He's usually the one who starts the conversation and does the talking while she just listens and makes a remark from times to time. Because she is known for her sharp words and he's SHINee's soft and gentle leader they get called oil and water but their friendship gets stronger each day. Soon Hyejin starts to ask herself, if it's really only friendship she is feeling for him...
