personality :
Her neat-freak and stubborn-perfectionist traits complement one another really well. Although they are the negative side of her, but there are times that Ying sees it as an advantage. If you were to step into her room back at the Lius household, you would thought that the maids at the house do extra work in the girl's bedroom. But in truth, Ying keeps it clean all by herself. She could never see a book out of place, a mess on the bed, or even cobwebs occupying any spaces. Moreover, she's the kind of perfectionist that does not like to see any flaw when it comes to her things. Books are arranged alphabetically, dolls are arranged according to height and even her clothes are placed with the proper colour-coordination. Not only her belongings, but also in her studies and sports. Despite the difficulty for her to cope with mathematic-involving subjects, Ying tries hard to understand each and everything, which makes her put the twice amount of effort compared to normal students. Ying hates it when she gets anything wrong and would even insult herself if she thinks that the mistake is too careless for her perfectionist personality. 

At the same time, Ying is also a selfless girl. Some might think that this is a good thing, but in the end, it would only lead to self-destruct. When someone wants something that you've called dibbs for, of course you would want it and there's no compromise since other people should respect your choice. But, for Ying, she would always let others have whatever they want from her and she would never think twice about it - with a limit, that is. When an assignment is given and people find it too difficult for them to do, they would always turn to Ying. In the end, the girl would go through all the trouble just to save a friend's work and she would never be appreciated. Ying doesn't mind, as long as she get to make her friends smile and happy - which is, in a way, very wrong, but that's just who she is and I'm using too much commas for a sentence.  Ying would also solve a friend's problem and in the end getting too involved until at some point, people would blame her and she takes all the blame for something she never did. Looking on the bright side, Ying is definitely a carefree person. 

Although she's not a child anymore, but there are times when her mind-set is of a carefree child. She does not give much thought on things if they're minor problems to her and does not worry on things too much. She thinks that being worried would make a person smile lesser, and when a person smiles lesser, it means that they are all grown up and there would be too much things to worry about after that. Ying prefers to live her life in the moment and go with the flow. Ying is also the kind of person who does not get angry over something so easily. Even if people pull prank on her, she would just laugh it off and congratulate the person for his or her ability to come up with something so good. She is even considered to be a little innocent when it comes to pranks. Other than that, it is considered to be very good to have a good-temper personality since doing sports not only requires one's physical ability, but also mental strength. Ying is also quite the athletic person herself ever since she was a little girl. Following her elder brother around and having genuine interest in doing sports really helped her improve her skills. 

Ying also holds a funny trait in which she has the ability to come up with silly puns from the words her friends were saying. Her quirky comments and joking comebacks are somewhat liked by many people. Being the social butterfly she is, Ying easily befriends people since she wouls always try to initiate conversations first. 

background :
Born into a wealthy family, Ying inherits her mom's fair Mongolian skin and her father's Chinese looks. It is quite a surprise for her parents when Ying got so involved into sports even at a young age since the girl barely mastered her walking skill before she turned 3. Added with the fact that both her parents are of no athletic roots, the Liu siblings indeed shocked their parents. The first ever sport that really got Ying's eyes twinkling and laughing so happily was tennis. She followed her brother and his friends one day to their weekly outing at the local tennis club in which she insisted on joining. After much whining and pleading, Ying succeeded in persuading one of her brother's friends and finally she get to play with her brother and his friends. Of course they had quite a laugh and it caught the attention of the Head Coach at the sports club. The coach then contacted and convinced the Liu siblings' parents and joined the club's tennis lessons. Even at a young age, Ying is praised for her excellent hand-eye coordination. The siblings were indeed very talented when, fortunately, a foreign coach came to their sports club and saw the two of them on court.

