cheon maru is a born and raised resident of hoyang, seoul. he grew up with an ordinary life, an ordinary household within a neighbourhood where everyone knows each other well. it's this tight-knit feeling between the residents of hoyang that caused him to feel proud of his upbringings. maru grew up being the flower boy of the neighbourhood, many of the girls at his schools would give him snacks, letters, and drinks as a form of confession when valentine or the school sports festival comes around at his school. yes, maru was quite the eye candy but it's worth noting that he grew up to become a very quick-learning and clever student.
maru is the type that knew what he wanted to do as a grown-up early in his life and has confidence in achieving it. he wants to grow up with the ability to design a house for his entire family to live in when they're all older. that's why he wanted to become an architect since he was twelve and also the reason how he got to where he is now.

(maru bows and gulps before talking, jadu had always been the one who intimidated him a bit) it's nice to meet you, i'm cheon maru, i'm twenty years old and i'm currently an architecture major.
why do you want to work here?
i need some pocket money for my daily living expenses and i've always preferred working at a cafe or coffee shop than a convenience store or k-bbq joint.

maru is currently a freshman year student, majoring in architecture at konkuk university. he's taking the following courses over his freshman year: computer, basic statistics, architectural spacial planning, basic studio, physics and experiment, mathematics and practice. knowing that he won't need to take summer classes, maru will try to balane having fun with his friends while taking up a part-time job to double up on his pocket money (and to be able to make money of his own).
★ weekdays
7Am - 8am ─ the time span in which he'll wake up, take a shower, and get dressed. a quick breakfast is an option for him as he usually has to rush himself to campus.
9am - 4pm ─ the time span in which he'll have classes on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays. he'll have lunch with his friends too within this time span.

the choi parents:
maru has been in close range of the choi parents before as he has had experience of working at dkml during the previous summer rotation period. he always looks at the couple fondly because it reminds him of his own household. he admires mr. choi's affection that oozes from his eyes towards his wife and sometimes, he gets quite jealous that he hasn't experienced what it's like to develop feelings for someone yet. he wonders how it'd feel and when looking at the couple, it makes him want to find a love of his own.
the mongdu siblings:
through the past rotation period, maru got to witness the mongdu siblings bicker and banter all the time. it made him wonder whether or not it's normal for siblings to fight that often if they're in the same space for too long since he and his sister are very civil with each other. he was and probably still is very intimidated by jadu from the first time he saw her because of her gaze and chic looks. on the other hand, jamong and him are quite like the mother and son combination because jamong has really taken a liking or a soft spot for maru. after the seasonal rotation ended, jamong still kept in touch with maru and sometimes, buys him some meals. maru doesn't know why jamong is really fond of him but then again, he'd rather not ask the reason.
of course, the mongdu siblings bickering or trying to piss each other through each other's magic tricks will cause maru to catch on with the whole magic gist (in fact, he probably already did the last time he worked at dkml) but since he's only at the cafe for a job and to earn some extra cash, he'll choose to turn the other way and not really care much or fuss about it.

maru's own household, the cheons as they've come to name their family kakao group chat, consists of his tax consultant father cheon inho (52), dentist choi mirim (50), and online shopping website owner cheon goeun (23).
his father is his role model as in maru's eyes, he's always playing by the rules, gave him wisdom, and tried his best to be at his important moments. he remembered how his father had taken a leave to help his mother directly raise him. the reason maru's into cycling was because his father was the one who taught him how to ride a bike. his mother can be considered his first love as she was the one who raised him to be who he is today. despite having to juggle work and co-raise him. he loves his mother so much and he wants to be able to pay her back with his success.
