Chapter 3
Forsaken Dreamscape3
The weight of my body comes back to me and I feel as if I’ve never breathed in my sleep. I cough as I keep my right eye open, just to look around. Or maybe a part of me thinks it’ll help me fight off something I don’t even know. Is there even someone out there? I’m surrounded with tall green trees… Is there someone living here?
I walk around while hugging myself. I’m afraid and while I don’t remember anything, I still get the feeling someone’s watching me. Is it from the trees? That’s funny, since when do trees have eyes? HOLY .
I stare back at the huge eye in front of me. It isn’t the usual human eye. It is all black and filled with malice. And it’s looking back at me. I don’t move, afraid that if I do, it’ll kill me. I just get the feeling from it.
I try to breathe calmly and avert my eyes from it. Maybe if I’m not looking back, it’ll look away… Fortunately, the tree looks away and I take that as a chance to run away. Why do I feel a sense of deja vu with running? Was I running in my sleep?
I stop when I got to the clearing. Did the tree follow me? I turn back to check. I slow my breathing, just so I could hear well. Nothing… I let out a sigh of relief and drop to my knees. I dip my hands into the water and splash my face with it to somehow wake me up from this nightmare. Just a hopeless thought…
The water stirs and a few ripples form as water drops from my hands. I stare at it until I can see a face emerging out from the once still river. I back away, of course, why wouldn’t I? I stretch my hands in search for something to throw at the penetrator. Anything… Unfortunately, there are no rocks nearby and I quickly got to my feet, ready to run just in case it chases after me.
It turns out to be a woman, skin as white as snow and her hair, as odd as whoever she is, isn’t wet. In fact, it looks alive.
