history. born as the third generation of immigrants, it's easy to pinpoint her birthplace and hometown from her name. she spent all her pre-college life in brooklyn and her family is in the middle class so they had enough to be debt-free and pay the bills. their elderly grandparets lived with them and under her two parents, she and her brother had to handle the tough love asian parents were accustomed to. their grandparents helped them keep in touch with their korean heritages through retelling stories of their memories about the country and teaching them korean words as well as reminding them to speak the language in the house.

her parents both work in the media and publishing industry so she and her older brother have been exposed to the scenes and process of their work from a young age. her brother became inspired to major in something of the information technology branch in college while she took a more creative approach to her major as she chose to major in visual communication design. 

education. after facing rejection from one of new york's top colleges, she saw a glimmer of hope when she got an acceptance letter from her second choice university in los angeles. her parents, not wanting their daughter to be scarred, urged her to take it. that led her to where she is now, a senior in college whose currently majoring in visual communication design. she's classified in the higher ranks in her batch as she tries her best to excel.

she does have her parents pay for her tuition and she feels bad for not making it easier for them. she could've saved so much if she had gotten into a college in new york but what was done was done. she doesn't get an allowance like her brother so she goes around making money by editing videos for people who need it for their social medias or assignments. she does secretly receive allowance from her brother who yielded a fair share of his allowance to her. as her brother started working straight after college and now receives a comfortable wage, he agreed to secretly help her with her finances without the knowledge of their parents because he only wants the best for her and knows too well about her tough times being in los angeles away from her family and friends.

expectation. it's almost going to be two years since she started being aaron's art director and video editor. she told her parents straight away because she hopes that with this information, they could be proud of her in some way. they were. she's been getting some money from when she went around editing videos for others and now, from editing aaron's videos. she plans to continue with the role as she does need the money. academically, she wishes to make it to graduation and after that, she'll go back to new york and try to do some job-searching there while juggling her role to aaron.

there's just something that draws you to brooklyn. she has an approachable aura to her and there's always politeness in the way she'll treat everyone and the mannered gestures she shows often cause others to warm up to her. there's always this well-behaved attitude she shows in front of those older than her. as a natural-born leader, she recognizes herself as a team player and recognizes that she should be able to listen and note other people's opinions even if they contradict with her own. every time she's stuck or having a creative block, she will admit that she doesn't have the answers to all of their concerns. she's open to store constructive criticism for the team. even if she has to deal with a disagreement, she has the ability to be able to convey her honesty in a non-offensive way. she starts things by voicing her respect and communicates in a way that is never distasteful to anyone's ears. she preserves many of her relationships with others through this and it causes her to be painted as a good leader during group assignments or discussions. all this is due to her charisma. she's that sort of girl that introduces herself in class on the first day without looking nervous at all and when you're seated next to her, she helps build the conversation so that you'd be comfortable. she'd encourage you to stay optimistic and see the good side of things. then, if you happen to face failure at some point, she'll remain cheerful and inject some positivity for you and encourage you to bounce back from negativity. it comes from her emotional intelligence that causes her to easily get on with people and keep the grin on her face. she knows how to read the room and nothing ever seems awkward or mistimed with her. 

seeing herself as a leader in various situations, brooklyn takes it upon herself to feel other's problems as her own and doesn't pay enough attention to her own needs. it's as if she has a button inside her that causes her to switch "off" to focus on other people. she tries to build bridges for everyone to cross that she forgets to listen and recognize what she needs to build for herself. there is an "on" button that can help switch her into set aside a time for herself and to practice self-care. harnessing a lot of her energy to navigate through criticism, it seems too easy for her to take it a little too close to the heart. she cares a lot about what others think of her and is swept with disappointment towards herself whenever the critiques come in. of course, she knows that the criticism for the overall synergy of the team doesn't mean that it's targetted to her but she values her position in the team so badly that she takes it too personally and all this is eventually bottled up until it reaches maximum capacity. she knows just about everyone and everything about everyone but it's hard to tell if anyone knows anything about her. she never bursts into anger and if she does, it's the quiet anger where you will never know when it begins or ends or the depth of her rage. it's definitely certain that she wants someone to ask her about herself. she wants or necessarily needs someone to recognize her pains through her hints but it rarely happens. there are consequences she thinks of when making decisions but the ones hardest decisions to make are the major ones. it's almost impressive how she's able to think up many possibilities and outcomes for each choice. she's just so afraid of making the wrong decision because she knows she'll only blame and be disappointed with herself. every time there's even a tiny amount of people who disagrees with her, she hesitates because she wants to preserve the consensus and harmony in the room.

