APPEARANCE : 

⛈ currently suna has her natural black hair with blonde bits on the underside of her hair, framing her face (i'm bad at explaining hair, (this) is what it looks like. >_<) in the past she had fully blonde hair, which she loved but got rid of because of her ex. suna really likes her hair now but is also open to more colors in the future, most likely when she graduates because suna doesn't really wanna stand out anymore than she already does because of her outfits. suna has her ears pierced, just the standard single piercing on each lobe. her hair is usually down and covering her ears so she doesn't bother with cute dangly earrings, just simple studs. suna has a light (beauty mark/mole) on her cheek that's easy to miss if you're not paying attention. it's an endearing feature on her. suna is a light wearer of make-up, not wanting her face to clash with her outfits. she'll do a peachy lip with brown eyeliner and mascara. this is the combo that makes her feel the best, so suna tends to do this look everyday, occasionally throwing shimmer on the lid if she thinks it will compliment her outfit.

FASHION STYLE :

⛈ suna has a slightly toned-down alternative style, quite inspired by "e-girl" aesthetics and trends. dark colors are her go-to but she branches out every once in awhile, especially when it's summer. one might be surprised given how private and reserved she is, but suna just loves the way these clothes look, especially when she sees the disapproving looks on her mom's face (it also helps too that her toxic ex-boyfriend would absolutely hate seeing suna wear these). sure, suna got into this style due to spite at first but she likes the way it looks on her. you might think these clothes make her stand out and while that's true to an extent, it merely adds to her mystery. someone will see suna walking by and think huh, who's that? but then they'll either forget about it five minutes later or ask around about the quiet girl with the weird clothes. right click and open in new tab to see bigger picture! additionally suna isn't much of a jewelry girl, preferring simple silver rings and the occasional choker. prom dress options: (here) and (here).

PERSONALITY : 
the dark-haired girl places her earbuds into her ears immediately after the class ends, wasting no time gathering her things to leave. on her way to the door, a sturdy shoulder slams into her accidentally, a small noise leaving in surprise, before meeting eyes with the perpetrator. the boy looks down at her as his brows furrow, "i'm so sorry! i didn't even see you there, truly! are you okay?" unsurprisingly, moon suna says nothing, merely adjusting her bag before continuing on her way. "the ...? who even was that, anyway..." the boy scoffs. suna is a girl of many thoughts but little words. a dreamer who hopes for the best but always anticipates the worse, a person who expects the least from humans but is grateful when they actually pull through. mysterious just barely scratches the surface when it comes to words that can describe her, but it's no wonder why many label her that way. she in fact prefers it. thanks to her past, suna prefers her life to be private, building up emotional walls from a young age, but even more so in recent years. she was always quiet naturally, but suna now aims to speak as less as possible, because if the right person gets her talking she might blather or reveal things she'd rather keep to herself, being she's a very sincere person to a fault. it definitely has to be the right person, as most would get frustrated or give up at her numerous attempts to avoid social interaction. if one perseveres, as long as suna is comfortable, they would see that underneath the walls of defense she's secretly a softie that rambles occasionally about nice things and can't tell a lie for her life.

one might think it's odd for someone to be both empathetic and cynical at the same time, but there are a lot of things about suna that don't make sense. she doesn't trust humans to be good people after everything she's experienced, but that doesn't mean she can't feel sadness for the girl crying in class because of stress, or seeing someone homeless begging in the street. deep down she really does wish all people were good, there's still a small part of her that has hopes for humanity. suna can't help but to be thankful when a situation goes her way or when someone does something genuinely kind for her- she so used to it not happening that way that being anything less but appreciative doesn't make sense to her. that being said, suna is still hesitant when it comes to, well, everything. it's that little voice inside her that tells her bad news, abort abort even if the situation or person is totally harmless. in that sense, you could say suna is bit cowardly- you'll never see her walking alone at night, always planning her schedule so she's in before sunset. she's has a night light in her room to comfort her from the scary darkness, revealing that perhaps some of her childlike innocence isn't as destroyed as much as suna thinks. in fact, suna has one hell of an imagination that goes hand in hand with her tendency to daydream. the girl can be content in silence for hours, because she most likely has an entire fantasy movie of her own creation playing in her head.

