❥ an unexpected side of his is his skillful use of his hands to fix and repair stuff. having been a boy scout as a kid, rouhan acquired all the scoutcraft then graduating with a degree in electrical engineering, he gained technical knowledge. combining all those skills this makes him… the unofficial handyman of the island? he’ll definitely nag your ears off and complain non-end and refuse, but you’ll find him doing the job if asked to.
❥ then finally, rouhan is very capable and intelligent, with a high iq of 142. he’s excellent at long-range planning, generating ideas, and creating solid plans of actions to implement. however, don’t count on him to use his brain to willingly help others, he’ll only do so if he absolutely had to. so, to strangers rouhan just seems like a sour grouch but little do they know that he’s a top graduate of korea university’s college of engineering.
for 11 years of his life, rouhan’s been raised in an orphanage along with his younger twin sister meiqi, back in beijing, china. he’d grown to be independent to take care of himself and his sister, harsh to veer away the bullies, and cynical to not disappoint himself of the life he came to accept was fated to him. however, he did not expect the old owner of the orphanage to come to him and his sister one day informing them that they’ve been finally adopted by a rich heiress in south korea, yoo jookyung.
so, flying 600 miles away to his new “home” and now adopted mother, it took a while for rouhan to adjust. while he did come to know that the only reason his mother adopted them was because the woman didn’t want to marry and just wanted to focus on her career and this was her way of shutting up her parents who pestered her for wanting grandkids, the language barrier was what bothered him. his mom knew mandarin, so they were able to converse, but for the twins to adapt with the society as well, she brought in a special tutor to teach them to speak korean.
after a year of special language classes and home schooling with the best tutors, jookyung enrolled them into regular schooling and into the mercy of other teenagers. even until then, rouhan hasn’t processed the fact that they went from rags to riches. and while meiqi seems to have quickly grasped and loves that they now can get whatever they ever dreamt of before, rouhan still found it weird and was hesitant to ask for anything. he saw how jookyung, despite her intentions of adopting them, genuinely tried to be of a mother to them. so, he slowly started to let his guard down with her and came to view the older lady as a reliable maternal figure.
high school wasn’t much to rouhan. he was the unapproachable lone wolf top student of his grade, going to scoring in the top 5% of the nation in the university entrance examinations. he’s always been the smart twin and his mother expected a bright future from him and even someday to take over her smart technology empire. thus, to live up to his mother’s expectation, he enrolled for electrical engineering when he got into korea university. after he was done with his bachelor, han immediately dived in to get a master in business admin.
as five draining years passed by with rouhan graduating from ku and getting a mba, he was the apple of his mother’s eye. that is until he decided to now rebel and wanted to take a break and figure out what he actually wanted to do in life, breaking his mother’s plan of him training in the company to be the next heir. he always gave in to what she wanted to please his mother as he thought he owed her after all for she provided a life for him and his sister that he never imagined he ever would. but no more. he decided to be selfish for now and do what he wants.
so, when meiqi came to him with this insanely irrational idea of moving into this unknown newly established island with her as a runaway from their now constantly irate mother and the loud city, he decided to seize this as an opportunity to be free and be in a quiet place where he can pounder his next life choices.
is he going to regret his decision? he definitely would. but is he going to still enjoy this experience? he’ll never admit to it.

jookyung, despite adopting them with an agenda and the tough love she showcases, means well and never treated the twins any less like her own and rouhan knows that and for that he will forever be grateful to her. that is also why he felt like he owed to give his mom something in return for the life she gave them which is why he took it upon himself to be the ideal heir she wanted. he was academically gifted, so it wasn’t that difficult of a task for him, achieving what he did. however, he did slowly find himself being miserable and hating the path he destined upon himself to make his mom proud. he used to dismiss the displeasure he felt inside upon seeing his mother’s proud gaze and smile until it all became too much to just ignore anymore. he, for the first time, combusted and decided to live his life for himself now and figure out what he wants to do, what makes him happy and satisfied. the talk with his mom when he told her didn’t go well with the two arguing about his next plan of action. which ended with an explosion with rouhan exclaiming that his plan is to not have a plan. it’s unlike himself but his mother irked him to the point where he decided to do the exact opposite of what she wants him to do. after that, rouhan’s relationship with his mom became tense. no longer was the natural affection there and was replaced with formal and if not awkward conversations. jookyung became easily prone to getting angry at every little indecision he makes and that is slowly driving him insane. so…. one can say that his mother drove him to move to a deserted island :)

