DAY6
 about her.
personality.
loyal, compassionate, gregarious, dependable
apprehensive, insecure, rigid, naive
tags: esfj-t, type 2w1, pisces, hufflepuff
haneul was an embodiment of sunshine. she was a girl who looked at the finer things in life, and always had something to appreciate even in times where nothing seemed hopeful. do haneul was a person who had a contagious laugh and her smile genuinely bright that it made people's heart ache. she was free spirited and loved to enjoy the world to its fullest. she wore her heart on her sleeve and wasn't afraid to express her emotions.
do haneul was once like that, past tense.
people change, and haneul is like everyone else. her bubbly demeanor is no longer present, she's more reserved and rather distant. her smile isn't as genuine anymore and that contagious laugh of hers rarely comes by. her idealistic and optimistic view on life faded along with her carefree spirit.
do haneul is like that now, present tense
but there certain things that never change and for haneul, it's her love for people. she's still some-one who goes out of her way to make a person's day or help them in any way that she can. sure, life can be harsh but it's no excuse to treat others in the same manner. her loyalty to people is quite admirable; she's supportive and always there for people in case they need a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear.
haneul will always be someone dependable. she's a person who expresses her thoughtfulness in the way she talks or do things. it's especially apparent whenever someone has a problem. at the end of the day, haneul remains as a softie for the people around her.
however, her selfless attribute is a double-edged sword. haneul is altruistic to the point where she can become a pushover; she wants everyone to be happy, and if it requires her opinions or desires to be pushed away then so be it. looking after others first has been so engrained in her mind that she often feels selfish for taking care of herself first.
her naivety is something that has never left her, but haneul wishes that it did. she remains gullible and easy to persuade; it used to be worse back then, people took advantage of her kindness and when they got caught, haneul would accept their forgiveness until the cycle repeats itself. she still isn't very good at sensing lies, but she's a lot more careful now on who to trust.
from carefree to careful, haneul changed quite a bit. she became a lot more worried and constantly uneasy in regards to everything. her optimism has been replaced with anxiousness as haneul became a person who overthinked every single thing. her mind goes to the worst case scenarios and as a result, her expectations are rather low. haneul is no longer someone who sees the finer things in life but rather, see things how it is. she expects to be disappointed, nothing more or less.
majority of her apprehensiveness does come from her insecurities. haneul wasn't really a confident person to begin with, but it's her frequent feeling of insecurity that causes her to be doubtful in a lot of things especially when it came to abilities. as a result, her self-esteem highly fluctuates and she may require receiving compliments to allow her talents to be validated.

tl;dr. very very soff, a social butterfly but a bit more distant to people now, the biggest scaredy cat out there, easily panics, a people-pleaser and a bit of a pushover, keeps her emotions to herself, fairly mature and handles majority of situations well though prone to have emotional outbursts especially when she's repressed her emotions for a long time.

background.
do haneul was born on february 20th in a hospital located in seoul. her mother and father were both reputable lawyers in a prestigious law firm, and due to the busyness of their profession, haneul remained as an only child.
haneul's parents took care of her during the first three or four years, however after that, she spent most of her time under the care of a nanny. her parents had the heart to take in a single parent in her early 30s, who had a son roughly her age. the couple allowed her to live with them and provide her son education as long as she would agree to take care of their only daughter for many years.
the opportunity was so great that the woman had no hesistation to take the offer and it all worked out quite well as haneul didn't grow up lonely, seeing as she had her nanny and her son, seojun, who she treated like a sibling.
the woman who took care of her understood how haneul felt being an only child with busy parents, so she spent a lot of time with the girl and her son; taking them out after school hours, playing games and reading books to them. haneul's nanny was very bright and optimistic, and the young girl looked up to her.
when she was nine, haneul and seojun went out to bike ride around the neighbourhood and noticed upon their return a moving truck next to their house. the girl was excited to know that there was a new family, and saw a woman carrying boxes. the two kids, who wanted to lend a helping hand, immediately took it upon themselves to assist the woman and they were thanked for their kindness.
from there, haneul and seojun came to know the kang family. they had a daughter around their age named seulgi, and like that they all became close friends. the three of them stuck by each other all the way til high school.
haneul's life was great. although she never felt the love that she wanted from her parents, her nanny and seojun was there to fulfill the familial love she lacked, she had true friends who loved her as much as she did. she was bubbly, optimistic and loved everything about the world.
after she graduated high school, her world began to crumble and crash down into a million pieces after her parents decided to get a divorce.
haneul understood why they separated, they spent nineteen years of marriage where there was little to no love being given or received. although she was understanding of the situation, it didn't mean that she wasn't left shattered.
her parents had discussed everything beforehand, and without her say, haneul went with her mother to vancouver, canada. it was all rather abrupt that she didn't manage to properly say goodbye to her friends.
she then studied in university for a double degree in fine arts and arts, specialising in photography while majoring in media & communications. she went on to be an assistant for acclaimed and well-known photographers both in canada and america for a couple of years.
zooming back to present day, after she managed to make a name for herself, haneul returned to korea two months ago after receiving an approval from her mother to return back home in order to build her portfolio.
now twenty four and independent, haneul resides with seojun and his mom for the time being until she manages to have a stable income.
since her return to korea, she began as a freelance photographer however was recently hired by a fashion magazine publisher.