suna knows that she comes across rather meek, because to a point, she is. if there was an animal that could describe her it would be a deer, tall and beautiful but constantly on the lookout for danger. she gets anxious about things that may not seem like a big deal to others, such as class presentations, even just walking into a packed classroom in general, sitting next to a stranger on the bus, etc. her paranoia has her imagining the worst outcomes for every possible scenario, some which are eventually forgotten while others keep her up at night making it hard to fall asleep. on a lighter note, suna is the type to find tiny joys throughout the day that distract her from her melancholic disposition. having a sweet, watering and singing to her plants, listening to a fun song- suna isn't the type to take small happiness for granted. in fact if you're paying close attention, you might even hear her whisper thank you cookie, for making my day to the treat before scarfing it down. another little quirk of suna's is that she's a naturally curious bean. if she overhears someone talking about a topic she knows nothing about, you'll see her googling it not even a minute later to satisfy her own curiosity. if she hears music drifting in the air her footsteps would start bringing her to the sound, as if they're moving on their own. if suna is presented something she knows nothing about, she has to learn more about it (with the major exception being schoolwork, unless it's directly related to her music production major). so basically; a sad secret softie with many worries and fears, yet a still lingering curiosity and imagination from her youth, who would do well with someone that can ground her until she can learn to stand on her own two feet (cue jungkook and her dormmates ♡).

BACKGROUND :
⛈ chapter one, the start of everything.
moon suna was born a pisces on a cold rainy night in 1999. she is a product of a one night stand, her mother being a successful single woman who preferred a life without men by her side but indulged every so often, leading to the birth of suna's little sister some time later. her mother is none other than moon junghwa, the head vocal coach of a popular entertainment company- a company that didn't have much when junghwa joined but eventually grew with notoriety after every group they debuted saw success. junghwa went from being the sole vocal teacher to being in charge of every vocal teacher and working personally with the big stars herself. her story is unsurprising to those who know her, moon junghwa was always determined and ambitious. these are the traits she wanted to instill in her daughters, unfortunately leading to a rather cold family relationship as junghwa never really saw warmth and comfort, her eyes were only ever set on success and passing on the lineage. as soon as suna could walk she was receiving vocal lessons daily, the path laid out for her by her mother was to either take over for her or become a huge singer, nothing else would do. and so her childhood and adolescence were spent singing and studying, her every basic need taken care of except for a mother's love, junghwa hiring a nanny when the money really started pouring in. by age 12 suna couldn't tell you her favorite cartoon character ("television is a hinderance, suna.") but she could certainly sing in falsetto with ease. surprisingly, suna actually enjoyed singing, and loved music in general and often found comfort in the classical music jugnhwa had drfiting through the condo.

⛈ chapter two, one little thing can change it all. (tw: toxic boyfriend.)
the time for high school eventually came, and unbeknownst to suna, everything would change. suna was always a quiet girl, you would hear voice more when singing than anything else. however there was still a light in her eye, a slight smile on her lips when walking in the rain, a giggle when jumping in puddles. she daydreamed constantly, her head up in the clouds as she thought of every possible adventure. she had a naive goodness about her, that one may be tempted in taking advantage of. dae seunggi came into her life like a giant tidal wave, eager and friendly but shaking everything up. he was the star jock in her school, popular and well-loved by everyone. after admiring her for awhile he decides to confess and suna accepts, not really finding any reason why, he was nice and handsome. having no experience with love and the only positive relationship in her life being with her sister suhyun, made suna unsure how to navigate her first romance. she missed a lot of red flags, like when she absentmindedly rambles about the cute dog she saw on the way to school and seunggi tells her to shut up, it's unattractive to ramble like that. when suna is singing to a new song she learns and seunggi grumbles that she's giving him a headache and attracting attention. when she arrived to school with blonde hair and seunggi nearly loses his mind, telling her that unassuming colors and styles suit her best, not standing out like some kind of attention . by age 16 she realized that she's not really happy most times with seunggi, but suna hadn't a clue what to do, was this normal? but seunggi tells her he loves her, that he's the only one she can rely on, so suna does nothing.

