PEACH GIRL 복숭아 소녀 her first name means "peach" in jpn, and because of this, her parents would call her "peach girl", when she was little. it got picked up by the people around her town, then she used it for herself.

TO PLANET MOMO,
i have arrived.
today will be the first day of my life of my new life. as you know, i have migrated to the third rock from the yellow star to see if i can create new momoin life there.
i know my ancestors are proud of my decision to restart our beautiful species and you, our beautiful planet, rather than to let us die off without even trying.
i'm not sure if i am compatible with any of the inhabitants on this planet called "earth" but that is why i came here, right? to see who will be the perfect fit for momoins. and since we are adaptable beings, i'm sure it will all be fine.
i'm learning one of the many languages of this planet, used by some of the species (so far, i've only heard humans speak it, but i'm not sure if they're the only ones, yet) of where i will be staying.
the humans that i am staying with are nice, and they have not seemed to notice i've taken over their human offspring. they wash me, feed me, and give me presents to bide my time.

momo is nice — a plain and simple girl-next door with a loving heart.
or that's what she wants people to think, but no one is buying the plain and simple character.
momo is nice and loving, that much is true. friendly with pretty much anyone, as long as they're not completely reprehensible or bigoted. she's always open to help, whether it be for a stranger, a friend, or an enemy. she likes to be needed, and she likes to make people smile even more. as long as it's not a task to hurt someone or herself, directly or indirectly, she's open to do anything for free (or for hugs and kisses).
she's not really a pushover, though. she may come off as a gullible idiot, because that's what she wants people to think, but she's anything but. she won't finish a task the person asking could do by themselves; for example, when someone would ask her for homework help, she'd direct them to websites that would help with the work problems. she feels it's pointless and redundant to complete a duty meant for someone else, and would rather show them where to find or come up with their own solution.
momo is an intelligent girl, in both the conventional and unconventional way. she has an imaginative mind, and the means to get her ideas executed in the real world. a lot of the time, she can go overboard with her ideas, suggesting things that only little kids who don't understand how the world works would. she acts out of touch with reality and ditzy, because she sees no benefit in being smart. too many expectations to follow and disappoinment when it falls through — momo can't handle that, so she'd rather be an idiot. and she's been faking it for so long, she has forgotten that she was faking it in the first place.
she hates showing her emotions, too. she finds that acting like she's empty up there helps with people not wanting deep, serious conversations from her. she jokes around a lot of the time, annoyingly self-indulgent in the pursuit of having copious amounts of fun, to hide from others and herself that she is constantly feeling intense despondency and loneliness. she often feels disconnected from people and the world; a number of friends and amicable relationships, but no one will ever understand her — the gut feeling that she doesn't belong, that everyone else is in on a cosmic joke but her, the need to be free and apart from her body.
whenever a friend or acquaintance comes to her to vent, she'll deliver in being a supportive friend because they deserve to have her be serious, but she'll never talk about her own problems with anyone. she only exists as a support and nothing else, and she doesn't feel the need to change that. she's afraid of pouring her heart out, and the person she's talking to staring back at her blankly, not giving her the same amount of emotional support as she does.
momo is an optimistic paranoid; she grins in the face of internal turmoil and external chaos. when life gets bad, life will get good – on the flip side, when life gets good, life will get bad. although she can never fully relax because she's sure one slip-up will make her hit rock bottom before she knows it, she sees her anxieties as good. it helps her be proactive and prepared for the worst, the worst that'll most likely never happen in her life time like an apocalypse, or of dramatic situations that only happen in soap operas. if it does, she's ready for it. she's afraid of the worst to come, but she prides herself on knowing that it can only get worse before it gets better.
her paranoia and desire to hide all of her "bad" emotions make her morbid, obsessively interested in all the ways certain feelings – and lackthereof – can make people do horrible things. it scares her enough to have both day and night terrors about it, yet intrigues her enough to keep looking for macabre stuff. there are times she'll wish that something bad will happen to her due to her feeling empty, then she'll immediately berate herself for thinking that way. looking over her shoulder every once in a while, she hopes to see and not see what she's scared of.
she forgets that other people are not as involved or particularly interested in this type of stuff as she is, so she'll randomly bring up the gritty details of a real-life case she had read up on or movie she watched to others' dismay. she also forgets to have discretion when discussing these things, talking as if it's only a story and not something real that happened to someone. she tries to practice mindfulness, but she gets too caught up in retelling everything that her mindfulness doesn't show.
momo is a chatter-box, as well. she can go on for so long, babbling about absolutely nothing. she has two modes for when she talks:
the first is the "nonsense mode" - no one is sure what she's talking about, and at this point, they're too afraid to ask. it can be about anything, and it honestly is about anything. she'll switch from one topic to the other and then back again before the person she's talking to is even sure what's happening. this mode usually activates when she's bored, or she's with someone where the conversation from before has died, it's been a little too quiet, and she just needs to speak to cut through the silence. she can sit in silence with someone, but that's when she's known the person for a while or they just got done venting.
the second is the "story mode" - either something interesting happened to her or someone else, regardless she's going to retell it in the most compelling, most likely exaggerated and embellished way possible. momo narrates not just with her words, but her whole body. she gets so into retelling events and even communicating her ideas, dramatic in the way of a theater actor. she sets the scene, characters, dialogue, etc. that the people listening to her speak would think that they were there with how vivid it all plays out and how graphic she is.
she spares no details – unless of course it's an entirely private matter – which is both her curse and her blessing. since she doesn't really want to cut things out but she also doesn't want to do any harm to someone, she'll usually make things up that are a bit similar to what actually happened. some people call her out on lying to which she'll say "i'm merely preventing unneccessary exposure." she usually gets creative with her "mad libs", not caring whether or not it sounds fake.
on camera, she's more cautious about what she says or does. she won't go completely off the rails, but she'll still talk like her life depends on it (and it does).
BACKGROUND
ALIEN COMES DOWN TO EARTH