lifestyle.
getting up at five am, haneul is the first person to wake up. after immediately getting out of bed, the girl heads to the bathroom to take a quick shower before she dresses up for the day.
haneul is the one who cooks breakfast for seojun and his mom as a way to repay their kindness to her. seojun's mom refuses to accept her offer to pay the rent, seeing haneul as her own child since she took care of her for so long, thus haneul does everything she can to repay them back through completing house chores and cooking.
the three of them have breakfast together before seojun and haneul leave for work, with the boy always dropping her off.
from nine to five, haneul spends her day working either at the studio of the publishing company, or in the office where she juggles between photo-shoots and editing photos. there are also times when her help is needed by the writers to read over their work, asking for her opinion or just to double check everything before they send it over to be proof-read and checked by their editor in chief.
due to seojun's workload at the hospital, haneul goes home by taking public transport. she ends up home by seven and has dinner with seojun's mom however, there are occasions that causes her to come home later than seven; usually it's dinner plans with friends, impulsive offers by her work-mates to eat out, or simply her refusal to go home just yet.
haneul is also the one who frequently runs late-night errands when they run out of something, or just requiring snacks in general. however, if there is no errands to be done or she has no remainder work to do, haneul spends time with seojun (who returns home by nine) and his mom before they all head to their respective rooms.
after the girl prepares to go to bed, she lays in bed scrolling through social media or watching videos before she calls it a day, crashing before twelve.
on weekends, haneul wakes up at nine and often cooks unless seojun's mom has already prepared something beforehand. her weekends are her free time, so she does pretty much what she wants but most of the time results to doing work and doing the house chores.

HER STORY.
prologue. the storm clouds will pass.
haneul's smile is genuine, and bright. she's full of so much love that it bursts out of her; it's in the way she treats everything around her with such care. it's in the way she views life. haneul is the sunshine on a rainy day.
but like the sun, her kindness is taken for granted and often taken advantaged of. all haneul wants is to feel appreciated and validated by those around her especially her parents.
she doesn't know when that time will come, but it doesn't mean that she's not hopeful.

chapters. full of shadows and darkness.
haneul's smile falters, and it's no longer as bright as before. she's still full of love but somehow it's not obvious anymore. life is life, there's nothing rosy about it because if anything, it's gloomy and often full of tragedy.
her desire to be appreciated and validated by her parents can no longer happen, thus haneul begins to seek it from other people. she hears all these compliments and words of encouragement, some are genuine whilst others are rather forced.
haneul can't tell which is which, she's not good at sensing lies. although, shouldn't she be pleased to hear about the things they tell her regardless?
so how come she still feels miserable inside?

epilogue. the days will clear up someday.
haneul's heartwarming smile finally returns. it has been quite a while. she's full of love and this time nothing will stop her from expressing it fully. life, though cruel, will always have silver linings— it just takes a lot of willpower to remain to such a mindset and hopefulness.
she no longer feels the need to seek validation or appreciation from others. haneul has come to the realisation that the validation she needed had to come from herself first. as long as haneul knew her worth, she didn't need to seek out for other people's confirmation.
it took her a while, but she got there in the end.

writer's cut. haneul is introduced as an optimistic and exuberant girl who constantly yearns for her parents' admiration and validation, though she is met with disappointment after her parents decide to separate and is left shattered. in return, haneul begins to seek it from those around her until she eventually comes to the resolution that what she's longed for must begin with her.

