This might be a bit bold to ask, but I'll risk myself..

So there's one question that's been bugging me lately...

Everytime I watch an interview of any K-pop atist I'm always wishing they'd ask them a certain question concerning....

Their uality.

I don't know if this is like an insult to the Korean culture or something, but I'm pretty sure that there are bi's and gays in Korea, maybe even in the K-pop industry.

It's not that I have anything against it, I'm just a really curious person and I've gotten used to celebrities getting questioned about their uality elsewhere. Why isn't it applied to the Korean industry?

And if they have ideas about advancing to America, they should be ready for such questions, cause I can guarantee that's the first question they might ask.

So has this popped up into your mind before? What are your thoughts?? Is there any reasoning to this?

I know it's a bit bold and risky asking in an interview, but it just bugs me..

I heard that over in Korea, skinship's encouraged if you're close friends :3 But for my OTPs, I really wish they were gay for each other XD

Actually in korean, all the skinship between guys is just friendly gestures. In Asian it's like that or at least in korea it is.It don't really mean anything and the pairings is just made up by fans because of our fantasies and imaginations but really it's not because they're gay(though we wouldn't mind if they are cause the pairings are cute XD) JongKey,2min,YunJae,Yoosu are all just made up by fans because in a band/group the members are so close with one another and so there is skinship. It's just brotherly love, family because they are close and live together but it really isn't anything but we fans, who love the pairings,,would pretend it's JongKey,YunJae etc.In Asians, close friends are touchy with one another like for girls(I live in an asian country) that could squeeze each others or slap each others / if they are really really close friends. For me and my friends,we don't do that, not because we aren't close,we are but just don't do that. It's preference really but actually they aren't gays or bi or lesbians but it's just because they're close. It really don't mean much in Asian countries but people in western countries may look as they're gay but in Asia,we know it's because they're close and don't think of it much.

yeah actually i'm kinda curious too...you know with all the pairings and skinship that goes on but i think maybe its just their cultutre and they gay thing might be a kinda social taboo?

If they were asked, don't you think they would answer striaght because if they answer Gay/Bi/Lesbian the public would look at them weird and maybe boycot the band.
Even though they're the pairings like, JonKey, Eunhae, etc. Aren't those mostly for fan service? In bands, they are practicily siblings and treat eachother like brothers and sisters.
They're also bromances . . . But that just means they're really good friends.

I can't help but be curious about certain idols' uality too.(;
But I don't really think that the topic of uality is appropriate for an interview unless the celebrity has already announced his or her uality to the public. I mean, that topic is very sensitive and can cause people to feel extremely irritated and uncomfortable. It's different if, as in the case of Ricky Martin, you announce to the public that you are gay or lesbian or bi or whatever you are, and demonstrate that you have pride in and are comfortable with your uality. I think only then is it appropriate to ask about uality.
But...even so...I can't help but wonder about a few celebrities out there in many countries! ;D

That's actually a curious question and I'm not sure myself. I mean, there must be gays in Korea but I've never heard of them. Maybe it's Taboo or something....at the same time, what about fanfics? Surely they wouldn't write if it was taboo. I've heard even less about Yuri couples (girl fanfics right?). Still, they are super close, they live together so obviously they should be ready to answer complicated questions like that (lol, for some reason, when I imagine someone asking if they're gay, I see Taemin's innocent face and Jonghyun' shocked one...LOL). They ask them about and stuff so why not this? I think it's wrong to assume that they're straight but maybe it's not a concern? *sigh* now I'm confused and very curious.

honestly, there are a few that i'd question immediately. but it's no more than pure curiosity, it's not like i'd run to the hills with the information. well...maybe i'd wait for it first to be more accepted in korea, then let them talk about it in earnest. I wouldn't want to bother them with something they don't feel comfortable talking about.

...that made a lot of sense XD

lol the concept of being gay is foreign and looked down on in Korea. While its slowly making its way into society, its generally not out in the open as it is in most other cultures. everywhere is culturally different, so questions like these are usually never even thought of because its doesn't fit in their lifestyle or their culture in general.
