appearance. amongst a crowd of people, it isn't so hard to spot jaewon. her hair is seldom in its natural color as she has tendencies of dyeing her hair in different colours, almost as a warning sign for others that says "don't mess with me" without requiring words. with a poker face donning her face and her cold gaze paired with her choice of dark coloured clothes, intimidating others is as easy as 1, 2, 3 for jaewon.

the jaewon look. usually short to medium length hair that's dyed whenever she wishes to change hair colour, ear piercings, apathetic resting face, sarcastic smiles.

the infamous fighter who uses fists over words, an impatient and aggressive that's always involved in something rather than nothing. these are the descriptions tied to jaewon, not a single one positive but she's certainly made an image for herself.

the first thing people think of when they cross paths with go jaewon is cold. there's something about her stony gaze that causes others to feel a chill down their spine and automatically avoid her. an icy winter who, if not careful enough, will leave a deathly frost bite.

although the overused descriptions of her have some sort of truth in it, jaewon's merely one of those people that are always misunderstood; all because of stories about her that become overly twisted and eventually misconstrued.

despite claims of being very impetuous, jaewon is actually logical and sensible. majority of her choices are made rationally, weighing the pros and cons before acting on it which includes the fights that she's involved in. though she can't claim to be a saint, jaewon opts to talk things out first, however, somehow ends up having her fists finishing the so-called conversation.

jaewon's tendency to be in fights are due to the fact that she hates seeing others hurt or getting hurt, especially her loved ones. she isn't afraid to stand up for others and doesn't tolerate those who have a terrible attitude or behaviour in the way they treat people.

however, her sharp tongue does also influence the conversations she tries to have before the fights ensues. eloquent and snarky, jaewon has a way with words that enable her to pick out the worst thing about others even if her observation about them is brief. honest and insensitive, she can effortlessly annihilate a person into shreds without even using her fists.

but beyond that intimidating exterior of hers and past the nonsensical rumours that fly around, go jaewon is loyal and treasures family and friends first. despite struggling to express emotions, her actions speak louder than her words and exude love and care, even if her words say opposite.

of course, since her social circle is very little to practically nonexistent, it's hard for anyone to know jaewon on a personal level. she does her best to keep her distance, mainly because she prefers not put anyone in harm's way.

more on go jaewon!
"looks like could kill you, can kill you."
actually nice and easy to talk to unless you're in her bad books :)
hesitant in befriending people because she's aware that she will hurt them in some way
 has major trust issues™
an unbothered queen that's always bothered simultaneously, after all, why else would she try to pick fights if she doesn't care :)
hates seeing injustice and won't hesitate to call people out for it, even if they're friends
has the ability to look at situations objectively and never lets her biases cloud her judgement
limits others on what they can know about her and always builds a wall around herself
has random outbursts of energy which she'll show to people she's very close to
reckless in the way she takes care of herself and due to her random outbursts of impulsivity
doesn't usually care about rules that restricts her in doing things in the way she wants
has astute observant skills that enhances her intuition, thus is a good judge of character
is really chill and very non-judgemental once you get past the intimidating first impressions
struggles to ask for help due to being fiercely independent and tries to do everything herself
doesn't give two cents about the rumours on her as she never cares what other people think
terrible at giving advice but will fight for you
 sarcastic, snarky and brutually honest
8 out of 10 times talks like she's competing in show me the money since majority of the time where she talks usually includes someone or a group of people that pisses her off
super terrible with emotions or feeling them at all since she's so used to numbing it
may unintentionally hurt others with her words but is quick at apologising especially when she knows she was in the wrong
the type who'll say no to people's request as she simultaneously obeys.

notes.
resident tsundere, adores wholesome things or people but will never ever admit that, appears to fear nothing, controls emotions to a t but maybe it's because she doesn't have any, dangerous to cross, can perfectly plan a murder for six whole months and get away with it if her loved ones are affected.

"it's a real shame your face goes to waste with that attitude of yours, didn't your mother teach you how to respect your elders or was she too busy sleeping with other men?"

the words of the drunkard man causes jaewon to abruptly halt in her tracks, her fists clenching tightly. she was going to let this one slide even after he had tried to grab her earlier, but this just crossed the line for her— with a deep breath, jaewon turns around landing a couple of blows on him.

"don't you dare mention my mother like that."

jaewon grabs a fistful of his shirt, looking at him dead in the eyes as he groans fearfully, "and don't try to even touch girls like that ever again or i'll make sure you land in jail again but with all your bones broken in pieces."

and with a final blow to his jaw, jaewon walks away from the man lying on the ground, writhing in pain as she proceeds to call the police.

her anger certainly got the best of her, it often does anyway whenever her family gets brought up— leaving the drunk man with a multitude of bruises wasn't necessary, but neither was that comment of his regarding her mother.

but jaewon would be lying to herself if she didn't see some truth in his words, and maybe that's why her anger rose.

circa 2001.
in an early autumn morning, jaewon was born into a mess. an unplanned child born to awfully young parents who didn't know any better, they were both twenty one and had great plans for their futures, full of dreams they hoped to fulfill. but this child wasn't in either of their list, at least not now.

jaewon's mother loved her father deeply, he was her first love and hoped he would be her last. a hopeless romantic blinded by love, and so when her father had suggested marriage, she thought it was out of love.

instead it was out of responsibility— forced by his parents who considered the upcoming child first before their own. they weren't willing to let their son run from his responsibilities and allow an innocent child grow up in a broken home. so, with no choice, her father reluctantly asked for her mother's hand in marriage.

circa 2009.
eight years of marriage, with every year leading closer to the downfall of their love. jaewon's childhood was composed of screams and yells, relentless arguments, sounds of fragile objects shattering just like her mother's heart once the front door would slam shut after her father takes off for the night, only to return the next morning.

although, the first years of her childhood were lovely, or seemed to be so, based off the fond memories captured in the photographs within a photo album her family kept.

but perhaps the photographs hid the extremely bitter truth, that behind those warm smiles was the chilly reality of her father never really loving her mother.

because one night, her father grabbed all of his belongings, leaving her and her weeping mother behind along with their shattered hearts.

and jaewon never saw him after that.

circa 2009-2010.
not long after jaewon's father had left their lives, her mother fell into a depressive state to the point where jaewon took it upon herself to take care of herself and her mother.

fortunately, her uncle and his family were there for the two of them. jaewon's fondest memories always included her uncle's family and they had been there for them since she could remember. for a certain period of time, jaewon and her mother lived with her uncle's family until they were able to support themselves.

it was there where she found herself truly happy and where she was able to feel what family was supposed to be like.

however, jaewon had to grow up quicker than most kids around her. she was praised for being the most mature in class when in actuality, it's because she had to be. her life at home was in literal shambles; a blurry photo that needed to be discarded, the same way her father did to be with someone else, away from the responsibility of being a father and a husband.

jaewon had to push aside her childhood in order to take care of her mother. although her uncle's family provided them the roof under their heads and food on the table, she had to tend to her mother who barely ate and slept. every night for a long while, jaewon would hear the cries of her heart broken mother and every night, it would shatter her very own as she'll try to pick up the pieces the next day.

circa 2011-2014.
jaewon and her mother were able to financially support themselves after two years of living in her uncle's home. her mother eventually got back up on her feet, landing a job as a financial manager and once they had enough savings to be capable in buying an apartment, the two had moved to start fresh.

for jaewon, starting fresh was entering her first year of middle school. with these big changes in her life, she believed that she was on a flowery path now. after experiencing these hardships, it only meant that she could only go up right?

but boy, was she so wrong.

for jaewon's mother, starting fresh meant seeing new people. every few months, jaewon would come home seeing a new guy that her mother wants her to meet, and after a short while, she comes home to see her mother crying.

it was a vicious cycle that led to exhaustion both on her and her mother. jaewon wasn't having a great time in school as well; the friends she had made eventually turned out to be backstabbers who would talk badly about her behind her back and it made her realise, she'd rather be alone than to experience the feeling of being hurt over and over again.

