— alright, before y’all question my priorities — yes, i do have better things to do in my life. in fact, i would much rather catch up on some much-needed sleep than write about my of a best friend (yes, conan. i’m still mad at you for siding with jace instead of me #the greatest betrayal of my life). however, i was promised free food in exchange for my honest opinion, and i could never refuse such luxuries. so, sit back, relax, and perhaps grab some popcorn. this is going to be long and entertaining.  

— while his first impressions are good, his second impressions usually make him look like an airhead. it doesn't take an expert to figure that conan is not that outgoing of a person; while he prefers his alone time by himself or with close friends, he meshes well in crowded settings too. at least i think he does. sure, he mostly goes through it with a drink in his system, but i believe he’s a switching ambivert according to his mood. conan naturally tends to show more of his personality the more he gets to know people. we end up sharing one braincell in his extroverted mood. i believe that’s just his way to let loose and blow some steam from time to time. man that side of him is my favorite. he's the type of person that's easy to approach and get along with. though not as much as i am, he's a people magnet. he’s got the natural charm that attracts others to him and while he says it makes him uncomfortable, i know he secretly likes it, he can’t fool me. the soft, genuine and good-natured smile etched on conan’s face makes it impossible for one to walk past without at least nodding in acknowledgment. 

— which brings me to my next point. he's rather liked by the majority, yes, that conan is aware of. the constant compliments he receives from everyone tend to get into his head. conan’s ego is... kind of huge, to say the least. it's subtle, though. he'll blush at anyone who calls him kim woobin, but if the person next to him got called ing song joongki, flames of disbelief and envy would flash through his eyes. just for a second, if you look closely. he tries not to appear arrogant, so it's not a trait the world knows all too well. still, there are multiple instances where i myself have witnessed how self-important he can be — i mean, the fact that he literally asked me to write a paper about himself kind of tells all, don't you think?  

— conan’s creative in a way. he's got some brilliant ideas which comes really in handy all the time. though his thoughts are always so scattered, so i couldn't really blame him for being stuck inside his mind often. he's learnt to deal with his brain clutter through outlets; journal writing, where he scribbles down his random thoughts and ideas and then later on turn the abstract themes into reality. sometimes, he films talk sessions through instagram live, where the thoughts he shares are more open and emotional rather than humorous — “there’s this line from the drama ‘suspicious partner’. “not everything that begins progresses. some things stop as soon as they begin because every beginning is frightening.” yeah, i felt that.”

— speaking of which, he's soft and sentimental, yes, but conan has a temper. he snaps easily, but his angry face is so cute, our squad are always teasing him just to see it. no one takes conan’s fits seriously, for despite him disowning us ten times a day, we all know he doesn't mean it. poor kid's just sensitive and acting on his feelings of anger.

— he can be critically honest when it comes to his thoughts. like if you showed up to class looking like , chances are he'd say you look like . no sugarcoating. he says what he wants. it's kind of hilarious actually. kian munson once asked us for our opinion regarding on the first date but conan literally went on a half-hour rant about how he should stop his boi tendencies and actually develop a genuine and intimate relationship with the girl for once. a lot of harsh words were said, but jackass needed the wake up call. it was great. 

— conan wang would make a great actor. his facial expressions are so authentic. when he feels a certain way, he really makes it clear. obviously, he's the type to be serene and satisfied most of the time, but you can tell from one glance if he isn't feeling blissful. conan doesn't hide his emotions; if he's upset with someone, he'd openly let them know. he wasn't particularly shy with his frustration at me after i curiously went through his thoughts journal, after all. though that’s not to say that he’s open about his emotions no matter the expense. if it’s for the sake of maintaining or keeping peace in a friendship he cares for, poor boy would hide his true feelings. he once despised jace’s ex-girlfriend but he never told our baby as to avoid any conflict. plus, our boy seemed happy at that time, so i guess he thought that it’s not his place to break it.

— oh, and did i mention how much of a ing child he is? conan relies on his gut instincts more than anything else and if things don’t go his way, he’d sulk, pout, and becomes grumpy. that aside, people think i’m wild when they see me, but this boy is something else. while calm majority of the time, he does have his moments where his calm exterior breaks. one strong instance is whenever he and raymond chiu are in close proximity to each other. for some unknown reason, all of conan’s friendliness haywires when it comes to his childhood… enemy? he utterly refuses to let me write him as friend. all the sass and insults come in full force without filter.

— he's also a smartass? and i mean that in the best way possible. his brain literally saves us from our stupidity. unlike most of us who make dumb decisions on instinct (*cough* leia and i *cough*), he actually thinks about the consequences. conan, he's clever and it scares me sometimes. he tends to use it to his advantage, and he can be pretty sneaky. he's not manipulative though, as he finds no reason to be.

— conan, bro, i'm not even sorry. this whole 'thesis' is entirely honest and unfiltered. i've known you for sixteen years, so i've observed your character more than long enough to say that my analysis is accurate. if anyone who isn't conan is reading this, well, i've opened your eyes. still want to date conan wang after hearing about his ups and downs? if so, you definitely deserve my bestie and soulmate.
 

BACKGROUND
Format however you wish, but do explain why your character is studying at New York University.

— born in san francisco, california, conan was brought into the world as the second and youngest son. his father is chinese while his mother is korean. his mother already had a son from her late husband when she met his father but that didn’t stop the couple from falling in love and his father treated her son like his own.