her treasures
the second mother.
oh miyeon, fifty, canteen lady
miyeon was haneul's nanny since she was four til the age of sixteen. the woman was the one who took good care of her and alongside her son, was the one who fulfilled the familial love that haneul lacked. she's a doting and sanguine person which showed in the way she brought up haneul and her son.
she was someone that haneul looked up to and as result, grew up to be somewhat like her nanny.
due to the amount of time that the girl spent with her, haneul considers miyeon as her second mom whilst the latter considers her like a daughter. so, when haneul returned to korea, miyeon had fully opened her home for her to stay awhile until she could manage to get a place of her own.
haneul and miyeon have a mother-daughter bond. they're often in the living room, watching tv or talking to each other while they wait for seojun to return home. like before, they would exchange stories to each other with haneul often telling her about her life in canada, and miyeon sharing what haneul missed during her departure. and just like any mother, she's also there for haneul to give advice and support whenever she notices her to be troubled by something.
they go out a lot as well, as haneul and seojun tag along to help her with grocery shopping or just to enjoy a day out every now and then.

the unofficial brother.
oh seojun, twenty four, resident
*resident: doctor in training.
"what is that hair?" haneul asks upon her arrival back to korea. seojun insisted on picking her up and his smile, that grew once he finally saw her, falls and forms into a pursed line, looking at the girl in annoyance.
"i remember when we were ten, you used to give your money to our classmates like it was nothing and i always had to intervene so you wouldn't end up starving." seojun began, "now i wish that saint was back because i don't know who this meanie is— besides it's temporary, i'm dyeing it back to black before my intership starts again."
"no need to be offended, the hair colour suits you and you actually look like those kpop idols i used to fawn over."
"shut up." he retorts before pulling her into a hug.
since they were little, seojun had always been her best friend. haneul doesn't recall a time where he wasn't there beside her, they were inseparable and did everything together.
for the longest time, seojun was her protector. he was the one who chased away her "friends" that wanted nothing to do with her apart from take her kindness for their advantage. he was the one who looked out for her whenever they were in public and the person who was always there to back her up whenever she needed it.
haneul kept in contact with seojun the most when she was in canada. he saw her gradually change; the way her smile faltered, how the glint of hope in her eyes slowly faded and her words no longer reassuring. haneul and seojun were like siblings, and it felt horrible knowing that he wasn't next to her, to protect and support her.
with haneul back home, their sibling-esque bond never changed, almost as if she never left in the first place. they spend their time together at home in the living room, bickering and teasing often to the point where his mom has to intervene but the two simply laugh because it feels like they're kids again. they share everything and anything to each other, often finding themselves in deep talks that leads to confiding to one another with their issues and worries.
and just like before when they were kids, seojun will always be there to protect haneul.

the favourite neighbour.
kang seulgi, twenty four, fashion designer
seulgi was immediately notified about her friend's return, and forced seojun to agree to her plan of a reunion.
'haneul!" seulgi excitedly screams out her name, running up to attack her in a bear hug. haneul is startled, but immediately returns the embrace.
"you're actually back!" seulgi exclaimed, briefly pulling away from the hug, "i missed you a lot."
haneul softly beams at her friend, embracing the latter once more. "i missed you too, seul. it's been a while huh?"
"oh, absolutely! do you know how hard it was for me to deal with the three idiots without you? i felt like dying." she dramatically tells her, linking her arms with haneul who chortles in amusement.
she missed the way seulgi would tell her stories.
haneul's friendship with seulgi go way back ever since they became neighbours. seojun, seulgi and haneul were three musketeers from elementary all the way till middle school where their trio turned into a tight-knit circle after haneul introduced her two classmates, jimin and taehyung.
haneul and seulgi could always relate with each other, even way before jimin and taehyung were in the picture. they often left seojun out who had to deal with the two gushing over their kpop idols or romance dramas. once their friendship circle expanded, haneul and seulgi ended up being one another's support as they dealt with the three boys and their constant shenanigans.
when haneul suddenly left, seulgi was left on her own. despite the distance, they both tried to keep in contact with each other though frequently went through months without talking, especially when they became busier and busier with their lives.
with haneul back in korea, seulgi often puts in a lot of effort to catch up with her. usually they text more often due to their busy work schedules, but seulgi makes lots of plans to meet up with her in cute cafes or to go shopping.
just in case haneul refuses, seulgi often makes up the "i need your help since you're a photographer and you know all about aesthetics" excuse unless she has another creative reason up her sleeves.
but she's well aware that the latter has a soft spot for her and knows that haneul wouldn't say no.

