What's happening in K-pop these days? Well.. this, apparently.

Okay so, this is gonna talk about a lotta . Blackpink and Weki Meki, EXO-L's and ARMY's, stuff that went down on Twitter that I was annoyed at, stuff like that in K-Pop because this is what K-pop has become.

A competition, a race.

There is a lot of opinionated stuff in here that may/may not be agreed with which is fine. Freedom of speech exists, just be wise with how you use it. I'm not trying to insult anyone, if it seems like that - well, I at wording and talking so oops...? Also I'm sarcastic and joke around here and there.

So the last blog post I wrote was in August of 2014 (it's been awhile) and majority were rants and.. guess what this is? Not really a rant but I had to laugh about what the hell I've been seeing because it's really ing funny (like I spent ten minutes laughing at it) so I wanted to share the funniness. This is gon' be long by the way.

Less than two weeks ago a new girl group named "Weki Meki" (yes, I know the name is a bit of a joke but the debut song is actually ing catchy (x)), they debuted on August 8th, 2017. No big deal right?

Wrong, it is a big deal.(Sarcasm intended because it's really not)

So for some reason, some Blinks (Blackpink fans) have been commenting rude on Weki Meki's MV because Blackpink debuted on August 8th, 2016. The same date, a year ago.

This is a comment I found on Weki Meki's mv that had me on the floor ing dying. "I can't endure they copy our debuted date! Why'd you do it? Why did you blame onto blink when Blink didn't do anything wrong?I disliked it 😒" I ING LAUGHED SO HARD GUYS, I CAN'T. SINCE WHEN DID PEOPLE OWN DATES? I'M ING YELLING.

Legit though, majority of comments are either: A) People saying the song and the group name is stupid, B) People claiming to be Blackpink fans saying Weki Meki and copied BP even though Weki Meki did nothing to them, C) Blackpink fans saying they either like/dislike the song and/or the group in a nicer way, OR D) People actually talking about the MV/group in a smart way (pretty sure this is the minority).

Here's some comments I found (they're pretty easy to find) plus my own comments in response because I talk a lot:
> "WTF??? THIS IS CANCER GROUP ! BLACK PINK IS THE BEST"(It's BLACKPINK not BLACK PINK, you hooligan, also BP being the best is an opinion, I love BP but to me, they're not the "best" but damn they gooooood - help me.)
> "ALL BLINK FANDOM IS IMMATURE AND RUDE i think they are more popular because they are from yg"(First of all, not all of us are like that, smart potato. Only rude and immature person I see is yooooou - also she made it seem like she thinks we are more popular because BP is from yg)
>
"I feel like both doyeon and yoojung are disrespecting the members cause they seem like as it they dont react to their other members performance on shows but when they perform they want more attention. I hate that, ioi is over and stop being an attention seeker..."(I hope this person is joking...okay no, we all know they aren't - they don't even choose the lines they sing, whaaaA?)
> "I am a Blink and we Blinks keep getting hate from y'all like there's no tomorrow. I hate how y'all generalize us. It feels like I'm not allowed to be here anymore. We apologized, but I guess y'all don't care. I even saw some Weki Meki fans hate on BP video's, but am I generalizing y'all? no. I was actually really looking forward to this group. I am gonna stop coming to Weki Meki videos. Goodbye"(The fact that someone doesn't feel welcome to a fandom because they stan another group is really sad, why is this what K-pop has become?)
> "
2:48 just like jisoo in boombayah "same thing" I'm not hating JUST SAYING"( what, they have no relations to each other - this is like one of those excuses to bring down Weki Meki, don't start.)
> "To all Blinks saying that Weki Meki is copying BlackPink, y'all realise that BP is a recycled version of 2ne1 👀"( what, BP sounds nothing like 2NE1 in terms of music- the closest was probably AS IF IT'S YOUR LAST. They both have distinct sounds and I mean they DID have the same producer for most of 2NE1 and are both from YG sooooo wha?)

There's a load more comments but imma just move on. There's also people blaming Blinks for the dislike counter and saying that all of us are absolute (not in this way but it's implied) which is false. I'm a BLINK and I surprisingly like Weki Meki (even though I kind of hate the cuter concepts but they did some catchy and I hated I.O.I so I'm just all around shocked that they grew on me so fast). NOT THE POINT, the point is: THIS IS WHAT K-POP IS NOW. PEOPLE FUSSING OVER DEBUT DATES, I'M ING ROLLING ON THE DIRT.

