appearance and style

With slender legs and a good posture, Riyeon looks taller than she actually is. She looks taller than her abducted twin/cloning experiment Kim Jisoo, at least, and she's very happy about it. What she's not happy about is that High Rise apparently decided to send her to the same surgeon as YG - before plastic surgery she looked more unique, she thinks, or at least not as similar to her Blackpink counterpart. She looks a lot prettier now with her double eyelids and slender nose, she knows, and she likes how she looks now. It still stings, a bit. She wonders if Jisoo will feel the same once she debuts. (170cm, 52kg)

Riyeon likes showing off her assets, mainly her toned stomach and slender legs. Crop tops, shorts, and tight pants are very prominent in her wardrobe (and in the clothes the stylists usually give her when stylist dress her), a lot more than dresses and skirts that just don't look quite as good on her, much to Riyeon's dismay. She is also a huge fan of earrings and rings, and has a huge collection of various items she bought over the years on display in her dorm. She wishes she was better at makeup, but she's never quite managed to master that elusive art, so she relies on the stylists and the other trainees to help her whenever she wants to do something that's harder than the basic eyebrows+mascara+lip tint combo.

LEE, RIYEON

TRAINER EVALUATION BY KIM DONGHAN

To say that Lee Riyeon is lacking in certain areas of her personality would be an understatement. Her improvement during the year and a half of her training under the company, while without a doubt noticeable, has been lower than our expectations of her. Whether our expectations were too high or she was just too lazy, I can't say, though I suspect it's a combination of the two. It is obvious that she is dedicated to the goal of becoming an idol, but there is little beyond that - compared to trainees like Ji Yue and Nam Younghae, who I have personally trained and seen their progress over the years, she is simply subpar.

And that is not to speak of the concerning increase of suspicious activity around the trainees ever since Lee Riyeon has joined. I cannot count all of the times that I suspect the trainees have snuck out, under her influence and guidance. Never, not even once, have I seen her express guilt or remorse, when I would question her over why she and the younger girls look like they barely got any sleep, or why there were candy wraps behind the trash bin down the hall. Always the same pretentiously innocent smile, always the patronizing "maybe you forgot you had some candies, ssaem?" like I'm some old, senile fool that - I have no doubt that all of the misbehaviors have been orchestrated by Lee Riyeon. Is this the kind of girl we want to represent the good name of High Rise Entertainment?

After that ridiculous Re:Vive scandal (who, may I add, have redeemable qualities behind them), we cannot afford any mishaps. Lee Riyeon is a bad singer, a bad dancer, a bad rapper. She is lazy and irresponsible, does not respect authority, and frankly a danger to put in a group. I would not recommend putting her in the project group.

Oh come on Donghan-oppa, isn't that a bit of a stretch? You've had a grudge against the girl for almost two whole years, isn't it the time to let go? I always thought you were better than to have your judgment clouded for objective evaluations. What was so bad that you've remained mad for all this time? ... Don't tell me it's about the voice crack? It is, is it?

While Lee Riyeon is certainly not our most skilled trainee when it comes to singing, rapping, and dancing, we at High Rise know all too well that these do not an idol make. Let the other members belt those high notes or do impressive dance breaks. Lee Riyeon has something that is just as important. We have all seen her connection to the other female trainees - all of us, don't deny it Donghan-oppa - and we have seen the way she brings them all together. Her social skills have made an outcast into a valuable member of the team many a time before, and her compassion and care towards her fellow trainees have not gone
unnoticed. While there are certainly some misbehaviors (and let's be real, which one of us hasn't been a bit of a troublemaker in their
youth?) on her part, she is also very responsible when it comes to the younger trainees. She cares, even if she doesn't always show it. How on
earth can you compare a mischevious night out at the movies to the actual PR disaster that was Re:Vive's scandal!? And to say that they had skills we needed but she doesn't... Again, you don't need to be a good singer to be a good idol. We have Ursa to prove that.
Ursa has Riye and Dalyi.

