under his tough facade and charming attitude, noah's messed up. for real. thankfully, he is a better pretender and actor than he is a brave knight. he chooses to become confident, fatally charming and eloquent through a mask that suits him the most; a casanova, a show-stopper, a womanizer. what you see is not all what you get so expect the unexpected from him. he lives his life in spectacular scales and he's quite a one-man show, it's rather entertaining. it felt like he had everything and that he was possible of doing anything. all of that went away once he was alone. he became the raw noah. insecure, emotional, scared, full of personal issues. he has daddy issues and it's really hard for him to open up and talk about his feelings and issues. legend has it that nobody has successfully peeled through his facades and gotten him to talk. though, changes can happen anytime and by anyone.
his father was his mother's one love and she was his, too. everything just went wrong when they were both twenty-two. they did use protection but somehow, it was god's will. noah was born out of a marriage and his mom wanted to be responsible about it even after her whole household forbids the sight of his father in front of them. his father was banished because he couldn't handle the responsibility. his mom had to handle several jobs and noah and her lived with his maternal grandparents who took care of him lovingly.
raised by a single mom working as a director in marketing, noah thought he grew up fine without a dad. he made friends just fine and he was fine with the simple life he lived. even if his mom worked, he worked part-time in a bbq joint and then in a convenience store at night to help out with the bills. sometimes, he'd help out his grandparents with their bakery. he was proud of making it without his old man. even if it breaks his every part of his heart whenever he saw his mother still keeping on to a pair of wedding rings from his father that she never got to wear.
well, that's what he thought until he entered college. his dad came up to him one day and begged for his forgiveness. of course, he couldn't forgive him. he knew how much his mother and grandparents worked to raise him even if he was a sudden child. even if it wasn't his time yet to be born. he never thought that he'd have daddy issues until in college, he really felt the prejudice and pressure that came with his birth sink in. he realized that his whole life was an unplanned mess. after enlisting in the military a few months after his high school graduation, he came out of the military with a sense of self-acceptance and inner peace. he's proud to be able to become his own person and be someone his father never thought he'd become.
upon graduating kyunghee university with a major in digital content, noah wanted to work in a more progressive environment. he heard from his senior that there was a startup that was looking for employees with his kind of qualities. most of his male peers avoided interviewing for that company because it turns out that it was a fashion app for women to shop. he didn't mind the risks of working at a startup, he wanted the experience and the environment that allowed him to develop and who knows, maybe they'd accept a male amidst the amount of female applicants. he interviewed for a position in the design division and the day after, he got a job in the graphic design team.
he is a digital designer in the team and as he is a fresh graduate (read: young blood), he is responsible for making draft templates, digital posters for advertising, creating new layouts for the app or website, making social media content and so on. whatever his superior asks of him, he has the drive to accept (and decline when there are a little too many). many people at work admire him purely because of his skills and work ethics and some especially because of his personality.
currently, noah lives alone at an apartment building close to drunken owl ever since he got accepted into kyunghee university as he could not afford to commute from incheon to seoul every day. he has never thought of moving out of that apartment since he worked really hard with his part-time jobs to make ends meet independently. this way, the freedom and lifestyle he leads can be his rewards for living so diligently all this time. the freedom to take girls home to his bed, the alcohol stash he has in his fridge, the fact that he has his own space to do whatever he wants. he usually invites friends or flings over when he gets bored or goes to exercise or play online games. sometimes, he'd find his mom and grandparents stay for the weekend, bringing him side dishes or his favorite meals to fill his fridge. judge him all you want but he's capable of cooking, finance budgeting, and cleaning by his own.

a culinary major gone wrong, yoon boram is a kitchen staff at drunken owl, the closest bar to his apartment building. noah frequents this joint and is notorious amongst the staff as the neighbourhood casanova. yoon boram doesn't like those type of dudes so it was natural for her to misunderstand their fist meeting. it was a rainy night and boram's shift was done. she didn't have an umbrella with her and she didn't have enough in her electric wallet to order a taxi. noah who was smoking outside approached her. she immediately told him, "excuse me, i am not going to bed with you". he laughed, "you aren't my type anyways but you're welcome, you can take the taxi i just ordered". yoon boram was confused. noah told her, "congratulations, you are the first girl i would never bang". he took out an umbrella and there she was, inside the taxi he ordered for her. weird. that's how their tom and jerry friendship started. they bicker all the time but enjoy the company that came with it.

currently a 28 year old account executive in the sales team of rom&nd, a cosmetic brand in korea, irene bae was never one to complain about life. she is the child of two korean immigrants in boston, usa but she decided to return to korea after graduating from boston university with a degree in public relations. she had worked as a sales development rep at colourpop cosmetics, an entry level position given the fact that she was a fresh graduate. she worked there for three years before she heard from one of her korean friends that there was a good job offering in a newly found cosmetic brand in korea. she decided to leave her entry level position for something a bit more challenging and progressive. that's how she was able to land a job back in her parents' home country. people wonder why she was so stubborn in getting a job in the beauty industry and she answered that it's always a new battle field every day and that she always loved beauty products.

