“Red tinsel, are you serious right now?”

“But red is-”

“Sehun, good gracious child. How many times do I have to tell you? We’re going for a Frozen theme this year for the Christmas party, and red definitely does not go with blue, white or silver.” Baekhyun shakes his head and pulls the tinsel out from the trolley. Sehun watches begrudgingly as the elder places it back on the rack with all the other brightly coloured tinsels and huffs disapprovingly. “I thought you knew, didn’t Lu Han or Chanyeol tell you anything?”

Sehun shoots Baekhyun a look as he follows behind the elder, pushing the trolley slowly as Baekhyun stops to look at decorations every so often. “Do you really think they’d tell me anything, Baek? You know them well enough to know that they won’t. All they’ve been doing lately is hanging up mistletoe wherever they know Junmyeon and Yixing will walk under. They think they’re like Christmas cupids or something. I don’t even think they’ve bought their presents for Secret Santa yet.”

Baekhyun abruptly halts in front of Sehun and the trolley, causing Sehun to swerve to the left to avoid ramming into the elder, and he narrowly misses a pyramid of present boxes stacked up to look like a Christmas tree. “Oh, flippity flap!” Baekhyun exclaims, flailing his arms and darting about. “I totally forgot about that! Have you got yours yet?! I haven’t, when does Junmyeon want us to have them by? It’s already the 22nd, right? Oh, fiddle sticks!”

Sehun is still recovering from the almost accident by the time Baekhyun calms down and throws a bunch of random decorations from the nearby discount bin into their trolley. Sehun looks at Baekhyun amusedly. “Oh, don’t look at me like that. I still need to get my Secret Santa gift, and I won’t have enough if I don’t buy cheap monkey-pants tree decorations.”

“Hyung, calm down.” Sehun wrinkles his nose watches as Baekhyun picks up a headless Santa Claus ornament, shrugs, and tosses it into the trolley along with a Rudolph ornament with his missing red nose and stacks and stacks of ugly coloured glitter baubles. “Do we really need this much though?”

Baekhyun hums as he tosses the finale, a giant sausage dog plush toy into the trolley. “That should do… and of course we do! This is the season for sharing, and giving! Now all we need are some fairy lights and snack foods. Can you go and pick some up? You can head back without me, I won’t be too long!” Baekhyun hands Sehun some crumpled money from his pocket before saying a brief goodbye and taking off towards the exit. “Don’t forget Chanyeol’s not allowed to have…”

“Allowed to have what?” Sehun hollers after Baekhyun, but it’s too late, the elder male had already disappeared out of the store. Sehun shrugs his shoulders, and begins heading towards the section of the store where the fairy lights were. It shouldn’t be that important - Chanyeol is a grown man, right? He should know how to look after himself… right?

~

Apparently Chanyeol did not know how to look after himself, judging by the pitiful sounds of the taller male whining in the bathroom to a giggly Lu Han standing outside the door.

“-but it was so good!” Chanyeol whines in before retching and throwing up. There’s a brief moment of what sounds like ugly sobbing, before: “Lu Haaaaaaaan, why didn’t you stop me~?”

“You know well enough you’re lactose intolerant, Chanyeol.” Lu Han teases, taping a mistletoe above the doorframe to the bathroom. “How could I stop you when you were scoffing that salted caramel ice-cream down like a ravenous wolf?”

“Sehun bought it!” comes Chanyeol’s response. Junmyeon, who had been busy signing their yearly Christmas cards, looks up from writing and gives Sehun a disapproving look.

“How could you?” he mouths, shaking his head like a disappointed father, and he quite looks like one with those horrendously ugly glasses sitting on the bridge of his nose.

Sehun surprisingly feels somewhat guilty. Damn, Junmyeon, and your fatherly ways he curses to himself. “I, uh, didn’t realise Chanyeol would scoff it down the moment I took it out of the plastic bag.”

