Princess Rapunzel ♔ Cha Sora ♔ Echo

 Echo

Birthname. Cha Sora
Nicknames.

Sky :: "Sora" means "sky" in Japanese so Sora treats this as her English name.

Ghost :: A lot of the time, people forget or don't even notice Sora is in the room, only to have the life scared out of them when she speaks up - as such, a lot of trainees have nicknamed her "ghost" or "spirit" because she seems to just appear out of no where.

Hara :: A combination of her last name and first name (CHA SoRA), this was originally going to be her stage name (that the company suggested) but Sora changed it because she felt like it didn't fit her. Some fans that knew of her pre-debut still call her this though.

Echo :: The stage name she chose for herself because she wants her legacy to remain even after she's gone (much like how an echo continues even after the original sound disappears).

Date of Birth. January 2, 1997 (20)
Birthplace. Jeju, South Korea
Ethnicity. Korean
Language(s) Spoken.

Korean :: Her first language, Sora speaks Korean as basically her only language. She really enjoys making puns or little word plays, but Sora actually hates reading and literature in general - so it's a bit of a paradox.

English :: Sora's alright at English. She can introduce herself and hold a simple conversation, but she reuses the same simple sentence structures and her grammar isn't the best. Sora's pronounciation is pretty good though, and so she's good at singing English covers if she ever needs to.

Faceclaim. Oh My Girl's Binnie
Backup. Oh My Girl's JinE

Appearance. Sora is short, much shorter than most girls her age. At 155 cm and 40 kg, Sora's pretty small. I mean, she's not a midget or anything, but she's definitely probably the shortest member or trainee there is. It bothers her too, because it's not like she's that perfect tiny doll. Her proportions are all over the place, with a too long torso and short, stubby legs - Sora's body doesn't really fit with most clothes. Stylists try to put her in oversized sweaters - only to have that accentuate her thicker thighs. Then they try to make her legs look longer - but end up awkwardly blocking out her body.

It's not Sora's body is undesireable however, it's just not fit to standards. While she's skinnier than most (due to idol dieting), her fat just shows up in the most obvious places, aka her thighs and underarms. No matter how much she exercises or diets, it always remains. So no, Sora isn't very proud of her body.

One saving grace however, is Sora's face. While her body might be out of idol norm, her face makes up for it. With small, delicate features and a light, pale skin tone, Sora's visage is definitely one of her best points. She likes to keep her hair short as well, to frame and make her face even smaller, and even the stylists have to agree that she works bangs quite well.

Style. Sora's very much into the cutesy, girly kind of fashion - anything that makes her legs look longer and skinnier basically. Shorts with tights underneath, skirts and high waisted pants, short or cropped jackets and sweaters, tucking in her shirt - if it makes her torso seem smaller than Sora's probably got t in her closet. In addition to this, her style is just more feminine. Bows are her favourite, and they can often be found detailing many of the clothes (tops and bottoms) that she buys. Sora's also a fan of lace, and absolutely loves anything trimmed or overlayed with it.

She doesn't often wear accessories however, seeing as she's allergic to iron and nickel (so she can only wear silver and gold - and she just doesn't have the time to check if the jewellery she buys is authentic or not), and likes to keep the area around her head simple. This means barely any hair accessories or hats. She doesn't even style her hair much (not like there's too much to do with it). She curls her bangs, brushes her hair, and that's about it. Sometimes the stylist curls it slightly or pins it back with some pins, but Sora's quite simplistic in that manner.

   About me

Personality Traits.
+ quiet, introverted, observant, quirky, kind
– uncaring, judgemental, stoic, emotionally constipated

Personality.

Sora is very quiet. She's not often noticed, and has been told many times before that she lacks prescence - not to mention charisma. On multiple occassions, she's been marked absent or thought to have skipped out on lessons by coaches because the other trainees and teachers alike don't notice her while doing attendance and such - and Sora, being the introverted person she is, often doesn't notice or care. Sora's not entirely sure why she lacks presence, but it's happened to her ever since she was a kid. There were instances in school (and even in the practice room), where people have thrown their bags on her or placed their stuff on top of the desk she's sitting at, only to scream in shock when she finally speaks up. It wasn't like she was forgotten, in fact, her mom says it's because her presence is just comforting. Even when you just meet her, apparently people feel so comfortable with Sora that they forget she's there - as if she's just another part of the enviroment. As such, Sora will often be overlooked. In fact, she's had quite some memorable stories about asking her friend's parents to drive her home - only for them to arrive back at their house, compeltely forgetting that she had been in the car.

