That's life

Bulletproof High School

His palm cupped my cheek and his head leaned in. My eyes widened when his soft lips made contact with mine. After the initial shock, my eyes slowly slid closed. I could stay in that moment forever. But unfortunately, time moves on from moments like this. His gentle lips pulled away from mine and my eyes opened to meet his. His sparkling eyes stared deeply into mine. Heat flowed into my cheeks and I became completely flustered. My eyes darted to the side to try to avoid eye contact and I took a step back.

"Shall we go get something warm to drink?" Taehyung smiled gorgeously at me, making me redden even more.

I nodded awkwardly. I could feel his eyes on me the whole time and then I felt his hand slip into mine. I quickly looked up at him and he smiled.

"Okay then, let's go," Taehyung gently pulled me and we walked down the sidewalk hand in hand.

_____1 week later_____

I walked up to my school. Today was my first day back at school. Hoseok was returning on the same day. If he wasn't, I would have waited until he was coming back. I got my wrap removed from my left hand but on my right arm, I still had a cast. Namjoon isn't allowed to come back for a few weeks, he is still recovering in the hospital.

I slowly entered the school. Everything was the same even though I'd been gone. Well not everything was the same. Kyungmi was suspended for about three weeks for what she did to me and was sentenced to quite an extensive number of hours of community service. Though she would only be gone for another two weeks, it was a relieving feeling to know that I was safe for a while.

I headed straight to my locker and put some things in and took some thing out. As I was pushing a folder into my backpack, I heard my name.

"Hyojin," Hoseok called happily. I met his eyes and smiled. His shoulder had healed well and he had caught up on some sleep after the crazy days at the hospital.

"Hoseok! I missed you!" I wrapped my arms excitedly around him. His parents hadn't let him leave the house nor get any visitors until he was healed.

"Haha I missed you too," Hoseok chuckled and hugged me back.

"Are you ready for class?" I asked as I let go of him and finished putting the folder into my bag.

"Yup. I am pretty excited to be back honestly," Hoseok admitted.

"Yeah me too. I kind of wasn't paying any attention on the first day," I said as I slung my back pack over my shoulder and closed my locker. "I didn't even really get to meet the people in my classes. I guess they've all already been aquainted with each other though and now I'll be the loner," I let out a sigh. "I mean, we didn't even get to go to the first five or so classes the first day."

"Hey, don't be so negative," Hoseok rested his hand on my shoulder. "I know you, you'll make friends. Don't worry, okay?"

I nodded, forcing a small smile. Hoseok walked me to my first class and promised to meet me at my locker before lunch.

When I entered the classroom, I did a quick scan of the room. There were a few familiar faces but more unfamiliar faces. I stopped short of the last bt of the room because of the teacher that called ot me. "Hyojin? You're Hyojin, right?" The teacher smiled at me.

She seems nice. "Oh yes, I'm Park Hyojin," I did a quick bow to the teacher and then smiled at her.

"Ah it is very nice to finally meet you," she looked genuinely happy. "Your seat will be over there, by Hana," she pointed to the part of the room that I hadn't gotten to yet.

The moment I laid eyes on her, I couldn't help but let out a gasp. "A-are you sure that's where I should sit?"

"Oh yes, she is very sweet, don't worry. On top of that, she is new too. She just transferred here. Go on, sit down," the teacher pushed me gently and i began reluctantly walking.

I gulped as I got closer. So Hana was that 's name... I stared straight into the eyes of Kyungmi's twin sister. The that broke Yoongi's poor heart.

"Oh Hyojin, how nice to see you again," she grinned evilly at me.

I sat down with a groan. At least she's not identical to Kyungmi. She was on the right side of me. I turned my body slightly to the left so that I wasn't facing her.

"Class will be staring soon so everyone take your seats," the teacher said and kids started to move from their friends and to their own seats. I started to take out my pencil bag and folder.

Just then, someone came in. I didn't bother to look up since I seemed to know nobody anyway. I had situate myself when I sensed the person move next to me in the isle. I did a quick glance but then had to take another look. No way.