and just like that, jaewon started to build walls around herself.

circa 2017-2019.
jaewon's wall became tougher and tougher to break down after graduating middle school. she became detached to most of the things in her life, especially her life at home.

jaewon got to a point where she could no longer comfort her mother because of how emotionally taxing it was— to know that no matter what she may offer to her mother, jaewon knows that she won't change and that she'll always find another guy to date to fill some void in her life. jaewon's realised long ago that she wasn't enough for her mother, the way she couldn't be enough for any body.

jaewon's time in high school wasn't the greatest either. it was there where she had witnessed an excessive amounts of bullying and harrassment, where she had begun to pick fights on a regular basis in hopes of standing up for other people, only to receive the short end of the stick as she gets reprimanded and labelled names.

in her attempt to do something good, to fix right from wrong, go jaewon was seen as a rebel, a delinquent with no hope for the future and it still remains with her to this day.

circa 2020.
jaewon never really understood why she was accepted in yeongun. whilst her academic and college entry exam grades were fantastic, it was a shock that they gave her an offer even if her conduct reports were terrible.

back in middle school, jaewon found a love for arts. she had always enjoyed art classes since little, but jaewon had a different career path she wanted to pursue back then. yet she found that art allowed her to express her emotions in ways no words could.

she spent most of her middle school and high school in empty art rooms, drawing, painting or sculpting. eventually becoming good enough to hand in portfolios with artworks and pieces that she's done, which led to her acceptance offer in yeongun.

as jaewon entered yeongun with others from the high school she graduated from, her reputation still remained and was eventually heightened as she got involved in multiple fights.

the only difference now is that she doesn't care what other people think.

school life.
there's a lot of people who know of go jaewon, and a number who has gotten to feel her anger. the stories and rumours regarding her were enough to keep most away, often working alone during group projects and she never really minds.

jaewon is often always the first person in her classes, entering an hour before to pass time as she draws or scrolls through her phone. though she may not seem the type who tries, jaewon studies hard which reflects her outstanding grades but it's her behaviour that's a constant flaw.

jaewon frequently heads to the school's clinic, council  and headmaster's office as if a routine. all because of her desire to fix things, to protect and defend people.

during her free time and/or after work, jaewon lives in the art studios working on her art pieces or studying.

dorm life.
no one really sees jaewon that often in the dorms as she's always working or in training or in the art studio. despite the curfew, jaewon always comes home super late and usually sneaks in. to jaewon, the dorms are merely her place to rest or occasionally eat.

when she is home, jaewon usually cleans the general areas and her room. she's also responsible in repairs and assembling furniture  within the dorm and does a good job at it. the girls have also found her to be great at capturing insects and setting them free, just simply ask her and jaewon won't hesitate to do it even if she's saying no or she's taunting with the bug.

life outside yeongun.
despite coming from a well off family, jaewon isn't fond of asking any kind of help, especially now when her relationship with her mom isn't the best. preferring to keep her distance, jaewon juggles four part time jobs in order to get by.

a barista, waitress, teacher and usher. many say she's trying to kill herself but this was her way of distracting herself. she can't be alone with her intrusive thoughts if she's busy.

teaching martial arts at her uncle's school were one of the things she enjoys out of her week alongside her sessions in the art studio. it kept her going and it was there where she was seen differently; there wasn't an image stuck to her and the kids she taught looked up to her. they looked at her as if she was a superhero, the coolest person around.

but of course, jaewon isn't different outside and inside yeongun as she spends a frequent amount of time in the police station, usually late at night when she has to fight drunk men causing trouble to others especially at her waitressing job or at the end of her shift.
lee dongwoo
uncle • nine
"alright, punk. i know i'm the one on your speed dial but i don't like that i associate all your calls with a trip down to the police station."

jaewon sits in the passenger seat quietly as she her dry lips, tasting the lingering hint of blood on her tongue. she touches the bruise near the corner of her lips ever so softly, wincing lightly in pain.

"sorry, uncle."

dongwoo ruffles his hair in a frustrated manner, "what am i going to tell your mom?" he asks, "that her kid's using all the martial arts i taught her to punch drunk erts one at a time??"

jaewon sneers at his remark before pulling a straight face as he gives her a look, "you think this is funny?"

"no, sir." jaewon answers in a rather playful way.

"alright, y'know what it kinda is funny— every few days a erted man ends up in a place he belongs but it's too dangerous, jae." he says in sincerity, "i don't wanna lose my favourite niece."

"please, you're just scared in the thought that mom would kill you if anything happened to me."

"well yeah that too!"

"as long as you don't tell her then you won't be killed."

"jaewon..."

the girl averts her gaze from the blooded scratches adorn on her knuckles to her uncle as she responds, "just don't bother her. she's busy and i don't want to trouble her."

"y'know she always asks me about you, you're her kid."

"then i hope you've said only good things about me, uncle or else..." jaewon says with a finger gun aiming at him.

"alright, punk. i won't as long as you don't shoot."

"just try to visit your mom or even give her a call, yeah?"

"no promises, uncle."
to jaewon, if there was a big award for best and favourite uncle, lee dongwoo has won it every year.

lee dongwoo is her mother's younger brother, the baby of three older siblings. despite being the youngest, he was dependable and took care of all his siblings especially her mother who he was close to.

dongwoo grew up enjoying martial arts and as a result, he established a martial arts school where jaewon spent most of her life in.

ever since jaewon was little, dongwoo was like a father to her, even more so when her real dad walked out of their lives. he taught her how to ride a bike, how to swim and trained her in taekwondo as well as hapkido.

jaewon treats her uncle like a dependable friend. though she hates asking others for help, dongwoo is always her speed dial and like the good uncle he is, he swoops in to save her especially when he finds her in the police station after a brawl, and talks of a lawsuit is mentioned.
lee jeno
cousin  ten
"hey dingdong, catch."

jaewon glances up to see an empty can heading her way, grabbing it before crushing it with one hand and proceeds to throw it in the plastic bag filled with recyclables.

"thanks loser."

"what did you get in trouble for this time?" jeno inquires, handing her a cold drink to quench her thirst under the scorching sun.

jaewon takes off her gloves, relaying a small thanks once she wiped her sweat off. "it's none of your business, why do you wanna join me?"

"bruh it is my business since i'm your cousin so i have the right to know," jeno shakes his head, sending a cheeky grin her way, "but nah i gotta reject your offer, i still wanna live yknow."

"i got caught sneaking back into the dormitory at 3am."

"oh." jeno's nose scrunches  lightly in distaste, "that's it?"

"what else did you want?"

"i thought you pushed some guy in front of a bus, damn."

"jeno??? i would be in jail by now if that happened."

"would you really be behind bars though? the guys at the police station know you real well that they all think you're their daughter."

"yeah, well unlike you, jeno, they have morals."

"wow, you talk as if i'm the one forced into a community service."

"i don't mind doing a second round of it, after i shove you in front of this moving bus."

"alright, calm down! geez!"
lee jeno is the youngest and only son of dongwoo's but also jaewon's closest cousin due to being the same age.

though jaewon was an only child, jeno helps her to know what it's like to have siblings or better yet, a brother. they grew up together and were so close that they were like a package deal. without one the other wouldn't be there, and their dynamic definitely heightened when they spent a few years living under the same house.

to jaewon, out of her life that always changes, her uncle's family was the only constant factor. though the two have grown up and have placed a little distance between them, they're still quite close even to the point where they both joined yeongun together.

though they have a different friend group, or rather a lack thereof on jaewon's part, he always makes time to hang out with his dear cousin and regularly checks up on her.

as the both of them are part time coaches in his father's martial arts school, jeno and jaewon often teach together. this is where they spend the most time together, hanging out after the lessons.

aside from their usual hang outs and coaching, jeno has the tendency to run into her at strange times, especially when she does community service as punishment once she gets into trouble.

since not many are aware of their famalial relation, many wonder how jeno can talk or even interact with jaewon at ease. whilst jeno knows how well jaewon can take care of herself, he still does his best to look out for her because he knows jaewon does it for him as well.
yang jeongin
classmate  four
jaewon mindlessly draws on the corner of her art diary, a way to past the time as she waits for more people to roll in for class.

meanwhile, jeongin entered the seemingly empty class-room only to find jaewon in the furthest corner with her head down. he takes a deep breath, his heart racing to a point where he could hear it loud and clear. he's going to approach her courageously.

