APPEARANCE wondae has a muscular build, more rugged than korean standards. the grown out buzz cut, the stubble, the chizzled jawline and thicker build. most people would assume he just got out of the military if they didn't know any better. while he did lose weight, his muscles are more pronounced than before. he has a dragon tattoo on his side because dragons are seen as luck and good. so he thought he would get lucky if he got a dragon tattoo.

STYLE / FASHION wondae experimented with fashion quite a bit before. he was flashy and every single piece he wore was the latest expensive item. but that was highschool wondae, adult wondae became a minimalist that didn't care much for fashion. probably due to the fact that he couldn't since he'd most definitely get robbed in the neighborhoods he went to.

EXPANDED wondae was always the kind of guy to walk to the beat of his own drum. he didn't let others opinions bother him, at the end of the day he did what would make him the most satisfied so its hard to change his mind about things. a friendly guy that never took much seriously, even those that try to offend him he just laughs it off since he too has the tendency to speak fluent sarcasm and joke around.
he easily becomes the center of attention and doesn't mind it at all. he's such a charmer. one can tell that he has many friends and is liked by many but he doesn't let it get to his head. he isn't the arrogant type, he's polite and shows respect which makes others respect him. he's a boy but a likable boy that stays friends with all his exes.
the way he approaches confrontation is interesting, he pokes around first, trying to find information and see their body language before he decides to confront them. he's more of a ease the tension, drinks on me kind of guy. but when push comes to shove he has no problem standing up for himself. sarcastic and passive aggressive comments or jokes are his way to go.
BACKGROUND
1996: Wondae was born on the spring day of May 23, three minutes after his twin brother Wonjae. A whopping 4.5kg at birth, almost 1 kg bigger than his brother, he was causing hardships since he came out the womb.
2001: By the age of 5 it was clear that the boys were totally opposite. It didn’t take long for Wondae to start causing havoc on the Moon household. Wondae wanted to explore everywhere and anywhere dragging his brother along in the process and giving his parents a headache at the same time.
2009: It was clear as day that school wasn’t Wondae’s strong suit. His grades didn’t compare to his brother, he was overlooked by Wonjae’s achievements so he didn’t even try academically. From as young as 13 he started smoking and would much rather fool around with friends and girls than study. He clashed with his father often and for the first time he ran away, he decided to go to Jaejoon’s house for the weekend without telling his parents, though Jaejoon did inform his sister where her son was as soon as he showed up at their doorstep.
2012: Highschool wasn’t much better for Wondae, his future wasn’t looking bright and his parents made sure he knew it. He didn’t go to the expensive hagwon they paid for, he didn’t show up for private tutoring, he wanted nothing to do with the family business, so to his dad he was basically a waste of space based on his fathers words. But that year he became a waste of space with a camera! Uncle Jaejoon gifted him a camera after seeing how much interest he showed in the museum whenever he ran away to Hwan village. He didn't know much about photography but it didn't take long for it to consume his life and take pictures of everything. Wherever he went his camera went with him and his draw was filled with film photos.
2015: Graduation went as expected, Wondae was in the bottom 10 of his class, he didn't take the entrance exam because he didn't want to go to college let alone stay in Korea. He had bigger and better plans that his parents just couldn't understand. But they didn't have to because he was going to do it regardless. He wanted to help document history, not sell houses.
2016: He spent the next 2 years traveling the world and photographing the beauty he saw between all the disasters and poverty. Even though he had the money to stay in luxury hotels he preferred hostels instead, making friends with fellow travelers and helping local families out in exchange for a room and some food. He went back to Korea a few times throughout the years, mostly on holidays to bring back gifts and spend some time with the fam but never too long.
2018: His life remained normal until February 27. He was visiting back home for a week to visit Wonjae who got the internship of his dreams. It was Wondae’s idea to get faced drunk that night to celebrate. The two feasted on barbecue then sang their hearts out at karaoke with pretty girls like they used to back in highschool. But at least Wonjae was actually enjoying himself that time unlike before when he’d be a stiff neck the whole time. Wondae doesn’t remember much after that, just that he had a good time and wouldn’t mind doing it again. He woke up the next day to Wonjae pacing back and forth and the day before he was scheduled to leave for Switzerland he got arrested and was named a suspect in a fatal hit and run.
Instead of remembering what happened it was more like he was told what happened by people who weren’t there. Apparently him and his brother got drunk as hell at karaoke, instead of taking a taxi they decided to drive back. It was Wondae’s idea so he drove. A few blocks away they hit a pedestrian while passing a red light and kept driving, the pedestrian was a 26 year old single mom that passed away. It was raining but according to the cctv it was Wondae who was driving so he was the one responsible and got charged with a felony hit and run charge. To not taint the family image the family lawyer bargained for a plea deal of 5 years and a fine so they wouldn’t have to go to trial with the family. The court accepted the plea deal and next thing you know Wondae was spending the next five years in jail for something he didn’t even remember.
That same year his father passed away, he didn’t talk to him before or after the incident. He just remembered his face when he was getting taken away, an expressionless shake of the head. He found out he died over the phone while he was locked up and didn’t cry at all, just couldn’t eat for a few days.
2019: Being in jail left a lot of time for thinking, and through some soul diving and spiritual awakenings Wondae realized the truth. At first he accepted taking accountability for his actions, he killed someone so he was where he was supposed to be. But after a while he started to think that it was unfair that Wonjae was able to live his life with no repercussions. He didn’t even have to pay a fine or be on probation. Instead since their dad wanted to bury the situation so bad, Wondae was the only one that got burned. His dad could’ve totally got him out of the situation with just a fine and probation with his influence but instead he was in jail, and his gut was telling him it was because his dad didn’t agree with his lifestyle. It was his way to get back at him for being the ed up son. His resentment for his father only grew after his death. But not just for his father, for much of his family. He can count on his fingers how many of them called or even visited him while he was in jail. The guy who was the life of the party and talked to everyone was being treated like a stranger and that didn’t sit right with him. The more he thought about it the angrier he got.
2023: It was Jaejoon who invited him to the family gathering, they kept it touch often and it just so happened that he was getting out a few days before. When he got released Jaejoon and Youngae were the ones that picked him up. He’s been at their house the past few days, no one knows that he even got out since he wanted it to be a surprise for his family, especially his mom, brother and Chorong.