As such, Sora tends to be quite observant. While she isn't actively participating in the conversation, she's definitely listening in and watching everyone's movements. Sora likes to psychoanalyze people - a habit she picked up from her brother - and notices the different quirks and reactionary body movements people make. Also because of her brother, Sora is philosophical to the max. She's always thinking, daydreaming as others would call it, but she's definitely not down on earth. Her head is in the clouds, off thinking about various theories and concepts she had stayed up researching last night (Sora loves to learn, so much so that she's rather research things than sleep). Because of this insightfulness however, Sora is often percieved as weird. She's quirky, her thought process is odd, and everyone she's met only remembers her as, "the kid with the interestingly weird ideas". She's unconventional, always thinking of more efficient ways of doing things, and doesn't let social norms stop her from doing what she wants. Too bad she never speaks up though.

You see, Sora is kind to a fault. She doesn't like to impose her own ideas on others, so she won't share them. She'll sit in a room, watching over fret about a problem, and already have the answer in her mind. However, as long as they don't ask her, she's won't speak up. She has a feeling that her advice won't be heeded, and that if she does say something, they'll just think she's being pretentious or something. Better to stay silent than to be wrongly acccused is the philosophy she lives by, so Sora stays a silent observer until someone asks for her opinion, which, considering people don't even realize she's in the room half the time, isn't very often. However, while her kindness can be seen as weak, it's also one of her good points. She was taught to never take things out on other people and to make sure to at least tolerate those around her. While she doesn't always agree with everyone's motives, Sora tries her best to understand them. Even if she doesn't like you, she'll often try to be the bigger person and treat you with basic human dignity. In this way, Sora was taught to care for others - even if you don't particularly like them - because you'll never know if it'll turn around and bite you in the . After all, you don't really know what's happening to people behind the scenes.

In the end though, this is one of the main reasons why she hasn't debuted or gotten much exposure. She's not a competitive person at all, and seeing how she won't actively share her thoughts and ideas, it's not hard to see that Sora isn't going to show off just to get onto the lineup or grab that music video cameo. Sora strongly believes in fate after all, she thinks that she shouldn't have to show all her cards right away. When the chance comes, if it's really meant to be, Sora will be dragged along. Combine this with the fact that she's barely noticed and definitely won't be considered because of her presence and you've got a hidden gem - the most extreme sense.

Moving back to her observant nature, Sora ends up being quite judgemental even if she tries not to be. She notices everything and everyone, so ultimately, people that act fake or put up a front are immediately criticized in her eyes. She hates liars as well, and seeing as she can spot one from a mile away, Sora isn't the friendliest person on the planet - especially when she knows pretty much everything that makes you work. While she won't treat you like because of it, you definitely can't expect Sora to like or think very highly of you.

Sora can also be seen as stiff. She doesn't really deal with her emotions well and since she doesn't really have an outlet to release them or a confident to talk to, she ends up leaving them stewing. In addition, because she's always taught not to take things out on people (combined with her philosophy of staying silent unless asked), Sora's like a rapidly filling capped bottle. She wasn't shown much affection as a kid, because she wasn't noticed a lot, and isn't used to dealing with attention either. She's not entirely sure how this will affect her if she ever becomes an idol, but like before, she believes that if fate allows it, things will fall into place. Most people think Sora is robotic in that aspect, she's reserved in her dealings with other people and is never really seen grinning or laughing (if anything, just a polite, small smile), but that's only because she's not used to it. After joining the show and meeting the other trainees though, Sora is going to have to learn to deal with her emotions and to relax more. She's an idol after all, and she's going to have to learn to make others feel happy (and notice her in general) - even if she's not entirely sure how she's feeling.

Background.

Sora was the third child to her parents, Cha Minseok and Jinsol. Her oldest sister, Arin, and her older brother, Myunghwan, outshone Sora in every way. Arin was always the best at socializing. Smiling and preening under the compliments of Minseok and Jinsol's friends, She was voted class president with barely any competition, and is expected to go off to become a politician or human rights activist of some sort. Myunghwan was always an excellent student. He was studious, worked hard, and just had that natural intelligence others would die for. Currently, he's studying psychology in university and is thinking about going into researching. As such, because of her wonderful siblings, Sora was often overlooked, stuck in the shadows. She never really minded, Sora never liked talking to people anyways, and was always happy whenever Arin came by and stole the attention away. Instead, Sora stayed with Myunghwan and talked to each other softly. She would wait patiently when someone came by to talk to him and then resume the conversation right where they had left off.

