Suho was nothing if not an excellent listener.

If there was even a flicker of recognition at the mention of Cholerny's past invasion by ghouls, Lay didn't notice it. He did notice his expression of increasing concern, however. 

"Something certainly needs to be done, but I'm just not sure that it's the right time. It seems as though we are being presented with endless questions without solutions."

Lay nodded.

"I agree, which is why I've decided that, for the moment, it would be best for me to accompany Beatrice back to the village, and stay there for a short while."

"Have you discussed this with her?"

"Not yet, but I don't believe she'll object. She understands how important it is for me to have a purpose right now, and Cholerny is the best place for me to find it. I believe that if I act carefully, the villagers won't trouble me."

Suho smiled kindly, putting a hand on Lay's shoulder. 

“You should do what you think is best, but it's crucial that you stay in touch; both of you. Strange things are beginning to happen quickly.”

He nodded and turned to leave.

"Lay?"

"Hm?"

"I truly believe that you're already on your way to finding whatever it is you're looking for. I wish you luck. It seems that soon, we're all going to need it."
