From the small yet deep slash it flowed.

A stinging sensation coursed throughout her body from her left wrist but she didn’t mind.

Before, a small and shallow cut would’ve been enough but now, she needed more.

Drip, Drop.
And so again, the treacherous blade slashed against her already scarred wrist.
She let out a silent cry but the pain was the only thing she had left; she’s not going to let the pain go.

Drip, Drop.
She smiled. Her blood had always been a great distraction.

Drip, Drop.
It made her forget the mother who left her two years ago.

Drip, Drop.
Blood made her forget about how her father would hit her. Bruise her. Abuse her.

Drip, Drop.
She wasn’t thinking about those bullies.

Drip, Drop.
She didn’t think anymore about how her ‘friends’ left her.

Drip, Drop.
She forgot how her past boyfriend broke up with her.

Drip, Drop.
The blood, her blood, made her forget how unimportant she was.
And so, she genuinely smiled.

Not until reality crashed back to her and awoke her from her small fantasies called forgetting.
