independent: rian is the only child and spent a lot of time alone so it’s no problem for her to do anything alone. she actually works better alone and prefers being alone to recharge from spending time with people.

2003: rian was born in nam-gu, daegu to a middle class family as an only child. her childhood was normal, nothing out of the ordinary. she doesn't remember any big tragedies from being a child, just good memories like going to lotte world with her parents whenever they were busy. her life was full of little happiness like that.
2008: when she was 5 she started ballet because her parents were too busy to pick her up from school on time so they needed an afterschool activity to fill the gap. rian didn't know anything about ballet beforehand but it didn't take her long to fall in love with it. she was a little ballerina that took classes seriously and practiced at home like she was told.
2013: by 10 she showed a lot of improvement and was more advanced than everyone in her class. her teacher let her take classes with the 13 year olds and she also started experimenting with contemporary dance and choreography. she also started competiting in local competitions for dance, specifically ballet and spending her summers at prestigious ballet schools like paris opera ballet school, royal ballet school in london and the school of american ballet in new york. but her parents were against her joining the school as a fulltime student because it was too far and they didn't have the money.
2016: her parents finally saved enough money and she passed the audition to the paris opera ballet's 1 year training program. at 13 she lived away from her parents at the dorms and with a host family. it was hard being so young and away from them but she knew it was good opportunity and she loved exploring paris. she got the opportunity to see ballet performances all over europe and perform with amazing dancers. it was like the best year of her life. she was accepted into the full-time student program which is very hard to get into but her parents didn't have enough money to pay the tuition so she couldn't go.
2017: because of paris, rian missed her first year of middle school. she ended up going to the same school as her elementary school best friend haram. she didn't have many friends because of how busy she was afterschool. but she was thankful for haram for sticking with her. she went right back to dancing after going back to korea. she joined daegu's ballet academy, the best in her region. since she always left school right when it was over, she never noticed how bad haram was getting bullied until she saw a bad bruise on her arm and her consistency made haram confess the truth. later that day she confronted her bullies in front of the class to leave her alone thinking that would be enough. but she was far from wrong.
a few days later, the girls stopped rian after school and took her to a side alley to talk. they confronted her for embarrassing them in front of the whole class and jumped her. it was 6 girls against 1 with the main girls boyfriend keeping watch and another guy recording. they pushed her around, slapped her while holding her down, punched and kicked her. in the end rian was left on the floor with a bloody nose, bruises all over her body, scratched knees and torn clothes. her bike was stolen and she missed her dance rehersal where she was supposed to be claire in the nutcracker. as she limped home in the rain, she'll never forget what they said to her before they left: "you think you're better than everyone because you were in paris for a year? lets see how well your dance career goes now."
rian told her parents that she got jumped by strangers who stole her bike and money. she didn't tell because they threatened to do worse to haram if she did. they took her to the hospital and found out that she fractured her ankle. rian was devestated because she was supposed to be the main character in the nutcracker and her dad told her they saved enough money for her to go to dance school overseas.
2018: recovery was hard for rian, she was depressed because her ankle wasn't healing as fast as she hoped. she got more quiet and distant even to her parents. one night she even put on her ballet slippers and tried dancing on it without the cast. her parents was found screaming in pain on the floor soon after.
her school life wasn't much easier. the girls made her another one of their slaves just like haram even with her crutches and cast. she never stood up for herself either because she already knew the outcome and was scared of what could happen next. she really hated her life and contemplated suicide because she didn't see light at the end of the tunnel. everything was just frustrating and afterschool she just locked herself in her room barely talking to anyone. she struggled to watch ballet things, the thing tht once gave her so much happiness made her cry.
during this time she got really into anime and kpop. watching both of them distracted her from her pain, especially watching variety shows. specifically groups with a lot of members like seventeen, super junior, got7, snsd, exo, apink, btob, bts, becuase they were even more chaotic and funny.
2019: by her 16th birthday she recovered a lot with the help of therapy and pain meds. she was able to join fundamental ballet classes to slowly get back into it. 6 months into the year she got a lot better and got the role of claire once again after auditioning since her dancing was so beautiful. they even adjusted the choreography so she wouldn't have to do pointe. she practiced as hard as she could and refused to let the opportunity leave her again. at her final performance, she got approached by a bighit trainee scout to join their company.

just like minji, hanni saw rian as an older sister. they both dormed so they'd go home together and hanni would sometimes wait for her when she didn't want to go alone. she helped her korean and dancing improve a lot, even through some homesick sadness. hanni sometimes helped her with singing too. she's more hyper than minji who is calm so when she sees her she'd run and hug her squealing unnieeeeee~. just like minji she's rooting for her and wants to see her succeed always!
