E-Young's P.O.V:

I got home from school, and just shuffled to my room, not saying anything to anyone. Ever since Umma died, I felt like a part of me had died, too.

My grades were slacking, and even though I didn't want to, even though I remember Umma's words, I just didn't have the strength to try in school any more. Every single night, I was tortured by my flashbacks of my Umma, and her sweet smile.

This is my Umma. Wasn't she pretty? She was Chinese-Korean.

I cried myself to sleep every night, and got no sympathy from Ae, Dongmin, and especially not appa. All he had did was beat me every night, due to my suffering grades. I didn't even have the strength to fight back or argue. I just lay, helpless, on my bed as appa beat me with every object in sight. A lamp, a bat, a shoe. The worse was the lamp, though. He would take the lamp shade off and burn me with the light bulb that had been burning ever since morning. I begged appa numerous times, to just kill me, but he never did. I guess he didn't hate me that much. 

Being so consumed in my thoughts, I didn't notice my appa got home a few minutes ago. I tried to hide, but it was useless. He'd just find me and beat me harder. I sat at the edge of my bed and as usual, got my beating. But it was worse this time, I was knocked unconscious. 

"Umma? Can you hear me?

I might be joining you, soon.

I miss you, Umma. I miss your sweet smile.

I miss your smell, your cooking, and your embrace.

I wish you could come back.