“Didn’t Baekhyun tell you not to get ice-cream, or anything sweet… and milky?”

“Well… he did say something along the lines of Chanyeol’s not allowed to have something. I didn’t hear the rest, though.”

Junmyeon shakes his head again before returning to signing the Christmas cards, and Sehun feels even worse. Great, now Chanyeol was going to be whiney for the rest of night. Could anything else go wrong?

~

Sehun thinks that he should really stop assuming things, because whenever he assumes something, they seem to go wrong.

“What the hell is this, Sehun?” Jongdae flings the headless Santa at Sehun, narrowly avoiding Junmyeon, who was pulling out a string of cyan tinsel from the plastic bag Sehun had shoved the decorations into. The headless Santa ornament passes by Sehun and clatters on the wooden floorboards, spinning a few times before stopping by Lu Han’s slipper clad feet.

“Hey, did you get this from the store down the road?” Lu Han exclaims, picking up the ornament and staring at it fondly. “I think this is the one Chanyeol stood on.”

“Oh, I remember that!” Chanyeol jumps out from the kitchen with a mug of lemon tea, looking a hundred times better than when he had consumed ice cream an hour ago. “Well, look at that, you guys bought it!”

“Why would they sell something like that…” Jongdae questions, bending down to pick up another decoration out of the box. He splutters slightly at the ornament he pulls out. “And this… What the hell, was this supposed to be Rudolph or something? I can make out a speck of red on the snapped tip here.”

Sehun ignores Jongdae and continues cutting triangular shapes from the piece of folded paper in his hands to form a snowflake… just like what he used to do in elementary school. Sehun questions Junmyeon’s orders, and wonders if the elder male liked to treat him like a child on purpose.

Suddenly the door flings open and in shuffles Baekhyun, looking tiny bundled up in Kyungsoo’s long black coat (Baekhyun is lucky Kyungsoo isn’t here to see) and a thick cream coloured woollen scarf. “Woo, it’s cold outside!” Baekhyun exclaims, shutting the apartment door behind him and shuffling in. He brushes the flecks of snow off his thick coat and beams up at everyone. “Sorry for taking so long! I couldn’t decide on what to get as a present.”

Junmyeon clicks his tongue at Baekhyun, before taping down one end of the tinsel on the corner of the room. “You’re late with gifts, as usual. Hurry up and go hide your present in with the rest of them in the garbage bag in the kitchen.”

There’s an awkward pause of silence, before Chanyeol is breaking it, staring at Junmyeon with large, worried and slightly fearful eyes. “Y-You don’t mean the garbage bag by the kitchen counter do you…”

“The one with the red ribbon tied around it?” Lu Han adds, looking just as worried as Chanyeol.

Junmyeon turns around slowly, fists clenched as he glares at the two offending males. He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. “What-” he exhales, nostrils flaring like an angry bulls’. “-the hell did you guys do?”

The two share a brief look at each other before they’re both jumping up off the couch and yelling “THE GARBAGE BIN!” and they’re taking off, running past a confused Baekhyun and out the front door, still dressed in their pyjamas and slippers.

Junmyeon isn’t too far behind, running after the two with his fist in the air and yelling, “You goddamn imbeciles!” leaving an amused Jongdae, Sehun and Baekhyun behind.

“Man, and I spent a total of $5 on Lu Han’s present.” Jongdae laughs, placing a glittery green bauble on the 7ft Christmas tree sitting by the fireplace. “Could’ve bought two and a half cheeseburgers with that.”

“I don’t think you can buy half a cheeseburger.” Baekhyun comments, pulling off his coat and placing it meticulously back on the coat rack where Kyungsoo had left it, taking time to make sure every crease and crinkle was straightened out. “And what kind of cheapo are you? You spent the minimum amount.”

“When you have someone like me giving you any kind of gift, it’s worth it.”

