TRV : THE RELATIONSHIPS OF 松本蔦

TRV RELATIONSHIPS

LEE JIWOO / MAIN DANCER, RAPPER
"you tiny little anchovy."
jiwoo, anchovy, imouto-chan.
seven out of ten.
PRE-DEBUT tsuta sneered in the back of her mind, how could someone like her be a better dancer than matsumoto tsuta? how could someone like lee jiwoo make it into the final lineup? she did have xie-unnie teach her how to rap. it's only at mei xie's request that tsuta even attempts to be friendly with lee jiwoo. tsuta found herself annoyed by the younger girl, or rather, tsuta was bitter that she couldn't be the best. it made her prickly, it made her curt. lee jiwoo tried to break her boundaries while matusmoto tsuta kept her walls up.

but lee jiwoo didn't give up. between the puns and warmth and sincerity, matsumoto tsuta began seeing her as a sister.

POST-DEBUT
jiwoo is like the younger sister tsuta never had. when the two share a room together, or sleep together, there's always late night banter as the excited jiwoo whispers something across the room and tsuta constantly tries to silence her. jiwoo and tsuta borrow each other's stuff without asking, leading to mini fights. jiwoo is that my top?? "well unnie, you took my top two weeks ago and still haven't given it back!" stop taking my stuff. "you stop taking my stuff! mom" xie-unnie! the two are able to openly pick on each other and they diss each other a lot, but if anyone else tries to speak ill of jiwoo, they'll have a very angry oneechan to deal with.

around jiwoo, tsuta is daringly goofy. while she's usually stoic and collected around others, the younger girls seems to bring out and accentuate her absentmindedness and her abstractness. the pair have so many inside jokes that to some it's difficult to understand what the hell they're talking about. watching jiwoo makes tsuta feel sentimental, she enjoys looking back and wondering how lee jiwoo managed to charm the pants of tsuta and change her view from rival to sister. they do have their fair share of fight, however, with jiwoo being confrontational af and tsuta being machiavellian, things can escalate from small competition to "i'm not speaking to her" fairly quickly.

KANG SEOHWA / LEAD VOCALIST, LEAD DANCER
"what is there to say?"
seohwa.
one out of ten.
PRE-DEBUT matsumoto tsuta seethed. she's not better than me, just look at her. her technique is sloppy. she only beat me because her vocals are better—barely. why do vocals even matter if this is a hip-hop group? i hate her. i hate her. i hate her. kang seohwa had inadvertedly challenged matsumoto tsuta, and matsutmoto tsuta was determined to crush kang seohwa. she shot daggers at seohwa, constantly trying to prove to everyone, including herself, that she was better. tsuta picked her apart in her mind, observing her every weakness.

POST-DEBUT
tsuta didn't learn from the last time. she wanted to absolutely ruin kang seohwa, she wanted to hear her sob. she knows its wrong, she knows xie-unnie will be furious, so matsumoto tsuta keeps her distance. she's never alone with kang seohwa, and she always places at least three members between them. matsumoto tsuta is antagonistic beneath a layer of cool collectedness, she knows this. it's in her human nature according to hobbes. sometimes, she points out flaws in whatever seohwa is doing for fun. seohwa, that move didn't look right, try it again. she knows it's mean, but it makes her feel good.

there is a benefit to having seohwa around, tsuta muses. it encourages her to do better, it gives her a goal to aspire to. sure, the goal may be mean-spirited, but as long as growth and improvement is made, all of that is just a technicality, right?

LANG MEI XIE / LEADER, MAIN RAPPER
"unnie, you're mine!"
xie-unnie, ssenunni.
ten out of ten.
PRE-DEBUT there's only one person tsuta accepts as superior to her with no lingering grudge, lang mei xie. tsuta was entranced by the way charisma and skill seemed to ooze from her every pore. she wanted to know everything about lang mei xie. i want your opinion on something. it's a dance tsuta cheorographed herself. mei xie was frank in the feedback she gave, overall it was good, but certain aspects needed finer tuning. everything mei xie did, tsuta was there to fawn over.

POST-DEBUT
there's no doubting that tsuta is closest to mei xie. mei xie is someone tsuta can share her deepest thoughts and visions with, someone who will listen quietly and contemplate the universe with her. mei xie is dominant and makes tsuta's decisions for her, but thankfully, she knows tsuta well enough to make the right decisions. mei xie helps tsuta write lyrics, assistance tsuta greatly appreciates because she finds mei xie's way with words and rhythm to be something magical. even though matsumoto tsuta is everyone's boyfriend, she's lang mei xie's boyfriend especially.

tsuta almost always has her hands on mei xie, feeling her up in some way, shape, or form. she busts out the cheesiest lines for mei xie unnie, don't wear clothes like this, i want to be the only one to see you like this. i like unnie no matter what she wears. mei xie finds it to be really cute, actually. instead of seeing tsuta as her child like she sees hoseok and jiwoo, mei xie sees tsuta as a younger boy with a big crush on her. mei xie always gives tsuta jokbal whenever she can, which only makes tsuta fall even more madly in love with her. when tsuta is around mei xie, she feels safe, like nothing can hurt her under the older woman's protective gaze.

if there is one member in particular who has seen a more delicate side of mei xie, it's tsuta. if there is any member mei xie confides in, it's tsuta. her way of not asking questions and how silent and in her own mind she is encourages mei xie to open up to her. mei xie feels a very strong fondness of tsuta, having introduced her to ama, and tsuta feels such unfiltered admiration for mei xie that she introduced her to baachan.

