PAST — one day, while Yifan was returning home from a regular trip to the Eastern Coast when he discovered a small white bundle, nestled in the snow. the child seemed to have been in the cold for a while & was close to getting hypothermia so he took in the little baby girl. a name wasn't written on the blanket or on the baby's thin clothes. the dragon prince decided to name her Xue Hua because he found her in the snow. he didn't know her birthdate so he consulted the elders to estimate when she had been born. They figured that she had been born in the eighth lunar month of 1996. Yifan decided that the day would be the 15th day of the eighth lunar month; the Mid-Autumn Festival (which also happens to be Chuseok). Since they were dragons following traditional Chinese customs (meaning that they operate on the lunar calendar), he chose that particular day because even if she left the clan one day, people would always be celebrating on the day of her birth. Xue Hua grew up in Yifan's den in the Central Mountains among other dragons & the occasional dragon rider. Xue Hua saw other humans so scarcely that she hadn't even considered that she wasn't a dragon. on her eighth birthday, some of the other young dragons were making comments about Xue Hua & her perculiarities. she ended up bringing it all up with Yifan who then had to awkwardly explain, "Yer a human, Xue Hua".
MOIRA ACADEMY — one of the older students from Moira Royal Academy was sent to their den to tell them that Xue Hua was being summoned by the prophetess of MRA to enroll as a student. Xue Hua vehemently refused at first - how could she leave the only family she had ever known? especially after they had taken her in though she was human. Yifan agreed that if she went, he would also go, corresponding with the other dragon leaders via telepathy & monthly meetings. they left their homely cave (Yifan bringing as much of his "treasures" as he could carry) to become students at MRA. though Xue Hua was assigned a room, she refused to stay there because Yifan couldn't stay with her. all of Yifan's collections are stored in the dorm room instead, while she sleeps in the large barn that houses all sorts of creatures at MRA.

Yifan had been born in the mountains of the Southeastern Coast (Xīqiáo Mountain, Guǎngdōng, China). when Yifan was still a fledgling, an army of humans from the city attacked. most of the dragons of his clan were killed, including his parents, so Yifan had to flee. he travelled as far as he could manage at his age & ended up at Qīngchéng Mountain where he was taken in by an existing dragon clan. after years of living there, he became the leader of the clan.
though Yifan was afraid & distrusted humans, he often would make trips to the Eastern Coast (South Korea), transforming into his human form before going out into the society. he has travelled all over the continent because he has found that he enjoys travelling. he hasn't formed any friendships in the places that he's travelled.