Baekhyun shakes his head at Jongdae and chuckles. Sehun feels his heart rate pick up when Baekhyun inches closer to him, bending down slightly at the table to look at the paper snowflake masterpieces he had been working on for the last forty minutes. “Ah, they look good Sehunnie~” Baekhyun praises, picking up a sparkly blue one and flipping it in his beautiful talon-like fingers. “They’re really pretty.”

Yeah, just like you. Sehun wants to say, but he just smiles a shy smile instead and thanks Baekhyun with a tiny “Thanks, hyung.” He hopes to God Baekhyun doesn’t notice the blush that had bloomed across his cheeks. If Baekhyun had noticed though, he doesn’t say anything as he looks around the room, spinning the paper snowflake in between his oh-so-pretty fingers.

“The place looks good, though. Tree looks-” Baekhyun stops, pausing to stare at the tree. “Jongdae, what’s that on top of the tree?” He places the paper snowflake back down on the table before quickly striding to the Christmas tree and looking at it like it was a priceless piece of art. He nods his head, fluffy hair bouncing with his movements. “Well… It certainly looks interesting.”

Jongdae looks smug as he gestures to the topper. “I thought that instead of a boring star or an angel, or whatever, we could have old no-red-nose-Rudolph here as a topper for our Christmas tree this year, considering as we have the ugliest tree known to mankind sitting in our lounge room.”

“It’s not that ugly…” Baekhyun defends, continuing to stare at the tree up and down. “I mean, if you keep looking at it you can definitely see the beauty of it coming through.”

“You’re only saying that because you’re the one who chose the ugly decorations, Baek.” Jongdae replies, shaking his head. He picks through the decoration box and takes out the sausage dog plushie. “I mean, the tinsel was good, and the baubles were okay despite the horrendous colours. But the broken ornaments, and this giant sausage dog plushie? What are we meant to do with this? It’s not even Christmas related!”

“It was 75% off!” Baekhyun exclaims, snatching the plushie away from Jongdae and holding it close to his chest. “If I didn’t get Sehun to buy this, the poor thing would’ve been thrown out with the trash!”

Jongdae scoffs. crossing his arms. “Yeah, and good riddance to it. It’s more uglier than that weird alpaca-dog hybrid toy Kris got as a friend for Ace.”

Baekhyun looks affronted as he gapes at Jongdae and covers the toy plushie’s ears with both hands. “You’re a horrible person!” he exclaims before sticking his tongue out at Jongdae and running to his room. The door slams shut, and Sehun gives Jongdae a withering look.

“What?” Jongdae shrugs when noticing Sehun’s look. He picks up the forgotten headless Santa ornament from the couch and places it smack-bang in the middle of the tree. He nods his head before sitting down on the couch and taking a magazine off the coffee table and flipping it open. “He’ll be right, just give him a hour or so.”

Sometimes, Sehun thinks his role as maknae really isn’t right.

~

“How were we supposed to know?” Lu Han whines, crying out a little as Junmyeon gives a light smack to the side of his head. Sehun cackles evilly, watching his extremely dishevelled hyungs whine and pout whenever Junmyeon would berate them for being careless before giving them a light smack atop of their heads.

“Who puts presents in garbage bags, anyway?” Chanyeol groans, rubbing his head, fingers scraping through damp hair, moist from the snow that had melted in his hair.

“You burnt the bottom of our Santa sack last year.” Junmyeon answers exasperatedly, sighing loudly before taking a seat across from the two males on the dining table. “You probably don’t remember, anyway. You had so much to drink at the party, you thought it’d be funny to see if the Christmas sack would actually fit down the chimney… whilst it was lit.”

“I remember that!” Lu Han laughs, nudging Chanyeol with his shoulder. “The whole house filled with smoke when Kris and Junmyeon put out the fire because the sack was caught halfway down and the smoke had no where to go.”