ROUTINE these days wondae is working on getting everything back to normal. he's only been out a few days and he's eager to go everywhere, eat everything, see everyone. he wants to be free since he was stuck in a strict routine for years. so he's been living spontaneously without much of a plan. just spending time with jaejoon and youngae and relaxing.
CURRENT LIVING SITUATION he's currently staying with jaejoon and youngae in hwan village.
SECRET Wondae has a lot he wants to get off his chest, mostly pertaining to his dad and all the people that shunned him just because he was in jail. They better keep their lips tight or he’s airing all their dirty laundry. Even though uncle Jaejoon warned him not to for the sake of a good wholesome family gathering since it’s not like his father would be there to hear him. But with enough alcohol in his system, which he does plan on drinking quite a bit, he might just let it all out and expose it all. He is ready to see this family gathering burn. Who says let the dead rest in peace? Wondae would rather see him roll in his grave.
But Wonjae has an even bigger secret, the truth about the accident. It was Wondae's idea to drink, that wasn't a lie. They were at karaoke and stupidly decided to drive. But it wasn't Wondae who was driving, it was Wonjae. He lied to everyone, the police, his father and even Wondae. Blamed the accident on him because he had too much to lose. He's been holding back for so long but seeing his brother in person for the first time just might make him break.

≛ wondae hates his father. they always had a rocky relationship because of his expectations. he's pretty sure he set him up and he should've just gotten off with a fine. just talking about his father gets him riled up, he has no respect for a man that put his own son in jail.