Not even that but my babies Dreamcatcher and Monsta X (coughsgolookatthemifyouhavent) released their MV's on the same day AT THE SAME EXACT TIME, OH MY GOD THEY'RE ING COPYING EACH OTHER DESPITE THE FACT THAT EVERYTHING WAS DIFFERENT!!!! C'mon guys, the ? (No one bashed these guys for this, I'm just using them as an example)

I CAN PROBABLY FIND TEN ING GROUPS THAT DEBUTED ON THE SAME DAY, GUYS THEY'RE ALL COPYING EACH OTHER, THE WORLD IS ENDING (sorry but really). I bet it's because Weki Meki is seen as a threat to BP (from a dumb fan's POV of course) since K-pop is a competition now. It's nothing but that since we got certain groups bragging about their accomplishments or using their award count to counter in an argument against another fandom (I'm not saying but we all know who is who, I mention this again later so chill) even though it's not relevant at all. Whenever a group seems to be a "threat" to another, the fans get DEFENSIVE and insult the group in question even though they didn't do anything wrong to anyone.

I remember in 2013, things were not like this. Yeah, there were fanwars - mostly between Sones and Blackjacks - but it wasn't as ridiculous as this bull. Things go way too far these days and the worst part is, the people saying these things either are A) legit kids who are ing idiots that think they know everything, B) FAKE fans/stans that CLAIM to be apart of a fandom and just on another group to make the whole fandom look bad (People do this a lot to the ARMY fandom on TWT to just on EXO,TWICE,etc., it's RIDIC.)

When I say things go way too far, it's no joke. Like the bull between EXO-L's and ARMY's - remember when we used to get along? Yeah, most don't. Surprisingly, there was a time where BTS and EXO fans got along (some do still, obv, but most are at each other's throats now) and didn't say towards each other.

I used to stan EXO big time, then BTS debuted and they became my number one. EXO's music isn't for me anymore (mainly because I'm still stuck in the past with songs like MAMA and History,,,, sobs.  bringthatconceptbackpleasei'llpayyouSMandloveyouforever(jkicantlovesm)). I don't hate EXO and I never will and I just don't get why others can't like both? For some people, it's one or the other. It's either BTS or EXO. It's either BP or Weki Meki. Why not both? Now, I'm not saying you should like both - personal preference does exist - but why does it have to be an insult fest? They're all people, they have feelings.

Like, honestly, to the people who have done this (and I've seen it myself and it's hurtful to even me and I'm not the one it ing happened to): How would you feel if you saw people saying that they're glad your family member passed away in a rude manner? Laughing about it like it's nothing? I don't know why some people, not just EXO-L's, thought it was okay to make fun of Taehyung for his grandmother passing. It's not okay nor is it funny. He lost a loved one and he was visibly upset by it, that's not something that deserves to be made fun of.

But that doesn't justify what ARMY's do to other fandoms either because I've seen some of the they say and I just stare at it like "I really hope you don't talk to your mom like that". Whether the fan is fake or real, there shouldn't be such hostility. We're taught when we're younger to love and respect everyone, so why are people such monsters? Guess we'll never know why.

I honestly want to sit people down from whatever fandom they come from, ONCE, BLINK, ARMY, EXO-L, whatever it is - and just sit them down and ask "why?" I'm genuinely curious to why people hate on BTS, EXO, WEKI MEKI, BP, whatever group, and the reason. Because I honestly feel like the answers would be stupid.

"I hate their music" - okay, opinion. can't like it all.

"The members are ugly" - no one is ugly, but okay - preference.

"They can't sing" - I'd tell them to unplug their ears, lil too much earwax since exo, bts, weki meki, bp, (with the exception of some people who do need to work on their vocals a bit but they're not awful considering they've debuted and are doing stuff with their lives unlike people who sit and hate on the internet...) can all sing.

"They copied the debut date" - weki meki and bp related, but this is no reason to hate on an innocent group so moving on

"(fandom name) did it first!" - pointing the finger. it doesn't matter who did it first or said the first insult, it's the fact that whoever it is retaliated that matters.