the best boy around.
park jimin, twenty four, web developer
haneul simply stares at jimin, a grin plastered on his face as he opens his arm wide. she playfully remains in her spot, flashing a mischievous smile that causes jimin to let out a sound of complaint.
"c'mon haneul! don't leave me hanging!"
the girl finally complies, snickering in the process before she's enveloped in his arms. "long time no see, lover boy." haneul teasingly says as soon as she breaks away from the hug.
"you better take care of seulbear or else."
jimin is shocked, glancing at seulgi who's equally surprised as to how their friend knew. he whips his head towards seojun, glaring at him.
"alright, before you call me a snitch. you were the ones posting photos of each other on instagram. it isn't my fault—she asked, so i answered." seojun defends himself as he raises his hands in the air.
watching her friends childishly bicker, haneul lets out a hearty laugh. she hasn't done in a while.
man, it felt good to be back home.
jimin and haneul met when they were fourteen, it was during eighth grade when they landed in the same class. eventually, they got close to the point where haneul introduced him and taehyung to her good friends, seojun and seulgi.
between the three boys in their circle, jimin was always the nicest and somehow the most mature, even if he did get carried away in joining seojun and taehyung's childishness quite often. jimin and haneul were quite similar to each other especially when they're always helping someone out. "wow, the angels strike again. you two makes us look so bad." their friends would jokingly say as they get patted on the backs for their good deeds.
the two always had a playful relationship; haneul doesn't recall a day where they're not mocking or teasing each other, and telling jokes. when haneul moved to canada, they talked every now and then with their conversations often starting off with a meme.
haneul and jimin catches up quite regularly as he often tags, or rather dragged, along in her outings with seulgi. he's the one who carries most of their things which, according to him, is the only reason why seulgi takes him along. although haneul begs to differ, watching their sweet interactions that it causes her to complain that they were making her third wheel their date.
"trust me, seojun's gone through worse."
"oh, i know. thank goodness i wasn't here."

her beloved.
KIM TAEHYUNG

BIRTHDATE.
301295, twenty four.
OCCUPATION.
editor in chief
FACE CLAIM.
bts, kim taehyung (김태형)
BACK UP.
soloist, ong seongwoo (옹성우)
personality.
attentive, conscientious, thoughtful
overly self-sufficient, guarded, stubborn
tags: enfp, type 7w8, capricorn, hufflepuff
taehyung has always been full of energy and a lot of enthusiasm. he was one who wanted to explore the world, and never hesistated to step out of his comfort zone. open-minded and imaginative, he's accepting of whatever life throws at him, heading on with determination.
many considered taehyung as eccentric; he's true to himself and isn't afraid to be different, people's judgement didn't really matter for him. he refused to be boxed in and be like everyone else.
taehyung is also admired for his hardwork. there isn't a single thing where he doesn't put in all his effort and diligence. whether it'd was studying or now leading a team of writers and editors, he will always be acknowledged for his work ethic.
however, taehyung couldn't escape the sad reality that the real world required losing that child-like carefree spirit, especially when he had to shadow his parents and their footsteps.
in all honesty, he never got to fully own that care-free spirit to begin with— he didn't get a chance to. taehyung was very diligent, to the point where he began to focus on his work more than anyone or anything else. with so much pressure on him, his desire to be a good boss caused him to forget how to be himself as he followed his parents.
taehyung had always been self-sufficient. he's the type to constantly refuse asking for help, even if he really needs it. majority of the time, he's in his own world trying to handle something on his own because he would never openly ask for help from anyone. his stubbornness is often the reason as to why he often gets himself into inconveniences or into slight trouble.
but another reason as to why taehyung, despite a huge social butterfly, seems to be in his own little world is due to his guarded attitude. he's stubborn and independent to a fault that taehyung isn't one to share his feelings and especially his problems. he expects that he can solve it with will power as well as sheer logic, thus doesn't see the need to tell other people about it.
although he often appears to be in his own world, one shouldn't be fooled by appearances. taehyung is observant and notices things that many simply overlook.
he may have changed over the years but there is a thing that remained. his watchful demeanor's still paired with his thoughtfulness. taehyung isn't too big on verbal affection, but his actions say it all. it's why haneul first fell for him.
tl;dr. wishes to be carefree, used to have a child-like attitude towards things but turned fairly strict and serious, a good leader, very caring and looks after those around him silently, scarily observant, a stubborn baby who can't accept help, 11/10 a workaholic.

