Why are there so many EXO fanfics?

Within two months of last year, there was 2000 EXO fanfics. But what have they done in a year apart from travel a lot, be interviewed and perform the same few songs in a year. What I want to know from AFF writers is:

  • Why do you write about EXO?
  • Do you write about any other fandom other than EXO by any chance?
  • Why do you believe they are so popular to write about?
  • Do you think it's because they are a new generation of idols bringing in new AFF writers?

Anything extra you comment about would be nice. I remember when DBSK, SHINee and . Now it's mostly B.A.P, EXO and Infinite along with SHINee. Hope you guys can comment with your opinion, I'd appreciate it! ^__^

1. Well, they really match a story concept for me
2. Yes, I once wrote about FT Island
3. First of all, Kai. And they are really good, there are any EXOtics around the world since debut, so yeah, its nice to write about them for me
4. Yes, they are nice to write about since they have many~ personalities For me, as an EXOtic, I want to welcome them safely and kindly into the K-POP world, cause since debut, they already have enemies T.T

"Yeah there definitely has been a lot more SNSD fics compared to when I started reading Kpop fanfics. SHINee are still pretty high after all this time but then again it must be popularity. I want to know how people like a group who barely have much material or on shows for people to see their personality much!"

can i answer this? (sorry for stalking i swear i didn't)

we get introduced to their initial personalities in interviews and variety shows. maybe that's why writers like to write about them. it leaves more space to expand their personalities, we can distort them as much as possible. it leaves room for more imagination.

Count me in too,I don't actually know or understand why there are SO many fanfics about them. All of SHINee members are mostly on the top 30 popular tags. I remember Taemin was alot. His fanfics were more than SNSD but nowadays,Taemin is behind comedy and romance and SNSD. Which I think is an improvement for SNSD ans Taemin has the most fanfics for individual.

1. Why do you write about EXO?
I write for EXO because they have several members that has different personalities from each other, so if I have one idea it's likely that one of the characterization I had in mind would probably fit with one of the EXO members. Also, EXO was the first group that I joined fandom in so yeah. /shrugs

2. Do you write about any other fandom other than EXO by any chance?
Yes I do. I write for B.A.P and SHINee, but I've written some about Girls' Generation (drabbles) and I'm planning to write a Lee Hi fic.

3. Why do you believe they are so popular to write about?
Their popularity in the international fandom. SM really worked hard to promote them and you maybe aren't a fan of EXO but you would recognize like 'oh that guy is a member from EXO'. SM also made their debut memorable, and because of the 12 members have different personalities from each other, so you can always imagine any story fitting with one of the members.

The pairings contribute too. There's 66 pairings in total. You can have a lot of ideas with it so.

4. Do you think it's because they are a new generation of idols bringing in new AFF writers?
Maybe? I don't know. I am a new writer in AFF after all, and in the first time I write for EXO only so yeah. /shrugs

Well, most write about exo because they're desperate to get subscriptions and then they fail terribly to actually write something proper.
B.A.P shouldn't be mentioned alongside EXO seriously. You can't compare them to each other. B.A.P had been working really hard, pretty much promoting non-stop, so I think it's not surprising to see people go crazy over them.
But it's quite annoying to see pretty much only exo in the featured section, I don't even bother looking there. It's sad how really good authors don't get the chance to get up there just because they're writing about less popular fandoms. It upsets me and I wish for a change, honestly.
