— JULIA HAYES.
ria / vadrat / 3.5
NICKNAMES. —
♚ — JULES; her go-to name. she was Julia before Hogwarts, she distinctly remembers that. But in the first month of the first year, she somehow became Jules - it might've Brandon, it might've been any of her dormmates. but ever since, Julia has stopped being Julia. Jules is so much more iconic anyway. It has this badass ring to it, like you just know this person is awesome.

AGE — seventeen
BIRTHDAY — September 29

BIRTH PLACE — manchester, uk
HOMETOWN — manchester, uk

ETHNICITY — british
BLOOD STATUS — muggle-born
SORTED INTO — gryffindor
LANGUAGES —
♚ — ENGLISH;  native

— LOOK SHARP.
FACE CLAIM — amber heard

BACK UP FACE CLAIM — blake lively

APPEARANCE —

Jules' casual aura of confidence definitely adds to her attractive factor - it's just easy to add "the hot Gryffindor" before "did this -insert wild thing- yesterday". She's tall, she's lean, she's blonde. She always has a mischievous sort of smile on her lips, and it's been a universal truth since the beginning of the ages that girls who command their bodies like the destructive weapons that they are, especially in the not quite conservative not quite progressive 70s, are ing hot. Rock n Roll is a great teacher - it preaches freedom, and drugs, and , and that a girl doesn't have to be married or a e to enjoy any of those. So when her mother frowns at the height of her skirt and her shirts, Jules shrugs, and when her grandmother says something about the shade of her lipgloss and mascara, Jules smiles and tries to explain that the new age is here, and women can do whatever the they want now. And damn if teenage boys of all magical abilities find that hot. To be honest, so does Jules.

STYLE

when she's not in her Hogwarts uniform (sleeves pushed up, skirt pushed up, loose tie, hat discarded at the very bottom of her trunk), Jules proudly sports muggle clothes around the castle. Shorts, especially jeans shorts, are a favorite of hers and a staple of her wardrobe anytime it's not too cold for them. She is more of pants rather than skirts type of girl - band t-shirts, tank tops, jeans (sometimes regular pants, sometimes the classic bell-bottoms that were dominant in the 70s), leather jacket, leather boots. Think Hyde from that 70s Show, but without sunglasses, sideburns, and with s.

— LOOK SMART.
PERSONALITY
♚ brave, reckless, opinionated, stubborn, independent, outgoing, friendly, confident but still has her fair share of insecurities

Jules' most desired dream is to be a real-life Charlie's Angel, and it shows. Her wizardfolk friends don't understand, but the muggle-borns around Hogwarts would probably nod in agreement, because yeah. She has the blonde hair, the confident sway of hips, the half-flirty half-cocky smile, the desire to be a hero and bring justice to the world.

Jules is driven by a very strong set of morals, the telltale bravery of all Gryffindors, and a confident mouth that is never afraid to spit out her opinions about the world. She is a strong believer of justice and equality, both in the muggle and magical worlds. Growing up with the rise of Feminism and freedom of the seventies has given her a liberal, outgoing mind - one that her generally conservative mother can't help but frown at. Jules doesn't care. She believes that she should never be ashamed of what she believes in and thinks is the truth, and is not afraid to fight for it, be it against her mom, these pureblood elitists, or even ing You-Know-Who himself. Right and Wrong exist in the world, and people have a choice - fight or flight, defend the things you believe in or cower in the corner. And Jules has never been a coward. In the muggle world, she stands up against a middle-aged man that, after finishing oggling her legs, tells her that she should not dress up like a . in the wizarding world, she takes out her wand and hexes Rosier for calling her a filthy mudblood. it gets her a week worth of detention ("You do not take matters into your own hands, Miss Hayes, no matter how despicable the matter was"), but it's more than ing worth it, because two days later a fourth-year muggleborn stands up against a blood elitist and punches him in the face. Jules considers it mission accomplished. Inspiring others to stand up, to act, to defend what is right in the world, that is the most important job in the world.