background.
kim taehyung was born on december 30th as the eldest son in a wealthy family that owned a large magazine publishing company.
it was a family business which was passed down from his grandfather to his parents, his father in charge of the business side whilst his mother took control of the creative perspective.
well before taehyung was even born, his parents had already planned his life. thus, for as long as he could remember, taehyung lived by following order and routines as if he was a robot.
taehyung always craved to be free and he found it through school. whilst it was a place where study was important—his parents always forced him to get tutored—it was where taehyung found a small taste of freedom. there, he was a different person. lively and enthusiastic, he was rather cheeky and loved to laugh.
he was a good brother to his younger brother and sister, providing them with the affection that they never really got from their parents. he acted like a second parent to them, treating them the way he had always wanted to be treated by their parents.
taehyung, being a good brother, refused to let his siblings have their lives being controlled like his; he wanted them to be free, do the things they like and do whatever that was in their hearts. although he wasn't able to do any of those things, it doesn't mean that his siblings should fall in the same and unfortunate circumstance.
so taehyung followed the life his parents planned for him; he graduated high school, studied hard in university for a bachelor's degree in business and media communication.
now twenty four and quite the workaholic, he's an editor-in-chief for the family's company. working his way upwards, everyone knows that taehyung's the heir in training. it's just a matter of time when his father decides to step down.

lifestyle.
taehyung wakes up at four in the morning where the first thing he does is check his emails and his schedule for the day. he prepares his clothes and quickly gets ready, taking a brisk shower before he heads down for breakfast.
he is often greeted by his parents who are already prepared to head out to the office. as he eats his breakfast, which is often just black coffee and a slice of toast, his siblings are awake and hurriedly preparing for school; by the time they're running down the stairs to eat, taehyung has finished his breakfast.
taehyung is the one who drops them off to school and whilst he waits, he replies to emails or other small work-related tasks. by six in the morning, the kim siblings are in the car and he drops them off.
by seven or seven thirty, taehyung arrives early at the company. he heads to his office where as soon as he sits down, he immediately gets to work. an hour or two later, taehyung heads out to buy a cup of hot chocolate, sending a polite greeting to the employees along the way.
throughout the day, he juggles between handling meetings, replying to calls and emails as well as reviewing articles and photographers. taehyung is often cooped up in his office, unless attending a meeting or to tell someone to come in his office.
taehyung doesn't leave the office until eight, he's usually the last person to leave the building as he remains to finish the work he has for the day. but even when taehyung returns home, he eats dinner for a short while and isn't usually seen again until the next morning as he continues to do work. by midnight, taehyung decides to finally rest.
and his week always repeats in this vicious cycle of nothing but work even during weekends. he's often in the office from nine to five, unless forced by his friends or siblings to stop working for once and actually go out but being stubborn, taehyung rarely agrees to do so.

HIS STORY
prologue. a complicated world without an exit.
taehyung had always envied those around him. it wasn't the material things they had that made him feel jealous, it was how they were so carefree and light-hearted.
he wanted to be that way every single moment he could get. but taehyung only gets a small taste of what's it like when he's at school with the friends he treasured, the ones who make him laugh and feel like his age.
by the time school ends, he's back to acting like a robot. tutoring and extra lessons, learning another language, playing an instrument he doesn't enjoy. taehyung can't wait till he can be free.

chapters. i lost my path to the answer.
taehyung admires haneul's free spirit, the way her smile just brightens anyone's day, her bubbly and positive demeanor exuding in the way she lives. though she's unaware of it, haneul inspired him to be what he wanted to be. himself.
yet high school graduation comes around, and he has to enter a new chapter in his life. taehyung's parents places more pressure on him; attending a university they chose, studying a degree that suit their demands— sure, he's their son first but he's also the heir of their company.
taehyung doesn't need to be carefree, he can't be carefree. order, routine and schedules, that's how their world works and he needs to be the same.
slowly, but surely, taehyung forgets to be himself.

epilogue. let's only walk on flower paths.
years go by, and taehyung's caught in the motions of doing nothing but work. schedule and routine, his whole world revolves around it.
where did that carefree spirit go? (it's gone.)
however in attempt to help a friend out, he begins to change and slowly finds himself again.
taehyung finally finds that balance between being a good leader without losing his individuality. it took effort and hardwork, and it'll continue to be that way, but he swears that he isn't going to lose himself this time round.

writer's cut. for as long as taehyung could recall, he's been living a life that boxed him in. he wants to be himself, a carefree and curious spirit, but is met with pressures by his parents. he caves in and becomes a person he hates; he's strict, serious and inflexible. it isn't until he begins to help haneul to become who she once was, that he too becomes a changed person and finally begins to find himself.