myo momo is born on august 7, 1996 to a large family of fruit & vegetable farmers in the county of yeongyang, north gyeongsang province. the myo family farm's most cultivated fruit is the korean chili pepper, a yeongyang classic. the philosophy of "if you see too much of something, you'll get tired of it" does not ring true for momo, for red is still her favorite color even now — and she's seen a lot of red.
if someone were to ask momo details of her personal life, she'd tell them she's a 1000 years old being who grew up on sagwa tree hill on momo planet with momoins and other species in different shapes, colors, and forms, who – excluding her – were exterminated by a meteor.
when momo was an ever-curious, ever-imaginative third grader, she had watched a documentary about dinosaurs and aliens that her dad had on DVD. now this documentary was all in english (and momo didn't know how to put the subtitles on), so she had to make up her own ideas on what the narrators and special experts were saying. she could figure out what it was about, though – she knew what dinosaurs were, because she watched a land before time, and she knew what aliens were, because she watched alien.
however, this documentary she couldn't understand was special — it combined two of coolest things she could think of in one special movie. momo had gotten inspired to create a planet of her own where dinosaurs and aliens lived in peace and harmony.
as time went by and momo began adding on to the planet she would uncreatively name "planet momo", she changed it into something new; only available and for her. she became obsessed with it, escaping to a world where she didn't have to help with chores, and she didn't get teased at school for having a lisp, stuttering, and generally coming off as a loser to the 9 year old kids who wanted to be a cool grown up.
even in her younger years, momo excelled when it came to academics, yet she would fake confusion and intentionally get bad grades. during her first through third grades, she was consistently near the top of her class and even the whole school, but eventually, at the beginning of her fourth grade, she took a dive – academically and socially. she focused more on her world building than her friends and grades, ultimately ending up with no friends, bad grades, and casual bullies to boot.
her family and school teachers worried for her, so they got her a tutor, suspecting that maybe the lessons are too hard for her. it helped, with her shooting back up to the top, since little momo felt guilty about acting even after they hired her a tutor, but after her tutor left, she went back to faking. momo told her parents she doesn't want a tutor again, and they decided to let her be due to the money costs, hoping that by spending more time with her, she'll be okay.
momo continued to work on her planet.
EXTRATERRESTRIAL'S NEXT STOP: SEOUL
in 2008, her sister, boyeon, expresses the wish to become an actress. her parents adamantly refuse, her dad going as far as to bring up all the bad things that happen to child actors (of course, not explicitly). it had scared boyeon off from the wish, but momo couldn't let it go. her sister was, and still is, obsessed with movies, tv shows, and musicals; she would often recite lines from her favorite media, without missing a beat, whether it was a monologue or a dialogue.
momo had pushed and pushed for her parents to at least let boyeon try, before they finally agreed to let her audition for a small scale project, a commercial for a local product. the audition went well, and before momo could even remember to blink, her sister was in multiple local cms, lovingly nicknamed "yeongyang's flower girl" by the residents.
near the end of 2010, her parents got a call from an acting agency in seoul called king kong entertainment (now king kong by starship) who had saw one of her cms and wanted to have her in for an interview and audition. after a long discussion with boyeon, and momo as well, her parents agreed to let her audition. momo, boyeon, and their mother traveled to seoul for the interview and audition.
two months later, her sister was informed to be accepted. another trip to seoul, that momo didn't get to go to, to discuss her contract and then it was finalized. her parents had discussed boyeon moving in with her well-off aunt and uncle if she did get accepted and they were okay with the contract, and momo got to tag along to see if a new environment would help with her schooling. they moved to seoul a week later.
momo did better in school by a bit, only because she didn't want to move back to yeongyang. she wanted to explore the world, and she did a lot of exploring in seoul (with the allowance she got from her aunt). she got more bold with talking about her planet to other people, telling the kids at school that she was an alien. surprisingly, they ate it and her up, especially her seatmate, ahyun.
although momo didn't expect it and only wanted to move because she wanted to be somewhere new, seoul ended up being good for her.
E.T. IS A K-POP IDOL IN THE MAKING
it's 2012, and boyeon makes her debut with a small role as one of the bullies to the daughter on a sitcom. it was only for one episode, and she had no speaking role since she was not the main bully, but she was there. momo, so overwhelmed by seeing her sister do what she loves, cried very hard – her aunt crying with her.
ahyun was also making her dreams come true, singing trot at small events for elders and doing busking performances. a couple of her other friends and classmates already knew what they wanted to do, and they were only in their first year of high school. it got her thinking about what she wanted to do after she graduated. other than magically waking up on her planet, she didn't really have anything she really wanted. she had put alien on her career survey, which had definitely pissed off her teacher, but momo really had no interest in doing anything.
talking with one of her new friends, he talked about being a trainee for an entertainment company. she did really like k-pop, but she wasn't musically inclined or all that pretty, according to herself. he had mentioned it's more about personality rather than anything, but she had just shrugged it off.
however, she really couldn't stop thinking about it after that day. she decided to talk about it with everyone she knew, asking them "could you see me being an idol?" the answers were split half-and-half, so it didn't really help her. she did more research on it — which consisted of her watching fancams and asking her friend about what it's like to be a trainee.
it took her a year to decide what to do. she had gotten interested in film-making and writing at the same time (after her teacher sat her down and forced her to look through a list of careers and choose one), switching through the three possibilities like a machine. to choose between the three, she dedicated one month to doing only that activity. she used her phone's camera and her dolls to make short films, wrote out a bunch of short stories of different genres, and practiced singing and dancing while looking at a mirror.
it didn't really help, it just made her more wanting to do all three. she ended up getting wrapped in school, and while looking through her college options, decided to go for writing since she was more used to that than the other two. after speaking about it with her aunt and her teacher, the two seeing more of a talent in that than her writing, she switched off to film-making.
she discussed it with her sister, who encouraged to do writing as well, then with her friends, who were advocating for her to be an idol. in the end, she decided to do all of them. she practiced them all hard, harder than she'd like to admit for someone who doesn't like to work. she failed all of auditions she went to, despite practicing so hard, before she decided to audition for big hit ent.