(it's not as innocent as it seems. if Jules thinks you deserve punishment, you will get it. she's not afraid of hexing people, and her recklessness ensures that when angered she hits first and asks second, too stubborn to think that she is anything but right in these situations. because what she thinks is right, is right. she doesn't tolerate racism and elitism, but at the same time she doesn't show any compassion for people like this, even when they deserve it)

She tries to do it every day, be it a grand gesture like defending a first-year against a bully, or as small as smiling at her classmates and asking how they slept at night. She is naturally outgoing and quite friendly to the people she doesn't dislike, and finds it very fun to just hang around with people. She prefers company to being alone, because that's where the fun's at! In truth, she's never learned how to be alone with herself, so she always seeks someone to spend her time with, be it a boyfriend or just friends. Though she does really like people. She loves talking, loves partying, loves the attention she gives others and loves even more the attention she receives from them. There's nothing like hearing, "Oh, Hayes? Yeah, she's really cool!" or "She's really funny and nice and like her legs go on for miles" - popularity is as addictive as drugs. It's the chicken and the egg, which came first? Her popularity boosting her confidence boosting her popularity and on and on and on. Jules has always been fairly confident in herself, but there's nothing like hearing that others think that way about her. That affirmation of her beliefs, those compliments boost her self esteem and tell her that she is on the right path.

But then there are people who disagree. People who don't care. People who look at Jules and sneer, and scoff, and call her a filthy mudblood. And there is nothing Jules can do to change their opinion. It drives her mad. It goes against everything she believes in - her morals of right and wrong, her belief in freedom and equality. This is the front in which she fights most. She tries not to care, she really does. It affects her more than she'd like to admit. it's easy to say " them" and act like a badass, but so very hard to feel like a badass on the inside. She's pretty, she's funny, she's awesome, it should be enough. The mudblood thing shouldn't matter. And yet it does, and it screws Jules over again and again, this idea that someone thinks she is inferior to them because of how she was born. It deflates her and boils her blood at the same time. She wants to cry, and she wants to tear them apart piece by piece until they know to respect her for who she is. So she does. She proves herself better, and she kicks their asses, and she gets detention after detention but it doesn't matter. Not doing anything goes against everything she believes in, and Jules could never betray herself like that. She is very vocal about her opinions and what she thinks should be. Pureblood elitists can go themselves as much as she's concerned, and it appalls her that they are such a big part of the wizarding world. She loves magic, but this part... this part of it is ugly and wicked and she would (no, she will) do everything in her power to change that.

Because the wizarding world deserves it. Jules is in love with it. It is everything she was told was a fairytale, and being a part of it is basically being in a fairytale. At the same time, the mundane world is wickedly cool too. Technology kicks , as does the innovation that comes with it. Flying on a broom is ing amazing, but watching Charlie's Angels in color on TV is just as cool. Transfigurating a teacup into a mouse is mindblowing, but talking on the phone though. In all honesty, Jules doesn't understand why these two worlds exist apart from each other - the potential the world has, what could happen if these two were combined, it's beautiful. So many people choose sides like it's a bloody war - you're either a wizard or a muggle. But why? There is right and wrong in this world, but this is not one of these situations. Both worlds have so many awesome things to them, and Jules refuses to choose.

♚ tl;dr:

The popular girl for a reason: pretty, smart, confident, funny, and fun to be around. Loves the attention it gives her, feeds off of compliments and affirmation of what she already thinks about herself.

Has a very strong urge to prove herself, despite always acting that she is better than it. Doesn't even quite understand that she's doing it; thinks she's a badass who doesn't give a , but in reality tries to prove her own worth all the time, which is why popularity and praise are so important and addictive to her.

Very strong morals and beliefs, and a loud, confident mouth to speak them. Constantly fights against the inequality in the wizarding (and non-wizarding) community. Very liberal (rock'n'roll baby) and does not tolerate conservative bull. Will defend what she thinks is right with punches or hexes, and will stand up to bullies and help those who are bullied, although mostly would only help people who she doesn't think deserve it.

Hates the elitism of blood purity with her entire being, and her desire to prove herself stems mostly from the discrimination and insults she's faced for six years from them. Thinks that the muggle world is just as wonderful as the magical one, and is pretty much stuck in the middle of it since her wizard friends don't get all the muggle things, and the muggles can't know about magic. Has this grand idea that they should be combined, everyone should be exposed to everything, because it could lead to so much good. Doesn't think about how there are a few legitimate reasons as to why these two worlds are apart from each other, and how it's not so simple to connect them and discard centuries of prejudice on the wizard part and disbelief and mass hysteria on the muggle part. Thinks she's the one for the job. That's what Charlie's Angels would do, after all.

— LOOK BACK.
PAST —

Jules Hayes' childhood was rather ordinary, until a weird looking man arrived at her home in Manchester on the eve of her eleventh birthday, that is.

Apparently, magic was real and Jules was a witch, according to one Professor Dumbledore of Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry. Her parents, skeptical at first despite some of Jules' abnormal behavior, were quickly turned into believers with a showcase of spells. To Jules, however, it was like a dream come true. A rollercoaster of a year later, Jules was on the train to Hogwarts, and her life was forever changed.