ANOTHER LOVE STORY
[ act i. scene i. ]
"i hope our days will be beautiful."
starting eighth grade meant being in a new class. some were familiar faces, whilst others were new. haneul wasn't able to be in the same class as her friends, but seojun and seulgi weren't worried. it's haneul after all, she can easily make friends.
and that's exactly what haneul did. she befriended two boys, park jimin and kim taehyung.
when the two social butterflies met, they instantly clicked. eventually, jimin and taehyung joined her small circle of friends.
however, it was obvious that haneul and taehyung became the closest out of that friendship group.

[ act i. scene ii. ]
"the friend label is a label i got to hate."
haneul and taehyung were very close friends even to the point where their friends complained that they were always together. on those rare days that taehyung was free, they would hang out together and during their breaks, the two would find time to chill just by themselves.
they were comfortable with each other's company and found themselves confiding their problems. they were friends, and they treasured it.
until haneul began to hate how the word "friends" seemed to roll off taehyung's tongue so easily.
haneul was eighteen when she woke up one day and gradually started to feel differently about him and their friendship. the same affection, the same hugs and the same treatment but somehow felt so different.
haneul fell in love.

[ act ii. scene i. ]
"when you love someone so
much that it overflows."
a month flies since she realised her own feelings, haneul kept it to herself and never told a soul. but feelings aside, they were close to graduating.
as a result, their school organised a senior trip to japan for a week and the two friend spent most of their time stuck to each other during that trip.
yet by the end of it, taehyung found himself deep in love with another girl, kim jina.
haneul was devastated but nevertheless, kept her bubbly demeanor. she saw how ecstatic taehyung was whenever he was around jina, the sparkles in his eyes when he talks about her, and the way she made him feel.
though it hurt, haneul was happy to see taehyung like that. her love for him, both out of friendship and in a romantic aspect, could never be selfish.
having him to herself would be selfish so haneul decided to let him go.

[ act ii. scene ii. ]
"the story ended without even starting."
they finally graduated from high school when she was met with the sudden news of her parents' curt decision of divorce.
haneul who bore so much emotions; anxiousness, hurt, anger, heartache, all of which she bottled up caused her heart to finally shatter into pieces. she was slowly accepting the reality of her unrequited first love, but it was her parents separating that led to her breaking.
without even saying a goodbye, haneul left korea and flew to canada.
taehyung tried to keep in contact with her during those times; he would initiate conversations, tried to call her up and reply to her snapchats yet most of the time was either met with nothing, or haneul curtly replying.
whenever haneul was in korea to visit her father, taehyung would always be busy caught up in his family's business-related affairs. she avoided him in hopes that she could get over him while he had began to focus more on his study and work.
just like that, they became old, distant friends.

[ act iii. scene iii. ]
"it doesn't seem like you.
i miss you from back then."
when haneul returned to settle down in korea, he first heard it from his friends. taehyung instantly perked up when he heard her name for the first time since years.
their friends tell him how haneul's changed and it left him bothered when he began to wonder what happened to her.
they don't meet until haneul's hired by his parents' company as a professional photographer. haneul was well aware of what she was in for, but it still didn't change the fact that they were surprised to see each other after years of having little contact.
taehyung manages to catch her alone and begin to initiate a conversation. it was rather awkward; the way her smile didn't go from ear to ear, how his eyes no longer had that playful glint, their pauses and brief moments of silence, their overly formal and distant demeanors.
it didn't take long for them to see the changes in each other. they used to be close friends who told everything to each other, they used to be so light-hearted and free together. but now, it's almost as if they didn't know each other at all.
the time that passed between them, after years of seldom contact, was evident in the way they had changed.
they used to be close friends.
but now they're like strangers.