"They don't care about their fans anyways" - who are you to say so? you aren't them, they show that they care (all groups minus the ones that very much don't - ehm, that one guy who I forgot the name of) so moving on.

There's a difference between HATING and not enjoying the music. There's a BIG difference between OPENING YOUR DAMN MOUTH and staying silent when you have something mean to say about a group/person. I bet you if I were to sit some hating EXO-L down or ARMY, or BLINK, they'd say one of these things because that's the usual stupid reasons to hate on someone/a group.

Truthfully, I really don't like Twice because of their concept/music. I hate Twice as a group, I never say anything mean towards them because the girls are PEOPLE, PEEEEEOPLE!!!!! I mean I personally think some of them need to improve their vocals but that's an opinion, it's not hate for thinking so, and I think one girl is prettier than all of them since the rest are okay to me (though, I really don't like talking about them so I avoid it). Not only that but I heard they're very good to their fans which is enough for them to not be hated as people since they're, ya'know, good people - KIND (that thing we're kinda missing in majority of K-pop). You can say you hate a group because of their music, but don't start hating on the people in the group for no reason. Even with a "reason", don't do it.

They're just a band, there's no reason to start death threatening people who show that they dislike a group (some fans are defensive man, it scares me to even say I don't like Twice). They're NO reason to say someone is "deaf" for not liking a song or something. Weki Meki's song is a DEBUT song and has A LOT of room for improvement. I even admit it's not the best song but it's fun and singing along to it is fun.

Moving on. I feel like the truthful answer to "why do you hate them?" would be: "They're a threat to my band." Not threat as in violent/dangerous, as in a threat to their success which is beyond ridiculous. No one is a threat to any one. EXO is not a threat to BTS, BTS is not a threat to EXO. Blackpink is not a threat to Weki Meki, Weki Meki is not a threat to Blackpink. They're all people doing what they LOVE. Nothing would feel worse than being on because you're doing something you're PASSIONATE about.

A good example of this is something that happened years ago. I was an EXO stan big time, as I said, before BTS came in. So, Crayon Pop won an award against EXO and so many EXO fans were INSULTING THEM. Saying their song was , they weren't even good, they were useless against EXO, no one knew who they were, etc. Crayon Pop was a threat to EXO since they won an award against them out of the blue and, at the time, people got defensive. They insulted Crayon Pop for no reason other than "they're a threat to EXO." Even I was confused to how a song like that won against EXO but I actually took some time to listen and Crayon Pop easily became one of my favorite girl groups (not anymore because they're... pretty much gone, RIP Crayon Pop, you deserved better).

That's because we're put into tough decisions and is the reason I DON'T VOTE FOR ANYONE ON ANY AWARD SHOW. It's a competition now and that's not why I joined the K-pop fandom back in 2012. I joined for the music, the fact that there IS a community of people who love the same type of music as myself, but this? This makes me want to back the out. On twitter, I couldn't believe what I was seeing with some ARMY's.

This part gets a little harsh by the way since I'm releasing weeks of frustrations, this is about ARMY's who were getting on my nerves so skip or read this section, it's okay.

ARMY's were getting HOSTILE at fans who weren't voting on uh... Soribada (, did I spell this right?) I saw so many posts saying that people who don't vote aren't real fans. Like excuse me, but I haven't spent over 4 ING THOUSAND DOLLARS ON BTS TO BE TOLD BY SOMEONE WHO PROBABLY WASN'T EVEN AROUND SINCE DEBUT THAT I'M NOT A REAL FAN. (I'm not exaggerating, I've spent around that much, don't judge me...). I've been with BTS since debut and seeing ARMY's say like that made me ing annoyed. I was going to rant but I decided not to so I am doing it now.

Most ARMY's are ing children, people under 18. People who don't have jobs, who don't juggle work and school - who don't have bills to pay and are on summer vacation (some may have started school as well). ARMY's like myself are adults. I'm in college and I am applying for a full time job soon. I'm sorry but I don't have ing time to vote ALL ING DAY FOR SOME GODDAMN AWARD and even if I did, I wouldn't. I have things to do. I'm happy for BTS honestly, their success from day one to now is bizzare and I'm just so holy at it. They produce great damn music with even better meanings. They helped me through HS with No More Dream and N.O., they helped me when I felt suicidal because I couldn't take it. It's like watching a pet go from a kitten to an annoying, cute, little bugger (my cat is so clingy, help).

