IV. Answer Me!
Knock Me Out and Pick Me UpChapter 4: Answe Me!
Since the day Kyungsoo went to Jongin's apartment for the second time, (Well, that's what Jongin thinks) the younger male has never been at peace. He couldn't stop thinking about that damn phone call. He was always aware of his surroundings, never letting his guard down. Jongin has already learned not to underestimate the doe-eyed man's ability. He couldn't help but think of Kyungsoo's words.
Speaking of which, that's what he's doing right now. What time? Only at 3 in the morning if I may add. Two days have passed just like this and you don't know how much Jongin misses his deep slumbers or when he can easily escape to his dreams and get back to reality, if not in the afternoon, late in the morning.
He stares at his digital clock wondering at which number he'd finally be able to close his eyes. Desperate, he resolves to searching the internet for pictures of sheep. He scans through it, sometimes counting if there are a lot of the said animal in one photo. It didn't take long until something reminds him of Kyungsoo. He curses the world when he saw a picture of an animal with huge eyes, like it was staring right through the depths of his soul... just how it is with Kyungsoo.
He starts becoming paranoid. Jongin puts away his phone on his mahogany side table thinking that it only made his situation worse. Every sound makes his muscles tense. Loud thumps were heard coming from his window, but the curtains are obstructing his view. A shadow is being casted on the said cloth, and Jongin couldn't help but think it was a hand.
He pulls his blankets up 'til it reaches just under his eyes. He unconsciously stops breathing expecting anyone— anything to strike. It continuously hits against the window finally irritating Jongin.
With no choice, he hugs his pillows, throws off his blankets and heads for the windows. The window was slightly ajar, letting the cool breeze in. Jongin stretches his hand, his fingertips slightly brushing the curtains.
He hears the leaves rustle though the wind wasn't that strong. He holds the fabric, mentally preparing himself for anything on the other side. He takes a deep breath and roughly pulls the curtains.
"Ow!" A small ball suddenly hits him square on the head. He sees a shadow move in the dark, yet the face was obstructed by some leaves and branches. His spine crawls and goosebumps were forming on his skin. Everything left Jongin dumbfounded. Who would just throw a ball and run away? Only one name pops in his head. One name he has learned to fear, hate, despise, like- wait what?
He shrugs it off and prepares to go back to bed, completely forgetting about the ball that was thrown until he bends to get his blanket. Attached to it was a piece of paper which he carefully unfolds. It says, Let me chase you again... Not in my dreams but in real life. Park @7am. Xoxo
Jongin runs a hand through his hair, puzzled but oddly, not completely shocked. What does he want again? He rubs his bare chest, trying to decide what to do while holding the slightly crumpled paper at eye level.
He heaves a deep sigh, but just before he places the paper on his table, he catches a mild strawberry scent. It seemed all too familiar. He lets his eyes wander around his room until it lands on the paper. Just as he suspected, it came from that, but why was it familiar? He takes another whiff with a puzzled expression, but unbelievably, a small smile replaces it as he realizes that was Kyungsoo's scent. Wait– that sounded wrong...
With no choice due to his curiosity, Jongin sets his alarm for 5:45am. Before putting it back on his mahogany table, a sigh escapes his lips as his brain registers that he'd only have two and a half hours for his oh-so-precious sleep (or less depending how fast sleep would consume