MATSUMOTO TSUTA / VOCALIST, DANCER
"not good enough. needs to do better."
tsuta.
three out of ten.
PRE-DEBUT "you have to be twice as good as everyone else". the words echo in her head. she sees the world in two shades, winning and her baachan's disappointed gaze. it's okay to be a little mean in order to succeed, after all, humans were evil by nature. she was aggressive, going as far as to blackmail her best friend. she had to change, she couldn't let people know she was like that. now matusmoto tsuta is quiet, private, closed-off.

POST-DEBUT
you're not good enough. i know. seohwa is better than youi know. you're a terrible person. i know. you shouldn't even be in the group. i know. does she hate herself? yes and no. she hates how inadequate she feels next to everyone and how that makes her into a visicious and cruel person. but other than that, she's more indifferent towards herself. after all, human morality isn't black and white. instead, it is a spectrum of gray.

GO YEOREUM / VOCALIST, PRODUCER
"she's interesting. i like it."
yeoreum, jason.
six out of ten
PRE-DEBUT she's quiet, barely there, like a ghost. go yeoreum doesn't speak, matsumoto tsuta likes that. tsuta can simply sit around yeoreum, in thick silence, and avoid the other members. go yeoreum is weird, matsutmoto tsuta finds that interesting. go yeoreum is trying to figure herself out, and matsumoto tsuta is there to help her.

POST-DEBUT
"why do people think i'm weird?" tsuta doesn't expect the question. it comes up when the two of them are alone, tsuta snacking and yeoreum doing whatever yeoreum likes to do. it's just their perception of normality. "i think i'm normal." then you're normal. much to tsuta's surprise, go yeoreum asks her a lot of questions. mostly about the human condition, the things yeoreum is trying to better understand about herself.  it seems like yeoreum likes figuring these things out, and tsuta is more than happy to help her.

it's a quiet kind of fondness they share. they'll be together and working on the same thing, but two different products come out of it. they'll both sit down to write a song, and two different songs are created. tsuta thinks yeoreum likes her, considering how much they talk. tsuta teaches yeoreum about things, things she can only assume yeoreum likes because she keeps asking more questions.

KANG HANEUL / VISUAL, LEAD RAPPER
"she's good."
kangbap.
five out of ten.
PRE-DEBUT when kang haneul joins the lineup, tsuta spends time observing her. she seems hesitant, scared even. but then she beams like the sun and falls in love with everyone. she talks fast, voice laced with various levels of volume depending on how excited she was, she made finger guns at everyone. tsuta realizes that kang haneul is light and good, like the bright blue sky and tsuta feels that she wants to become more like haneul.

POST-DEBUT
tsuta and haneul in a room together can either be very good or very unproductive. when tsuta goes along with haneul's independent attitude, they get a lot done. but when they're both indifferent and indecisive towards something, they'll spend hours trying to come up with a decision. tsuta admires haneul for her personality, so light and bright. she feels that kang haneul is someone she could have been if she didn't let winning get to her.

QUINN JANG / MAIN VOCALIST
"she's my girlfriend."
quinn.
six out of ten.
PRE-DEBUT tsuta wonders if she hates her, hates quinn jang. quinn is a good vocalist, the main vocalist, so tsuta should view her as competition but quinn jang hasn't done much besides look good and sleep around. quinn flirts with her, more seriously than any other member and it confuses tsuta. it's only something small, a coy comment on tsuta's body and a glint of something naughty in quinn's eyes, but it makes tsuta rethink her uality. quinn seems unaffected, while tsuta can barely look her in the eye. why'd you do that? "do what?" say what you did about me"because i wanted to, isn't that all that matters?"

quinn jang is interesting and matsumoto tsuta finds her heart racing whenever quinn looks at her.

POST-DEBUT
quinn is fun. a girl tsuta's same age who is genuinely bouncy. quinn always wants to play with tsuta, to do something light and fun and tsuta goes along with whatever quinn wants to do. sometimes they go to clubs just to dance, "you're a good dancer!" quinn yells over the music as their bodies dance dangerously close to one another. in this moment, tsuta feels like her boyfriend and shoots a warning message to the men oogling their barely-legal bodies.

tsuta wants to know more about quinn, on a deeper level, but quinn just smiles at her and brings a finger up to her plush lips, "not yet." tsuta shrugs, she'd try again later, only with a more refined approach.

THE RENEWED VIBE / GROUP
"something that serves as a reminder."
matsumoto tsuta did some terrible things to preserve her spot in the group and every day she spends with them serves as a reminder of it. tsuta likes to tell herself that she wins, but she's not. the most useless member of trv, the cruelest, a disgusting that doesn't deserve to live out her dreams. tsuta locks up her deepest feelings because she fears everyone will turn their backs on her.

it gets easier with time, pretending like nothing ever happened and that mori mume was just a horrible coincidence.