RELATIONSHIPS
MYO MOMO AND KIN
momo often takes pleasure in showing people her "human family tree" as she calls it. she has a great amount of family, family that she sees very often. however, the most important members of her family are:
mom. myo seonha neé nam, 1973 — momo's love and light. on the surface, her mother is what every man dreams their wife to be, but getting to know her and her family, they'll see she's not the meek, docile woman they imagined her be. strong-willed and controlled the home with a gentle, yet firm hand. she often acts like a baby with her mom, with her mom loving every second. she complains to her mom about everything going on with her.
dad. myo kihoon, 1971 — her dad is focused on his work on the family farm; a stern, but compassionate leader who really cares for the contractors they call out for help, his family, and the farm. he is also an awkward human being. he's often going "so... what're you up to?" with momo, confued about what to say now that she's older than 7. regardless of how awkward her dad may be, it goes away the second she mentions idols. lately, he's been interested in apink.
aunt. kim seonkyung neé nam, 1976 — a public defneder. her aunt is a powerhouse; a strong woman who commands the room when she walks in; the type of woman to strike fear into a man's heart. she is super supportive of the girls doing their respective things. she tells the girls to be smart and diligent, and encouraging them to do what they feel is both right and safe, but to also be bold and not held back by convictions. momo looks up to her aunt, and although they don't really talk as much as she does her mom or her sister, she does come for her for advice or just to hang out with her at home.
uncle. kim chulseok, 1978 — a pharmacist. her uncle is the calm to seonkyung's storm. sweet and kind, he may not be as zealous as his wife but he's still a great supporter. momo isn't the closest with her uncle - he has more of an impact in boyeon's life than her own - but momo respects and loves him all the same. they haven't had a one-on-one chat before, usually speaking to each other when her aunt is around
younger cousin. kim jikyung, 2004 — a litle nuisance, but momo's nuisance. she plays pranks on momo all the time, and momo just laughs and laughs. she thinks her cousin is cute, and she's only a kid trying to have fun. jikyung reminds momo of herself as a child, both loners who prefer to do things they want to do rather than listen. she listens well to momo, though, probably because she feels like they're similar, too. momo hopes her encouragement is helping jikyung to be more outgoing.