When Ying turned 9, she and her brother flew over to Florida to train at the famous tennis academy; Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy. Ying's mom followed the two of them while her dad just fly over to Florida for important occasions or during their holidays. Along the way, Ying and her brother joined local junior elite tournaments, won quite numerous times and even made a name for themselves. Ying, her brother and mom then moved back to Beijing when she turned 14 since her dad got into an accident. Mr Liu survived the accident, and wanted to send the siblings back to Florida to continue on with their training, but it was Ying herself who decided that she and her brother should stay closer to home since her father just got back from hospital. With their outstanding resumes – with professional recommendations from Nick Bollettieri himself – the siblings were accepted into the Young Athletics Academy and trained there ever since. * Being at the Young Athletics Academy, Ying and her brother are required to join both summer and winter sports. She remembered how much fun she and the other players back in Florida had when winter came. She learned skating for the very first time there with the help of her tennis mates and they even made her play ice hockey. Ying enjoys being a team-player and ever since then, she would play ico hockey or tag team when winter hit Florida. Having enrolled into Young Athletics Academy, Ying and her brother got to imrpove on their skills in not just tennis but also ice hockey.

Ying's style is quite influenced with her mother's fashion sense. Casually, Ying could go bold and simple with short jeans, plaid shirt, a beanie and some light make up plus knee-cut sneakers or fun and girlish with skirts and heels with a little make up + hairdo. For formal occasions, parties or school dances – if there are any – Ying either goes wild with her punk-rock choice or tone it down with dresses. Her outfit choices while working out or training are quite similar and of course, she prefers Adidas stuff though she doesn't understand why Nike stuff are over-flowing in her closet. During matches, Ying makes sure she puts on comfy outfits and most of the time, she opts for dresses + skirts.

Father | Liu Ya Jun | 54 | Business entrepeneur | Although Mr Liu is a strict and straight-forward man at work, he's a caring and loving dad at home. Between her parents, Ying is closer to her dad compared to her mom. While Ying, her brother and mother were away in Florida, she missed her dad very dearly and calls him almost everyday. Even in the beginning, she cried quiet a few times since she missed her dad that he had to take some time off from work just to go to Florida to visit her. You could say that her dad pampers his princess a lot and even her own mother would sometimes.

Mother | Yisu Narantuuya @ Narantuuya Liu | 49 | Fashion designer | Ying is actually more like her mom compared to her dad. She is a stubborn-perfectionist and carefree person just like her mom. Ying and her mother shares a lot of skinship and would hug her mom even at random times. They're always caught shopping in the weekends and her mom gives Ying great fashion tips. Ying also enjoys following her mom to fashion shows when she gets the rare opportunity to do so and she even get to model her mom's brand at times.

Brother | Liu Ji Meng @ Y. Mönkhbat | 20 | Student; Young Athletics Academy | Meng and Ying are really close as brothers and sisters. He is the person that Ying depended on when they were together at NBTA. Ever since she was a little girl, Ying had always followed Meng around and he would always be more that willing to take her since he really loves having Ying around. The two also share quite a huge amount of skinship since they both inherited it from their mom. Meng is also very protective of her and if there happens to be any guy who tries to flirt or get too close to Ying, he would always be there to keep alook-out and sometimes, just warn the guys off. It got Ying angry at times, but she knew that her brother is just doing it for her.

Sally Mae Siso (OC) | 17 | Student/Tennis | They are considered as the 'Asian William Sisters' at the Academy. Sally; nicknamed EmEm, is the first person to befriend Ying and Meng when they first enrolled in the Academy. By luck, EmEm is in same classes as Ying and they even majored in the similar sports. EmEm is an excellent tennis player who came all the way from Phillipines and she is very talented in football as well. Ying and EmEm are always together and they hang out with her brother and Tao during lunch. EmEm is somewhat of a tomboy and Ying would always force her friend to put on girly clothes. Ying also found out the secret about EmEm liking her brother and she find it cute if her best friend could be together with Meng since EmEm is sich a nice girl despite the tomboyish manner.

Tao was picked at when he didn't really excel during Winter Sports practice. Ying pitied him since he's such a nice guy, despite being whiny at times, and asked for her brother's help to back him up. Tao was really thankful and ever since then Ying would always hang out with Tao during lunch and study their Koreans together. Tao also share the same passion for fashion like Ying and they really love shopping in the weekends, dragging a bored Meng and a reluctant EmEm with them.