⛈ chapter three, when it rains it pours.
that is, until spring of junior year. suna was dealing with a lot at home, her mother unimpressed with suna's average grades, how is she supposed to study music in college if she doesn't stand out and get accepted? she watches her sister grow up almost the same way she did, crying at night when junghwa tells suhyun that her singing is terrible, practice again. suna doesn't want suhyun growing up like she did so she becomes a second mother of sorts, showering her sister with love. all of this responsibility paired with seunggi's controlling grip over her has her pushed to the edge. she finally snaps when she witnesses seunggi and some other girl flirting in the halls, suna was supposed to be in the music club but it was cancelled. the couple fight and seunggi is ruthless, projecting everything onto her and hurting her with nasty names. hours later still in tears, after finally realizing all the hurt and toxicity seunggi unloaded onto her over the years, suna decides she has to tell everyone. without her voice, and instead just her words of every time seunggi belittled her and made her feel worthless, typed into a caption on instagram with a plain black image. mostly everyone at school follows her due to her status as the girlfriend of the star basketball player. with a shaky breath, suna hits post, and falls asleep unknowing of the storm she just caused.

⛈ chapter four, dull eyes and quiet nights.
the first time suna kinda uncharacteristically decided to speak up couldn't have ended worse. nobody at school believed her. why would they? it was seunggi that was the most liked, suna far too shy and private to befriend the people she and her boyfriend hung around, and with seunggi's firm denial of everything, it was all the students at school needed to fully support him and mock suna. she was harassed nearly everyday, becoming public enemy number one overnight. from verbal bullying, to shoves and tripping, to finding nasty notes in her locker, suna came home everyday in tears. thankfully summer rolled around fairly quick and suna was enrolled in a summer academy that would help improve her grades. by the time senior started, suna became more like the girl we know today- no more light in her eye, purely melancholic and utterly quiet. senior year was pretty unassuming, seunggi had graduated so suna simply allowed herself to fall in the background, hardly being spoken to and mostly forgotten. she focused more on studying, not because she wanted to, but because her mother was bearing down on her more and more, only easing up a bit when suna was accepted into yeong-ung university. one thing that never changed was suna's love for music and singing, her one and only constant comfort. but instead of singing all the time, her own mother and sister hardly ever heard her sing anymore, suna instead choosing to keep the only good thing in her life (besides her sister) to herself, so that no one can take it away or belittle it ever again.

RELATIONSHIPS : 

⛈ younger sister, light of her life: moon suhyun. — high school student, 16 years old. — naive, playful, sweet, talkative, stubborn, clumsy, impulsive. — despite the two sisters mostly interacting with phone calls since suna started college, they are still closer than ever. "... and then sungjae told me he thought i was annoying, can you believe that? the things i do for that punk! i'm the reason he's passing chem!" / "the nerve of him." / "right?! and then last night, mom said i went off-key a lot, but i'm unsure. i think she's losing it, old age and stuff." / the two girls laugh together, a comfortable silence following shortly after. "unnie, thank you. i needed this!" / "no problem susu. i love you so much." suhyun can and will talk suna's ear off, in fact that's mostly how their phone conversations go. the younger girl looks up to her older sister so much, that she even dyed her hair similar to suna's. she values the support and advice suna gives, and suna has no problem giving her as much as she can. suna's softer side comes out the most with her sister and those who are lucky enough to see suna on the phone with suhyun can tell just how much she loves the younger girl. suna does feel a little pressure to be a good older sister and steer suhyun in the right direction, but it's worth it because suna truly just wants the best for her.