01: a week? that's like a year in hot girl time.
of course, the first meeting of any couple is a story worth telling even if some met as friends or co-workers or through a blind date. anything is possible and that's just how people say that the first meeting is magical or fate-driven. for a certain two people (cough: yoo noah and irene bae), it was somewhat unforgettable.
they first met at noah's go-to handmade perfume shop when they were having a workshop on personally making your own handmade perfume. irene went there because she was given a slot by one of her co-workers who couldn't make it and noah was there because well, it's his favorite perfume shop and he wanted to proof to the group that he can also be a soft boi for once. he was challenged not to talk up to any girl he meets there but he tells them, "you know me. i can not lie about who i am. or who i bang."
noah being noah has a thing for sensing hot ladies. straight away, he knew that irene was his type. like literally, his ideal type merged into one person. he was a honest soul that day and set his tricks and punch lines aside the whole day. he was set on talking up to her. she took in his approaches like a sponge. she didn't think he was all bad. they exchanged phone numbers and all but they didn't meet each other again until a week later because irene was stacked with work. noah did state his presence by texting her every day and irene was positively responding to him. upon hearing his descriptions of irene (nothing ually offensive though, he knows how to respect women's rights), the group for being so head over heels for irene but noah denied such words so he proved his point by spending that week hooking up with his co-worker or some girl from drunken owl while waiting for irene.

they progressed into a getting-to-know phase. noah sensed that that she was a steal. she was a highly paid professional, liked all the movies he did, was beautiful and charming. what else was she lacking? even so, he wasn't confident in commitment. on the other hand, irene also had several blind dates on the side. she liked him as a person and as someone she'd go to bed with but was still unsure to trust him fully because after asking about him to her co-workers, she found out about his extravagant reputation. even the group was urging him to be a brave and face the problem like he did at work.
they had their own issues to deal with but never turned to each other to talk about them. hell, they weren't even the type to talk about their issues and feelings in the first place. that's where they didn't see their relationship survive but like all romantic relationships, there is always a turning point. it was a chilly night when irene was having a team dinner and had a little too many soju. her co-worker called noah, the last person she talked to. she drunkenly told him, "i've been a really good employee at work this month so i have three wishes. one, yoo. noah. you have to come here right now". he ran through his door and straight after her. he appeared, holding her favorite strawberry ice cream. "poof! i'm here, where are your other two wishes?", he said with a bright smile. that's when she drunkenly confessed all her inner feelings to him and he escorted her back to her house. he thought about what she said. was she worth losing in exchange of keeping himself wrapped behind closed doors? of course not.
waking up embarassed, they met up at a nearby park where they had a walk together. noah, for the first time ever since his break up with kim yongsun, finally exposed himself to irene. every single messed up piece of him. he had been waiting for someone to get him to talk and he never thought that irene was the same as him but she was able to open up first, even if he already knew she wanted him to braven up first. that day, you could tell they were their raw selves. you could tell this event had strengthened their relationship. sometimes, it takes just one wish.

the group giggled and every time they get reminded of irene turning noah into a soft boi. well, that does proof that noah is capable of being a soft boi. their relationship was going strong but is yet to be defined by a certain status. everyone but them two can see that they are obvious with their feelings. they just have trouble being completely honest and straightforward about what they want. it's a frustrating situation for those watching. the group knows that. they've seen irene, the way irene and noah exchange eye contact with overflowing affection, and the uncharacteristic sincerity that comes with noah's actions. the group wanted him to commit to irene because they were convinced she was the one.
then, the big bang came on his birthday. irene was invited to drunken owl. they all had a lot of drinks shared. being her usual cute drunk, irene reminded him that she still had two wishes then she became angry at him, "how can i ask you out when i know you have a thousand girls you can contact to bang in your phone! you are a motherer, after all. my second wish is for you to proof me wrong". the group was surprised at her honesty because that was actually the elephant in the room. they never could ask him if he's still having his booty calls even when he looks at irene with the affection he has. noah was triggered so he did it.
he stood up and without any words spoken, erased and blocked (and notified) all of his booty calls. he showed everyone in the group and to irene. he made a very good speech, "underneath those lies is one true thing. one true thing that can support the weight of all the lies in the world, and that the fact that i love you." irene then stood up, "and my white lie tonight was that i was drunk, i appreciate you so much and yes, i love you too." he hugged her and the group just started clapping and cheering them on. turns out, they planned it along with irene to test noah's sincerity. of course, with his grand gesture, one thing was for sure that night: the two of them happily started dating!

04: i love everything about her and i'm not a guy that says that lightly
after a legendary and epic boyfriend-girlfriend relationship (a few years after another couple in the group get married), everyone around them starts to ask about their next level; marriage. of course, none of them would answer to those questions directly. they love each other. that is a fact but it was another level of commitment and responsibilities that none of them were thinking of. they were comfortable where they were. noah's fully whipped for only her and she was seeing herself in new lights after meeting him. they were both developing and growing as individuals in their relationships but it never occured them that they should get married like right now.
at this point, we all know of how far noah will go for his lady love. he tells the group every day that he knows now that she's the one. he's convinced. his mom and grandparents love her and thankfully, irene's parents recognize him as a reliable and capable partner for their daughter. the group enjoy teasing him and give their blessings. noah would tell them, ", you give me your blessings when i have no idea if i'm going to even propose to her right now, you."
after their -nth anniversary date, he tells her that he's going to take her to their regular place. irene without any doubt knows that he's referring to drunken owl. he blindfolds her and they enter drunken owl. when she removes her blindfold, she sees all their friends and family (and some drunken owl staff forced into the idea and some unknowing customers at the time). he shows her a video compilation of all their grand moments together, made by himself (befitting of his job that creates all sorts of content). she was in tears at this point and then she witnesses him get on one knee and pull out a pair of rings that she knows is actually the rings his mother received from his father before he had to walk away from her.
"you know, irene, for a long time, deep down i felt sort of, broken? but i don't feel that way anymore. my mom never got to wear the wedding dress she dreamed of wearing and be together with her true love because i came along. so for a long time, i felt like i didn't have the right to dream what she dreamed of but you came along and everything changed. my dad walked away from his love but i'm not him. never have and never will be because i've got you, i don't need to wait for it anymore."
