PERSONALITY

Mirai is someone who doesn't take from anyone and her years spent in a pureblood-dominated, muggleborn-hating place like Durmstrang has made her a hardened, strong person. When she was a first year, the cruel remarks people often made about her blood status would make her cry but now, it's like water rolling off a duck's back. You call her a "filthy mudblood/halfblood" and she'll answer with a " you" or something of the sort. You see, Mirai is someone who, despite her childish and innocent look, has a mouth like a sailor. To her, words like '' and '' aren't even swear words to her anymore but simply ways of venting her anger. Mirai is a harsh person who doesn't treat anyone different just because their magical ancestry can be traced back to the beginning of time. To her, people are divided into two categories, s and not-s and 99.99% of the student body in Durmstrang fall into the former. So when they insult her, she insults them back with twice as much vigour. On top of having a rude mouth, Mirai is also rather quick to resort to violence. She'll lash out with a punch or a kick here or there to accentuate her words which is actually really funny to watch because she has absolutely zero strength and so her attacks don't work at all. It's like watching an angry kitten trying to bite you but failing because they don't have any teeth. When people are too far away for physical attacks, she whips out her wand and instantly hexes them, an act which is less funny to watch because they are rather effective. However this means that she spends a lot of time in detention.

Mirai tries to convince everyone that she is someone who 'doesn't need friends' and is 'fine being alone because everyone is an ' and whilst the part is true, she secretly does yearn for friends. When people do approach her in a friendly manner, she initially tells them to ' off' but eventually she'll give and be secretly happy about it. Most people are turned away by her rude manner but those who have the patience find themselves a friend for life. Now, instead of punching and hexing people who insult her half-blood status, she now punches and hexes people who insult her friends. She always takes up the role of protector when, let's be real, her 'protection' is really not that much.

When it comes to her studies, Mirai is a very determined person. Her anger, anger at the pureblood elitists who inhabit the school, anger at the Hikaris who threatened her older sister just to protect her image, is what fuels her determination to excel. She is determined to show the world that a 'filthy halfblood' can do just as much, or even more, than a pureblood can. Whilst Mirai only has average intelligence, she has twice or maybe thrice as much motivation and willpower that everyone else has and puts in more hard-work than her entire class combined. Her desire for revenge and desire for recognition is what has led to her academic success however only in certain subjects. Mirai only works hard in subjects that she finds interesting and enjoys, which, to be fair, is most of them.

 

History

A lot of people would consider Mirai to be a muggleborn even though technically she's a a half-blood. After all, she has a muggleborn wizard for a father and a squib for a mother. Her mother was born to one of the most powerful pureblood families in Japan, the Hikari family. However, when her mother (Ayame) was pronounced a squib, she was instantly disowned from the family and became the Hikari's biggest shame. She was given a muggle education and eventually met Mirai's father (Keito) who was a muggleborn wizard. Despite the supposed dominance of the magical gene, their first daughter (Seira) did not possess any magic however when Mirai was born, the accidental magic showed up incredibly early. They were worried at first but decided that she'd be a normal witch and be enrolled in Mahoutokoro like any other Japanese witch or wizard.

However when they took Mirai to receive her wand, the wand that chose her had cherry wood, an incredibly rare and very prized wood. Ultimately, the Hikaris found out about this and not wanting the entire wizarding world to know about the shame of birthing a squib, they very explicitly told Mirai's parents that if she was to enrol in Mahoutokoro, then the life of their non-magical child would be threatened. After all, with Mirai possessing one of the few cherry wood wants in the school, people were certain to dig up their past. Whilst her parents accepted the Hikaris idea, that didn't stop them from being really really mad at them for treating them like . They decided that if Mirai couldn't enrol in Mahoutokoro, then she would be enrolled in the best possible school in the world and after much deliberation, they settled on Durmstrang and prayed that Mirai would be strong enough to survive the purist ideals of the school.
