Forsaken Dreamscape

I stir and I slowly open my eyes, fighting the bright light that’s directed at me. I blink and I stare at the figures by my side. What are they doing? I can’t feel anything, I’m… numb.
“Hello V, you’re finally awake.” the man says in a deep voice and pushes the lamp away from my face. I blink and my vision becomes slightly clear. Blurry but it’s coming back. “You can’t move yet, but you will later.” he presses something on the machine and my gurry moves automatically to change my position. “The operation was a success. Now, all that’s left to do is to monitor you twenty four-seven.” he fixes his eyeglasses’ ridge. “You’re halfway there, V. If you survive this. You will be the first experiment to do so.” he smiles and I wonder what he means by that.
Experiment? What?
“W-w-w…” I try to say but it comes off really hard, like something’s stopping me from doing so. It hurts. It’s like something’s beeping in my brain. What is that?
“Don’t talk yet. It’ll hurt for a while.” he says and turns to his clipboard. “Well, according to our previous experiments, that’s what they said.” he taps his ballpen and looks at me dead in the eyes. “Are you ready with your new life, V?”