"h-hey jaewon sunbae."

jaewon immediately looks at him upon hearing her name and the boy swears his life began flashing before his eyes as her cold intimidating gaze forms into a squint.

looking at jeongin nervously smiling at her, jaewon blinks a couple of times, giving a curt nod at him before she raises an eyebrow, "you look familiar." she mentions while she takes note of the shift of expression from jeongin.

jeongin's nervous gaze turns into a relaxed one, sending a smile her way. "we went to the same high school except i was a grade below you."

as jaewon's memories about high school weren't the best, she could merely nod to his answer as she had wiped all the memories she had from high school, which didn't go unnoticed by jeongin, seeing her indifferent attitude when he had told her.

"i was your partner for a few community services after my failed attempts of sneaking out of class. yang jeongin if it rings any bells."

with the extra details jeongin had provided, memories that she burried deep resurfaced as she lets out a tiny, "oh."

"the busan kid with braces." jaewon says, pointing at him while she observes him with more intent, examining how his smile widened, eagerly nodding as she managed to recognise him.

"yeah! that was me!"

"you got rid of them."

jeongin is caught off-guard, amused by her remark since he expected her to snub him off once she had recognised him— he's surprised by the mere fact that he's talking to her after years of hearing all these bad things about her.

"yeah, i did." jeongin takes a deep breath again to muster up the courage to ask her a question despite knowing he was going to get a no; "is it okay if i sit with you? i mean if you're okay with it— i get it if you say no— feel free—"

"yeah." jaewon interrupts his nervous fumbles, shrugging nonchalantly as she clears a section of the table for him.

"oh." jeongin says out loud, astonished by her laid back answer, settling on the other side of the table.

"thanks, sunbae."

"it's just a table, it's not like i made it," jaewon mentions, waving off his thanks, "also don't call me sunbae."

"o-oh, then jaewon noona?"

"sure."
back in his first year of high school, jeongin moved from busan to seoul per his father and mother's commands in order to attend a school they found better for him. and the first and most important rule that jeongin was told was to never mess with go jaewon.

there were always stories of her in ruthless fights against a group of students or with a scary individual no one else would mess with.

with these stories engrained in his mind, jeongin did what everyone else did—avoid go jaewon at all cost.

that is, until he got caught trying to sneak out of class on more than one occasion.

jeongin got punished with a community service duty and every time he had to do it so did jaewon. naturally, when they would both be on duty, they got paired together.

yet jeongin never really tried to talk to jaewon out of fear she'll beat him up, so aside from the usual greetings and his attempt at small talk that she curtly responded to, he did his duties silently.

after jaewon graduated high school, jeongin was sure he would never see her again until he heard stories of her in yeongun, but he didn't run into her until recently when he realised they were in the same finance elective.

this time, jeongin decided to approach her and only then did he realise that she isn't as bad as people had made her to be.

to jeongin, jaewon is one of the coolest people he's ever known. though there's still a distance between them, he considers her a friend. while he may not know a lot about jaewon, he appreciates how she listens to his stories and shares her honest opinions.

jaewon is rather hesistant in befriended jeongin but she's fond of his presence and his stories, appreciating how he approached her first despite knowing the rumours around her. jeongin earned jaewon's respect which is a feat not a lot of people can have which is why she doesn't mind him and why she would fight for him if he gets into trouble.
choi byeol
dorm mate • three
jaewon quietly enters in her dorm after sneaking in, only to jump in surprise seeing a figure sitting on the floor of the lounge room illuminated by the small lamp placed on the coffee table.

a few curses flow out of as her nimble fingers flips the light switch on, "are you asking to be blind? turn on the lights when studying, byeol— you scared the hell out of me."

"s-sorry jaewon."

jaewon picks up on the soft sniffles coming from the girl, and quickly realises she had been crying. she's known of it too well after all. deciding to go easy on byeol, jaewon decides to change topic. "it's 2.30 in the morning, why are you up?"

"i just have some homework to finish up, don't worry."

while jaewon isn't convinced by her excuse, she decides not to press any further, "just do it later, there's no need to try hard this late at night."

byeol only manages to nod at the younger's remark, it's not that she was trying to be productive at such an hour, she just didn't want to say that she was up after a bad nightmare.

with no other option, jaewon has to respect her choice of refusing to elaborate further. she grabs the tissue box on the kitchen counter and puts it on the sofa, behind byeol to reassure her that she can only see the older girl's back and nothing else.

after all, she understands it's not easy to cry when there's people around, especially a person

"just don't stay up too late or else the ghosts might decide you're dinner."

byeol lets out a small laugh, nodding her head which put jaewon a little more at ease.

"i won't."

"right, well...see you."

"good night, jaewon."
to jaewon, there's something about byeol that doesn't feel genuine at times.

jaewon's tendency to people watch often always lands on her dorm mates as the main subjects, so she's observed byeol on multiple occasions to be able to tell if her smile or laugh doesn't seem true.

while she isn't fond of fake people, she refuses to jump to conclusions and believes that there's more behind it; a perfectly good reason as to why byeol does it. thus, she chooses not to press further out of courtesy.

everyone had their share of secrets and jaewon wouldn't want to pry. she didn't care enough to either.

jaewon's relationship with all of her dorm mates are rather distant but she doesn't mind them too much.

they don't interact too much but they do talk from time to time even if the length of the conversations are short.

although neither of them can be close enough to consider each other as friends, byeol is someone that jaewon can see she can protect.
kim yujin
dorm mate • four
(collab with brainkang!)
"hey jaewon, you're here for once." yujin mentions upon seeing jaewon exiting out of her room.

"well, i do live here."

the girl shrugs, her beautiful smile gracing her face, "well i know but it doesn't feel like you do sometimes, yknow?"

"if this is your way of saying you miss me then that's sort of gross."

"y'know i think between you and me, you're the one who missed me," yujin claims in a teasing tone, "i saw your private account liking one of my educational posts."

jaewon is taken aback, and though she still seemed very unexpressive, yujin can tell by the way her eyes shifts to everywhere else but her.

"that was by accident, don't think of it as special."

"i made that post a year ago and you don't follow me. so you were stalking my profile and that's something."

"i— whatever, yujin."

yujin laughs in amusement, she wasn't aware how fun it was to see jaewon flustered.

"anyway, thanks for liking it, i appreciate the support. did you eat yet, by the way?"

"no. did you?"

the girl gets up from the sofa to sit at the bar stools facing the kitchen where jaewon is, "not yet. do you want to join me for breakfast?"

"an offer that guys and girls would kill for," jaewon says while pulling out a tall glass from the drawers, "but it's an offer i have to decline."

yujin pouts softly, "awh that's too bad." her tone of voice is filled with disappointment as it's met with jaewon's shrug.

"i have something else on." jaewon elaborates, her back facing the other girl as she proceeds to grab the jug full of orange juice.

"is it important?" yujin asks curiously earning a second shrug from jaewon.

once jaewon adds ice cubes and pours the juice near to the brim, the glass is gently pushed towards yujin who's let out a gasp, "for me?"

"not intially," jaewon claimed while ignoring the small look of disappointment from the other girl, "but i changed my mind so stop you sulking."

"awh, thanks jaewon."

"no worries. i'm off now."

