and this is why I think Kdramas

a lot of people criticized the flashy outfits and shin hye's nails art in the Drama 'Doctors'

and I'm just sitting here, staring at the news like..You guys just realized that now? lol

Isn't that in all the freaking Kdramas now?

K-directors and script writers need to step up their game and realize that it's not just about the freaking romance and looking good, It's all about a close-to-reality representation of the character you're embracing.

But no, the whole focus is on the romance and its development

**Playing a poor ugly girl? let's cast the most beautiful actress, dress her nicely and give her manicure and pedicure care and the latest Samsung phone

**Playing a snob CEO of a major company? oh yes, please, take ALL YOUR TIME to worry about your love problems, the company is doing JUST GREAT without your care

you get the picture

I tried my luck with Descendants of the sun a month ago cuz my cousins kept pestering me about it aaaand,as I predicted, I didn't like it. I forced myself to go past the 1st episode and eventually, I stopped around the 4th episode cuz everything pissed me off, from the unprofessionalism of the doctors to the false representation of soldiers in the army.

I sound like I'm exaggerating but I'm not. These are like rookie mistakes in the film world.

Kdramas got amazing plots, and amazing actors, but they always ruin it with a far fetched representation of the supposed character

Of course,if you watch for the romance, you wouldn't care, but I seek professionalism when it comes to art.

Now that I let that out, does anyone have an actually good kdrama to recommend?

I agree with the fact that they're not very realistic in some ways and they tend to glamorize life and there's a load of romance but isn't that the point (btw if I sound like I'm being offensive at any point I'm sorry, just expressing my thoughts)? People watch kdramas (and tv in general) to escape reality, not get an extra dose of it and then get stressed out by the problems that the characters have which are so similar to their own. Plus, there are so so many dramas with amazing plots, but something that was amazing to me might not be so great for you. I loved DOTS because of the writing, the cinematography, the chemistry between the actors, and the fact that they used realistic situations that aren't so common so it seems more out of the world which attracts viewers. Also, you mentioned that dramas should focus on the close to reality representation, but how does that work when so many dramas are fantasy based? There's W, Ice Fantasy (Chinese), and Let's Fight Ghost to name a few going on right now. W and Let's Fight Ghost (just because I'm watching the two) have the humor, the romance, the cinematography and the chemistry that people enjoy. Plus, they do have moments where they realistically describe the character where the audience can connect to the characters and think "wow, that would be me if I was in his/her position".

I'm just not very fond of k dramas tbh
They're kinda cheesy and unrealistic. The plots are always the same thing. Emotions aren't portrayed well either
I prefer English or Spanish dramas. Sometimes even Chinese dramas but not k dramas

I agree! And no, I sadly don't, because although I may fall in love with a drama the romance always takes over at one point and the female lead becomes useless without the male lead and the male lead becomes this softie for the female lead and it's all been seen before and it's boring af. I hope you find something worth watching tho.