When Lu Han looks at Junmyeon and sees his face was anything but happy, his face quickly falls and he bows his head, keeping his gaze locked on the wooden table. “Yes, Lu Han. Thanks for your input.” Junmyeon says bitterly. “Anyway, you were lucky the sack was just filled with wrapping paper from the presents at the time though, Chanyeol. But, this year, you and Lu Han have done something so.. so… grinch-y.”

Sehun can’t help but let out a loud snort at Junmyeon’s choice of words from his position on the couch. “Grinch-y? Seriously, hyung?”

“You stay out of this, maknae.” Junmyeon yells. Baekhyun shuffles slightly next to him, head resting on his shoulder as he continues to take a nap. Earlier, Baekhyun had appeared out of his room with an endearing pout on his lips. He had sat next to Jongdae at first, rolling like a burrito in his blanket before nuzzling into Jongdae’s arm. Sehun was jealous to say the least, but when Jongdae had said he needed to take a shower, Sehun was quick to jump into Jongdae’s spot. And now, here they were.

Sehun finds that Baekhyun’s hair smells like Junmyeon’s herbal shampoo (the one that Yixing also coincidentally buys), and usually, Sehun hates the smell of it, but when it was Baekhyun who smelt like it, he finds he doesn’t mind. Baekhyun always smells nice anyway… as creepy as that sounds.

“Can't we just, I don’t know, have no presents this year or something?” Chanyeol suggests, stomping his feet slightly like the overgrown child he is. “Come on, hyung, Lu and I didn’t mean it!”

Jongdae then chooses the time to appear out from the bathroom, clad in only a towel with a toothbrush hanging halfway out of his mouth. “No presents?” he asks, toothpaste foam dribbling out from the corners of his mouth. “What d’ya mean no presents?”

“Chanyeol means-” Junmyeon begins, rolling his eyes, “That he’s going to buy or make everyone gifts with Lu Han here.”

“What?!” Lu Han and Chanyeol both exclaim.

“But-” Chanyeol begins.

“We-” Lu Han tries.

“No but’s, it’s either that or I’ll have to bring the big guns out.” Junmyeon cuts in, taking out his phone from his pocket and waving it in front of the two males threateningly. “Kris is on speed dial number one. I’m sure you guys wouldn’t want to deal with his punishments over mine.”

Sehun can see Chanyeol and Lu Han visibly gulp. Junmyeon smirks slyly and nods his head. “That’s right, now run along you two, you have a lot of presents to begin making and buying. Good luck with trying to find gifts!”

“You can’t be serious!” Lu Han whines, ignoring Chanyeol who was trying to pull the elder up from his seat with his arm. “We barely even make enough to buy everyone gifts.”

“Oh, but I am.” Junmyeon stands up, chair legs screeching against the wooden floor before he checks the time on his phone. “You have approximately 52 hours to buy or make us gifts. Spend your time wisely.”

“Serves you guys right!” Jongdae laughs, ducking when Lu Han throws a bonbon sitting on the table at him. Jongdae flips him the bird before running back to the bathroom. “Make sure you get me something really nice~”

Lu Han scowls before slamming his head into the dining table. Junmyeon winces and Chanyeol cackles. “So, can Jongdae be off this Christmas list this year?”

~

“Sehunnie~ Can you please wear this with me?” Baekhyun asks, smiling mischievously as he holds an identical ugly Christmas sweater to the one he was wearing up towards Sehun.

Sehun is stuck between saying no and running off or bursting out into laughter at at the atrocious thing, but a. Baekhyun is standing in front of the closed door so any chance of Sehun escaping is zero to none, and b. it’s... Baekhyun, so Sehun is really conflicted because he doesn’t want to say no and hurt his hyung’s feelings, but... gosh damn, the thing is so ugly.

“I…” Sehun begins, unable to find something to say. He splutters slightly when Baekhyun clicks a switch somewhere by the sleeve of the blue sweater thing and an annoying high pitched rendition of Jingle Bells begins playing. “Hyung, I-”

“If you say no I’m going to be really sad.” Baekhyun says, pouting. He swings the ugly thing in front of Sehun’s face, humming along to the high pitched Jingle Bells that Sehun would do anything to stop because Jesus Christ, if that sound isn’t the most annoying thing he has heard all day, then he doesn’t know what is. “Just wear it, pleaaaaase?”