— his parents are both educators; mother is a school counselor and father is a professor at usfca. despite that, they never pressured their sons into following their footsteps and instead pushed them into pursuing their own dreams. they are good parents and always spent time with conan and his older brother when they were free and back from work. even though their parents were barely around, they had family friends living in the same neighborhood or in close proximity. so the two sons weren't necessarily lonely when their parents weren't around.

— he lived in a neighborhood two blocks away from chinatown. it is fairly small and because of that everyone knew each other and are acquainted. so when a new family moved into the house across from conan’s, news traveled fast. but what excited conan was knowing that they had a kid his age. so when he spotted the boy carrying the boxes containing their furniture and items, he rushed and offered to help the boy. and that’s how he helped his new neighbor settle in and unpack. the boy whom he got to know, henry lei, wasn’t like the other kids in their neighborhood. the two boys immediately clicked and understood each other. they shared many likes, dislikes, and weird ways of thinking. so, conan really took a liking to the boy and spent most, if not all, of his time with him and likewise. from then, conan and henry became inseparable, to the point conan’s parents and brother got used to the presence of henry around their house and similarly. they’d go around doing stupid and silly stuff together, rightfully earning the childhood nickname of ‘the dumb duo’ from will, conan’s older brother.

CLUBS AND SOCIETIES 
— nyu asian american student association | conan never intended to join the club in the first place cause he feels out of place when it comes to the asian culture. "join and connect with your roots. it'll be fun! plus your mom will soften up on ya when she knows." henry convinced him. and so while he did join with no expectations, conan actually found himself enjoying his time as a member. now four years in, he literally does the bare minimum as a standing committee member under the relations arm. yes he does slack off and laze around but once committed to a task (after getting an earful from one of the executive members), he'd make sure to finish it with satisfying results which is the only reason he's not kicked off as a standing member yet ^^"

— nyu current events | it was a tough competition getting into current events, though it was expected with it being a popular club and all. but with his skills, he was able to join and be part of the family. (club exp) conan was assigned as a journalist reporter once he joined. it took him some time to get used to and open up to the members, but now he considers them as his friends. the strong smell of coffee lingering in the air, anika constantly nagging the slackers, mateo having a one-man party in his zone, exchanging joking jabs and insults with hazel, aiden’s bright eye smiles, and kyle binge watching breaking bad instead of working; these are all things that conan loves about ce. though he’d gladly stuff a tissue into casey’s mouth every time she’d ramble about the latest gossips in campus. he hears enough from henry.

LIFESTYLE
— for people like conan, fixed routines are non-existent. he does whatever he feels like in the moment. usually, in his free time, he'd either be in his apartment spending some alone time reading or watching something, with henry planning for their next video, gaming with jace, or outside or wherever simply hanging out with friends. he really doesn’t care where they hang out as long as he’s comfortable and close with the company he’s with. though with henry and jace, they usually go out for dinner during the weekend. also, he’s dedicated to movie nights with his apartment mates. they’d snuggle in their living room sofa with popcorn and drinks and watch the week’s chosen movie. they have a really long list of movies-to-watch they pick from every week. the movies range from action to horror to mystery to chick-flicks to animation. so don’t be surprised if they watch terminator this week and bridesmaids the following week. *whispers* conan actually enjoys chick-flicks though he’d never admit it *whispers*

— he's definitely not a morning bird so he usually opts for afternoon classes. however, when he has no option, he’d dreadingly take morning classes which he’d usually be late for or arrive right at the last second. as for clubs, he’s part of two: the nyu aasa and ce. for ce, a discussion meeting is held in the first week of the month where each member is assigned a topic and task. then members are free to come as they please to work (as long as they finish their task by end of month) but unofficially most of them, including a cranky conan, come on thursday from 10 am to 12 pm. they usually pull nighters at the end of the months to wrap up the overall news before publishing. as for aasa, he attends the committee meetings that are held on tuesday from 6.30 till 8 pm but for the general sessions he'd join occasionally according to his mood and energy. “oh conan! it’s good to see you’ve graced us with your presence” jace would often when he does.

— near midterms/finals week, he'd be spotted pulling all-nighters in the 24/7 library close by the campus. though with the company of henry and jace, it’s not to say the boys spend every second studying. conan and henry often get side-tracked and their breaks are longer than their study time with jace scolding them to be quiet and focus. jace always tells them that this is the last time he joins their 'study session' but he always ends up coming with them. conan knows that their responsible friend won't feel assured leaving the two alone which is the only reason he always accompanies them. conan also picked up henry’s bad habit of midnight snacking. so, having a table full of snacks like ramen, sour patch, oreo, various chips, cheez it and etc while studying is a given.

— as for parties and nightclubs, conan rarely goes to them as he’d rather spend his time snuggling in bed with a book than be in a crowd surrounded by drunk, smelly,  people. though when he does get dragged into them by henry, he’d chug some alcohol into his system to be able to tolerate the noisy atmosphere he’s in and from there drunk conan takes over and is different. when he’s drunk, he’s wilder and more carefree so only then would he be in the dance floor cranking some moves, joining in drinking games, and everything that goes on there. smoking? he’d tried it. drugs? an experience he’d rather never try again. hooking up? check and he always wakes up with a flirty note left by them the next morning which he disregards. he actually barely remembers whatever he does in parties after a couple drinks.
