  PERSONALITY。
◢ Jaerom is quick-witted and possesses such a bright, energetic persona(lity) that makes it almost impossible to hate her. She is one of the persons who are natural moodmakers, she's good on stage, too, but her forte are clearly variety shows since really knows how to keep the mood up and make others laugh. She is very playful, full of random ideas and her 4D tendencies are sometimes a bit too much to handle for the leader, but she's usually fun to be around with. Furthermore doesn't mind doing adventurous things, it's actually the opposite - she loves the thrill and couldn't imagine living a normal, dull and boring life. As part of the unnie-line though, she makes sure to not be overbearing or stressing out the leader too much, she takes care of the younger girls a lot by cooking for them and helping with their laundry and makes sure that they also get their time to shine. Jaerom is full of zest and always has a smile on her lips, she tries to make the best of a situation and she doesn't get angered or intimidated easily. She isn't a positive thinker per se, but she doesn't beat herself up over small mistakes and is the forward-looking type of person. On the downside she's a bit of a health freak and nags often at the people close to her about their nutrition but other than that, she doesn't meddle into other's lives.

She was diagnosed with a case of ADHD which doesn't necessarily require her to take pills when she was fifteen and she decided for herself to not use the medication since she didn't want to depend on it.  Usually she lives just fine without, though it's evident that her attention span is short and she's a bit hyperactive. Sometimes she zones out at the wrong times without meaning to, and it's difficult for her to sit still for too long time without getting painfully bored. Jaerom doesn't tell everybody about her condition, however, she doesn't try to hide it either - currently, none of the girls know about it but if anyone would ask she wouldn't lie about it. However, Jaerom doesn't want to be treated differently by anyone because of her condition and while she craves attention, she outright hates being belittled or seen as 'inferior'. Even though mental health is a difficult topic in South Korea she personally isn't disturbed by the fact that she has ADHD and won't let the diagnosis affect her life whatsoever. It's the opposite - because she knows about her impulsiveness, absent-mended-ness and the other effects of ADHD she secretly makes an extra effort to listen attentively to others, tidying up and keeping everything organized so she won't forget anything and looking back twice before leaving the room to be a hundred percent sure that she hasn't forgotten anything. Over the years Jaerom had become a bit of a 'neat freak' – she can't stand a mess, she's irked by small things like someone not tying their shoelaces properly and she's been sticking to her diet since years, meticulously counting calories each day and outright refusing to eat anything unhealthy.

  While Jaerom looks careless and happy-go-lucky there are actually more sides to her than just that. Jaerom suffers from low self esteem from time to time and while she won't show it openly she gets seriously hurt by mean comments left on articles about her. Somehow she always ends up comparing herself to others – her sister, her band mates, other idols and in the end she always ends up thinking that she's lacking. But Jaerom isn't really a person that would complain about that or share her complexes with other persons, she keeps it to herself and since her usual behaviour doesn't really indicates that she's shy or self-conscious, nobody really notices that she's not that happy with herself as she pretends to be. Jaerom herself likes to overplay her insecurities by doing silly things like pointing out her abs (since her face can't keep up with her sister, she wanted to at least stay in shape) and so she usually suffers quietly.

  BACKGROUND。
◢ Kim Jaerom was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, as the thrid child and younger one of twin siblings to a stay-at-home mother and a former national diver and now coach of the national swimming team as a dad. Because of her father's profession and her parents' love for sport, Jaerom's family lived a very healthy and fitness-oriented life. Jaerom picked up dancing at age four, football at age five and swimming at age seven. Out of all the activities, she loved dancing most but was good in almost everything since she had naturally good reflexes and flexibility. Her parents were always supportive of her, they were slightly strict about doing one's best at school and staying in shape, but since Jaerom was a naturally hardworking person, they didn't have much to criticize about her - it was actually her twin brother, Jaehyun, who was the black sheep of the family and rather played starcraft than to study for his exams. However, while she was more eager to learn than her twin brother, she was long not as good as her elder sister, Jaekyung, who seemed to have a natural talent at everything she picked up and was nearly perfect in the eyes of their relatives.

In some ways, Jaekyung was always Jaerom's biggest idol. Growing up, Jaekyung set a high standard for her younger siblings - she had high grades, was naturally very pretty and talented in many different areas such as sports and the arts. even though her big sister was anything but mean to her Jaerom still felt envy towards her sister. It was a difficult relationship because Jaerom wanted to be like Jaekyung and wanted her approval even more than her parents but at the same time also was jealous and pushed her sister away. When Jaekyung became a JYP trainee in 2004 their relationship reached it's all time low - it seemed to Jaerom that everything her sister did became a success. It wasn't like Jaerom wanted to become a trainee, but Jaekyung just seemed to get all the offers other girls could only dream about.Luckily her twin brother Jaehyun wasn't as perfect and didn't overshadow her at anything she did (truthfully, she was both book-smarter and more sportive than him) so she could relate to him more. They had a very close relationship with each other and were almost inseparable but both were a bit detached to their oldest sister Jaekyung.

One night in middle school Jaerom came home late from school and saw Jaekyung crying alone in the kitchen. Jaerom approached her and they had a honest heart-to-heart talk. It was the first time she realized that Jaekyung wasn't as perfect as she always appeared to be and that she had her own struggles. Everyone around her had very high expectations for her that she  couldn't all fullfill. It made Jaerom see Jaekyung in a different light and she also swore herself that she'd never become a trainee and expose herself to an eight-to-ten hours a day training shedule.  Not much later Jaekyung moved to DSP Media and debuted under Rainbow when Jaerom was fifteen.