“Why can’t you ask Yeol?” Sehun tries, backing up when Baekhyun begins taking slow steps towards him. It’s adorable, but Sehun’s really afraid for his life right now.

“Chanyeol is too busy making gifts with Lu Han,” Baekhyun replies, smirking slightly when Sehun’s backs up too far and hits the back of his legs on his bed.

“Hyung, I-I’ll do anything, just don’t make me wear that!” Sehun begs, falling back onto his bed and backpedalling into the wall behind him.

“But Hunnie~” Baekhyun whines. “If you do not wear this I’ll be really, really, really, upset.”

“B-But-”

Any comeback that Sehun had wanted to say dies in his mouth when Baekhyun kneels on the bed in front of him and leans in, his face so close Sehun could almost count all of Baekhyun’s eyelashes. Sehun swallows nervously and his lips, and maybe it was just his imagination but he swears Baekhyun’s eyes had flickered down with the movement.

Sehun can’t hear anything but the thump thump thumping of his heart, the blood rush in his ears and the slow steady breathing of Baekhyun when he begins to lean in closer to Sehun.

“H-Hyung…” Sehun stutters. He knows his face is probably the colour of Chanyeol’s skin when he had forgotten to wear sunscreen that one time at the beach on a 40 degree day. He ended up getting really burnt and when they arrived home, he had cried like a baby when Lu Han slathered buckets of aloe gel on him. Yeah, it was probably just as bad.

“It’s only for the party.” Baekhyun tries, and oh, Baekhyun’s breath smells like tutti frutti bubblegum, and Sehun, for a fleeting moment, wonders if Baekhyun’s lips tasted as sweet as his breath smells. And that certainly wasn’t a weird thought, not at all.

Sehun is amidst having a mental breakdown because Baekhyun faces is inches away from his, and Baekhyun wasn’t moving at all, and oh my God if he didn’t slow down his heartbeat he’s sure to have a heart attack, when his bedroom door suddenly slams open with a loud bang! and a dishevelled Chanyeol walks in.

“Hey man, do you think I could buy that sausage dog.. plushie.. off you…” Chanyeol trails off on his sentence when he notices Sehun and Baekhyun’s compromising position. Sehun looks between Baekhyun and Chanyeol, Chanyeol stares, Baekhyun smirks at Chanyeol but doesn’t make a move. The muffled sounds of Jingle Bells is all that can be heard from the atrocious sweater Baekhyun is holding. “Oh! Uh… Am I interrupting something?”

“No, no no!” Sehun splutters, pushing Baekhyun and that ugly sweater off him. Baekhyun lands on the carpeted floor with a loud thud and Sehun winces.

Chanyeol lifts an eyebrow curiously and clears his throat. “Ah, well… in that case then,” he says, looking at Baekhyun groaning on the ground before snickering, “I was wondering if I could buy that sausage dog plushie off you. I don’t know what to get Kris, so I thought why not gift him a friend for Ace!”

“Sure man-” Baekhyun starts, only to be interrupted by an excited Chanyeol who was pulling his wallet out from his back pocket.

“Thanks so much, Baek! I only have five-”

“For twenty.”

“-dollars… Wait, what?!”

Baekhyun sits up and rubs the back of his head, glaring at Sehun before turning his attention back to Chanyeol. “Listen. There’s a thing called profit-”

“But I only bought it for three dollars…” Sehun tries, wincing at the kicked-puppy face Chanyeol was pulling. He doesn’t know how Baekhyun does it, being able to build a wall of steel around his heart whenever Chanyeol would pull that face. It was like saying no to a puppy that wanted to play.