It also has Suhyun. Don't even get me started on Shion's rapping.
I'm afraid I'll have to take Bitna-sshi's side in this debate. And I will try to keep things short as there are already more notes on
this document than official words. As Lee Riyeon's acting trainer, I must say that, if all else fails, she has some potential at acting, and even more so at modeling. If my other opinion falls on deaf ears, Donghan-sshi, at least remember that. But, as Bitna-sshi has said, there are more aspects to being an idol than simply performance prowess. Lee Riyeon is incredibly comfortable on camera, so much that one would assume she has
years of prior camera experience. She never shies away from it, nor does she experience the stupor most trainees end up in upon being filmed at first. She was, dare I say, born to be captured. It's
not just that she is pretty - we have trainees that exceed her beauty - it's the way she carries herself, presents herself to the world. Her social skills, as previously noted by Bitna-sshi, are
important in this line of work. She is social and easy-going, and that is very important for interviews and variety shows. Idols are,
above all, entertainers, and Lee Riyeon can do just that. Entertain.
She is humorous and playful, and she is not afraid to embarrass herself. A well-placed comment can save an interview from being disastrous, and we know that the trend of funny and relatable girl
groups is on the rise. Lee Riyeon, with her confidence and easy-going nature, might be exactly the addition that the group needs. Donghan-sshi, you mentioned her ability to stand up to you whenever you questioned her? That kind of thick-skinned person is the best fit for an idol life. Criticism and negative comments on the
internet are basically synonyms with being an entertainer in our country, and the stronger the mind of our group members, the better. Not to say that I have a feeling that Lee Riyeon might be her own worst critic, which, despite what you said about her laziness, is the best of all motivators (though I don't disagree with you on that part. She can be quite difficult to work with at times). And who does not have weaknesses? You and I certainly do. Lee Riyeon's strengths outweigh them, at least in my opinion.
We have trainees that exceed her beauty? Are you sure she knows that? With the amount she spends admiring herself in the mirror instead of practicing her dancing, I wouldn't be so sure.
Oh hush Donghan-oppa, stop being petty. Jaeheon-sshi, well said! I agree on all fronts!
Wonderful. Would you mind typing it all out in the appropriate format, Donghan-sshi? I'm afraid I'm too busy with Shin Sarang's evaluation.
You two are the ones who hijacked my doc. I owe you nothing.
Stop being a spoilsport or I'll tell Yang Taehyun on you!
I'd like to see you try.

pre-debut history
Sure, Riyeon had been told that she is pretty plenty of times in her life. She was a pretty kid, with big doe eyes and long hair and pretty lips and cute blushing cheeks, and she grew up to be a pretty teenage girl as well. Her mother's obsession with health and dieting only ensured that her pretty face would be backed up with a beautiful body, and so beauty is what Riyeon knew since she was young. It was only natural that it was easy to rely on her beauty - no one expected Riyeon to do well in school because she was pretty, and so Riyeon didn't try. No one expected Riyeon to go the hard route because she could go the easy route with her looks, and Riyeon, lazy as she is, didn't try to prove them wrong. It was easier, after all, to copy someone's homework than do it herself. She had never been fazed by the negative criticism - they all thought that she won't make a name out of herself, but that was where they were wrong. Riyeon's looks had gotten her that far in life, and she knew that they would get her even further.

In a country where beauty is as much of a currency as anything else, Riyeon knew that there was a path for her. She was pretty, and so a job in the entertainment industry was practically guaranteed for her. Modeling was Riyeon's goal, and with that in mind, her mission had begun. Her parents hadn't minded in the slightest, long-since resiling from the fact that their daughter would ever end up a scholar. At least Riyeon had a goal now, it was better than the lazy girl who didn't know what she wanted to do with her life.

Riyeon knew that her chances at ever making it big are solely dependant on the company that would represent her. Anything other than the big 3 would simply not do. And what company was the specialist when it came to pretty people? SM Entertainment was the obvious choice. And that was how Lee Riyeon, twenty and full of conviction for maybe the first time in her life, got on a bus with her mother and traveled to Seoul for an audition... only to fail it. Something about her visuals not fitting the SM image or some bull like that. But that trip to Seoul turned out just fine when she was approached by a scout from High Rise and was told that she should come and audition for the company. It was no SM, but  Re:Vive' popularity was huge and only kept growing, and Ursa's Suhyun was the epitome of the visuals... Riyeon decided to give it a try, and luckily she was accepted as a trainee.

TRAINEE history
Riyeon originally auditioned for SM with modeling in mind, and for the sudden audition for High Rise she did exactly the same - walk in confidently, smile, strike three poses, and show off her assets. She must've done something right, because that was enough to cast her as a trainee. Though High Rise had something else in mind.

It didn't matter that Riyeon couldn't really sing or dance, it didn't matter that she hadn't even shown her (nonexistent) vocal and dancing skills during her audition. She thought that she had been cast as a modeling trainee. Instead, High Rise started training Riyeon in the performing arts.

The following three and a half years were nothing short of exhausting, but surprisingly Riyeon loved every second of it (well, every second but Donghan-ssaem's classes, ew). It helped that she surrounded herself with a big group of trainees that she absolutely adores (even the tough-love ones, she'll get to you one day!), who have been there during the late hours and the harsh training.