"take care!"
like everyone else, it's never hard to adore kim yujin; she was someone jaewon could tell had a good heart.

yujin is full of charms, brave and smart. she's yeongun's it girl with the way she draws people in, and jaewon hates to admit it but she's a victim of her charms.

jaewon admires yujin in the way she holds herself and how she's willing to fight for what she believes in. though they've never interacted until of recent when jaewon had gotten into a fight revolving yujin, she's someone which jaewon thinks highly of and respects, even if she'll never verbally admit it.

their reputations at yeongun are polar opposites like their personalities, everyone talks about jaewon terribly while yujin gets showered in all of the praises.

however, even if yujin can take care of herself, there's instances when she's talked about badly for simply trying to educate others and doing her best to stay away from people she doesn't like. it's times like those that causes jaewon to be pisseed.

and though yeongun's it girl isn't very aware of it, jaewon does end up in a number of fights because of how guys and occasionally girls talk of her.

while they argue she has no right to in, jaewon feels responsible because it's not yujin's fault that she has to call them out for being real douchebags.

and though she doesn't care that much, or so she says, jaewon just isn't the type to allow people getting hurt for no reason.

yujin has reached out to her, asking to be friends which received a strange response of "i'll think about it" from her and since then hasn't given yujin a proper answer.

but, there was a shift in the way jaewon treated her after that whole ordeal.

though jaewon never gives her a proper answer, it's all in her actions, in how she'd treat yujin and how she was willing to open up to her just a little bit. words weren't at all necessary, if her actions screamed everything else.

jaewon and yujin interacts at the dorm very frequently, but there has been a few times when yujin's invited her out to eat and hang out which is generally declined. not that she wants to keep rejecting the offers, it's just that most of the time her schedule is packed.
jung joohyun
dorm mate • three
(collab with guanheng!)
"no, but when did you get a girlfriend?" jaewon looks at her cousin in skepticism.

"what? you don't believe my dashing looks could get me a girlfriend?"

"oh, it's not your looks i don't believe. i don't want to insult myself, damn."

"hey! what's that suppose to mean, dingdong?"

jaewon shrugs, choosing not to expand on her statement, "who's the girl?"

"me."

joohyun answers for him as she takes a seat next to her cousin, sending a confused look at jeno.

jeno merely grins, "joohyun, meet my cousin, jaewon and jaewon, meet my girlfriend, jung joohyun."

"oh." joohyun's gaze switch from jeno to jaewon, back to her 'boyfriend' and notes the difference of expressions.

"you guys are cousins?"

"unfortunately." jaewon says in a soulless manner, before she immediately asks her a question, "did jeno force you to do this?"

joohyun is shocked at how quick jaewon caught on, her indifferent attitude and gaze causing joohyun to feel a bit intimidated. she only agreed to have dinner with jeno and him only, unaware that she'd be talking to one of the most intimidating people walking on campus.

"do you not have faith in me dingdong? i'm perfectly able to get a girlfriend!"

"well she's not really wrong." the truth came from the soft voice right next to him and jaewon merely scrunches up a napkin to violently throw at jeno.

"you prick."

"what was that for?!"

"you date one girl to another for months like you're speed running minecraft and now that everyone thinks you're a boy, you drag a poor girl into your mess."

joohyun stifles a laugh at the comment, ignoring jeno and his playful glare at her way.

"it was the best option!"

"your best option was to not be a player, loser."
joohyun and jaewon always crosses paths whenever she does community service but has never interacted.

jaewon was too intimidating to joohyun, while the latter couldn't care less about her until they started living in the same dorm and her cousin became joohyun's boyfriend.

like the other girls, jaewon's relationship with her is quite distant however, once they got to officially meet and talk thanks to jeno, they did get a lot closer.

prior to joohyun being jeno's girlfriend, she was generally under the radar and it wasn't until she began dating jeno that everything changed.

jaewon feels guilty that she enabled jeno to go through with his dumb plan, and now joohyun's bearing the brunt of it. then again, both parties agreed to do this and surely they knew the risk.

so the only thing jaewon can do is to protect joohyun from the ruthless bullying and tell jeno off, favouring joohyun a lot more than her cousin.

eventually jaewon warms up to joohyun and by then, she ends up babying her. seeing that jaewon won't always be there for her to defend and protect her, jaewon tries to encourage joohyun to stand up for herself. even though her advice is pretty much, "if they cross the line, use your fist."

jaewon and joohyun shares a lot of interactions, seeing that the latter is dating her cousin but also the fact that they run into each other at community service, and also at psychology classes.

with a busted lip and various sized scratches on her face and hands, jaewon enters in the dorm to retreat back into her room and away from the world.

"jaewon unnie!"

jaewon internally groans as she prepares herself for the onslaught of questions that the mother will cascade her with.

"i'm fine, don't worry."

"you're a mess! what do you mean, don't worry?!?!" the mother refutes, the concern in her eyes heightening after looking at the older girl more closely.

jaewon waves her off, going right past her and straight to the kitchen where she grabs an ice pack from the fridge.

"nothing a shower won't do, i'm okay alright?" the older girl reassures her one more time, "did you eat yet?"

the mother sends her a look of disbelief, "are you serious right now? you're asking me about my wellbeing when it's you that looks like a mess?"

"well, i'm a mess without the disheveled hair, busted lip or the bruised knuckles, so it's not much of a difference to what you see as usual," the older girl shrugs, "so did you eat or not?"

"i— but—" the mother tries her best to argue back, only to huff in annoyance as she childishly crosses her arms, "yeah, i did!"

jaewon holds back a chortle, amused at the younger girl. although she took good care of everyone in the dorms, it didn't change the reality that she was the youngest.

"don't worry too much about me, kiddo. i'm perfectly okay once i shower and sleep."

the mother can only comply, knowing that it's futile trying to go against jaewon's hard headed personality. however she rushes to her room, only to return to jaewon with her first aid kit in her grasp.

"here," the mother mentions, putting the first aid kit in the older girl's hold, "i have cute bandaids in there."

jaewon shakes her head in amusement, "of course you do," she remarks, finding the younger girl to be endearing as she gives her puppy eyes to plead with her.

"make sure you put them on and disinfect your scratches or wounds before heading to bed, okay unnie?"

deciding to give in just once, jaewon nods, "i'll use it well, kiddo."

"good! i better see you using my cute bandaids tomorrow too, jaewon unnie!"

"no promises, kid."
despite the mother's general air of maturity, it never really deters jaewon to treat her as a little kid.

that isn't to say that jaewon never appreciates her doting nature, because she does in so many ways but since she is older than the mother, she also has the responsibility in taking care of the mother, to look out for her and protect her.

it's hard to admit but jaewon does have a soft spot for the mother, admiring her caring attitude even if she was the youngest of the bunch.

out of everyone in the dorms it's the mother that interacts with jaewon the most. it isn't because they're the closest but rather, due to bad timing where the mother is always there whenever jaewon gets home all bruised and beaten causing banter between the two in which the mother's in constant worry while jaewon brushes it off.
the talkative
dorm mate • three
with a cheery loud voice, the talkative can be easily seen from a mile away before her figure is even spotted.

"i wish she'd shut up, i hate hearing her voice— it's just so annoying." jaewon hears the two friends as she walks behind them.

she didn't mean to listen into their conversation, she was busy shuffling her playlist as she wanted to listen to this specific song, but it's a little too late to stop prying now.

"yeah i know, all she does is talk. i'm in her class and she just doesn't shut up, no one can even tell her to!"

the talkative hums a song as she energetically skips to a class, only to halt when she overhears the two girls who purposely spoke louder for her to hear.

"she's such a fake too, she tries so hard to be bubbly as if she wants to be popular."

the talkative stops humming her song, a wave of hurt has began to wash over her until they all hear jaewon speak.