At school, Sora was a pretty regular student. She was (although Arin hates to admit this) not as smart as Myunghwan but more so than Arin. She ranked pretty high in school, within the top fifty, but never high enough to garner much praise or attention. In addition, Sora didn't really do much. She wasn't a part of any sports teams of clubs, and would often come straight home after school. While Jinsol originally thought it was because Sora was being bullied, it wasn't really that at all. Sora wasn't being bullied, it was more like no one noticed her. Sure, people knew she was in the class and talked to her, but they overlooked her more often than not. She's not invisible, but she's definitely that kid in class where you go, "They were in our class all this time? I didn't even notice!" As such, Sora was constantly pushed into the shadows, and she was content with that.

That is, until she was forced by her guidance counsellor to join a club. Her counsellor thought she wasn't being involved enough, and told her to join a club by the end of the month. As such, Sora chose at random and ended up being a part of the music club. Here, she began to learn to sing. She wasn't the best (Sora's voice isn't the strongest - much like her presence) but there was something so soothing about her voice that actually made people listen to her. For once, Sora was being seen. Her voice flowed like honey, and it attracted fans from all around. Though Sora was still passed over by most, there was a new label to her - the one who sings well.

And Sora liked that title. She genuinely enjoyed singing, it was one of the only ways she could get her feelings out she felt, and it was something she was actually good at. She got noticed before it - though she wasn't the best singer in the school - and well, if she had to do something for the rest of her life, might as well do something she enjoyed. Honestly though, Sora only decided to become an idol because of something her dad said. He had mentioned, over dinner, that "We've got a smartie and a talkie in the house. What else would we need?"  It got Sora thinking. Arin was going into public service in a sense, and Myunghwan had the school thing covered, so where could Sora go? In the end, she decided that no one in her family would be going into music, and so what better way to round the family off than to  become an idol?

Sora had no intentions of telling her family her plan until later, but fate ended up making the decision for her. Sora was told by the leader of the music club that she'd be partcipating in their school's vocal performance for the Spring Festival. At the event, various groups from schools around Jeju would compete - in both sports and the arts. As such, Sora was placed in a group with others and performed. In Sora's opinion, the performance wasn't the best. It was a typical slow song that apparently would show off their vocals, but they didn't place very high. I mean, they weren't the lowest, but they didn't get in the top 3 either. After the compeition however, Sora was approached by a scout. He told her that he really liked her vocal tone, and though she had a certain flavour to her singing that they could cultivate. A bit confused by his words since Sora was always told there was nothing unique or intriguing about her, Sora accepted his offer right away and was told to pack her bags for Seoul.

Obviously, Jinsol and Minseok didn't take the news lightly. They didn't really like the idea of Sora going off to become an idol, but Jinsol ended up convincing them. Jinsol's intentions weren't exactly the purest (she always had some weird rivalry with Sora), but it worked. She had basically told them that, "Well, let her do what she wants. Myunghwan and I will make plenty of money anyways, so we'll cover for her failure." A back-handed comment for sure, but it worked and so Sora flew off to Seoul and entered Starship.

   Interview

How do you feel about being chosen to represent your label on Princess?
Oh, it's very interesting... I think it's going to be a great learning experience. I'm looking forwards to a lot of things and I hope I'll be able to fully showcase myself and my talents as well as make good memories.

Do you think you can win against the other girls?
Who knows honestly... *she pauses, thinking for a bit* That sounds odd, but it's true. No one will be able to conclude the results until the end. Until then, I'll try my best and I genuinely hope they will as well. Whatever else happens, happens.

What do you think your charm point is?
I'm told I'm quite comfortable. *her polite smile wavers slightly at this* A lot of people tell me that I'm kind as well, so I hope the viewers will see me as a childhood friend more than an idol through the screen.

Any weaknesses you're worried about?
Oh, I think... I'm easily passed over. I mean, there are a lot of girls so I'm a bit worried about that... I don't want to take away from their screentime or what not, but I do hope I'll be able to interact with fans too... you know?

