The Start
The fight for true love and friendshipDon't be scared," Hyunseung told his dongsaeng, "Oppa is here."
It was my first day at my oppa's school. Since I had just moved up a grade after my last year at middle school, I'm at the same high school as my oppa. It felt so weird, I was afraid I couldn't adapt.
"If you need me, I will be in the cafeteria during your lunch break." He patted my head and walked away.
I realised oppa had already led me to my first class. This is it. I thought.
During my lunch break, I went to find my oppa who was sitting with 5 other guys.
"Hi dongsaeng," Hyunseung oppa pulled me into a hug, "How's your day so far?"
"Boring."
"You always say that. Anyway, these guys here are my basketball mates. This is Dujun, Yoseob, Gikwang, Dongwoon and Junhyung." As he called their names they said 'Hi'.
All five of them looked either cute or handsome. But Junhyung was the one who caught my attention. But deciding to put on a cool front, I said 'hi oppas' once.
"What's the matter with you my dear?" Hyunseung oppa wrapped his arm on my shoulder and led me away.
"Nothing."
"Awww. Tell oppa."
"I can't decide which CCA I should take." (CCA stands for co-curriculum activities.)
Although it's only half true, oppa just smiled at me.
"Hello everyone, let me introduce to you my cute dongsaeng." I was taken aback, I didn't realise we had reached my first class.
"Please be nice to her." Hyunseung oppa smiled and walked away.
I walked in looking for an empty seat. As soon as I sat down, a group of girls say around me. They were quite pretty, most of them let their curly hair down. Girls who want to get close to my oppa and his friends? I asked myself, sighing simultaneously.
"What's your name? I'm Lee Hyori."
"Jang Nicole."
"Shouldn't you be in the cheerleading team? You seem pretty agile from your movements." One of the girls, Gayoon asked.
"I didn't try out. I don't really like the idea of me in short skirts. Thank you." I tried to keep a neutral tone to avoid an misunderstanding between us. I heard from my oppa that cheerleading team girls are very influential. It would not be to your advantage if they start hating you.
"Okay then." Gayoon said.
Sensing that she seemed a bit offended and annoyed, I quickly asked, "Do you want to come over tonight?"
"For dinner or a sleepover?" Jiyeon asked, sounding excited.
"Whichever you prefer."
"We'll just go for dinner. Thanks!" Soyeon told me.
"Meet me at the track at 5.30pm."
I called my mum after my first lesson after break to inform her that there were friends coming over for dinner.
After all my afternoon classes, I walked out to the track where the track and field were training. Maybe I'll just choose track. But I want dance and floorball. Nah. I think I don't want dance. So either track or floorball. The ongoing 'mental' competition to decide which CCA I shall pick. Having only played it once, floorball is almost an entirely new sport to me. But I have been in the Track team since middle school, specialising in 100 and 200metres. I'll decide this later.
"Hey dongsaeng!" Hyunseung oppa finally came.
"I invited friends over for dinner."
"That's great! Then we oppas won't be so bored." He winked. "Those guys you saw during lunch are coming too, except for Junhyung hyung."
How I wished Junhyung oppa was coming. Oh well.
Just at that moment, Gayoon, Jiyeon, Soyeon and Hyori appeared.
"Hey Nicole!" Jiyeon shouted.
"Hi dongsaengs!" Hyunseung waved at them.
"Let's head home now." I tugged at my oppa's hand.