"Oh Hyojin!"

A huge grin formed on my face. Taehyung was in my class. "Taehyung!"

"You're in my class? What are the chances?" He smiled happily.

"I didn't think we'd be in the same class. This is so lucky!" I couldn't stop smiling. Then I remembered that night that we went on a date.

After he kissed me, we went on a date and it was so nice. He and I had a great time together. Once it was over, he brought me back to the hospital where my mom picked me up in tears. She had been busy being a lawyer in Germany but when she heard about what had happened to me, she tried to come out as soon as possible. Honestly though, I think she only used me being in the hospital as an excuse for getting a break and leaving the country.

"Taehyungie~ Don't I look pretty today?" Hana swooned.

Taehyung turned his attention to her for a moment. "I'm sorry, do I know you?"

"I'm sorry, I just couldn't help but notice your beauty. I'm Hana, Lee Hana. You know my sister, Kyungmi."

"Kyungmi?! You're the one that was bothering the mute patient?"

"Huh? Oh no I was just resolving an issue with him. We were dating but now I'm single," Hana lied, batting her eyes.

I turned to her with my mouth open in astonishment. "You liar! I know you have a boyfriend. You were dating him at the same time as Yoongi. Don't start flirting with Taehyung too."

"He can date me if he wants you ," Hana made a face at me.

"Well he doesn't want to!" I argued.

"You don't get to choose for him!" She quickly looked to Taehyung. "Oppa, don't you want to go get ice cream with me some time?"

"I'm sorry, Hana, I can't. I don't think my girlfriend would be too happy about that," Taehyung turned her down politely.

But both Hana and I gaped, saying in sync, "Girlfriend?!"

Taehyung looked back and forth between us. Then he chuckled, "Yeah, girlfriend."

"But-" Hana was about to protest when the teacher cut in.

"Okay, let's start class now. Please take out a blank sheet of paper," she turned to the white board and started writing.

I sat there, staring at my paper with this empty feeling inside. He  has a girlfriend? So he was just playing with me? Who is she? She's probably some popular bit-

"Hyojin, are you with us?" The teacher asked with slight concern. I looked up and nodded and started frantically writing down what she had written.

Just stop thinking about it, Hyojin. It's none of your business anyway.

When the bell rang, I gathered my things and left that classroom so fast that neither Hana nor Taehyung could get a chance to talk to me.

As I rushed out of the classroom, I ran straight into someone else. "Ah I'm sorry, I should have been paying more attention," I started to apologize before I looked up to see who it was. "Oh," I stated blankly when I had finally looked at the person.

I set my eyes on Hoseok as he gave me a strange look. "Petalfly, are you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, but we need to get going. Come one, I'll tell you about it as we go to class," I grabbed his arm and yanked him with me towards our next class together.

"So? What's so urgent that you won't even greet me before pulling me down the halls like that?" Hoseok turned curiously towards me.

"Okay, there's a lot. Here it goes; so Hana is in that class," I said while pointing back at my class. "She must have transferred here just today," I informed him with big eyes.

He cocked his head to the side. "Hana? Hana who?"

"Hana... as in Lee Hana.. as in Kyungmi's twin sister," I looked expectantly at him.

The information took just a moment to sink into Hoseok's brain. "Oooh... wait she goes here?! Is that even allowed after what happened to you?"

"Well the actual perpetrator didn't get expelled so.. yeah I guess her sister wouldn't get blocked either," I spoke with lots of hand gestures. I shrugged, "Oh well, I guess that's life."

"Okay well what else is there?"

"Okay so do you remember Taehyung? The hot one from the hospital? The one that I went on a date with?.." I suddenly started blushing at the thought of him.

"Ooo yes I remember him clearly. What about him? Anything juicy?"

"Well... yeah but not the kind of juicy that you're looking for. He's... he's got a girlfriend."

"He what?!" Hoseok's eyes bulged.

I was about to respond when suddenly I got a text. Hoseok noticed as I took my phone out of my pocket.