She fell in love with the magic world immediately. Everything about it was wonderful, and magical, and Jules was amazed. She made friends with her Gryffindor housemates rather quickly, most notably fellow year mate Brandon Young. She was quickly disillusioned about the wonders of the magical world thanks to the children of pureblood elitists who did not fail to explain to her, in full detail, why her blood is filthy and inferior to theirs. Still, the support she received from her housemates and the teachers outweighed the negativity, and with every year spent at Hogwarts, Jules grew more in love with the magical world. At the same time, with every summer spent at home, Jules fell more and more in love with what the ordinary world had to offer. Without a tv, phones, and disc players for most of her year, she grew to love and appreciate the technology muggles offered. She thought muggle fashion was so much better, the bands more artistic and creative, and the minds more progressive and on the right track to change. She would read magical books over summer break and play quidditch when she visited Brandon, and during school year gush over the movies she's seen during summer and the new songs her favorite bands released. Most people found it endearing, even if wizarding folk thought it a bit weird. The elitists sneered down on her more than ever, but Jules grew a thick skin and a pair of beach sized lady balls, and refused to let them win.

She was already known as somewhat of a troublemaker as Brandon's side-along, but as she grew Jules got into more detentions for hexing Slytherins who called her or anyone else mudbloods, or did anything she thought was racist and humiliating. She was charming enough that most teachers found her endearing anyway, even if other school staff thought she was too much trouble. McGonagall had a special relationship with Jules - an exasperated sort of parenthood, where the professor would approve of the girl's behavior, but try to discipline her into subtlety and level-headedness through a record number of detentions (broken only by Brandon, Sirius and James, and later the Weasley twins). It didn't help in the slightest.

PRESENT —

Jules doesn't really know what she wants to do in life. She knows that she wants to help and influence people to be better versions of themselves (or at least what she thinks is better), but she doesn't quite know what to do. She thinks she wants to be a bridge between the muggle world and the wizarding world, which most likely means working in the ministry, probably in the Muggle Liason Office that's responsible for wizard-muggle relations. She's not the best fit for an office job, but Jules has always had this vague dream of connecting the two worlds (and it is very vague, as she doesn't quite have an answer as to how she can do that without causing mass hysteria or war). Another dream she has is to teach at Hogwarts one day, perhaps like Professor Slughorn who has been a potioneer first and a professor second, teaching out of a drive to teach rather than as a profession.

♚ The N.E.W.T level classes she is taking are: muggle studies, charms, defence against the dark arts, transfiguration, and potions (solely for Professor Slughorn's sake).
♚ has been on the Gryffindor Quidditch team since her third year, playing as a chaser.

Jules hangs out with Brandon a lot (in various levels of intoxication), and with her two s of proteges, James and Sirius. She's generally smart, but doesn't take the subjects her seriously as she should, as she is busy juggling spending time hanging out with people, partying, playing quidditch, and cramming the night before any assignment or an exam. She's good enough that she rarely fails, and achieves pretty good marks, but she's always chastised by McGonagall and sometimes Slughorn for not applying herself fully to her studies.

♚ She spends a lot of time in Quidditch practice thanks to Gideon being an absolute ing hardass, which is both extremely fun and frustrating.
♚ Has been a part of the Slug Club since last year, when Slughorn decided to invite her after witnessing her hex Avery after he kicked her off a broom during a match. Has full intentions of using Slughorn's connections to get her future job, whatever it may be, and is taking Potions simply to appease him and stay on his good side.

TRIVIA —

♚ Jules has been sneaking weed into Hogwarts for the second year in a row. At first it was solely for recreational purposes for her and her wizarding friends who have never tried it, but it became somewhat of a sensation. This year, she brought a quantity that is considerably larger. For business investment, probably.
♚ Has a wand from Cherry, with dragon heartstring for a core.
♚ Her Patronus would be a dolphin.
♚ She doesn't understand fully the weight of the Wizarding War raging over Britain until this year. It's always been something that's somewhat far away, the thing she reads in the papers and hears from her friends. But since she's always been at Hogwarts or with her muggle parents, she's never experienced it herself and has a bit of trouble understanding the full extent of it.
♚ Jules' boggart has always been of dying. Before being exposed to the war, it was by a gun wound or a knife. Now, it's flashes of magic and her dead body and cackles of "let's open her up and see if there really is mud inside".
♚ Jules used to have a crush on Rodulphus Lestrange once, when she was a second-year. It all turned sour really quickly after she confessed and he said he'd never touch a mudblood in front of the entire class.
♚ Her favorite professor is Slughorn, because she loves how much he loves her and how easy it is to make him love her. But she feels the most accomplished when McGonagall approves of her.
♚ Has a lot of muggle references, mainly from music she listens to and the movies she loves. Doesn't filter herself when she's with her pureblood friends, because she feels like educating them on muggle culture will help bridge the gap. So far it works marvelously on Sirius and James.
♚ Owns her own broom, the Nimbus 1700, which she got as a present for her 15th birthday from her parents.
♚ Her favorite band is, quite unoriginally, Queen, but Jules thinks there's a reason to their success and they are definitely worth the hype. She also loves the Pistols, AC/DC, and Judas' Priest.
♚ Jules is a reckless Quidditch player, believing in high risk high reward. She improvises a lot of times, going against Gideon's game plans, which sometimes secures a win (and sometimes does nothing but hinder their progress). It drives Gideon nuts.

