Help? Just a little Question. ( ・◇・)?

Okay, so, since a while I've been wondering about something.

What is it that you want to see in/of a trailer?

What exactly do you - as the requester - expect from it?

(obviously talking about aff trailers here... but general opinions would be interesting as well :)

It'd be lovely if I'd get some opinions about that since I'm really not sure what people actually expect from trailers in general?

I'm pretty sure some don't even give me their honest opinion on their trailers, and that's partly why I'm asking here.

Other than that, if you're interested in giving me actual feedback (I'd srsly appreciate it!) then check out my portfolio and leave me a comment!<3

Thanks a lot in advance and I hope there'll be some responses! :D

First of all, I think it's the requester duty to specify all the essential things needed for the trailer. I mean, you make the trailer but you make it based on the material the requester gives you, right ? In terms of characters' physical appareance, the story plot, the feeling that comes out by reading the story. They can't expect you to read all the stories you make the trailers for or to understand what they want out of nothing, right ? <3
But at the same time, talking for myself as I requested the trailer for my story... i think it's all about the feeling and to understand ' who plays the role of who ' in the story. I mean people who watch the trailer have to get all the principal things of it. If the trailer is confusional, people will be confused too and then not interested in searching for the story. That's exactly what a writer does not want.
It's great to see your own stories been ' brought to reality ', but as I said before the requester has to do the main part of the work.

As someone who doesn't publish my own stories, my opinion is solely as a reader who likes all little bits of added details to stories. I looked through your whole portfolio, and honestly your work is very beautiful. You are great with keeping the feel of them very cohesive, the clips, transitions, fonts, music, colors...everything fits really well together! One thing you might be able to work on a bit is finding a nice way to keep the text on the screen longer. There were some parts where the text was gone before I even had a chance to register text had actually been there! I also went away from the trailers not really knowing anything about what the stories were about? That could be because of the first problem with the text disappearing so quickly though. You're amazing at what you do, I'm sure the authors love the work you do to help bring their stories to life!

Hmm.. I personally think it should be most about the feel of the story and how the writer wants the characters to be portrayed. Never had a trailer made for me, but personally that's what I would expect from the finished product ^^

What I'd like to see in a trailer...hmm...I don't know how to explain it but I guess if it gives you the 'right' feeling. I wouldn't mind if there was little text tbh. I would like to see more of the image but I think text also brings out a big part and honestly, I don't see how you could improve your trailers. They're already amazing! I hope this feedback was helpful <3

Just ... the feeling of the story. I requested for two trailers and I think they portrayed the stories very well! I'm very happy with them. I did try to play around with it but I'm usually really vague because I don't want too much text so I don't necessarily think my trailer requests are easy to make. ^^
That said I really don't expect too much. A well-made movie that brings forth more feeling than storyline, if that makes sense? Because the foreword usually describes the storyline in some way, I don't think the trailer needs to do that - not too much at least. And ... less text. Some text is okay, it depends a little on the story tbh. But - more feeling than story. ^_^
I admire people who make trailers though. While I have fun doing it, I'm not a trailer-maker and I respect you guys! ^^