she met aaron after moving to los angeles as fellow sophmores at a party. they both clicked through conversations of music as an art and brooklyn's interest in video editing. they became closer and aaron asked for her help with filming his song covers. through these occurances, she gave him a lot of tips and showed a lot of enthusiasm whenever she helped him. aaron ended up asking brooklyn to become his 'art director' who can help him create concepts and direct the filming of his mv-like cover songs. on a daily basis, they're often seen meeting up somewhere to discuss aaron's youtube contents and when they take a break, they share a portion of their personal lives to each other. although, brooklyn does tell him a lot that if it weren't for his youtube channel, she would've never thought of becoming friends with him. it hurts aaron but he can't deny that it was probably true anyways.

the assistant to will, aaron's best friend, the two contact each other a lot as they run through each other about will and aaron's schedule to film videos together. not that brooklyn is aaron's assistant but ava asks her because brooklyn knows his filming schedules, just in case she catches aaron lying about how much free time he has on his hands. when will and aaron meet and they start filming their videos, brooklyn seeks sanity and calmness in ava as ava is in charge for keeping everyone far from jail. brooklyn always facepalms whenever will and aaron are together so she sticks with ava because she simply cannot with those two. over the course of time, the two girls bond through this and they're pretty close. 

roommate, best friends ✈  KOHARU NAGAHARA  (22) 9/10

her current roommate, koharu is such a sweetheart. brooklyn can't seem to find anything to critize about koharu, even if they don't have much in common. koharu's politeness and tidiness warms brooklyn every time and it causes her to always take care of koharu. she'd always surprise her roommate with her favorite matcha latte or her favorite pastry and the look on koharu's face is adorable. it's also always nice when koharu compliments her video editing skills. koharu, as her roommate, will always notice brooklyn's mood and ask her with her cat eyes to tell her. brooklyn caves and they bond a lot over those conversations. they don't have similar tastes but koharu's such a nice girl that it doesn't really matter to brooklyn. when brooklyn goes to youcon, koharu will be the one she texts about the day-to-day events and brooklyn will be looking forward to buy a souvenir for her nice and adorable roommate.

being only a year apart, hudson is often teasing or joking around with her but knows when to be genuinely concerned and does take care of her when it matters. considering the fact that their parents are the typical asian household parents, they do have several things they keep from their parents that they only tell each other. it's always nice to have an ally in the household so why fight your siblings when you can team up? although, there are several of hudson's dumb decisions will lead brooklyn to facepalm as she can't believe she's related to the guy. upon brooklyn's arrival back in the big apple for youcon, her brother hudson will be glad she's back in town. he's not going to youcon but perhaps brooklyn can stay at his place during youcon to save money and they'll be able to hang out and have their own adventures around town whenever brooklyn's not reporting for duty to aaron's channel.

the two first met during one of aaron's filming schedules as aaron told brooklyn of his collaboration with stella a few months before brooklyn became her art director. he told her that stella was very interested in learning from her, considering brooklyn's major. ever since they met, brooklyn enjoys giving stella tips on filming and editing. she'd even help out with stella's filming whenever she's free from aaron's schedules. stella doesn't ask for help first so she always welcomed brooklyn's offers to help her filming or teach her firsthand some editing techniques. as the one who arranges aaron's schedule, stella will always go to brooklyn to ask about her future collaborations with aaron. when not absorbed by the filming and editing life, the two do enjoy going on coffee dates and talk about a lot of topics together. brooklyn enjoys having her picture taken by stella who is a skilled photographer. the two blend in well as they both enjoy to plan ahead, although brooklyn notices that stella's direct way of conveying her thoughts have affected her and appreciates her efforts to be more verbally cautious around her. brooklyn always have her arms open for stella.