“-and how do you expect a man to live if not selling things for more than what they bought it for?” Baekhyun finishes, clicking the annoying Jingle Bells song off and causing the room to suddenly plummet into an awkward silence.

“Hyung, don’t you think that’s a bit… overpriced?”

“It’s either twenty or nothing.”

“I wouldn’t even pay ten for that…” Chanyeol mutters. He slips his wallet back into his pocket and hangs his head low. “I-I guess I’m just going to have to get murdered by Kris…” he continues, turning around and taking a couple of steps out of the room before stopping and looking over his shoulder with the most saddest expression known to mankind. He then proceeds to turn back around before taking a couple more steps. “I thought you’d understand.”

When Chanyeol finally, finally disappears around the corner, Baekhyun eerily turns his head towards Sehun and beams. Sehun shuffles uncomfortably on his bed. “So… about this Christmas sweater.”

~

“We have to get that plushie.” Lu Han growls, stabbing his fork into his pasta with such ferocity Chanyeol is taken aback for a second before he’s nodding his head and agreeing with his hyung.

“Y-Yeah… We need to obtain it at any cost!” Chanyeol exclaims, lifting his fork in the air triumphantly before a weird look flitters across his face and he adds: “Without paying more than five dollars for it.”

Jongdae watches amusedly as Lu Han and Chanyeol tune out the world and drown themselves in a deep conversation about planning out what they were going to have to do to obtain the plushie.

“-so when he finds Sehun’s sock that’s when we go guns-a-blazing into Baek’s room.” Chanyeol draws an imaginary map on the table with his finger, using salt and pepper shakers as props.

“Hm… Don’t you think it’d be better off it we’re stealthy?” Lu Han suggests, pulling the salt and pepper shakers away and hiding them behind his glass of Coke.

Chanyeol looks to be contemplating this, before he’s agreeing. “Alright, so then we’ll do everything the same but instead of putting shaving cream on Junmyeon’s bed we put it on Sehun’s.”

Lu Han’s eyes light up as a wide smile takes over his face. It’s quite endearing, really (Lu Han is definitely cute but it’s also kind of creepy because his jaw does this thing where it looks like it’s dislocated). Jongdae allows a knowing smirk to grace his lips when he notices the faintest blush blooming on Chanyeol’s cheeks and how the tips of his ears were a lot pinker than what they were earlier. Cute.

“This is perfect.” Lu Han exclaims, bouncing his chair.

“You’re perfect…” Chanyeol sighs before realising what he had said. He clears his throat and looks away from Lu Han, returning to awkwardly twirling his spaghetti on his fork. “I-I mean…”

Lu Han smiles faintly, returning to his food and whispering a: “Mission: Big Bad Plushie is a go.”

Jongdae picks up his empty bowl off the table and stands up, winking at Chanyeol when they make eye contact. “Go get’em tiger!” he whispers, motioning his head towards Lu Han who was too busy looking anywhere besides at the giant next to him. Chanyeol’s face is glowing a bright pink by the time Jongdae exits the room and enters the kitchen with a busy Junmyeon washing the dishes, muttering under his breath about how nobody ever helped him here even though he’s paying most of the rent.

“What’s gotten you all smiley?” Junmyeon asks warily as Jongdae places his bowl into the sink.

Jongdae smiles even wider and taps Junmyeon on his nose. “Oh, don’t you love Christmas time, Junmoney?”

“Junmoney?” Junmyeon asks, confused.

Jongdae just snickers and shrugs his shoulders. “Don’t you worry, old man. Yixing will notice your affections one day. He’s just a bit slow, you know that.”

And for the second time in less than five minutes, he has already gotten two people glowing a pretty shade of pink. Ah, Christmas time, when love blooms and Jongdae can be a secret matchmaker.

~

“An hour until everyone arrives!” Junmyeon exclaims, running about the place like a headless chook as he checks everything twice, before rechecking them again. “Sehun! There needs to be more snowflakes taped here, Chanyeol, Lu Han, please put all of the presents down by the tree and Jongdae, please, please behave yourself. We don’t want another incident like what happened last year.”