"hey, watch your mouths."

the two girls are shocked by who was behind them, one of them answering back in a snappy manner, "excuse me but we're entitled to our own opinions."

jaewon takes off her airpods as she scans the two girls in disdain, her arms beginning to cross, "and somehow that means they're considered to be valid?"

the two girls struggle to say something back, only for go jaewon to interrupt, "so what if i go ahead and say, "this girl and her friend are the most ignorant and stupidest s i've ever seen" will that be considered as valid simply because i'm entitled to my opinion?"

the two friends are instantly silenced, regretting why they had done what they did right in front of jaewon whilst the talkative simply stares at the situation in awe.

"that's right, i didn't think so." jaewon answers for them in a smug manner.

"also have you ever heard of keeping it to yourselves? it sure saves a lot of people's ears from being forced into hearing all the excruciatingly worthless opinons that come out of your ugly mouths."

leaving the two girls in utter shame and embarrassment, jaewon takes her leave and places her airpods back on to resume to her music.

"jaewon! jaewon!"

hearing her name, the girl is approached by the talkative who has a beam on her face as she runs up to her, "thank you so much jaewon! can i do anything to repay you?"

"no need. i gotta go ahead, i missed five minutes of class already."

"oh, i see. sorry for troubling you even more, i don't want to keep you. thanks again!! you're really the best!"
while jaewon prefers silence and tranquility, she isn't too fussed when it's broken by the talkative.

the talkative is bubbly, high-spirited in nature and she's great at being a moodmaker within the dorm. jaewon isn't going to ostracise her due to their vast differences, it's not like the talkative does harm when she talks.

in fact, jaewon doesn't mind it when she blabbers, even if she looks uninterested and generally unresponsive, she listens intently to the stories and topics that the talkative talks about, especially when it's something the talkative is passionate about; it's in the way her eyes sparkle and in the way her enthusiasm can be heard.

it's in those moments where jaewon has a tinge of envy, a moment where she wishes she could find something or someone that'll cause her to burst out emotions of love, of care.

jaewon rarely interacts with the talkative one by one, it's usually when they're in the common spaces of the dorm where they see each other. they don't really talk directly but jaewon's usually one of her audiences, listening in to one of her stories.
moon suna
dorm mate • four
(collab with nebular!)
the tranquil moments within their dorm always came late at night, when everyone had fallen asleep.

jaewon treasured these late nights greatly; it mean that it was her time to relax, where she could do whatever she wanted even if it only lasted an hour or two. there was no customers to serve, no rude person to fight with—it was just her and peace.

generally, the other girls are all fast asleep by now but it seems like tonight was one of the exceptions.

sitting outside in the balcony was none other than the girl full of mysteries, moon suna.

grabbing two chocolate milk cartons out of the fridge, the girl approaches the balcony, opening the door as quietly as possible, considering the rest of the sleeping girls.

hearing the sliding door shift gently, suna turns around to see jaewon with two boxes of milk in either hand.

"i'm pleasantly surprised you don't have headphones on," jaewon states as she hands the other girl the unopened carton of milk in her hand, "it reassures me that you do in fact have ears."

suna merely stares at the small offer, hesitant to take it from her which the younger girl notices, "i didn't poison it if that's what you're worred about, unnie."

seeing jaewon's persistance suna finally takes it from her as she relays a soft thanks. opening the left corner to take a sip, the two down the beverage in silence, which in jaewon's opinion, wasn't too awkward.

"apparently, milk contains an amino acid that helps you to sleep," jaewon mentions to her off-handedly, "but all the research papers i've read all mentioned warm milk, and no mention of chocolate milk so this won't be effective."

the older girl wonders how jaewon knows that she can't fall asleep, but she can feel that jaewon does it too; star gaze to forget the world and the endless problems with it.

chugging down the cold milk til she reaches the last drop, jaewon holds the empty box firmly while she takes in the view of the night sky above her, releasing a huge yawn, one that she suppressed for a long time while at her job as a waitress.

"geez, people exhaust me."

jaewon's remark brings out a tiny smile on suna's face. it was out of the blue, but so relatable.

"i'm going. you don't need to finish the milk." jaewon says as she turns around to open the sliding door, "also don't sleep too late or the mother might go after you...and me maybe."

suna chuckles as she nods her head, "i won't."

"night."

"oh, hey jaewon?" the older girl's soft voice was barely audible but still managed to stop jaewon from her tracks.

"yeah?"

"do you want to water plants with me next time?"

"oh—" jaewon blinks, hiding the sense of excitement in her expression and tone of voice, "sure."

"fair warning, i might kill your plants so don't blame me."

suna shakes her head lightly in amusement, "we'll see."

"good night, jaewon."

"you too, unnie."
jaewon often finds herself in suna but can also see how different they are.

to jaewon, suna is probably the most intriguing to her; unsure if she's just quiet by nature or because she's not opening up to others.

though their interactions and conversations are seldom, it isn't to say that jaewon has never paid attention to her in fact it's the opposite.

jaewon notices her all of the time, even if she rarely says a word, observing her in the way she acts.

moon suna is someone who has her walls built to a point where no one could try to reach and she respects it, why? because she does the same.

and it's factors as such that causes jaewon to think that maybe, just maybe, they're not so different.

the two girls began to get a little bit closer once jaewon kept running into suna after her late night shifts, through the milk boxes and snacks she'd share, suna began to warm up to her and vice-versa.

suna eventually asked her if she wanted to water suna's plants with her, which turned into a frequent event and it was there that jaewon had a realisation; this was suna's way of letting jaewon in her world. though she thought nothing of it, jaewon began to look forward to watering suna's plants with her.

and slowly, but surely, suna would be let in jaewon's little world too.
the jock
dorm mate • two
jaewon wakes to the blaring noise of the jock's yells and her rapid pounds against the door.

groaning in annoyance, the girl rolls to the other side of the bed, covering her ears. she doesn't want to get up.

yet the jock is persistent and her knocks get louder which causes jaewon to forcibly sit up and leave her bed.

jaewon aggressively opens the door, a menacing glare greeting the jock, "what?"

the jock looks at her up and down, "you look awful." she remarks causing jaewon to clench her fist tightly as she tries to calm herself— giving the jock a black eye wouldn't be helpful, she's a bit moody from being forced out of bed and the jock doesn't deserve a punch for it. but she could if she didn't stop herself.

"there's a bug in my room."

jaewon's still half asleep, her eyes barely open while she aggressively rubs it,  "and?

"what do you mean and? kill it for me."

the jock's word causes her eyebrows to fuzzle together in confusion, "you're a jock, why the hell are you scared of a small insect?"

"i'm trained to do sports, not to kill bugs, genius."

"no one's trained to kill bugs, genius, you just gotta do it."

the jock is frustrated at how jaewon's equally snarky, "oh shut up and just kill it for me, jaewon!" she wails, growing ever so impatient.

yet jaewon is unfazed by her attitude, closing the door on her, "not with that y attitude, i won't."

the jock sticks her foot in the door before it could come to a full close, "can you just kill it for me?" she whines.

"what's the magic word?"

the jock instantly sends her a look, "are you serious? i'm not five."

"obviously," jaewon says in sarcasm, continuing on in a blunt manner, "five year olds have better manners."

the jock's glare is met by an apathetic shrug. jaewon isn't scared of her and that's why she was at a disadvantage.

"have fun going to bed with the thought of bugs entering your mouth then."

"alright fine, wait!"

jaewon does what she's told and opens the door wider to face the jock clearly, seeing the way the latter sighed in defeat before asking her in a more polite way.

"jaewon, can you please kill the bug in my room?"

"woah, that was so polite! i didn't even know you had it in you, do you want a star?"