Now not all ARMY's who are below the age of 18 are like this. I've seen ARMY's who are ing 12-14 act more mature than the older ARMY fans. That's sad. And the fact that a lot of older ARMY's are saying that the younger ones see us as a threat because we're closer to BTS in age is so funny to me. Like guys, ya'll don't even speak KOREAN and we a threat because your illegal delu-lu? (I just laughed so hard at myself, I'm gonna exit)

I help by streaming when available, buying their albums, summer packages, NOW1,3 (2 is too much money), memories of ___ DVDs, and so on. I have so much BTS clothes, merch, and whatnot that I need to probably start controlling myself (I won't). I hope that people who saw "ARMY's" saying that they can't be considered a real army if they don't SELL THEIR SOUL TO THE DEVIL AND VOTE ALL DAY EVERY DAY didn't feel bad about themselves. Not everyone can do it and it doesn't make someone less of a fan for not voting. I'm not saying that because I don't vote, I'm saying it because it's a ing fact.

Treating fellow fans as if they mean nothing because they don't vote is ing low as . It's completely died down on twitter, as I said this happened weeks ago, and I'm glad I'm not seeing that bull anymore. If you like BTS, listen to their music, you're a fan. Regardless if you buy their albums, vote constantly or not, it doesn't matter. You're a fan of BTS, or any group, if you like them, support them, and stay by them even through the rough .

Don't know why some people find this concept so hard to accept? It's NOT all about winning.

Winning is a good feeling, but if we lose - there's no problems about it. There are many other awards to come and achievements to have.

It's not about winning. I'm repeating this. NOT. ABOUT. WINNING. BTS can't win everything, EXO may not be able to win everything. It's OKAY. Why? Because both groups are SUCCESSFUL and HAPPY in the positions they are in as far as we know. They're doing what they LOVE. Isn't that enough?

Why do fans have to go at eachother's ing throats to make a ing point? Why do people have to use a band's accomplishments or awards/daesangs against another to try and tily prove a point? It just makes stuff worse.

You don't like BTS? Okay, leave, don't go on their articles saying (I'm looking at you fake  stans (to whatever group they like) that do this a lot (seriously, every soompi/allkpop/koreaboo article, there's one stan who says some BS about it saying that BTS are flops. Then there's the fake ARMY's doing it back like boy no, stop it right now.) You don't like EXO? Don't start under their articles. You don't wanna hear about Weki Meki? Too bad, you can not like them but there are people who do. Don't like BLACKPINK? DON'T INSULT THEM WHEN YOU PROBABLY CAN'T DO HALF THE  THESE IDOLS DO.

I'm just one person so I can't stop the dumb hate that goes on in this community but I wish I could. Because there are so many talented groups/people that get on for no reason. BTS are the nicest people you're going to meet but people want to drag them down. Why? Because they're a threat to your group? Lol, get the out.

People want to drag EXO, also a nice group, for what? Because they're a threat? Geeeet yo OUT of here.

Insulting Weki Meki? FOR WHAT? THE SAME DEBUT DAY AS BLACKPINK OR A NOT SO GOOD DEBUT SONG? GET YOUR ASSSSSSS out of here. LOOK AT BLOCK B, THEIR DEBUT WAS SOMETHING WE DON'T TALK ABOUT NOW (the hair oh god the HAIR) BUT THEY IMPROVED.

If you don't like a group, it's okay to say so but in a NICE way. I don't like Twice nor do I like SVT. Is that a crime? No, I just don't like their music. Has nothing to do with the people in it. That's not what I judge when I listen to a group considering I don't even know the people in the group UNTIL I listen to them or actually look at them. Its about the music, the sound, the concept. If it's a boring concept, generic cute concept, or the song sounds bad or.. just not well done, I probably won't like it (always exceptions though). Not a crime.