if there's anyone that is normal in the family, it's boyeon. she has the looks, the grades, and the talent that momo doesn't have. the two are often compared to each other on these factors. boyeon gets extremely offeneded everytime they are compared to each other, and she will defend her sister til the end of time. she loves momo, and often wishes she could be as free spirited, loving, and over the top she is.
momo does her part, too, by giving boyeon emotional support. after boyeon's big wins at the end of the year award shows in 2014-2015, she had been getting more vocal hate comments that even she couldn't avoid. boyeon had called momo, with momo telling her:
"but why does it matter what they're saying about you? you don't know them and they don't know you. you're right where you are because you work hard to act well for your part, and they're... wherever the hell they are writing hate comments on the internet. at the end of day, you're the one who's rookie of the year."
it had helped boyeon immensely, with her not being as bothered by hate comments as much anymore. she's thankful for all the times that momo has helped her, delibrately and inadvertently, and momo wants to see her sister shine as brightly as she knows she can.
they hang out at a cafe near bighit entertainment's building or the han river. they still live together, but the two are usually busy with their respective activities plus her aunt, uncle, and cousin are there, so if she wants to be alone with boyeon, they go out. usually when they go out, boyeon treats momo. they talk about anything going on with their lives, usually work related.
(boyeon was the first person momo told about her being an alien, when momo was 11 and boyeon was 9 going on 10. boyeon didn't believe her, and just grinned and said "okay!". boyeon indulges momo, even going so far to ask questions about her life and planet, because she doesn't know what else to do.)

momo's best friend and nahyun's sister.
they were seatmates in high school, and gradually became good friends through that. ahyun was infatuated with momo, always telling her how "cool" she is while following her around. momo didn't have an opinion on ahyun, other than that she was nice, but a bit too much at the time.

momo is not deterred, though. she still calls yeolhyun her "trainee friend" and even goes out of her way to be more annoying to yeolhyun by doing things that specifically irritate her, like eating too loudly or talkling over her.