"stop being so sarcastic with me and get on with it."
jaewon and the jock have a love-hate relationship that's mostly dependent on hate.

jaewon thinks it's because of the fact that they're way too similar. they're both snarky, stubborn and often impatient to the point where it clashes.

the jock detests how jaewon always seems to win every argument they have. after all she's always been a winner, it's in her blood but it's never the case with jaewon.

to the jock, everyone adores her but jaewon. she doesn't get why she hates her but if jaewon wanted to explain, it isn't like that at all.

jaewon knows that the jock's well loved, fully showered in nothing but praises, and she knows it's the cause of the jock's arrogance.

she sees how people gloss over the jock's rude attitude and due to the jock's nature, no one can call her out for it.

all except jaewon.

jaewon fears nothing and it's something she takes a great advantage of in order to call the jock out whenever she's acting rude. because even if the jock tries to unleash hell on her, jaewon is unfazed.

after all, jaewon is probably the scariest out of everyone and even the jock refuses to fully anger her.

but though they're not often in good terms, jaewon looks out for her and likes to give her the benefit of doubt that the jock can change, it's just a matter of effort and some sort of event to start it all.
song minju
dorm mate • three
(collab with -haruman!)
"hey, jaewon?" the girl calls out, knocking on the slightly ajar door.

"yeah?"

"my light bulb's busted and i was wondering if you could help me?"

jaewon looks at the photo in front of her which she was in the midst of editing and then at the wall flower standing in her door way.

"absolutely not." she says as she gets up, walking past to grab a spare light bulb and a ladder.

"oh." the wall flower's voice is initially laced with a sense of disappointment and turns into confusion within a blink of an eye.

the wall flower still isn't used to jaewon and her generally contradicting nature.

jaewon enters the room and immediately flips the switch off, placing the ladder right below the light.

without hesitating, she hops on the ladder and takes out the faulty light bulb.

"how long has this light bulb been faulty for?"

"uh not too long, maybe two or three months?"

jaewon whips her head back to the wall flower visibly in shock, "you call that not too long?"

"yeah...?"

"and you only asked to fix it for you just now?"

"i was too scared to."

the wall flower is honest yet awkward when she admits it and causes jaewon to shake her head.

"i'm not going to beat you up just because you need your lightbulb fixed, geez."

"sorry, jaewon."

"i don't need your apology, i need you to tell me what to fix the moment its faulty rather than to wait three months uselessly burdening yourself." jaewon bluntly responds, the strict tone of voice causing the girl to flinch a little.

"i'm sorry, i'll make sure next time."

jaewon opens to tell the wall flower off for her unnecessary apologies but stops herself, she's already scared of her, it's not worth it to intimidate her even more.

thus, jaewon merely nods as she focuses on installing the spare light bulb. once she's tested it, jaewon shows the wall flower a thumbs up.

"there, good as new."

"oh sweet! thanks jaewon."

"all good. remember what to do next time alright?"

"yes ma'am."

the wall flower is someone that lets jaewon know of her bad reputation at yeongun.

jaewon doesn't think it's the wall flower's fault though, all of the students, staff and the rest who've encountered her has a bad opinion on her, a consequence to the actions she takes.

jaewon and the wall flower don't interact aside from the casual occurrences at their dorm; it's mainly because of the wall flower's fear of her, and jaewon's preference to be alone.

the fact that jaewon isn't at the dorms until late at night doesn't help jaewon's overall relationship with any of the girls either.

and although the wall flower is scared of her, she always seems to ask jaewon for her assistance and always think she'll end up hearing a cold no, only to be surprised that jaewon complies even if she has the habit of saying no while doing what was asked.

"ah, the confession page is so dry right now." one of the girls mention, aimlessly scrolling on her phone.

it's one of those rare days where they were all together at the dorm, some were in their own rooms while a number were gathered in the living room.

jaewon was laying in one of the arm chairs, a comfortable position that she had been in ever since she came home early in the morning.

"the yeongun confession page always has the same stuff; complaining about the uni work, a love letter they're too chicken to send, random trolling, the beauty and i getting love letters, jaewon being a , and kim seungmin being fanboyed/fangirled over." the jock says, taking a glimpse at jaewon to see if she reacts.

unsurprisingly, none. jaewon's eyes are closed shut, her arms crossed over her chest but she is awake, listening into their conversation.

"there's always a confession about seungmin, is he that great? i've never met him."

"everyone loves him, it's really hard not to."

"everyone except jaewon unnie probably."

"yeah well, jaewon hates everyone."

"i hate it here is a better sentiment," jaewon's deep voice causes them to jump a little. with a tired yawn, she gets up from the chair before heading to her room, "you all ruined my nap."

"also i've never met this seungmin guy or what ever his name is, but i'll be the first one to hate him if he ever does anything worth hating on."

everyone loves kim seungmin. the staff loves him, his classmates adore him, even those he has never encountered love the sound of him.

though generally shy and sticks to his group of friends, seungmin's well known within campus grounds—a result of being an active member in yeongun's student representative council, a position he has held since entering yeongun.

seungmin has an exceptional reputation, he's known to be friendly and approachable, willing to help others in need and does everything so diligently that he goes above and beyond. he's well loved to the point where he was elected as the president of the src, a position that he wasn't expecting to receive.

but seungmin was perfect for the role, despite his young age, he was dependable and level-headed, always offering the best solutions and he had a way with words, with people. it was hard to hate seungmin because while there is no such thing as perfect, kim seungmin was close to it.

however, seungmin isn't perfect. regardless of the praises he receives, seungmin is aware of his shortcomings and more often than not, he chooses to focus on his flaws. a perfectionistic at its finest who priorities who he isn't rather than who he is.

his conscientous nature is also a double edge sword as seungmin hates when nothing goes to plan. it's the reason why he has a backup plan for his backup plans, why he gets rather upset when his schedule doesn't go according to plan, why he gets annoyed when he doesn't get up on time.

seungmin is the type who keeps his feelings to himself, often choosing not to tell a soul at times when he's down or angry, which results to bottled emotions rushing out when there's no free space to fill. though he may not always show it, every hurtful and insensitive comment gets to him. it causes him to overthink, falling into a cycle of wondering if he's good enough and needing assurance that he is.

but the worst of all, seungmin is selfless. to a point where he no longer thinks of himself and what he wants for himself. he derives pleasure from ensuring everyone else is happy that he forgets of his own happiness. as he needs to be someone that's objective and able to speak for others, seungmin forgets to express what he wants for himself.

more on kim seungmin!
"looks like a cinnamon roll, can kill you"
those who truly know him (aka roomie!yang jeongin and friends) know him for being blunt, witty and ridiculously smart
catches onto things way too fast to the point where jeongin has given up on trying to prank him because it always fails
neat freak™ — very particular as to how he does things
though he is friendly, he's selective with who he hangs out with, has a small social circle
when he gets mad it isn't pretty because he will give the silent treatment and he will let you know  he's mad even without saying a word
luckily for everyone, it takes a while before he gets mad (don't even try bestie)
7 out of 10 times talks like he's auditioning for show me the money, because it's not like he's actively seeking to speak in diss tracks, it just naturally happens
has random outbursts of weirdness (barks for no reason sometimes) which jeongin often ends up being at the receiving end.

notes.
simultaneously wholesome and savage, every thing must be perfect or else, secretly a doggo in disguise, way too smart, knows when to be serious and to have fun, overall the bestest boy.

track i. hi hello—day6
we lived without knowing each other but with a hello, you and i became a we
act i. scene i.
the first time kim seungmin meets go jaewon was something he had never scheduled for, all because it had never crossed his mind that he would ever be in a situation like that.

he had only meant to take a small lunch break to give himself an hour to prepare for his next class, yet he noticed how students would rush past him every few seconds, which left him in wonder until he hears of the reason from one of the students running past.

"go jaewon's in a fight with two jocks from the basketball team!"

knowing how great the commotion that would be, seungmin decides to follow suit, sprinting to the direction of the sports stadium.

the pathway to the sports stadium is blocked by a crowd of students and in the middle was go jaewon against two tall basketball players, seungmin pushes past the crowd, apologising every now and then out of courtesy to get to the front where he witnesses the two guys on the ground.