Jongdae, sitting as calm as ever on the couch, flips a page of his magazine and shrugs. “Hey man, that cat was looking for a bad time.”

Sehun is amidst taping a giant silver snowflake on the wall when he’s pulled by the back of his collar and dragged into the kitchen. When he turns around to see his perpetrator, he’s met by Baekhyun’s charming eye smile and suddenly his resolve melts like ice-cream on a hot day.

“H-Hi hyung. I thought you went to go pick up Kyungsoo.” Sehun stutters awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck as he eyes the thing in Baekhyun’s hands. Oh God, no-

“Put this on, quick!” Baekhyun exclaims, hands suddenly at the hem of Sehun’s “sorry, I only date models.” shirt gifted to him by Chanyeol last year, and suddenly he’s shirtless and wow, this got awkward really quickly.

“Hyung!” he squeaks, covering his man chest with his arms. Very manly of him.

“No Sehunnie, you’re wearing this with me and that’s that.”

“But-”

“Either that or you’re going to have nothing to wear.” Baekhyun says, holding out the sweater and hiding Sehun’s shirt behind his back.

“You aren’t even wearing yours, though!” and Sehun sounds way too whiney in front of Baekhyun, so he clears his throat and tries again, with a deeper, much manlier voice. “You’re not wearing yours.”

“I promise I’ll put it on later, just wear it for now.”

~

“Wow, what the hell is that?” Jongdae guffaws when Sehun begrudgingly walks out of the kitchen with a chirpy Baekhyun following behind him.

“Don’t talk to me.”

“Don’t be rude, Sehun-” Junmyeon turns around from placing peoples names on the dining table and when noticing Sehun, attempts to keep a smile from breaking out on his face. It’s a bit of an ugly face because Junmyeon is known to pull really ugly faces without realising it. Especially when he sings whilst drunk. “Ah… N-Nice sweater, Sehun.”

“I hate all of you.” Sehun mutters, kicking Jongdae’s leg as he takes a seat on the couch besides the male.

“Hey,” Jongdae begins, smiling at Sehun. “At least the blue brings out the colour in your eyes.”

Sehun is confused for a second, because a. “My eyes are brown.” and b. Jongdae never compliments him.

Jongdae cackles loudly and slaps his knee, before looking back at Sehun and wiping an imaginary tear from his eye. “That’s the joke.” He laughs, playfully punching Sehun in the arm. “That thing is ugly.

Sehun is about to punch Jongdae in the face, or maybe slap him in the face multiple times when a loud “GODDAMMIT CHANYEOL YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO PUT IT ON SEHUN’S BED NOT JUNMYEON’S!” resonates throughout the house and suddenly everyone is running towards the source of the noise.

They find Chanyeol scratching the back of his head sheepishly as Lu Han tries his best to hide the gigantic pile of shaving cream on Junmyeon’s bed by jumping onto the thing and laughing awkwardly. “Ah ha ah aha ha, oh hey guys, what’s up?” Lu Han says casually as he tries his best not to cringe. “Comfy bed, Junnie~”

Junmyeon facepalms and shakes his head. “I’m really not in the mood to look after overgrown children today.”

~

By the time Lu Han and Chanyeol have finished cleaning up Junmyeon’s bed, and everything has been done and dusted, it’s already 5:00pm and the guests were due any minute now.

“Did you guys manage to make everyone presents?” Junmyeon asks, counting the presents underneath the Christmas tree before stopping, recounting the gifts again, and rubbing his temples with his fingers. “Guys.. there’s only 8.”

“Well we’re not in it of course, and we’ve had a bit of an issue with… Kris’s present.” Lu Han begins, pushing back his sweaty bangs from his head with his hand.

“What do you mean ‘an issue’?” Junmyeon replies, looking just about ready to drop kick the two males.