"Who is it?"

"Oh god is it Taehyung?" I said in exasperation as I turned it on to see who it was. "Huh?.." I looked at the name and stopped walking.

Hoseok stopped and looked back. "What? Who is it? Is it him?"

"N-no. I don't think you know him..."

"What? Really? There's someone that you know but I don't know?" Hoseok curiously came back towards me.

"Yeah... his name is Seokjin, he's friends with Namjoon," I said, staring at my phone.

"Well what did he say?" Hoseok asked as he peeked at the screen.

I just looked at the text.

'Hey, Hyojin, it's Seokjin. Remember me? From the hospital? Anyway, I'm sorry I never contacted you, I... have had a situation for the past week. Namjoon is healing now, right? Is he still unconscious? I need to talk to you in person about something important. It has to do with the people that harmed Namjoon. Get back to me soon, okay? Even though I didn't contact you until a week passed, I hope that you'll respond within the day.'

"He said basically that he knows something about who hurt Namjoon," I looked up at Hoseok. "At lunch I'm going to call him and see if he can meet up."

"Okay, I'm down with that."

We went to our second period class and were both kind off out of it. We were both thinking about who could be behind Namjoon's hospitalization. When the period was over, Hoseok and I parted ways and I went to my third period class. When I entered the room, I  immediately reddened. There was Taehyung. Again?

"Hyojin!" He waved at me. I just looked at him and then went straight toward the teacher.

"I'm Park Hyojin," I bowed and waited to be given a seat.

"Sit over there by Taehyung. Taehyung can you wave please so that our 'new' student can find her seat?" The teacher gave me a light push on the back so that I would go.

I walked slowly towards him. Why the hell is this happening to me?! I'll probably have to explain myself now! I groaned inwardly.

"Hyojin-ah, how lucky is this, come sit here," Taehyung smiled warmly, sending heat into my cheeks.

"Ah yeah hi," I took my seat next to him. How lucky.

"Hyojin, are you okay? You left the other class so quickly and you just seem a little off. Is something wrong?" Taehyung leaned towards me a little but I didn't even glance his way.

"No nothing's wrong." I said, not looking at him.

"Are you sure? Because you look really agitated..." He suddenly paused. "Oh. Did I do something wrong?"

The way his voice sounded made my heart hurt. Yeah, you , you toyed with me. Finally, I looked at him. "Just seeing Hana must have made me a bit off."

"Oh yeah... Hana. She was hard to get rid of."

"Well you handled it well enough. She's very lucky," I said, almost rolling my eyes.

Taehyung tilted his head. "'She'?"

"She has picked a good boyfriend. At least she doesn't have to worry about you going on dates with es," my voice ripped out harshly before I could even second guess it.

"Hy-hyojin... Why are you talking like that? I don't understand. Why are you so irritated? There is no way that Hana made you this angry."

"Oh sorry, I was talking about your girlfriend. Maybe that's what made me so angry," I turned quickly to face him.

"What?"

"You want me to be straight with you?" I crossed my arms.

"Yeah, what the hell are you even talking about?" Even Taehyung was starting to get a bit irritated now.

"Why would you mess with me, Taehyung?" I looked him hard in the eye. His mouth fell open. He was speechless. "Tell me, did you get her after I went on a date with you or before?"

"Hyojin, what?" Suddenly his face changed. "Hyojin, you're misunderstanding."

"Really? Am I? Because I definitely heard you say that you have a girlfriend."

Taehyung chuckled, making me raise my eyebrows. "Hyojin, I was referring to you!" Taehyung's smile made me feel stupid as it all set in.

"What?" I uncrossed my arms and adjusted in my seat. I was astonished and... thoroughly embarrassed.

"I see why you were so mad now, I didn't realize you thought I was talking about another girl. I guess I was never clear about how I thought of us, plus I never actually asked you out. So.. do you want to date me?"

"I-I I mean yes I do but I.. I thought-"

"It's okay, I understand. Now that that's cleared up, we're official, right?"