"what the hell is your problem?!" one of them roars at jaewon who laughs in disbelief.

"my problem?" jaewon reiterates, "shouldn't it be obvious that it's you?"

"we didn't do , ."

jaewon's clenched fists gets tighter, knuckles turning white, "real classy of you to ignore the fact that you both talked about the beauty like a love doll."

"stop spreading lies jaewon!"

"i wouldn't be picking fights if douchebags like you didn't tread on earth!"

the two guys started to attack jaewon and she did her best to dodge them as she kicked one in the abdomen and punched one in the jaw, but before she could land another punch, kim seungmin jumps in the middle of the action in an attempt to pull the three away from each other.

only to end up at the receiving end of jaewon's punch.

"hey! stop it right no—"

the crowd reacts in shock, some letting out a loud gasp much like jaewon whose moment of realisation came as lightning seeing seungmin falling to the ground.

jaewon quickly rushes to the stranger's side, a bit panicked as she scans him, "are you okay? why the hell were you in the middle?!"

seungmin groans lightly, trying to overcome a state of shock from her blow and is unable to give a proper answer which automatically lets guilt crash over her like waves against a rocky shore.

seeing that jaewon was distracted, the guys took it as an opportunity to attack and decided to land a kick on her back causing jaewon to nearly fall directly on top of the boy she was checking up on until she propped herself up.

jaewon struggles to get up but manages to do so, ignoring the throbbing pain in her back as she forcefully kicks the two of them causing them to topple to the ground. before she could do anything further and before the guys could retaliate, a few guys from the crowd held them back and others went to help seungmin as the security guards came in.

act i. scene ii.
the first time go jaewon met kim seungmin, if she didn't count the punching incident—which she really didn't because that was too awful to remember, was in yeongun's health clinic.

kim seungmin was knocked out cold not long after she had checked up on him during that fight. instead of heading straight to the head master's office, jaewon made a bee line to the clinic to check up on the stranger she had no intention in punching.

seungmin woke up ten minutes later, feeling a twinge of pain near the corner of his mouth. the sense of unfamiliarity kicking in, unsure as to where he was.

"are you alright?" a stranger's voice asks him as he sits upright before turning to the side of his bed where jaewon had been waiting to see him up.

seungmin is silent, recollecting pieces of what had happened earlier and as his fingers graze over the left corner of his mouth, he winces in pain.

"what time is it?" seungmin isn't sure how long he's been in the clinic for but he's sure that he was behind his schedule.

jaewon is still concerned, looking at his busted lip and bruise but answers regardless,  "2pm."

"i missed my classes." he says to himself and immediately tries to get out of the bed, only to be stopped by jaewon.

"you're not leaving looking like that."

"i really don't wish to come off rude but, you're technically the reason why i look like this and i have to go."

jaewon ignores the guilt which instantly came after he responded, grabbing the first aid kid from one of the shelves. "i'll help fix you up."

"i appreciate your kindness but it's really not necessary, i just really need to go—"

"i don't like oweing people so you're not going until your injuries are treated." seungmin feels jaewon's hand firmly gripping his arm as his eyes meet hers. without even saying a word, he knows that she's not going to let him go and with a sigh, seungmin reluctantly sits back on the bed.

the boy watches jaewon proceed to clean her hands before opening the first aid kit as she stands in front of him, providing some space in between them. "is it okay if i...?" jaewon's words trail off, a hint of awkwardness evident. she's never treated the people she's punched before, she's always just left them in pain.

but seungmin knows what she's trying to say, timidly nodding his head and in a swift gentle motion, jaewon lifts up his head to face hers in order to place the antiseptic.

the ointment stings and jaewon notes the way the boy in front of her winced, instinctively she fans the area of the ointment to relieve some sort of pain. they're both silent, the awkward silence filling the room until seungmin tries to start a conversation.

"so you're go jaewon?"

"yeah, surprise. i'm not actually a guy."

"i'm not surprised, i've heard a lot about you at student council meetings and i've read a lot of the student reports complaining about you."

"so i'm assuming you must be kim seungmin," jaewon mutters softly, her gaze shifts from the wounds on his face to his brown orbs, "if the src gets a number of student complaints about me, why haven't i been expelled yet?"

seungmin has read all of the student reports, and a good percentage of it are about jaewon and her aggressive behaviour. usually people who would file complaints were either a friend of the people involved, or the ones who faced jaewon's wrath. while on paper, it seemed that it was always her at fault, the src and the staff took time to investigate further, only to realise that jaewon had every reason to pick the fight.

"most, if not all, of your fights always have an underlying issue once we put it under further investigation. we usually don't go through this much trouble but..." the boy logically explains, feeling bashful as he continued, "i felt that not all of it was out of emotional outburst."

jaewon nods her head at his explanation, the awkward silence returning as she applies the last layer of ointment on his wounds. taking a step back once she had finished, she breaks the silence between them with an apology that she had been meaning to say, "i'm sorry about today, i didn't mean it."

"it's alright, i'm also at fault for rushing right in so we're both to blame." seungmin replies, his eyes scanning her up and down to notice her scuffed hands, the injuries on her face, "thank you for treating me by the way, but what about you?"

"i'm all good. i'm used to it." jaewon brushes it off, packing away the first aid kit and cleaning up.

seungmin is lost in his thoughts upon hearing her response, there was something forlorn in her words and the way she was casual about it. how often did she get hurt to the point that it isn't something worth worrying over?

"hey, didn't you say you were going?"

"oh, yeah." her voice takes him away from his thoughts, getting up from the bed and heading towards the door as they both exit the clinic.

"i guess i'll see you?"

jaewon merely shrugs before waving goodbye as she walks backwards to face him, "it'd be best if we didn't meet again, i don't really want to punch your face for the second time."

"i'm sure we'll see each other again," he says with a grin, "hopefully in better circumstances where my face is nowhere near your fist."

"maybe."

does anyone find go jaewon different lately? or am i just high???

track ii. love me like that—sam kim
keep my heart from building walls so high you can’t get through. treat me soft and tender.
act ii. scene i.
go jaewon and kim seungmin met each other after that, and after that too. over and over like a broken record, they kept running into each other.

the second time was in the office of the head master, shortly after their first encounter. they were sitting opposite each other as the head master spoke, "all of your community service isn't enough, it clearly isn't helping you to grow so i kindly asked the src if they can take you in as a volunteer."

the head master's decision caused jaewon to be a voluntary assistant in the src, mainly to seungmin who took on a lot of responsibilities; she attended all the meetings she could, did errands and join events where they had been invited in. in every meeting, every errand and every event, seungmin was there.

"didn't i say we'll meet again?"

"you set this up, didn't you?"

"not at all— so i guess you could say it's fate."

"no, it's called coincidence."

the third time they ran into each other was in the psychology lecture, unaware that either of them took the subject. jaewon was always an hour early for her classes, she enjoyed having the whole room to herself before anyone else comes in and coincidentally, seungmin shared the same sentiment.

jaewon was in the furthest corner of the room, leaning against the wall with her eyes closed, her laptop screen open with her photographs set up on photoshop and her sketch book and pencil sprawled against the keyboard. she had been working late the night before and lacked sleep.

seungmin entered the row behind her, quietly approaching the sleeping figure. he glances at her work briefly before proceeding to call her name, "go jaewon!"

the girl jolted in shock, her hands balled into a fist and ready to swing at him which seungmin dodges this time with a grin.

"look, i didn't get punched this time."

"why are you here?"

"i'm in this lecture too. but i sit in the front."

"okay, and?"

"don't you think it's strange? there's too many coincidences to not call it fate."

"it's all coincidence, there's no thing as fate."

"whatever. do you want to sit next to me?"

and despite jaewon's persistent rejection, she found herself sitting next to him that day and the days that followed, near the corner (they had to compromise) closer to the front.

act ii. scene ii.
the first time seungmin managed to let jaewon open up about herself was over a casual topic around hobbies. seungmin had tendencies of looking at jaewon whenever she doodles and often steals glances at the photos she kept on her laptop.