⛈ mentor: amy lee. — head music teacher @ yeong-ung. — while not exactly close, if suna had to pick a favorite teacher, it would be amy for sure. however, suna does get quite annoyed when amy starts asking too many questions about suna to get her to talk about herself and open up. amy just thinks that suna has potential and is wasting it, instead of taking into consideration the possible reasons suna may not feel comfortable singing or talking about herself. despite the occasional tension there, amy is nothing but nice to suna and is always available to answer any questions the young girl has about her classwork and homework. suna goes to amy first for any advice when it comes to music (and perhaps in the future, other things), if she can't see her she'll shoot her an e-mail. "ah, thank you miss lee..." a voice just barely above a whisper remarks. "no problem suna, you know i'm glad to help." amy smiles as she closes out of her faculty e-mail to turn her full attention towards her student. "now, this is for your music demo reel right? let me hear what you have so far..."

⛈ dorm mate, the broken: choi byeol. — suna and byeol have hardly interacted, so suna isn't quite sure what to make of the other girl. she seems so happy despite having one of the busier schedules out of the rest of the dorm. byeol's hardwork and determination is admirable to suna in an i respect it, but it couldn't be me kinda way. sometimes byeol would say a sarcastic comment that would have suna giggling to herself, unless it's directed at her, in which case she would quietly pout. i'm sure if the two actually got around to talking, they would realize that they're actually quite similar in a lot of ways and could probably form a friendship or a mutual understanding.

⛈ dorm mate, the fighter: go jaewon. — like much of the other girls, suna and jaewon don't interact much at first. there's some bribing on jaewon's end, with small talk and snacks, that does result in suna opening up to the other girl over time. suna feels a sense of protection when around jaewon, something that is important to her given that suna is basically scared of everything. suna's love language is sharing her interests, so to show jaewon that suna is appreciative of their budding friendship, suna would invite jaewon to help take care of her pants with her (despite jaewon warning her of her non-existent green thumb). out of all the girls, jaewon is probably the least happy when suna forgives jungkook, and doesn't mind telling suna that to try and protect her. on a positive note, i can totally picture suna excitedly showing jaewon her lolly plushie when she learns that the younger girl likes plushies as well.

⛈ dorm mate, the jock: song ahran. — kinda like suna and byeol, suna and ahran is another case of "if they'd just talk, they'd probably get along!" however, it's a an entirely different ball game with these two. they're put off by each other at first, suna taking it the wrong way when ahran spends her money extravagantly. she doesn't realize ahran is doing it out kindness, it just reads as flaunting to suna, who doesn't really acknowledge her family's wealth and rejects a more luxurious lifestyle. the real kicker is the two kinda realize they have similarities, but they just handle things in entirely different ways to the point that is causes misunderstandings. with suna's growing interest in baseball player jungkook however, she feels compelled to ask ahran, the sportiest girl she knows, about baseball. suna hasn't the slightest idea how sports work, she'd look like an idiot at jungkook's games! it takes her a long time to build up the courage to ask ahran, and when she does, it results in the two talking a lot more and who knows, perhaps the two can get over their differences and become friends.

⛈ dorm mates, overall: (excluding the girls mentioned above) at the start, suna doesn't really know her dorm mates at all. not only is she most likely the quietest, suna is also the least-busy (at first) so she finds herself at the dorm alone more often than not. she doesn't really have any problems with the girls in particular (except for the talkative, who does get on suna's nerve sometimes) so she'll try and do nice things when she can, like cleaning the dorm top to bottom and buying some extra pastries for the other girls, leaving them on the counter though instead of giving them face to face. after experiencing a crazy year together, i can picture the girls growing closer and forming a bond. i think suna is more likely to get on with the nerd and perhaps the wallflower. 