— LOOK AROUND.
FAMILY —
mother & father / hayes, joseph & hayes, lisa / 45 & 45 /
Jules loves her parents, of course. She adores them. They're good parents, except for how conservative and old-fashioned and old-minded they can be. She is too independent to feel like their little girl anymore. She honestly feels like she's grown by herself, and doesn't really consider them as authority anymore.

FRIENDS —

best friend, probably / young, brandon / 16 /
Jules doesn't remember when exactly she and Brandon became best friends. Sometime during first, or maybe second year, they became inseparable. Jules thinks that he's too cocky for his own good, and man can he be an arse sometimes, but honestly? that just makes him all the better. Troublemakers make for the best friends. They're pretty similar, both outgoing and fun-loving, both liberal and open to experiences. She would kill for him, probably, if it came to it, that's how close they are. Sometimes her feelings for him get confusing, if only a bit - like when they drink one of his potions and talk about life, and he smiles in a way that sends a pang to her heart. It's never quite the same thing she has with Gideon, which is a relief since Jules values their friendship too much to ruin it. She smuggled weed into the castle for him, that should say enough about what she's willing to do for him.

es/proteges/friends/mostly es / potter, james & black, sirius / 15
jules loves the marauders, all of them, but there's a soft spot in her heart for james potter and sirius black. she has official adopted the younger guys under her wing, since it's only fitting for the popular girl and guys of gryffindor to hang out together. They're not as close as Jules and Brandon since Sirius and James don't like the older boy very much (which is a damned shame, as Jules tries to lecture them into liking her best friend on every possible opportunity), but they're fun and awesome and they flirt with her which always gives her a nice boost in confidence even if there's no way on earth she'd day any of them. She will get them into some bell bottoms though. They'd look really hot in muggle fashion, the world needs to see it!

dormates/ six-year gryffindors

♚ cattlemore, romina / face claim: sydney sweeney
a muggle-born witch from quite a poor family, always wanted a better life for herself, didn't care about ambitions, just wanted to be a housewife to be honest. has turned love into an art form - she loves the boyfriends that she has, but she's learned to take the best out of a relationship to benefit her. always goes for wealthy guys, but purebloods usually look down on her since she's a muggleborn. (will eventually decide to just live in the muggle world, meet a rich muggle by the name of Rick Finnigan, their marriage is pretty much broken and full of nasty , even though they properly love each other).

♚ chang, fei hua / face claim: victoria song
fei wanted to be the minister for magic since she was a child. she is very intelligent and has ambitions that could rival some slytherins, but has a rigid backbone and a set of morals set in stone to back her up in her endeavor. she is very by-the-book and even uptight, but that makes it all the more fun to drag her to parties or offer her one of Brandon's new creations. she gives in, though rarely, and regrets it in the morning with shyness that makes jules want to protect her from the world. or watch her burn it to the ground. whichever mood fei's in.

♚ shacklebot, regina/ face claim: ashleigh murray
regina always lived in the shadow of her cousin kingsley, and has learned from a young age that there is no beating him, so there's no reason to even try. she's laidback, lazy, and doesn't like thinking about the future, preferring to live in the moment and enjoy life as it is. her only three n.e.w.ts are care for magical studies, herbology, and music, which she is taking solely so that her family won't nag her about not having a diploma. despite everything, she loves her older cousin to death, and 10/10 would kill for him.