​Behaviour in class : You know, those students who are just so nerdy that they have to answer every single thing the teachers ask? Yup, Ying is halfway there. She anticipates in class well, mostly to voice out suggestions and long answers. But when it comes to solving mathematical questions, Ying prefers to just sit back and let the others settle the questions. Although her answers are correct, but she gets like super-nervous around numbers. There are times when Ying would skip a class with EmEm and get scolded by Meng if he finds out, and there was even one time when she got a detention for sleeping in class. 

Favourite subject : Reading + memorizing subjects; preferably Biology

Worst subject : Mathematical crap; obviously Calculus/Trigonometry

As a stranger, one would view Peniel as a wacky or strange person. He is eccentric at times and has his own odd ways when it comes to talking or joking or even when fooling around with his friends. Another thing about him is that he's either full-on wacky or death quiet. Some would pinpoint him as shy, but that is not the case when you finally get to know him personally. Peniel is also a soft-spoken person, so that is why people think he's either too quiet or shy. There are times when his friends would get quite frustrated with him since he's a slow talker and it requires quite some time for them to wait for him to finish a sentence. But, all-in-all, he's overly cute and sweet most of the time, and he doesn't even have to use any aegyo to get what he wants. Peniel is also a funny guy, but as mentioned earlier, he has his own peculiar ways of being funy and that's just his charm perhaps. He also appears to be quite the innocent type according to his friends which makes him an easy target for pranks; similar to Ying

how they meet :
It was during one of the four friends' usual outing that Ying came across Peniel. In all honesty, neither Peniel nor Ying knew each other. It was a dare by Peniel's friends that he should pair up with a stranger for the mini game organized at the mall. She was on her way back to the bookshop from the toilet when suddenly, Peniel stopped her and asked for her help. Both being open-minded about things, plus Ying being a selfless girl who would help even a drowning fly, she agreed to help Peniel and together they had to go through couple games since it was February which meant a lot of skinship. Surprisingly, these two are quite good and they seemed very close when in fact they just met for the first time. Tao called her since she was missing and told him that she was joining a mini game on the other side of the mall. They both actually planned EmEm and Meng to go on an impromptu date, so the two of them are stuck together. Knowing Meng all too well, Tao didn't call Meng and just went off to watch find Ying.

By the time Tao got to her, the mini game already ended. Ying and Peniel both won second placing since they failed to answer detailed questions about each other. The two of them won a couple necklace and they shared the winning prize. In the end, Ying and Peniel didn't even know each other's names and Tao was really surprised by the fact that his friend is actually a smart-perfectionist but failed to get a guy's name. In the end, Ying just gave Tao a description of Peniel that he could hardly imagine since his eyes caught on a pair of gorgeous Gucci shoes. Ying even thought that she might have a tiny bit crush on the stranger.  

plot story :
A few weeks after the mini game at the mall, fate brought the two back together when they were assigned as 'Mentors' with a group of students. They were called upon to help students who need to improve on their English. Meng was there too with Ying and Peniel was alone without any of his friends. They were separated into two smaller groups and in the end, Ying was paired up with a certain 'Peniel Shin' and Meng was quite unhappy about it. When they finally meet face to face, they both called out each other's Disney character names; Ying as Jasmine and Peniel as Aladdin. They just stood there, staring at each other and unconciously held the couple necklace they shared. In the end, they burst out laughing and Meng was even more annoyed with their sudden interaction and closeness. Ever since that, they worked closely together to help students with their English and spent some time organizing little projects for their mentoring duty. Peniel also secretly has a crush on Ying when they met each other for the first time but the two of them never knew that the feeling was mutual.

They kept in touch with each other even after the mentoring program ended and Meng was annoyed, EmEm was clearly on her brother's side, while Tao was putting on images of their relationship in her head. They supported one another during tournaments and they even tried to play each other's sports, which they both failed miserably. The two of them kept on being friends, a really close one at that, and neither of them would confess. Peniel finally have the courage to confess to her by singing in public and confessed to her right before the Winter Olympics began. She then told him that she won't give him her answer unless he wins his first gold medal. After winning a gold medal and Ying heard of the news from him, she accepted him when she was interviewed.

The ulzzang I use, she might be a little too fair-skinned for a tennis player. I find that it's quite the task to actually find sporty-style ulzzang, plus dark skinned ones. Or it's just that I really at ulzzang hunting.
