It’s been three years since best friends Angie and Jasmine moved to South Korea after finishing high school. Aspiring to be a radio host and eventually an MC, Angie takes up a job as a journalist on celebrity gossip to earn some experience in the field. Jasmine studies abroad eagerly with an undecided major and has also been an avid fan of Seventeen with a website dedicated to Joshua. After a year, the two go their separate ways but still stay in contact with each other. Angie’s job is growing ever demanding and it’s starting to take more to impress her boss if she ever wants a promotion. Since she has special access to events, Jasmine often asks her for some help getting into them. The answer is always yes, but it comes at a price. After one ‘task’ goes wrong, Jasmine quits and never asks Angie for her special connections again. That is until Seventeen debuts and hosts an exclusive fan signing for people with these special connections. The price of this one is even more daring than any in the past and gets them in deeper trouble than they bargained for.

She slowly opened her eyes sensing the warmth radiating her face. “Ugh.” She threw a pillow at the window knowing it wouldn’t make any difference. “Stupid sun,” she mumbled and turned the other direction. Right when she was about to fall back asleep her phone started ringing. Pull up on you wacks with a Mac fully loaded ah! “I’m trying to sleep Vernon!” She grabbed her phone from the nightstand and dragged the decline logo across the screen without glancing at the name. Closing her eyes, she attempted to fall asleep. After fifteen minutes she decided it was hopeless. Okay, this isn’t going to work.

She got up and headed to the kitchen to see what she could make for breakfast. Cereal, oatmeal, bread, ramen… more cereal. Okay, maybe not. Walking away from the cabinet, she looked into the refrigerator. Nothing… ugh. Guess I'll pick up something from the cafe. “Amy! We’re going to have to buy groceries today!” She waited for a response… that’s usually not like her, she’s always awake by this time in the morning. She walked to her room and knocked on the door, “Noemi?” She slowly walked in and saw that her roommate wasn’t there. Oh, she left already.

Just recently Noemi, Amy as she liked to call her, started staying out late and waking up a lot earlier. It wouldn’t be that strange if it wasn’t for her studious manner and seriousness about school. They became roommates a year and a half ago so they still had a lot to learn about each other but Jasmine still felt like they could trust each other with secrets and she knew she was definitely missing something here.

She returned back to her bedroom, grabbed her towel and took a quick shower. I hope she isn’t in any kind of trouble. She’s always been very upfront about these things to prevent any misunderstandings. She sighed. Walking out of the shower she grabbed her towel and wrapped it around herself. Making her way into her bedroom, she heard Amy enter the apartment. “Yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to it. Maybe we can drop by the store unless that’s a bit too much.” She sounded cheerful. Jasmine quickly closed the door and got dressed eager to ask Amy what happened.

“Hey, Ames! I was wondering what happened to you!” She shouted as she walked out of the room.

“Oh, I went grocery shopping. I noticed we were out of a few things.” Amy smiled. Though she spoke English well, she was actually born and raised in Korea.

“I was actually going to tell you about that, but I guess you beat me to it. Thanks!” Jasmine said gratefully.

“No problem. I’m probably going to be out late tonight, so could you leave the spare key in the plant outside?”

“Yes, of course. Studying?” Jasmine asked starting to put the groceries away.

“No, I’m actually going out on a-“ Amy wasn’t sure she wanted to continue but figured her roommate was at least trustworthy enough to know what she was doing, “on a date.”

“You’re going on a date?!” Jasmine asked surprised and ushered her to the couch. “Oh my gosh! Who is he? What’s his name? Is he good looking? I can’t believe you’re going on a date!”

“Is it that unbelievable?” Amy asked playfully hurt.

“No, of course not. I’m just shocked a guy is this important to you,” Jasmine laughed nervously.

“I’m just kidding! I’m not hurt silly! Anyways, he is very good looking. I’d love to introduce you to him, but we’re still in the middle of figuring things out and right now wouldn’t be a good time.” Amy confessed.