rouhan’s relationship with his twin sister is twisted. the two were stuck to the hip when they were at the orphanage with rouhan playing the reliable protective sibling role to his ditzy naïve sister. the two weren’t super close but rather just relied on one another as they only fully trusted each other. their relationship did become distant after they got adopted as the two siblings no longer needed to rely on each other. as meiqi got into fashion, baking, and pop culture, rouhan found it harder to exchange conversations with her as they didn’t share common interests. meiqi liked going out and doing activities that required moving while rouhan preferred staying indoors and working on brain training games. the siblings were just too different. he actually didn’t mind the change and just dismissed it as he thought he did his job as an older brother when she needed him. however, after one particular incident, it caused the final drift between the two. in summer camp 2011, on the last day, the camp would gather both the boys and girls scouts together for a friendly competition. while doing archery, meiqi’s friends, seeing how good she is, dared her to shoot at the target that’s on the boys’ side from her place. taking on the challenge, meiqi aimed at the target and when she let go of her arrow, rouhan then unknowingly walked towards the target and that’s when the arrow scathed the left side of his face. as his face bled and the other kids yelled for help from the supervisors, rouhan was rushed to the hospital. there, he got stitches and was told that he’ll have a permanent scar. what rouhan can’t forget though was his mother’s words as she saw his scar. she caressed his face as she said, “oh my baby, you now have an imperfection.” ever since, rouhan worked his off to make up for his “imperfection”. after that incident, rouhan truly became indifferent and closed himself off from his sister. he rebuilt a wall between them as he thought his sister’s selfishness just won’t change. what mostly affected him though is the fact that meiqi not only didn’t apologize for permanently scaring his face but never even once showed any signs of remorse for it. she just went on with her life like nothing happened. so ever since, rouhan decided to just focus on himself and acted aloof towards her, but he’s bugged that he still has a soft spot for her.

jungkook had only heard of rouhan back in high school as the grumpy prodigy and they’ve crossed paths in school, though never initiated any conversation as they both had no reason to. so, when kook heard that han was coming to his island he was genuinely surprised as he thought that the other would’ve been working in a big company by now or doing something big. he was confused as to why the school genius and heir to a huge tech corporation is unemployed and willingly choosing to go into isolation. with that thought aside, jungkook decided as the mayor of the island to befriend and get to know every islander with rouhan being no exception. however, he came to realize that indeed the other guy is a tough cookie with a hell of a potty mouth that seemingly seems to work its motors around him. with that, they start to develop a bickering relationship where han is never satisfied or disagrees a lot with what kook says or does and kook is just ain’t having it with the other and retaliates. rouhan internally actually respects jungkook for being his age, owning an island, and building a society out of it, like that takes a bold person to take a challenge and do something like that. though he’ll never express that out loud of course and still thinks that jungkook is annoying and only has the title of “mayor” due to him owning the island when it makes more sense to him for namjoon to be mayor instead and you betcha kook has heard that plenty from han.

jin: every time seokjin cracks a dad joke, han’s response would be dry and most of the time his reply would be harsh like “was i supposed to laugh to that?” or “you just wasted 1 minute of my time on your lame joke”. overall, the two just don’t vibe and han just visits the clinic when he really needs to.

yoongi: the two heads a lot due to their similar personalities. neither would take from the other which causes them to argue. so, han limits his interactions with the older guy.
hoseok: han thinks that the guy has to be on drugs because no one can normally be this cheerful and chirpy even early in the morning. every time he receives a package from a gleeful hoseok, he can’t help but glower even more.
namjoon: rouhan frequents the aquarium in the museum to drop off his newest catch. when namjoon wants to share a fun fact about the fish rouhan would always cut him off with a “no” but namjoon doesn’t take han’s response personally and just excitedly tells him “if you ever catch a new fish, you know where to come!”
taehyung: honestly, the two seldomly interact for han has little to no interest in electronics. however, when they do, it’s one-sided with taehyung blabbing about random events in his life and han trying to ignore the other guy’s existence.
funny thing is that despite han’s very unlikeable personality, mostly everyone in the island pay little mind or ignore him and the he says as per meiqi’s wiseful advice on how to deal with rouhan.

❥ the islanders jokingly pick rouhan up so he can join them in their little fun in the beach, despite his thrashing and yelling insults (secretly panicking), only to have him almost drown.

final comments: i've been obsessed with acnh ever since i got my hands on a switch a year back but sadly stopped as life and studies got busy. then seeing this applyfic updated after i subscribed to it months back got me started on this app (which i hope you like) and back to playing acnh and checking on my villagers! got me a whole pissed speech by pierce for being away too long lmao anyways, i'm so excited for this fic and can't wait for it to start!!