♚ brown, iris/ face claim: phoebe tonkin
iris has never had to worry about anything other than growing up and getting married to a good, pure-blood wizard. her family isn't as conservative or elitist as, say, the Slytherins, and she always tries to treat muggleborns nicely, but some things can't be erased completely - she is more ignorant than malicious, and has been taught all her life that muggles are inferior and behind culturally, morally, and essentially subpar to wizards, but not in a bad way - in the we need to help them cause they're poor way. so sometimes she says an insensitive thing, and it pisses jules off, but all in all she's not the worst, a bit vain but otherwise a nice dormmate. still, she is jules' least favorite.

feel free to replace any of these girls with a sixth-year gryffindor app if it comes! they're mostly here to fill space xD

OTHERS
— and now you can tell us about those who your character might not be particularly close enough to consider some sort of friend. don't forget to copy and paste the format below as many times as you need to! there's no limit to how many people you include but please only include those who you think are relevant and important.

potions professor / slughorn, horace/
while she respects Professor Mcgonagall the most, Jules' favorite teacher has to be Professor Slughorn. he's supposed to be everything she hates - a pure-blood slytherin who has grown with power and money. But Professor Slughorn doesn't care about blood purity and invites people to his club without discrimination, only based on who he'll think will become great. he showers praise upon those he think deserve it, and jules is amongst them which ensures she gets her fix of compliments and affirmation of self. He doesn't mind her more cheeky retorts, in fact he subtly encourages them, and he is very easy to charm and fluster. he wants her to do great, but not in the hardass way Mcgonagall does - he cares less for the rules, and more about how she can apply herself to her full potential. Which means a lot of discussions of politics during and after slug club, his promises to help her get there, and her promises to always buy him sweets when she goes to hogsmeade. She would've never in a million years taken potions on a NEWTs level if Slughorn wasn't professor.

worst thing about the school / lestrange, rodulphus/
back in second year, Jules has developed a crush on Rodd. who could blame her? he was so handsome with his big blue eyes and smirk and he carried himself like he was older than the rest of the boys, better than them. she wasn't shy about it, either. jules never cared. she went to him, and told him how she feels. And then Rodulphus Lestrange sneered at her and told her he would never, not in a million years, touch a filthy mudblood. And thus Jules was introduced to the full extent of blood purity and its politics, and has never been the same again. needless to say, there is not a single person she hates more than Lestrange. She doesn't really know him, hasn't talked to him more than a few times since then, but she doesn't want to and she doesn't care. she can only see an arrogant who is so ed in the head they should lock him up before he becomes Hitler.

— THE CRUSH

NAME — Gideon Prewett
FACE CLAIM — Jensen Ackles (in Days of Our Lives/Smallville)

SUMMARY —

Gideon is the youngest of the Prewett siblings, a bright seven-year Gryffindor who everybody say is going to be the next big thing in Quidditch. He takes himself and Quidditch very seriously, since he knows this is where his future lies. He's very passionate and competitive, not just in Quidditch but in everything, and fights for what he thinks is right just as intensely as Jules. He is the definition of a hardass with his 4 Quidditch practices a day and the way he couches the team, but in his defence it pays off spectacularly. He's very good at what he does - some of his plays and tactics during matches have already attracted minds in the Quidditch world, and a few offers have already been offered to him. Despite that, he's fairly humble when it comes to his skill, putting down the team's success to the other players. He's a great team player, and a great leader despite his hardass tendencies. But his passion and competitive nature tend to get the best of him.

He and Jules had been going at it like rabbits for almost two years now.

Their relationship is legendary around school, it's so bad people have bets going around school on when they're going to break up/get together. they all know it's a question of when, not if - the intensity of their eye is too much for it to be anything casual. they're masochists, really, and infuriating at times, but mostly provides quality entertainment for the rest of the students.

They first started dating when Jules was fifteen, after a very long time of longing looks and coy smiles and lingering hands during Quidditch practice. But Jules quickly remembered that beyond the hot body and bright mind, Gideon was a real pain in the . She should've known he'd be as insufferable in a relationship as he was during practice.

Both of them are very opinionated and stubborn and passionate, which means they clash a lot and fight a lot and break up a lot and do it very passionately. She loves him, and he loves her, but damn if they're not driving each other insane.

It's always the same thing, though. They break up, and Jules is convinced that this is the last time. "Never again, he's a and I'm over his ungrateful hardass who takes himself waaaay to seriously" Gideon is so convinced that he's not going to be dumb again, "She's crazy and impossible and not worth it"

So they break up. And then thirst over each other for a few weeks. each other with their eyes and yell at each other during Quidditch practice. Then they'd each other for real, a few times for good measure. And then they're back together because Jules really does love Gideon and Gideon really does love Jules.

Their last breakup was during summer break. Jules is so over him. Gideon is so over Jules. They're totally not already checking each other out the moment they see each other on the train back to Hogwarts. A bet is already in place, most people say that by the end of September they're going to be making out in the broom closets again.