brooklyn used to only know mia by name and face as the best friend of one of her classmates, lucy kim. lucy had introduced the two to each other while they were discussing about a group project. lucy noted that they could get along well and as lucy noted, they did. brooklyn makes mia less shy and they have fun talking to each other even if at first, mia was quite jealous of brooklyn's close relationship with aaron whom she had a crush on since high school. all became well again after brooklyn tells mia about matthias, to which mia loved to . she noticed mia's crush on aaron quickly and after finding out about mia's secret youtube identity, encourages her to reveal her identity to aaron to no avail. brooklyn does make efforts to get the two closer together and promises mia that she'll help her the best she can, especially with youcon coming up to shake the dynamics between mia and aaron.

as the art director to aaron's youtube content, brooklyn is the one he meets up to conceptualize his videos and gives him advice on how to have a clear delivery of his music's message. she takes care of the storyboard of his mv-level song covers and in response to his ideas and visions, she'll give him possible basic budget, styles, and techniques which will keep being discussed until they both reach an agreement to the strategy. once it's clear, she'll come up with a basic storyboard or sketch that include details and elements along with the rough filming schedule to the deadline aaron decides.

when aaron gives her his thumbs up, she'll be there to oversee the video filming and help direct it. she monitors expenses and makes sure nothing bothers the original budget. with her video editing skills, she'll coordinate with aaron who will review the draft versions and tell her what he wants. anything in aaron's channel that needs a video will go through this process before it's uploaded on his channel. aaron gives brooklyn her credits in the description box. she won't make an appearance on camera as aaron's channel is dedicated to his music. although, she makes frequent appearance on his instagram story and is tagged in his official account for her editing or photo-taking credits or during behind-the-scenes content. many ship them as a couple because the photos they upload of each other are very cute and their interactions are very funny. through this, brooklyn has her own growing fanbase and many ask if brooklyn is ever going to open her own channel for her work. she personally has no intention to.

the reason why aaron asked brooklyn to be a staff to his youtube channel was because she really clicked with him on several creative views. meeting brooklyn was great timing for aaron as he wanted some help in editing as he's already immersed in producing his music and his studies at the same time. he could use someone who had the skills and was willing to devote their time to the job so that he could split the workload. brooklyn was more than willing to accept because she had her reasons. this could help her get some money and gain some experience. aaron was very serious with his music and she liked that fire in him. he seemed like a guy who meant what he says so she wanted to take the job.    

preparations. she automatically has an entry ticket to all three days, being a part of aaron's staff and all. when asked if she would attend panels, she thinks that she'd rather not attend such in favor of spending time with her family and friends. she doesn't plan to buy any other packages offered by youcon.

plans. she will be at the convention according to aaron's schedule and be there help him film a behind-the-scene youcon convention video or a neatly filmed version of his miniature concert during his half hour panel, whatever video aaron suggests really. she'll have to be wherever he is during youcon so she's honestly not interested in returning to the youcon when she's not working as she'd like to visit her family and go around the city as she used to before she went to college in los angeles. or maybe, go on casual dates with matthias while completely ignoring aaron's calls.

✈ to say the least, matthias sung can blend in with any crowd. he's a good-natured, peace-loving and optimistic guy. not one with a difficult first impression, it's easy to get to know him. he prefers to take on the role of supporter who goes along with the atmosphere in his friend group, rather than the one who initiates the jokes. he's always going to be laughing along and responding to those around well. he'll become a great friend whenever you need him. despite this, matthias has a tendency to be too accomodating and over time, lose his own color. he has a lot of insecurities over this that he keep to himself. he has his share of secrets or scars that he masks so well every time he blends in with the noise and energy of his friends. you need to play your cards right to be able to see who he really is or you'd have to resort to playing the waiting game until he shows you himself.

✈  we met last summer, found my way to you, gave me your number to see if i'd come thru  
they met last summer when brooklyn managed to come back home during her summer break. she was at a cafe finishing some video edits for aaron after hanging out with several of her highschool friends at central park when matthias walked into the cafe and sat next to her table after ordering. having her period at the time, brooklyn felt like she needed to go to the bathroom to change her pad but didn't feel safe with leaving her belongings alone so she tapped him on his shoulder and asked him if he could watch her belongings for her. matthias said yes and that's how they first met as strangers. after brooklyn came back from the bathroom, they ended up talking to each other for several hours nonstop and exchanged numbers that very night after they both decided to head back home. they went on a casual date the following day and decided that they had a lot in common and they met frequently before brooklyn went back to los angeles.