TRAINEE LIFE momo auditioned in august. she was getting somewhat discouraged from pursuing an idol career, and had vowed to audition for two more companies before she quit and focused on her school studies. big hit entertainment was the first of the two, and she had auditioned with "nu abo" by f(x).
she was the last one of the day, so she had a bit of leeway on going over her audition time. her audition was not the best when it came to vocal and dance. she had forgotten some of the steps and the lyrics, replacing them with what she could think of on the spot. since she wasn't satisfied with her performance and she was sure she wasn't going to get in, she spontaneously announced that she could do improv, as well.
momo hadn't done improv before, but she figured it couldn't hurt to at least try. she could either embarrass herself until the end of times or make herself look good enough to get a contract. the improv was, well, a complete mess, but it did make them laugh. she won't home happy that day, anxiously waiting for an e-mail or a call.
the call didn't come until almost a month later, when momo had already given up the idol life as a pipe dream and focused on making horrible home-made films. they were calling to schedule an appointment for her to see ceo bang and two other important people. she went with her aunt.
they talked about momo's dreams, what exactly she wanted to do. she fezzed up about wanting to be a film-maker, author, and idol, and that she hasn't really become that interested in any of them until just recently, but she's starting to really enjoy it all. she was also asked if she'd prefer being an idol over an actress, and she had nodded without having to think it over.
that was it for that day, but she would be called back in two days later to sign a contract (her aunt looking over it to make sure it wasn't a slave contract), and she was officially and finally an idol trainee. she was also given acting lessons on the side.
juggling training and school is hard, even now. momo's vocal and dance abilities have become a lot better than when she was practicing by herself in the room, now that she has actual coaches to help her with what she's doing wrong. she's even good enough to be considered a vocalist. though her voice was never "bad" persay, she was just very shaky and unstable, not as confident in her singing as she could be.
the dance trainers usually praise her on her charm, facial expressions, and the way she works the stage, then comment that it effectively covers up her erratic dancing to people who aren't professionals. she tried to work harder, in turn looking even worse and messing up the whole formation because she was trying too hard. one coach stressed to her that "your more is worse than your less." it helped her with being less enthusiastic, not putting as much as effort as she used to in her dancing.
as said before, momo is always greeting and speaking to everyone that crosses her path. she goes out of her way to help people out, even when she's burnt out. some people appreciate it, others (yeolhyun) don't. she doesn't let that stop her in trying to become friends with them, though she usually does back off unless she finds it funny to see them pissed off (yeolhyun).
she has a lot of what she calls "trainee friends," friends she hangs out with during training times and never anywhere else. because she doesn't live at the dorms and she has school, she doesn't have that much quality time with the other girls as she possibly could. regardless, they're her friends and she talks with them when she can. if they're lucky, she'll even go out to eat with them after a long day.

both taehyung and momo were not looking; tae on his phone while riding one handed, and momo – back faced towards him – also on her phone, watching a recording of her sister's appearance on her phone through blurry eyes and earphones plugged in.
now that she's not face first on the ground with a bike wheel digging through her back, momo can laugh about it. at the time, however, she began to cry for a different reason. taehyung, until now, feels guilty; maybe not as much as he did when it happened, but everytime he sees the scar above her eyebrow, he frowns.
momo had scraped one of her knees and her face, suffering a pretty bad fall. fortunately, they were next to a convience store — taehyung had helped her sit down on one of the chairs sat outside while he went in and bought some disinfecting wipes and adhesive bandages.
before he even asked, he had cleaned the injury on her knee and put the bandage. she was too choked up about how bad it hurt and how her ice cream that she only got two in was ruined to really comment on it. when he had moved to do the same to her face, that's when the awkwardness set in. she did that part herself.
they apologized to each other, going through a back-and-forth situation until they laughed about how ridiculous they were being. they talked for a little bit, after momo asked him why he was looking at his phone while on a bike. he mentioned that he had recently been added to a kakao group chat with the his new team members, and that they should be debuting soon.
they talked for a little bit more before momo realized she's been out for too long and needed to go home, and taehyung realized he was late for a meeting with s. they exchanged kakao ids, and then went on their way.
they hadn't really spoken too much with each other until momo got interested in being an idol. it was easy for them to talk about things outside of that, though, and for them to connect. both are outgoing, friendly, and in their own heads, so they worked together perfectly. he was (is) interested in her world, often asking questions related to it. he had started to make his own, but got bored of it when he realized how much work he had to put in to make it seem realistic. he grew an admiration for momo after he quit, figuring out that she's a lot smarter than she lets on.
when momo was struggling on what to do, he had originally encouraged her to be an idol because he thought it would be cute if the two of them promoted at the same time. when she dedicated a month to practicing her singing and dancing, she would send the videos she recorded to him and asked for any pointers he had. he didn't really know anything technical about dancing or singing, so he would show her videos to his coaches and text the advice they gave to her.
during may through july 2013, they didn't speak as much because taehyung was going through his debut promotions. their messages would usually only be "good morning," "good luck," and "good night", with a few supportive messages from momo. he felt bad for not talking to his friends as much as he used to, but he also felt really good about his debut. momo had tried to not both taehyung as much because she knew he was busy. even though she did miss discussing all the kinds of sea slugs there were multiple times to him, she knew she could wait until he was free.
momo didn't tell him about any of her failed auditions, though he had guessed none of them had worked out considering she would have informed him if she had passed. on one of his breaks, he had casually suggested she audition for big hit; she hadn't said much other than "ok" so taehyung had thought she wasn't interested. he ignored his disappointment.
until she had sent a selfie of herself in front of the big hit building with the message "hi, senior v!" a whole month after.
he was estatic, to say the least. he wasn't sure why he was so happy, considering they still wouldn't be able to hang out because 1) she's a girl, and he knows what the press will do (was warned about it by everyone in the company), and 2) he's an idol now, not a trainee. there really isn't that much time for him to see her with him having different duties to attend to. still, he has more of a chance of seeing her around than if she was in another company.