LIFE IN YEONG-UNG

NORMAL SCHOOL SCHEDULE : 

⛈ suna's behavior in class really just depends on what class it is. if it's for her music production major, suna is more likely to be alert and participating, taking notes but hardly ever volunteering to answer questions because she's not comfortable doing so. she's more likely to be actively involved in things she finds interesting. which is why she usually has her headphones in and her head in the clouds when it comes to her general study classes. she doesn't completely bomb those classes, not really wanting to deal with the backlash from her mother. suna just does the bare minimum, the opposite of her good grades in her music studies. her teachers often times forget she's even there, which is great because she's hardly ever called on to do stuff. with the exception of amy lee, the teachers only acknowledge the name 'moon suna' when they're grading work. her classmates for the most part leave her alone, though she does get the occasional stare and can sometimes hear whispers like "who is that?" "was she here yesterday? i've never seen her before" "why is she so quiet..." outside of class, suna doesn't really do much. she carries her switch in her bag, so you'll either spot her playing some games under a shady tree, attending the music club, or just hanging out in the dorm. 

EXTRA-CURRICULARS : 

⛈ music club: suna is the ghost of the music club. she joined at the persistence of amy lee, and stayed for the easy access to music producing equipment. while there, she's usually just doing her own thing, using the equipment for her homework or for fun. suna doesn't show up if she's not in the mood to be around other people, and she'll conveniently get "sick" when the music club is asked to provide music for school events. she will stay after the club is over just to have some quiet singing time alone. the other club members don't even regard her at this point, kinda getting the hint that suna prefers being on her own.

DORM LIFE : 

⛈ suna never really got assigned a role in the dorm, most likely because she doesn't talk to anyone, but she notices how busy a lot of the girls are compared to her fairly lax schedule, so she does clean as often as she can (but mostly when the other girls aren't there). her room is filled with plants and flowers, and is kinda an organized chaos. it's clean, but suna just has stuff everywhere, mostly school papers and books that appear to be thrown around without a care. suna is also responsible for a lot of the plants outside of her dorm. the other girls often times will notice a new plant but not really think much of it, just chalking it up to the quiet girl doing her quiet things. suna is in her room 99% of the time, taking care of her plants, daydreaming, playing on her switch, working on schoolwork, making some or listening to music, or watching something on disney+. she'll occasionally practice her singing, but only if she's the only one in the dorm. 

LIFE OUTSIDE OF YEONG-UNG : 

⛈ thanks to an allowance from her mother, suna doesn't have a job of any kind. she doesn't really have a reason to leave campus often, her main motives being food and sweets, but she does take the occasional walk while listening to her music. suna loves going to street vendors and getting the tastiest, unhealthiest food she can find, and bakeries know her as the girl who loves cookies and muffins. she'll order a lot of nice pastries from the bakery and bring them home to the dorm, eating what she wants and leaving the rest on the counter for any of the girls to take if they wish. she does most of her shopping alone, but occasionally suna will run into the city if there's something she needs right away (or is too impatient to wait for). when jungkook enters her life, she ventures into the city more often to spend time with him, though mostly to eat if we're being honest.

COMMENTS : not me feeling like a hag when trying to write a young girl who dresses like an e-girl. i'm so sorry if that part is cringy to read i'm only 24 but i feel 70 when it comes to trends. i also hope you don't mind i aged jk down a year, his current age would work but i think i would prefer suna and him being a bit closer in age, so that's why i did that. i (also) hope that her background isn't too dark, my mind just kinda went racing after reading the mysterious plotline but i tried to tone it down so that it fit the theme of the story while also explaining the reason she's the way she is today. in the funfacts section in the love interest part, those are just little tid-bits to give you an idea of what they're like, i don't expect them all to be used in the story!! anyway, i really love this story idea, i never went to any of my school dances so i will be living vicariously through the characters while reading the story, hehe.