the last time they met in new york, matthias gave her a box with a ribbon inside it. he firmly told her not to open it until she was back in los angeles. she was awfully curious but she held it in. honestly, brooklyn was very regretful about a lot of things when she returned to college after meeting matthias. she had a great time getting to know him and felt like she wanted to spend more hangouts with him. so when she opened the box he gave her, she discovered several handwritten letters that smelled like his perfume. she softened. who would do gestures like that anymore? they skyped or zoomed with each other when possible and calling each other at night to keep each other company was great. slowly, her room mate koharu would point out her good moods. brooklyn eventually spilled to koharu about matthias and the shorter girl became fifty shades of adorable softness. it's safe to say that koharu has become a major mattie fan.

✈  you've got some kind of hold on me, all the things that you do, you do it all so gracefully 
their long distance between los angeles and new york was bearable because matthias always seemed be there for her after hours. brooklyn knows that new york is three hours ahead of los angeles so she wasn't really affected. it wasn't as if they were on different continents or countries. yet, the gestures he continues to show her really caused her to warm up. he was definitely a great friend figure and equally great potential boyfriend. they talked about their day-to-day events, memories, values and then it leads to a lot of random questions. it's always funny whenever matthias points out that music is always playing in the background of her room. she'd point out that he was always procrastinating on an assignment when they call each other. matthias would drop a compliment for her randomly and it sends her feeling shy. matthias reassures her a lot and it gives her a sense of trust and respect because he'd never say anything he doesn't mean. so, when he says he's always thinking of her, it's probably true, right? she'll try to retaliate by complimenting him and then, he'll just show the happiest smile and say thank you.

matthias, knowing brooklyn's role to aaron's youtube channel, eventually went to secretly stalk his instagram feed and watch aaron's videos only because she edited them. he sees how aaron and her seem close and can't help but think about it with a hint of jealousy. how could he not, as he was nearly four thousand kilometers away from her and this aaron park guy was instead? brooklyn does reassure him by saying that aaron and her are strictly work partners and if it weren't for the channel, they probably wouldn't even be friends (this is what brooklyn always tells aaron too). matthias knows that he should believe her. after all, this is brooklyn and not someone else. aaron could feel something different from brooklyn. she left out a lot of details of her summer break in new york and it was obvious to him that something happened over there. he suspected that a guy was involved and his suspicions was proven right when he saw a text from matthias pop up on brooklyn's phone while she was ordering her food. he knew they were just friends or work partners but he felt a bit weird seeing her being pursued by a guy. he just hoped that this guy factor doesn't distract her from her work.

matthias hit the jackpot when he saw her upload a picture she took of him and one he took of her. the picture was taken during one of their casual dates at the washington square park. what's more is the caption that read, "what would've happened if you were here instead of new york?" he did a celebratory dance. brooklyn kicked her blankets, she can't believe she did such a thing. she never thought she was capable of creating such a caption. she did tell matthias that she'd upload the scanned film pictures of their new york dates but as soon as she uploaded them and was bombarded with comments from her peers (very surprised comments from ava and aaron while hudson definitely became a protective brother), she felt very shy. koharu stormed into her room and screamed with her. matthias sent her a text saying, "aw, i'm honoured, really, lucked out". she ended up blushing shades of red and koharu for looking like a tomato. that night, matthias realized that he should really trust brooklyn.

when brooklyn notified matthias about youcon, he will be very excited to see her again. he'll plan out what they should do together and all that, but then brooklyn will have to give him her daily timetable for youcon before he can go all out. her older brother hudson will finally be able to meet aaron in person after just scrolling through his instagram feed. in his honest opinion, he prefers matthias over aaron but hudson would never say that directly to aaron's face. being in youcon will definitely cause some confusion for aaron as he rediscovers brooklyn in another light and start to wonder if he's into her in some way and if he's somehow caught feelings for his work partner whose often shipped with him while brooklyn is definitely going to be more direct about her intentions with matthias without ever imagining in her life that aaron park would be into her in any way (she'd claim that there was no possibility he'd have his eyes on anything else other than his music). maybe, they'd even agree to date. but with aaron's newly found feelings coming into the mix, things are bound to get a bit dramatic for the two born-and-raised new yorkers.