[ act iii. scene ii. ]
"your words, your actions, your attitude
have all changed. i can't even remember
how you were before."
seojun is tired of keeping it to himself. he's tired of the fact that haneul and taehyung had used him for years as a middle man, yet when they reunited after all this time, they act as complete strangers.
haneul, during her time away, often asked about taehyung. whenever her chats with seojun landed on the subject of home or whenever they relived their fond memories in high school, haneul would ask about him.
it was much harder for taehyung though.
taehyung during those tough years, regardless of his location—his lunch breaks, on nights where sleep was nowhere near, at a party drunk off his at two am, on days where the memories just flood in—he found himself texting seojun. when they meet up, text or call, his mind always lands on haneul one way or another.
seojun was the closest person that taehyung ever got to her, to know how she's doing or what she's up to. it hurt to know that he used to know every single thing about her, but led to asking someone else about her.
it hurt taehyung that despite all this time, seojun still had a close friendship with haneul. whenever he came by to visit her, or when their group met up, taehyung saw glimpses of her old self when she was around seojun. it'd be a lie to say that he wasn't envious because seeing them interact left a bitter taste in his mouth.
enough was enough. seojun is sick of it; he wasn't going to do anything about it at first. he knew that it was a problem they had to solve by themselves, but seeing neither yield, he took it upon himself to help them start over again.
"you and i know that haneul's changed. i can tell that you don't like it too, so you're going to be the one to change her back."
"why do i have to do it? you're closer to her."
"wow tae, how nice of you to throw shade— but would i really be asking for your help if i knew how to? clearly not. you're the only one who can do it, just trust me."

[act iii. scene iii.]
"i want to find the lost days again.
i want to turn you back."
after deliberately thinking about seojun's words, over and over again like a broken record, he takes it upon himself to help haneul change.
taehyung started off subtle, he began to leave his office in the morning to greet his employees and make a bee line to haneul's desk where he makes a small conversation. he overheard her talk about her love for coffee, and began to secretly leave a cup of coffee on her desk with a sticky note on it where he drew the smiley face he always drew on her notebooks back in high school.
"can we start over? i don't what happened or why our friendship fell apart, but i want to start over." he told her sincerely that it made her heart skip a small beat.
haneul was honestly scared, she tried to forget the feelings she had and the heartache that followed as a result of those feelings. though she hates to admit it, a part of it still remains but the heartache was going to be worth it right?
"i'd like that, taehyung." she told him and the way his face lit up proved to herself that the heartache will be worth it.
thus, taehyung and haneul began to rebuild their friendship. they slowly pick up from where they left off years ago and in a steady manner they've became close friends.
as they progressed with their friendship, taehyung helps haneul to be herself again. he missed who she was before—the girl who was so genuine that it left him in awe.
and he was determined to get her back.
but as he goes out of his way to help her, haneul helps him change. taehyung was beginning to be himself, to express his out-of-the-box attitude and it felt great.
together, they were changing each other.

[ act iv. scene i. ]
"why do i stare at the ceiling every night?"
their friendship is restored, they're back to being close friends like the good old days. they see each other quite a lot, more often than anyone else and the office has become so much livelier with their little antics and jokes.
but more often than not, taehyung finds himself up at night thinking about haneul. she's the reason he kicks his blankets to and fro, why he just can't seem to sleep and why he's having trouble to fall asleep.
haneul has always been beautiful to him, but why is it so different these days? did she do something differently? no, she looks exactly the same. pretty as the day before, pretty as the day after.
one night at an ungodly hour, spending the past few hours staring at the ceiling, he jolts up as it finally hits him.
he's falling for her.