Riyeon has improved her skills exponentially (which isn't very hard when you have zero skill to begin with), but she is still one of the least skilled trainees when it comes to raw vocal, rap, or dance potential. It didn't stop her from growing to love performing, but even more so growing to love the idea behind being an idol. Being an idol never stopped anyone from modelling, after all, and it never stopped anyone from acting. if anything, the idol fame helped score more contracts and deals. Especially if you're from a company like High Rise who has Suhyun in their roster.

idol/trainee life
most of the trainees seem to like Riyeon, unless it's one of the girls who don't take well to open showcases of affection and her dad-like tendencies and slightly weird humor. In general, she has a reputation of a caring, chill unnie, who will comfort to you if you're having a bad day and who will sneak you out to eat mcdonalds because "we all deserve a break in our diets after Donghan-ssaem's beating".

the trainers' opinions are more conflicted. A few can't help but fall for her mischevious charm like Bitna, and a few, like Donghan, think that she shouldn't be a trainee at BigHit at all. Most are inbetween the two groups, with the staff knowing that she is a cause of mischief without much performing skill to back it up, but also know that one can't deny the effect she has on the other trainees, as well as her charisma and variety/acting/modeling potential.

She knows about the sily competition to debut, and while she wants to debut (like, really really, she's super tired of Donghan being on her and her weight being checked every day, her body is HOT), she also can't help rolling her eyes at the blunt manipulation the company is attempting. She's not going to let that destroy the family she's built! No one is developing over-competitiveness on her watch if it means bridges are going to get burned! And, of course, there's the small voice in her head that can't help wonder if it means that her time is up? she's not the best, she knows it, what if - what if she won't make it?
Well, at least she's had fun while it lasted. Shame, she really really loves these kids.

LOOK it's like 3 hours before the deadline I'm sorry I can't add any collabs ;A; but as a rule of thumb Riyeon likes most of the trainees at least to some extent, she's chill and teasing and is their source of pizza and chicken in the toilets, so that should tell you about everything. She thinks they're all one big family so she treats them as such, even those she likes less - they're like the annoying cousins you still kinda like even if you hate them.

relationships
Kim Donghan / trainer/ 42/ vocal trainer at High Rise Entertainment/ -3 /

it all began with one voice crack and a seemingly-innocent comment followed by the most innocent of smiles. Ever since then, Donghan could not stand Riyeon. Riyeon shares his feeling with an equal passion. He thinks she is lazy, irresponsible, and does not deserve to be a trainee at a company such as High Rise. She thinks he is too old-fashioned and too strict and frankly just a piece of . Riyeon tries to tease and mock him at any possible moment, though she is always very sneaky about it. It's always an innocent phrase that has double meaning and leaves him second-guessing and boiling with fury.

Kim Bitna / trainer/ 29/ dance trainer at High Rise Entertainment/ 7/ Bitna is Riyeon's favorite trainer, and with good reason - Bitna always had a soft spot for her and her mischief, and has always been her defender when Donghan complained to Yang Taehyun about her. Riyeon is actually sad that she's bad at dancing, because she would've loved to be good at Bitna-ssaem's classes.

trivia
→ thanks to her mom's strict healthy lifestyle, Riyeon grew up with fitness being practically a necessity. As a result, she is very athletic and physically strong. thx mom!

→ thx to mom also didn't have any junk food until like high school and now ooops she loves it

→ but she's very much not used to junk food, so even though she's always the one who's like "yoo let's sneak out and get some McDonalds" she ends up eating just a bit before feeling full or too greasy. In general, she's so used to eating healthy she rarely gains weight above what's normal for her. Not that it ever stopped High Rise from forcing her to diet, which she absolutely hates.

→ Riyeon always jokes that she's the beer dad who takes her kids to do all the things her wife disapproves of. The kids got drunk and totally ruined their diets? ooooops that might've been Dad Riyeon's fault

→ she's a total lightweight herself, as her mother's healthy lifestyle excludes alcohol. Riyeon only tried alcohol for the first time a year ago, and boy oh boy can she not handle her drink. Expect her to be drunk like 2 shots in.

→ Though Dad Riyeon's not only there to cause havoc. Her dad nickname is there first and foremost because Riyeon likes to take care of the other members: if you need help with something (be it reaching to the shelf your short hands can't, or advice about anything), Riyeon is your girl. The group is sitting down to eat? Riyeon will make sure to serve you food and make sure you're eating. She feels the need to protect and take care of the other members because she's one of the oldest, and just because it's in her nature.

Riyeon wasn't made for competitions, which is a shame since she was made for idoldom. Pretty, funny, with a thick skin to rival an elephant, she knows she's perfect for the spotlight. Unfortunately,High Rise think that the way to said spotlight is through that silly little competition between trainees. Riyeon has worked hard to avoid the minefield of competitiveness among her trainee family, and this might just be the straw that breaks the already delicate camel's back. Not to mention that all this stress and tension makes her wonder whether or not she herself is going to make it - which is not the type of mindset Lee Riyeon, future star of Korea, is supposed to have.