"Y-yeah I guess so," I gulped. You're so stupid, Hyojin. Omigosh.

Class started and half way through what had just happened for me finally hit. My heart started doing flips and I felt like screaming in excitement. I can't wait to tell Hoseok!!

It seemed like the period would never end but finally, we were dismissed and I was practically squealing already, just thinking about what I would tell Hoseok.

"Hyojin, you have next period with Mrs. Yoon, right?" Taehyung stopped me from running off to gossip to my best friend.

"Huh? Oh yeah actually.. wait do you have her too?"

"Yup!" Taehyung grinned happily.

"Oh then should we walk together?" As much as I wanted to walk with him, I also had that class with Hoseok and I was looking forward to fangirling with him.

"Sure thing!" Taehyung swung his bag over his shoulder and we started walking out of the classroom together.

"Tae oppa!" A squealing voice came from my left -- the side that Taehyung was on.

We both turned to see Hana hurrying over in our direction. "Uh, Taehyung, I don't think we can get rid of her..." I looked at him in slight exasperation.

"Hyojin!" Hoseok called to me and then when he noticed Taehyung beside me, he continued, "Hyojin, I need to talk to you, right now. Hurry over here!"

I was shocked and told Taehyung that I had to go but I'd see him in the next class after I had finished talking to Hoseok. Taehyung gave me a desperate look as I left and Hana clung to his arm. I wanted to help him but Hoseok needed me. "What is it, Hopie? Did something happen?"

"No I just wanted to help you get away from that player," Hoseok said with a glimmer of hate in his eyes.

"Oh right, the thing is, he was calling me his girlfriend! Can you believe it? We're official!"

Hoseok's expression changed within a matter of seconds. "What? Really?! Oh my gosh! That's amazing!" He started doing a joyful jump that I joined in on.

We walked to our next class and when we walked in, I set my eyes immediately in Taehyung but not long after, I spotted Hana who was fawning over my boyfriend.

"Can you believe her, Hoseok?" I said in irritation as I gestured towards Hana. But he didn't answer so I turned to look at him. "Huh?" I saw Hoseok's intent gaze on another boy in the room. The boy had cute crescent eyes and chubby cheeks. I nudged Hoseok's arm with mine. "Hopie?"

"Huh? What? Sorry, what were you saying?"

I laughed. "You're so cute! You like him, huh?" I grinned teasingly at him.

Hoseok smiled awkwardly and rubbed the back of his neck. "He's pretty cute," he admitted.

"Haha, I knew it."

We waited for the teacher to assign our seats and when they were assigned, I was bummed to find that I sat next to the chubby cheeked guy and Hoseok sat by Taehyung.

"Excuse me," a small voice called. I turned to me side and saw the guy Hoseok had his eye on leaning towards me.

"Oh. Yes?" I might as well make a good impression on him for Hoseok.

"Do you have an extra pencil?"

"Oh haha yeah, here," I handed him one of my pencils.

He smiled gratefully at me. "Thanks."

The period came to an end quickly and it was time for lunch. "Hyojin, do you want to eat together?" Taehyung asked, approaching me.

"Uh I really would like to but I actually have a phone call to make and maybe an errand to run," I said apologetically.

"That's fine, maybe tomorrow?" He asked, still smiling.

"Yeah, sure," I smiled back until I saw Hana's devilish face.

"Yeah, tomorrow, Hyojin. Better luck next time," Hana smirked as she yanked Taehyung out the door with her.

"Okay Hoseok, let's go outside to make this call," I said and we headed out the front doors.

The phone rang for about five seconds before Seokjin picked up. "Hello?"

"Seokjin, it's Hyojin."

"Ah Hyojin! Let's meet at the store just by our school."

"Okay, do you mind if I bring a friend?"

"Do you trust him with everything?"

"Um yes?"

"Even your life?"

"Yes of course, why does this matter?"

"You'll see. You'll see why I'm doing all of this -- meeting in person to tell you what I know, doubting your friend, and meeting outside of school."

"Oh-okay," now I was a little worried.