“Ah, how long have you known each other?” Jasmine begged for details.

“Almost as long as I’ve been rooming with you. We’ve only been dating for the past two months though…” Amy blushed.

“I’m so happy for you!” Jasmine cheered.

“Thanks!” She grinned. “Also, did you know your favorite group is holding a special fan signing tomorrow?”

“What?!” Jasmine stood up.

“Yeah, but only people with certain connections can attend. Sorry, I just thought you should know” She sympathized.

“How did you find out though?” Jasmine asked.

“A friend told me…” she turned from her face, not being able to stand the lie.

“Thanks for letting me know. Excuse me, I need to call someone really quick.” Jasmine walked to her bedroom and picked up her phone. Oh yeah, I got a phone call this morning. I wonder who it is. Looking at her call log, she saw the name of the exact person she was about to call. Angie. Of course she knew about the fan meeting. She dialed her number and waited for her to pick up.

BZZZ. Angie’s phone vibrated causing all her coworkers to immediately look at her. She blushed, “Sorry everyone.” Grabbing her phone, she quickly declined the phone call.

“Angie! You know how I hate interruptions, especially when I’m the one being interrupted,” Her boss glared at her.

“I apologize for the interruption sir,” She bowed

He accepted her apology and continued his analysis on how their tabloid magazine wasn’t raking in a steady income anymore and something needed to be done about it. Angie glanced down at the phone when he turned around and started ranting about projected statistics. Jasmine. She must’ve heard. Angie quickly typed in a message to her:

Can’t talk right now. In a meeting. I’ll call you after.

“Angie!”

Upon hearing his voice, she whipped up her head afraid he had caught her texting. Thankfully he was still turned around, “Y-yes sir?”

“The new boy group Seventeen just made their debut and I believe this is our chance at getting our hands on something that isn’t available to everyone. I want you to attend their upcoming fan meeting that’s exclusive to only a select few. You’re now one of them.”

He threw a badge at her with the word ‘VIP’ plastered on it.

“Anything will do, I don’t care how ridiculous it is.” He said lastly.

“Okay sir,” she bowed.

After ten more minutes of assigning other employees to tasks, he released them. “So what do you think of your assignment?” Angie asked Kyung, a coworker of hers. She’s had a crush on him since she started working at the company.

“I get to meet Exo, what do you think?” He asked.

“You’re overwhelmed with excitement.” She said sarcastically.

“Ha, you’re funny Angie.” He laughed with mock amusement.

“Kyung, half the people in the world would kill to meet them, and I mean that literally.” Though she didn’t care much for Exo either she would still be excited to meet them.

“I guess that’s true, but you should be more excited than I. You’re meeting a new boy group and I heard they’re all good looking,” He raised an eyebrow.

She blushed, “They’re not my type.”

“Young and handsome isn’t your type? I wonder what is then.” He was teasing her now and she knew it.

“My type is young, available, and sweet, you know that,” She said playfully shoving him.

He sighed, the smile disappearing from his face, “Well I guess we know you won’t find that guy here.” They stopped walking.

She looked down at the floor knowing their moment was over. He was engaged to a nice girl from a rich family, it was arranged and he never had a say in it. Whatever he wanted didn’t matter, only his family did and he knew that “Maybe we could meet after our assignments, to celebrate our promotions.” She smiled trying to improve the mood.

He wasn’t into it, “I can’t do that to her. Even if I don’t love her I could at least do that much. I feel guilty just flirting with you, going out on a date would be even worse. Besides, who said we’re getting promoted?”

“I did and who said it was a date? It’s not a crime to meet with a friend.” She attempted convincing him.

He sighed again, his smile returning, “Okay, but this is the one and only time.”

She smiled back at him though it hurt, “Deal.”

“Okay, let’s get to work. I have some things to take care of.” He waved and walked to his desk.

Angie stood there filled with excitement as she waved back at him. When he turned around she remembered the phone in her hand. Oh yeah! Jasmine! She dialed her number and waited for her to answer.
