How do you know you're suffering from depression?

I don't know if anyone will read this but I think I am depressed.

I can't talk about this with my family because they'll think I'm looking for attention so I'm asking people outside my 3D world.

To tell you guys the truth, I'm in my mid-twenties and I'm running away from making my thesis. I'm afraid for some reason.

I always never want to leave the house and I sleep a lot. I don't feel very happy.

Any help you can give me is a great thing.

thoughts anyone?

(only self-diagnosed) but yeah.. been there several times and im still in my long long journey of self-healing. depression drains out all of our energy. couple it with anxiety attacks and you're gonna start hating yourself. to start off, all of it starts with yourself (or at least that's how i "theorized"-ish it). it could be your pent up frustrations that you never got any outlet, self-consiousness.. what I started doing, still doing, is to find an outlet, (notebook to write on like a diary, go somewhere high and scream out all those emotion.. etc.) then find time (even just for an hour or so) to di something you really enjoy. there's still a lot of things that i did but I hope that having an outlet could start your healing journey and may you have more better days. ❤️

I think you should seek help from the therapist or psychologist . You should relax and try to destress. Listen to some soft music , do some exercise and read some self help and motivational books . I heard that eating bananas are good to like boost your mood . Try to find a hobby or do something that you like to stimulate your interest . I heard that staying outdoor or going out can reduce your chances of having depression. So try to go out even just for a walk at the park .. Listen to the birds , and try be close to nature for healing. Also I read that the smell of rain can reduce your stress level . Most of all you need to think positive . I hope things get better for you.Stay strong

Well, depression can shift from person to person, but overall... Depression is this horrible feeling of hopelessness. It's like always being lost in your own body. There's nothing to love, nothing to do, nothing to enjoy; sure, you have times when you're happy and having fun, but then the sun goes down and you remember how worthless it is to feel that way. It's like a crippling lack of motivation to do anything. You'll lose interest in things you once loves, you'll gain or lose a lot of weight from either binge-eating or over-sleeping to the point that you don't eat. Self-harm and suicidal thoughts are common for people with depression. If you think you're depressed, don't worry about your parents. Seek out a professional for help before it escalates too far. xxx <3

I've been there! I would say something more in-depth but I'm busy rn.
But I'll let you know that when I wrote my thesis (a year ago when I was 23) I was running away as well. So as a starting point, I know exactly how it is to run away from a thesis.
If you want to talk more in-depth, send me a pm. ^^<3

tbh I'm not an expert, I don't study psychology, I don't have friends who suffers from depression.. So..

But myself I don't like to leave my house, and I sleep a lot too on my days off.
Sometimes i feel tired of life and living all together.
^ is that how you feel? Idk, my belief is everyone suffers from depression, only how deep it is.

On a scale from 1 - 10, how depressed do you feel?