[ act iv. scene ii. ]
"the unsaid words that still remain."
taehyung and haneul found themselves at a park, sitting on the swings after they had dinner. it was a usual occurrence for the two to eat out when haneul senses that his workaholic tendency begin to kick in. forcing him to eat dinner with her was an effective way to stop him from going home so late.
they're in those moments where just having each other's company was enough. they didn't need to talk as long as they were together.
"doha."
"kimtae."
"have you ever been in love?" taehyung asked her to break the silence.
it catches her off guard but she knows it's just one of their deep conversations. haneul hummed as a response, nodding to confirm her answer.
"what was it like?"
"it was nice at first. it was breathtaking, like i was walking on a path full of flowers." she described to him, and he felt envious for that short moment because he wasn't the one who made her feel that way (or so he thought) yet his envy is replaced with curiosity after he hears the next words.
"but it eventually began to hurt and i guess that's what happens when you fall in love at the wrong time." haneul finished, a bitter smile on her face.
"what about you? i know you've been in love. i was there when you started dating jina." haneul asked, ignoring the twinge in her heart.
"like you said, it was nice at first. but somehow i found myself telling her that i loved her and the very next day, i couldn't bear to say it."
there's silence on both ends, haneul knew that he didn't want to elaborate further— his relationship with jina was a constant on and off that it lead to them amicably ending it.
"why was it a wrong time?" he asked again.
"he fell for someone else, so i had to let go."
"did...did you ever tell him that you loved him?"
"no." haneul answered, her gaze remaining on the ground. she's too afraid to meet him in the eyes as she knows he'll catch on, "i left before i could."
taehyung's breath hitches as he remembered how hurt he was over the fact that she seemed to be in frequent contact with everyone but him, how she simply sent brief messages to him while seulgi or jimin had spent an hour video chatting her.
and he finally puts two and two together.
"was that person you—" taehyung tries to ask, he stumbles upon words and his thoughts become a bit too jumbled, "he...am i the one you loved?"
haneul bites her tongue down, scared to admit it out loud but her silence said it all for him.
yes, he was.
taehyung lets out a pained laugh as emotions start to flood his heart. "i'm an idiot— why,, for years i was so angry at the fact that everyone else but me had knowledge of how you were doing." he starts to rant, a hand reaching up to ruffle his hair, "i used to text seojun whenever i thought of you. i used to ask him whether you still thought of me, or whether you still cared about me. but i finally get it....i hurt you and i had no clue."
"it's okay, tae. it's already past now."

[ act iv. the final scene. ]
"i can't stop loving you."
"can i ask you something?" taehyung asked again after a long silence fell upon them.
"do you still love him?" he questioned as if the person he was talking about wasn't him, because he assumed that hearing her say 'no' won't hurt as much if he asked in such a manner.
haneul pauses for a moment, she's hesitant to tell the truth but her heart couldn't lie.
"i don't think i ever stopped loving him," haneul truthfully says, "i spent all my time ignoring him and dating other people in hopes that my feelings would go away, but at the end of the day, he was the one i thought of. whether he was eating well or sleeping, if his relationship was going well, or if he still can't ask for help especially when he's falling sick."
his heart flipped at her words.
"it didn't matter if he was my friend or he was my first love. i love him regardless, even now."
haneul's voice is shaky, she's at a vulnerable point and all he could do was hug her before her tears could fall.
"i'm sorry, sunshine." taehyung's voice is hushed, his hand rubbing her back, "i'm sorry for hurting you, for how time treated you so harshly, for how i wasn't there beside you when you were hurting the most."
haneul shakes her head as he apologises but she's caught off guard for the next thing he apologises for.
"i'm sorry that i fell in love with you now, when i could have loved you all this time."

writer's cut. the ideal ending would be haneul and taehyung getting together afterwards, but i'm not too sure how realistic it'd be, so i'll leave it with you aheh c:

THEIR STORY
i.
who liked who first?
haneul was the one who fell in love first. it was a sudden effect. one day the hug he gave her meant nothing but friendship, but the next day it got her heart pounding.
the smile he would send her way would leave her breathless, his laughter made her heart melt into a puddle and the way he treated her made her heart skip a beat.
ii.
the problems in their relationship.
sadly, it began as an unrequited love story. haneul let him go as taehyung fell for someone else.
when she suddenly left, taehyung was crushed yet every time he tried to contact her, it led nowhere. haneul tried to ignore him as much as she could, hoping that her feelings would disappear since he was no longer in sight.
they began to drift apart, and they went through life without contacting each other. they were like strangers, so distant and so far away. but deep in their hearts, they still searched for one another.
when haneul returns for good, they rebuild their broken friendship. slowly picking up from where they left off.
iii.
affected and affecting.
whilst taehyung was oblivious at first, haneul was heartbroken. it was mainly her parents separation that led to her change, but part was from her first love.
taehyung felt hurt when haneul moved countries, he had no contact with her yet somehow all their friends had some clue on how she was. it was like she was ignoring him, yet she excused it as being busy, telling him how different schooling was.
they spent a long time apart and during those few years, they matured and grew, but also changed in ways they didn't expect.
haneul always believed she would be optimistic, while taehyung thought he would be free from his parents suffocating demands. but as everyone has said, we can't have everything we want.
