Not many people take the time to observe her but when they do they'll be shocked to find that the Ice Princess had feelings. And maybe it is because she lives in a life where nothing is really cherished that she holds onto memories longer and gets soft at the most unusual things like the fall of snow, the pitter patter of rain on the glass, etc. For Hwa Young, her childhood holds her happiness and she'll mostly be in a daze, reminiscing her younger days. But she'll never reveal this side to anyone...or will she? Childhood (Birth-12) On April 3rd, 1993, Kim Min Hee (김 민 휘), a nurse at a general hospital in Seoul, gave birth to a baby girl and named her Hwa Young (means "beautiful"). Kim Min Hee was the wife of Choi Dong Hyun (최 동 현), a general manager in a Manufacturing Company. She and her husband had two children in the family, with Hwa Young being the youngest child. As a child, Hwa Young had tons of laughter and memories. She would play pranks on her older brother, Choi Si Won (최 시 원), with her childhood friend, Lee Sung Yeol (이 성 열). She would play in the kitchen with her mother. She would run around in the garden with her brother. She would always ask her father to lift her up and twirl her around the room. And she would cherish these memories forever. This was before Hwa Young lost her smile and gained a mask. Teens (12-18) When Hwa Young turned twelve, everything changed. Choi Dong Hyun had struck the jackpot. As the loyal general manager of the Manufacturing Company, his boss had gifted him the company on his dying bed, putting his faith in Dong Hyun as he breathed his last breath. Suddenly, the small Manufacturing Company grew bigger and bigger. And by the time, Hwa Young was fourteen, she was attending parties for the upper class with her family. They moved into a mansion, they owned more than ten cars in their garage, they wore branded clothes, they had servants in every corner of the house, and they had the best education. Hwa Young in particular was home-schooled. But the family wasn't happy. Min Hee had to quit her nursing job at the hospital because it was humiliating for a multimillionaire's wife to be working at a lowly hospital. Si Won went through a lot of pressure and training from Dong Hyun because he needed a heir for the company. And Hwa Young was invisible to her father except for those lavish parties she had to attend. No longer can they act recklessly or play around. At the age of twelve, Hwa Young learnt how to conceal her real personality and face the day with a cold mask. And because of this, she can't distinguish between the real her and her other personalities. That and the fact that she no longer knew how to express herself in front of others as she trained herself to be obedient to her father not wanting to cause trouble for him that would alert the media. She also moved around from America to China to Korea because of her father's business and the fact that he also bought multiple vacation homes in those areas. She has lived in China with Si Won for four years (14-18) and studied there in an international school. Adulthood (19-Current Age) It became worse when she turned nineteen. Si Won was working in the office with his father and countless of times, he was set up in an arranged marriage. Thankfully, Si Won always managed to close the deal without getting married in the process. Hwa Young no longer had an opinion in the house. She just quietly went through her life and obeyed her father's wishes. Her father got so caught up at work that her mother was neglected and soon enough, she had died of brain cancer. Where was Dong Hyun in all of this? Well, he was in the Bahamas, closing a deal when he heard the news that Min Hee had passed. Apparently, she told no one of her condition and suffered alone. After she graduated, she was shipped off into a air-conditioned cubicle where she organized the finances of the company and made sure they weren't bankrupt. SO YOU'RE A MAFIASO?
It started when Hwa Young noticed Si Won acting rather suspicious. She was eighteen when she confronted Si Won who denied her accusation. Her suspicions died for a little while but that didn't stop her from being skeptical. It wasn't until she found some files on Si Won's computer with confusing codes that she had never seen before. After quickly taking them down, she started her research and found out that they were hacker codes. Wondering what would Si Won be doing with hacker codes, she confronted him once more, this time not letting him off so easily. Remember how I said it was rumored that Hwa Young could make a person cry by being with him or her alone in one room. Well...guess where it started from... After bawling his eyes out in fear in front of an uncaring Hwa Young (who rolled her eyes at what a baby he was), he confessed that he was working in the mafia as a hacker. When asked why, he replied that he had always wanted to major in computer science but because he had to become the heir of the company, father wouldn't allow it. So in a way, this is an escape for him. Yes, it is dangerous but he loved the risk and the challenge of trying to crack the codes. He pleaded her not to tell father so she agreed on one condition.
Allow her to join the mafia or else. Cue more bawling and eye rolling. General Job/Life in Mafia As an extortionist, she uses her y body and doll-like looks to snag information out of her targets. She was a cold femme fatale but somehow, the boss of the mafia (Yunho, am I right?) loved to torture her. After joining, she got to know the members and the word that got around was that she had no sense of humor. She knew he just wanted to torture her. She knew he enjoyed watching her eye twitch in annoyance and huff in frustration. Because all of her targets that she was assigned to had a great sense of humor and loved to crack jokes every 0.000000000002 seconds. And there was Hwa Young sitting there awkwardly with a deep frown on her face and a crease on her forehead. She especially felt like strangling the person who cracked a joke about how those crease lines will stay if she keeps frowning like that. Well, she says, if Yunho keeps on making a joke about my sense of humor which is as empty as space, then maybe these lines will really stick on my forehead. She also had a weird way of disposing of people. Despite her cold facade and passiveness, she has a very short fuse. And so, even though the hitman hasn't arrived yet...she starts stabbing the target over and over again, repeating each and every single joke he/she made to her with every stab. Once the hitman arrives, the body is mangled and Hwa Young will hold the knife and say "Don't ing look at me like that. Try being in my ing stilettos and suffer through all the ing corny jokes he made. I ing dare you to say you will ing survive." * Yeah, she's not very fond of Yunho after what he put her through. Training She was evaluated for her skills and turns out, she failed all the subjects except for throwing knives. When she finished her evals, Si Won was excited to know how good his sister was. ("So did you pass all the subjects? Were they stunned by your ability to fire a gun? How about your stamina? Or maybe your endurance?" "I failed." "...What?") He likes to whine a lot to her and does aegyo only when he wants something or when he wants to have bubble tea and Lu Han is too busy to join him.