≛ Unlike his dad, Wondae could never say that his mom didn’t love him. Her screaming was always followed by a bowl of fruit and she never once called him out of his name. They weren’t as close but whenever his dad would get on him she always came to make sure he was okay and clarify things. When he got locked up she was heartbroken, made sure to visit him whenever she could even if it was alone. Having a son in jail and a husband that died all in the same year was a lot for her. She called like crazy to make sure he was okay in there. But when Wondae started accusing his father of putting him in jail on purpose she couldn’t take it and stopped visiting. They couldn’t talk without arguing about the same thing. To her his father tried his best, he got him the best deal he could under the circumstances, she wanted Wondae to move on but how could he. As the years went by the calls came in less and less. Wondae found himself talking to Youngae more than his own mother which hurt. It’s not that she doesn’t want to talk to him, she just can’t go through that everytime they talk, especially when he’s not even there to defend himself.
BROTHER moon wonjae | 27 | 5/10 | sungjae
≛ Wonjae was always the better twin. More put together than his rough around the edges looking brother. The one that actually listened to his parents, the one that took the fall for wondae whenever he caused trouble when they were kids. But being the "better" twin per say put a lot of pressure on him. He had to reach all his parents expectations and somehow actually did everytime. It wasn't that he was smarter than wondae, he just studied a hell of a lot so he could have better grades.
He's a certified goody two shoes, never skipped a class, never talked back to his parents, never stood up for himself. Wondae doesn't know but there are times that wonjae got yelled at because he didn't stop wondae from doing something. But still despite being opposites the brothers remained close. While wondae was traveling the world wonjae was in college studying finance and interning at his parents company. CFO was expected to be his title, his dad had it all planned out. All Wondae had to do was reach his expectations so he could actually get the job because contrary to popular belief nothing was ever handed to him on a silver platter.
He always felt frustrated whenever wondae came over from wherever he was. Seeing his sunkissed skin and nonchalant nature made wonjae cringe with anger everytime. He loved his brother dearly, he loved hearing his stories about his adventures but he couldn't help but feel jealous at the freedom he had. Wonjae could never live such a life, instead he had to spend all his time studying to take all the burden that their parents gave. The perfect siblings that blindly listened to what his parents said because if he didn't then he suddenly wasn't good enough.
Before he could get the CFO position his father wanted him to intern for a top company to prove that he could handle it. Once again Wondae had no help, he had to work hard to have a 4.0 to qualify for an internship position. So when the car crash happened, he saw his life flash before his eyes. All the respect he built throughout the years gone in a second, and he couldn't let that happen.
But wonjae has never recovered after the incident. He tried to act normal, he's still trying. But he became an anxious mess, constantly looking over his shoulder and worrying about his reputation. Wonjae wanted to reach out to wondae and he did at first but the guilt was killing him so much that he couldn't anymore.
But Wonjae has a happy life now, he's the cfo of the family company and he has a lovely fiancee. But there's a constant nervousness about him, he hides his guilt by calling it anxiety and takes medication for it. His family feels bad for him too, poor wonjae has ptsd from the incident. Found himself going to church every sunday to repent for his sin. A people pleasing nervous wreck is a good way to describe him.
Till this day wondae can't believe that wonjae barely talked to him while he was locked up. Chorong told him he has anxiety about the situation and doesn't even want to talk about it in general, but to wondae talking to him is the least he could do. He thinks wonjae thinks he's to good to talk to someone like him now. A posh like the rest of them. Sad because they used to be so close. Wondae has a lot he wants to say to his brother, and he can't wait to surprise him during the family holiday.
SISTER-IN-LAW bae chorong | 27 | 9/10 | rv's joy
≛ Chorong is Wondae's fiancee, they met during college and have been dating since. He proposed earlier this year and the two are planning on having their wedding summer of 2024. She was usually there when Wondae would visit Wonjae at his house, he was the funny brother that always had a funny story or joke to tell, plus he always brought gifts. Surprisingly chorong has been keeping up with Wondae. She wrote to him often in secret because she didnt want Wonjae finding out. They talked pretty often, she was the one to update him about Wonjae. She even found him a girlfriend while he was in jail but they broke up because wondae was talking to like seven other girls. Her opinion on him didn't change one bit, she can't wait to see him again. He opened up to her about how he felt and she understands his point of view. It's a shame how the whole thing played out in her opinion. She knows that he's coming to the holiday and kept it a secret from everyone, she thinks him and wonjae rekindling will help his anxiety for the good.
UNCLE hwan jaejoon | 50 | 10/10 | lee byunghun
≛ Out of all his uncles and aunts he is closest to Jaejoon. He used to run away to his house a lot of wander around the museum while Jaejoon worked. He was always a history buff but it was actually what got him interested in photography, after seeing an exhibit he wanted to mark his spot in history through his photos. Jaejoon was fully supportive of Wondae, he got him his first camera. He thought Wondae wasn’t a bad kid, just had different interests than his parents. He was actually going to help him get an internship at the museum the year he got arrested but that obviously never happened. Even after he got locked up he kept Wondae going by telling him about the new stuff that was brought into the museum and things happening around the world. Since Wondae was always comfortable around him he has no problem telling him any concerns he has and letting him be a voice of reason for him. All the film photos Wondae took are now in Jaejoon’s house instead. Since he got out the first place he wanted to go was the museum, they got right back into their old habits. Wondae expressed his concerns to him about his father but Jaejoon just told him to drop it since he passed away already and it’s been hard on Jihye.
AUNT-IN-LAW kim youngae | 50 | 10/10 | yum jungah
≛ Youngae is like a second mom. When he used to run away she always prepared him a hot meal and some tender love and care. She often is the mediator in any problems he has with his parents, giving emotional support and guidance unlike Jaejoon who is more practical. He enjoys helping her cook and giving her back hugs like she’s actually his mother. His relationship with her is honestly the relationship he wished he had with his mom.
COUSIN hwan youngjae | 21 | 9/10 | minhee
≛ He has a good relationship with him. Since they have a mutual interest of photography that’s usually what they talked about. Youngjae used to look up to him a lot when he was younger, Wondae is pretty sure he doesn’t any more though. He promised Youngjae that when he turned 18 they’d go on an epic adventure and take amazing pics together but it never happened and Wondae apologized for it many times. Youngjae loves hearing his travel stories despite hearing them over and over again. Since Youngjae got into photography too he’d send letters with the pics he took whenever he could. Wondae always looked forward to those letters the most.
UNCLE hwan jaebeom | 50 | 8/10 | lee byunghun
≛ Wondae got compared to Jaebeom a lot growing up. He was called the younger Jaebeom, his mom joked that he must’ve been his son instead. They both love traveling and slept with a concerning amount of women. Whenever they were in the same city they met up and Jaebeom would let him stay at his place. He’s visited him in jail a few times but mostly phone calls since he travels so much. He has no problem with Jaebeom, he’s been one of the few consistent family members in his life.

CHUSEOK i miss celebrating chuseok, i remember i used to come back to korea everytime just to have dinner with everyone. i still can't believe that was four years ago.
HALLOWEEN i try to dress up wherever i am and go party with some friends i make along the way. i wonder if they still have the same numbers.
