Hoseok takes a deep breath, one hand on the cool metal handle that is just still attached to the rough wooden door. It isn’t just the door - the entire place has the feeling of some run-down rabbit hole; from the single, dusty light to the rickety stairs with loose floorboards. Gingerly, Hoseok takes a step, then, seeing that the stairs aren’t about to crumble beneath his feet, he takes another. Halfway down he can already hear the music, heavy bass shaking the railings he’s gripping onto like a lifeline. When he reaches the last step he immediately notes the fluorescent lights, illuminating the ring of people surrounding a breakdancer - their name passed in hushed whispers through the crowd.

Hoseok grins, breaking through the crowd to stand at the front.

The dancer drops his routine as soon as he catches sight of Hoseok.

“Hoseok-ah~ You came!”

“Hey hyung!~ 

His hyung nods towards the centre of the makeshift circle. “Want to try?”

Hoseok backs up immediately, “Hyung, I don’t breakdance.”

The older shrugs, “But you feel the music,” and pushes Hoseok into the centre, laughing.

He wasn’t lying when he said he doesn’t breakdance. He doesn’t. But, as the low bass beats out of the speakers, music washing over him, he finds himself moving anyway.

He leaves the club riding a high that he can never quite capture in the mirrored walls of his usual dance studio, with a promise to return tomorrow night.