Do you have any final words for the viewers?
Uh, well... *she clears , fixing her shirt slightly as she looks into the camera and musters the most charming smile she can find* I'll be doing my best, I hope you will all look upon my kindly!

Trainee Years. 2 years
Trainee Life.

Sora has never been the brightest star in the sky, and it showed here too. While the scout had said they would find Sora's individual colour, it didn't end up working. Or well, Sora felt like they didn't even try after a while. She was placed in vocal and dance classes along with the other trainees, but just like everything, Sora did decently. She wasn't bad enough to be called out, but she wasn't exceptionally good enough to be complimented. She was just kind of dragged along, following the gist of things and just kind of wondering where she would end up.

However, they did try to help her. The scout was right - apparently - in that there was potential in her. But that didn't mean she was exactly what they wanted. She wasn't unique at first glance, and she didn't hold the camera's attention for long. Nevertheless, the company believed that something good would come out of her, so they kept training her. She was particularly whipped into shape in terms of vocals. While Sora had good enough singing talent, she knew next to no technique. As such, she had to go through gruelling hours of theory and skill training - but she took it all with stride. After all, she likes singing, and with likes comes learning. Sora is the kind of person to go off and research things they find interesting, so her dedication to learning how to sing better helped her immensely.

Sora's training continued, and nothing big really happened until WJSN came along. Though the talks of having a new girl group had been circulating when Sora first arrived, she never gave it too much thought as there were always rumours flying around. Soon though, Sora heard of other girls getting called to be placed onto the lineup. Sora herself never really considered being a part of the new group, feeling as if she wasn't ready enough, but she still secretly hoped that she'd get in. Regardless, Sora tried to keep her hopes low, and it proved correct - though it wasn't her talent that stopped her from getting in. While no one explictly told her the reason why she wasn't put on, she overheard a couple of staffs (thanks to her lack of presence, they hadn't noticed her in the washroom) talking about her. Apparently, Sora had been considered because her vocals could possibly work along with the rest of the girls, but the thing was that her personality didn't fit. In a huge group of thirteen other girls, Sora's presence and character would no doubt be ignored, so they passed over her in lieu of maybe putting her into a smaller group in the future.

And so Sora waits. She works on her voice, hoping to gain her own flavour and image. WJSN went on and debuted, and though Sora wished she could've been a part of it, she doesnt' mind too much. She did feel a bit salty when Yeonjung was added in, especially because Sora hadn't been given the chance to participate in Produce 101 (once again, there were too many contestants so Starship forbid her from going), but she just took it in stride. After all, she never really expected much.

Finally, after a couple of missed chances, Starship decided to put her into Princess. Imagine the shock that coursed through her body when she was told of the decision. She hadn't, not even once, thought that she would be a part of anything really. She had heard of the program, but assumed that Starship wouldn't let her even apply again because there were, just like in WJSN, too many other girls that would overshine Sora. In the end though, the management decided that this was a good a time as any to try and get Sora some experience in improving her charisma and finding her individuality. After all, it could work and Sora would become the next Yeonjung, or it could fail and nothing would be lost. Well, actually, if it did fail and Sora ended up not developing her own character, there was a slight (read: high) chance of Starship dropping her from the trainee program, but Sora doesn't know that. At least, not yet.

Last Words.  Inspired partly by me, who isn't good enough at anything to be recognized but isn't particularly terrible enough to be noticed. I feel like I have my own individual colour though, which is where things begin to differ aha.

I finished this in like two hours I need to sleep-

Scenes Requests.

– Sora finally finding her own individual colour or character that makes her stand out (or not, up to you really - the character development can go either way xD)
– nobody ever notices Sora is gone... so she sneaks away from the group a lot and does her own thing
– they start dance practice or filming without her and don't notice until they do some kind of role call (I'm thinking like the have assigned numbers per age order and when they wait for her number they're just, " we forgot Sora again")
– Sora ends up actually being anemic (everyone thinks she just has low stamina) and suffers from health problems (maybe prevents her from joining a comeback or activities?)

Password.  Everyone likes a good underdog story... Maybe it'll turn out like PD101 Sohye where she gets a bunch of haters but majority love her. I feel like she's going to get a lot of hate - though if she breaks through those odds it's going to be pretty epic.