She's the only one who has seen Hwa Young with her walls down.

→ Both of them work very well together. And sometimes, they will share a mission and have to act as a couple which they do quite believably. Baek Hyun is like her go to guy for advice even though she tries not to go to him as much since she doesn't want him to think she's weak. But Baek Hyun doesn't mind nor does he care. He just listens and advise.

They have a strictly business relationship and Hwa Young is considering promoting Jin Ri as long as she doesn't catch her and that Public Relations guy, what's his name, having some office fling. But overall, she thinks that Jin Ri is a nice and friendly girl.

→ They are close since they are childhood friends but not as close as Tae Yeon and Hwa Young. Maybe it's because he's a man. But he's Hwa Young's best manfriend so... He is also an informant for Hwa Young. Whenever she needs information on her target, she'll contact him and in a few hours, she'll have her information. He is also the best friend of L. Oh, and he isn't exactly part of the mafia. He's just one of Hwa Young's internal and external connections.

→ He is much like the male Choi Hwa Young. Their personalities almost match. Si Won asked him to specifically watch over her since as the son of a rich tycoon, most of the parties that she goes to he does too. He is the best friend of Sung Yeol. Hwa Young feels slightly assured if she sees L at the party because she knows that the party is covered with his men that will let her slip away unnoticed with his order. He also has a small crush on her but it's nothing much. And he isn't part of the mafia but his father has some sort of a hand in it though.

→ They have some sort of friends with benefits affair. It's not based on love though. Lu Han can be possessive over her because he only wants her for him. But overall, he doesn't really care (like flirting, seducing, or kissing) except for her having affairs with other men then yeah, he'll be mad (like the and other details I shall spare your mind of). He's another one who claims that he is manly but Hwa Young shoots him down saying that he looks too much like a girl, leaving the rest of EXO to laugh at his face. They only go to each other when they have needs or are frustrated, sad, or mad. But they do have some sort of connection like they'll get worried over each other if one of them is hurt. But nothing too romantic.
how you two met:
Lu Han took an interest to her when she was introduced at an induction ceremony. After a few weeks of trying to get to know her, they were friends. The friends with benefits thing happened when both were drunk from a party. Turns out they enjoyed it, had a mutual agreement, and voila! They became friends with benefits.