he didn't mean to fall in love with her. it's rare for him to find someone he fully connects with; he fell in love with jimin fast, a fact he tells the boy when he confronts taehyung about his feelings for momo. he's a hopeless romantic, he knows, but he's not going to do anything about it, so why is it so wrong for him to be in love?
jimin warns him to be careful, and taehyung knows he's just being worried for taehyung, but he feels offended on momo's behalf when jimin says, "i don't think she's being her true self to you."
it does get him thinking, though - she does deflect when it's time to talk about anything personal. he'll be spilling out his guts, while she'll start talking something else completely when he asks her something as simple as, "what's wrong?". he starts to think that maybe she doesn't trust him as much as he trusts her. he gets it, some people take time to open up completely and 2 years is not a long time for a lot of people, but it still hurts. here he was thinking he found another soulmate, and she probably thinks of him as only a friend.
with a mind clouded by doubt, he's blind to momo's struggle.
momo is good at keeping a wall up; she's been doing so since she was 8. but as she meets more people who she holds dear to her heart, it gets harder and harder to patch the cracks of that wall.
taehyung is one of those special people. she wants to be open and honest with him, but everytime she's close to breaking, a thought conjures in her head that maybe, just maybe it'll be too much for him and he won't care. as optimistic as she is with her paranoia, the fear that the people she cares about not caring about her is not a fear she can be positive about. it eats away at her during every waking and sleeping moment, and she ignores for only the stuff that make her happy (falsely happy).
taehyung deserves a friend and a lover who will be genuine with him, but momo can't find it in herself to let him go. "is it wrong to love someone you're willingly holding at a distance?" she wonders to herself at times when she watches him leave. she's sure he thinks of her only as a good friend, a cute junior.
she hopes it stays that way.

ruffling her hair at random, pinching her cheeks when she's spieling out complete nonsense and getting his pinched in return, late night talks on the phone about what the universe holds for not only the two of them but every being that lives on earth, pinkies shyly interlocked whenever they're together, buying her any food that she wants with the little money he has so he could watch her cheeks puff up as she tries to make him laugh by eating like a chipmunk, which he'll always laugh even if the gimmick is tired, because seeing her grin so wide and fist pump the air could cure cancer.

secret hugs shared between the two, late night grubbing at her aunt and uncle's house, private nighttime "practice" sessions in one of the empty practice rooms – ranging from her bringing her laptop so they could illegally stream horror movies; momo having to, to the best of her ability, intepret what's happening in the ones without korean subs to taehyung; shoulders and arms so close, yet never touching, to talking for hours on end while simultaneously drawing whatever comes to mind and eating cheap food, to sitting in silence; one head on the other's lap; completely worn out from the day.
it's easy to think of taehyung as her boyfriend rather than her boy friend when he acts like it.
subconciously or on purpose, he's not sure himself why he feels the strong need to protect and care for her. maybe he's thinking by providing for her in those aspects, she'll finally want to confide in her, or maybe he just wants to do it to do it – either way, he acts like he's her husband.