"so why do you like photography?"

"it captures memories. to me, photographs are a time machine; they help relive moments one has always cherished, even if they no longer have what or who was in the photo."

and it was through their mutual love for music and photography where they managed to get to know each other, where seungmin began to see more of jaewon and where jaewon began to let her walls down slowly but surely to let him in.

it was strange, especially for those who knew that seungmin was selective with friends and those who knew jaewon wasn't the type who wanted to make friends.

but somehow it made sense.

act ii. scene iii.
eventually seungmin and jaewon became very close friends. they were always seen together, mainly because of the head master's order for her to do volunteer work in the src, but also for the fact that they liked each other's company.

without even realising, seungmin and jaewon had positive influence on each other. it's in the way jaewon began to smile a little more or the fact that seungmin began to be more relaxed. they share deep and personal things that they used to bottle up, staying up late to talk and it  was moments like this that made them realise how important they were to one another.

and though jaewon still does pick fights, it isn't as often as before because seungmin's often right next to her. but even when he isn't, he'll always try his best to come running in before it gets worse because, as everyone else began to notice, only seungmin can stop jaewon. it's evident in the way her eyes soften right when he enters or the way he talks to her softly and calmly, or when they look at each other in a lot of concern.

because out of everyone that jaewon knows, it was only kim seungmin who she allowed into her life and her personal space, even if she's petrified at the thought that he could break her heart at some point.

yet she wholeheartedly accepted him.

yo wth i just walked passed go jaewon and src pres, i've never seen her smile like that 헐
83
track iii. starlight—taeyeon ft. dean
just looking at you makes joy spread on my lips, you’re the only one who can make me smile like this
act iii. scene i.
it didn't take long for people to notice just how often seungmin and jaewon spent lots of time together, especially the ones close to them.

jeongin had always been weirded out by his friend's actions because seungmin was never one who actively approached others and start a friendship just like that; he was timid and reserved so when jeongin noticed how he was acting towards jaewon, alarm bells began to ring in his head yet he simply chose to ignore it, only for it to ring louder when he realised the pair had gotten real close.

"it took one punch for your brain cells to work properly, seungmin hyung. i should have done it earlier!"

"shut up jeongin."

the girls at the dorm also began to catch on as jaewon always seemed to be on her phone or talking to someone as she sat outside in the balcony. but it became more evident when she would often come home with colourful hoodies that she needed to wash, all aware that most, if not all, of her clothes were darkly coloured.

"can you believe this happened because she accidentally punched the wrong person?"

"that's such an aggressive meet-cute."

"quit treating this like a rom-com film, it wasn't a meet-cute."

"okay, so explain what it was then."

"i don't know, meet-aggressive."

eventually, everyone noticed the difference in jaewon when seungmin was next to her. she was less intense, and she laughed and smiled openly around him which made seungmin feel pretty special. only he was capable to do that.

act iii. scene ii.
with the prom on the way, there was a huge ruckus around campus with many rushing to find a date to take on the big night.

jaewon, on the other hand, didn't really care. it wasn't like she was going in the first place. she's been schedule for a shift that day and she'd rather get paid than attend prom. sure, she helped out on it since she was assisting the src but jaewon had already made up her mind, she wasn't going.

though as she took a trip to the bathroom, she overhears two girls talking. one of them with intentions to ask seungmin out for prom night.

"doesn't he have a thing with go jaewon?"

"i don't know, but it doesn't hurt to ask right?"

"i just don't want your feelings hurt..."

jaewon hears the front door slide open, their voices fading off as they exit. it was only then when she decided to leave the bathroom stall, excited to tell her friend about what she just heard.

but why does she feel a twinge of jealousy?

act iii. an intermission.
[ wonlight, sent 1.30pm ]
guess what

[ seungshine, sent 1.30pm ]
??? did you dropkick someone in the face :/

[ wonlight, sent 1.31pm ]
what?? ofc not. but i was in the toilets just now and i heard one girl that's planning to ask you out for prom :DDD

[ seungshine, sent 1.31pm ]
oh

[ seungshine, sent 1.31pm ]
cool i guess ㅋㅋ do i know her??

[ wonlight, sent 1.32pm ]
idk, she does look familiar but bruh that's such a lame response, i thought you'd be excited :(

[ seungshine, sent 1.32pm ]
speaking of, are you sure you're not going to prom btw?

[ wonlight, sent 1.32pm ]
i mean unless i change my mind but yeah.

seungmin knew for a while that jaewon wasn't going to prom, even before they began to plan the event. he knew that jaewon had little to no intentions of attending, nor was interested to.

but even if he knew, why was he disappointed about hearing her say she wasn't going?

over the next few days, jaewon's report to him came true except it wasn't just one girl. a few girls from his classes and a number that he's never interacted with before asked him if they could go together at prom.

and like the polite boy that he was, he kindly declined each offer with an apologetic smile.

act iii. scene iii.
jaewon and seungmin decided to have lunch together, returning to the art studio where the two always hung out.

with the sun shining above them, jaewon took a minute to observe her surroundings, taking in the beauty of nature. how the wind blows on her skin and the warmth the sun provides, all before her gaze lands on seungmin who had began talking.

if there was one thing that jaewon noticed, it was the fact that the sun adored seungmin. it was almost as if the sun was always there to be his spotlight, enhancing the best features of him especially that irritating and ridiculously cute smile of his.

"so what do you think?" his voice interrupts her thoughts and jaewon stops in her tracks, merely blinking in response which seungmin catches on as he halts.

"you weren’t listening were you?"

"i- i was trying! the sun’s in my eyes so i can’t focus." jaewon excuses as she squints in the process to make her alibi more believable.

seungmin lets out a laugh proceeding to , "alright little kid, quit whining." he takes a step closer towards her, lifting his hand as he gently hovers it above her face to provide her shade.

and it was that exact moment where jaewon’s breath catches in her chest, trying to avert her glance anywhere but seungmin’s soft gaze on her.

"i said, i know you mentioned that you weren't going to prom but do you want to go with me?"

the sudden question instantly makes her peer up at him, confusion visible on her face. "don’t you have a date?"

"you merely informed me that a girl wanted to go with me to prom, i never said i was going to say yes."

"well, aren’t you going to?"

"i would but that’s not what i want." seungmin shrugs, before he explained, "you told me that i should start caring about what i want—"

"and what i want is to go to prom with you."
behind the scenes.
jaewon and seungmin aesthetics.
late night talks, melona bars, shared playlists, arguments over which day6 song is the best, clown emojis, high fives and fist bumps, gentle shoves, playful fights, unwarranted hugs, loud and genuine laughter, beaming smiles, candid shots, discreet art sketches.

extra tidbits!
jaewon used to kick seungmin out of the art studio when he would come over but now it's become a place they always hang out in— it's where seungmin studies while jaewon works on her sculpt pieces or photos

seungmin loves being in the art studio as he loves seeing art made and he admires jaewon when she's so focused in creating her pieces

jaewon secretly draws sketches of him in a separate sketch book because seungmin has the tendency to go through the one she tends to draw in

seungmin is an avid photographer and likes to force jaewon to teach him to be better

seungmin always lets her borrow his hoodie and jaewon returns it as soon as it's washed

seungmin is jaewon's forever buddy when it comes to art exhibitions and galleries, mainly because he whined enough to force her

they always give each other thumbs up as a way of cheering on each other without having to verbalise it

they both have candid shots of each other on their cameras and their phones

seungmin visited the martial arts school one time when jaewon was teaching and instantly regretted it because her uncle and cousin had interrogated him

jaewon tends to refrain herself from being overly harsh around seungmin because she's afraid she'll hurt his feelings and she knows he won't express the fact that he's hurt.