What is a crime is purposefully making fun, bashing, or trying to push these idols into a pit of anguish. They have feelings and it is possible for idols to have depression. Not all idols have thick skin, they cry - they FEEL, so why do you feel so ing happy making someone feel bad? I don't get it (and to the people who are neutral or are nice to any band, bless your damn soul, if you have something bad to say, just keep it to yourself).

People like BTS, people dislike BTS. People like EXO, people dislike EXO. People don't like Weki Meki, some don't like Blackpink. It's a matter of opinion and taste.

There's no excuse for hating on any group because of what they do. What has BTS/EXO/BP/WM done to you? Nothing. Oh wait, "they exist", honestly if you hate their existence then wow, your life must be so damn hard. They exist and aren't doing anything to you. So so hard. They make music for their fans and it effects you so much even though they don't even know you exist and you've never met them. SO HARD, SO DIFFICULT TO GO ON (overdramatic but my point stands).

Also why do people who hate a band spend so much time talking about/ting on them? Like if you don't like them, shouldn't you not acknowledge them? Don't see how spending hours just to spread hate comments about them is a good use of time.

It feels nice to rant.

vecember is out.

Agree. THIS. PREACH IT.

I legitimately don't keep up with ANY group anymore because SOME PEOPLE JUST LIKE TO ON OTHER'S PARADES. Like, do y'all have anything better to ing do besides stare at a goddamn computer all day?

Straight up I've only voted for something once and that was that. Too much time and effort for me, an adult, to put forth. I gotta work and make money to pay bills. I do not have time to sit and wait for something I honestly don't care about. If someone wants to say I'm not a "true fan," well, they can come catch these hands.

Some people don't understand the concept of "you don't need to know everything about a band to be a fan." BTS, for example. I like their music and I know the members' names. Do I know their birthdays? Nope. Do I know their hometown? Blood type? Nope and nope.

I don't like Twice but I don't go out of my way to on their videos lmao. If you don't like something, don't ing listen to it. Simple concept, y'all.

People just annoy me. Sigh.

Everyone needs to chill tf out. We're not here for a long time; we're here for a good time.

I AGREE WITH WHATEVER YOU SAY(everything in caps cause I really do agree)

We don't even need to to talk about hate and all the ting on their videos... Like I have a friend(had a friend) we were pretty close so long as I praised V and talked about bangtan merch then NCT debuted and I joked about shifting my interest from V to Taeyong and then sayonara our false friendship(she was the only kpop fan in class too lol) I mean yeah V is handsome and all Taeyong is handsome too (in fact they both have the potential to make my heart stop) she was a hardcore army I Stan other bands apart from bts I don't know why people do it. I mean Bts has bad songs so do Nct just not her cup of tea.. Haha now I'm ranting over something that happened ages ago.

Unfortunately competition is inevitable given the system makes it that way with charts, award shows and whatnot. But it can definitely get unhealthy and erupt into what looks like never-ending fan wars (which I frankly have no desire to even observe lol, I just don't have the energy).

Lmao I agree with everything you say (especially the Block B debut, I can't)
Tbh, I was around for a small moment in the ARMY fandom, where they just released Dope and everything is just so peaceful
Now? I don't even know what happened because honestly there are too many stupid people around
I don't like Twice also, but the idols and the songs/concepts are different matters. You can hate the company all you want but leave the passionate people, aka idols out of this (unless it's the idol's personal fault; then hate all you like)
Honestly I wish the fans, especially ARMYs can ing grow up because some people just follow with the trend and say about other people
Just...grow up

i have to agree with most of the blackpink/weme part! otherwise, the second part is, to me, completely wrong. big groups, espcially boygroups, need fanwars. it's even a marketing tool used by entertainment companies (all around the world). like, they're genuinely necessary. and it's even more mandatory to groups like b/ts and got7, because their fan base are rooted internationally, and thus their durability is a fragile thing—that's why fanwars are pretty much a ‘survival’ technique to the groups, and they mostly rely on it.

but yeah, overall, fanwars are needed, as long as they aren't directly shoved down the idol's throat (ex, that variety show where that teen actress directly told exo that she thinks bt/s are 'better', or that tiffany fanmeet where this fan told her she thought cl was 'better' and left after it).

p.s idk when you got into kpop, but that's the way it's always been and also, truthfully, deep down, it's what makes it so fun & alive.