“Don’t worry, hyung!” Chanyeol exclaims with a tight-lipped smile. “We’re on it!”

Chanyeol salutes Junmyeon before grabbing Lu Han’s arm and pulling the elder after him and into the hallway. He swears he hears Chanyeol whisper to Lu Han: “Mission Big Bad Plushie, attempt 2 is a go.

“A bit odd, aren’t they?” A familiar voice drawls, and Junmyeon feels his skin prickling with goosebumps. He turns around to see Yixing, looking as handsome as ever in… is that an elf costume?

“Uh… Y-Yeah.” Junmyeon replies, looking Yixing up and down. An elf costume.

“You look great, I like your hair dark.” Yixing compliments, tucking a stray strand of hair behind Junmyeon’s ear. “Makes you look cute.”

“I, uh, I like your e-elf… ears.” Junmyeon replies dumbly, fighting an urge to facepalm himself when Yixing laughs to his embarrassment.

“Thanks. I bought them discounted.”

“Yixing, you can’t just tell people you buy things at a discounted price.” Zitao exclaims, popping up out of nowhere and slinging an arm around Yixing’s shoulders. He fixes his designer sunglasses (who wears sunglasses in winter and indoors) and smiles. “You need to make people think you’re rich.”

“Zitao.” Junmyeon greets, bowing his head down slightly. “Nice of you to join us. Where’s Kris?”

Zitao shrugs and gestures towards the kitchen. “I think he and Kyungsoo are like ing back there or something.”

Junmyeon looks horrified, looking back between the kitchen door and Yixing, before he’s exclaiming: “My cannolis!” and taking off towards the kitchen.

“Man, you just ed Junmoney!” Jongdae cries when Junmyeon pushes the kitchen door open and screeches. A muffled yell of “Kyungsoo, stop! My beautiful cannolis!”  is all that’s heard before the kitchen door shuts with a slam.

“What are they doing in there?” Yixing asks, oblivious to what Jongdae had just said.

“Ah, I think Kyungsoo said something about Junmyeon’s desserts being nothing compared to his. Must’ve thrown them in the trash to replace them with his.” Zitao replies nonchalantly, playing with his perfectly manicured nails.

“Poor Junmyeon, he tried so hard to please Kyungsoo this year with his dessert skills.” Jongdae says sorrowfully, shaking his head before his expression changes completely into an elated, giant grin. “Oh well! You can’t really say no to Kyungsoo’s famous fruit cakes.”

“True that, brother.” Zitao nods, fist bumping with Jongdae.

“Nice costume, by the way Xing.” Jongdae smiles, flicking the fake elf ears. He then leans in and whispers into Yixing’s ear -his actual ear-: “Junmyeon likes pretty men in costumes when it comes to the bedroom, if you know what I mean.”

Jongdae pulls back and winks, causing Yixing to suddenly become a bright shade of red. “I… Excuse me.” Yixing says, pulling Zitao’s arm off his shoulders and casually walking away.

Zitao watches curiously as Yixing disappears behind a curtain and remains there unmoving. “You scared him again, didn’t you?”

“No, brother. I just told him the truth.”

“You know he probably won’t come out from behind there for a while?”

“Yeah. I know.”

“You’re a terrible person.”

“I know.”

“Let’s have a drink.”

~

“So. I’m just going to ignore the ugly couple sweaters you two are wearing, and I’m just going to be blunt about it and ask; are you guys finally ing?” Jongin asks, loudly slurping his hot chocolate and resting his candycane-striped socked feet on the coffee table in front of them.

“No!” Sehun and Baekhyun both exclaim, flailing their arms about.

“I-I wouldn’t with…”

“Yeah, Hunnie’s like my best friend.”

“Hm, sure.” Jongin shrugs, nodding his head and smacking his lips together. “So, you’re both totally not blushing right now are you?”

“J-Jongin, shut up man.” Sehun scowls, kicking Jongin’s feet off the coffee table.

“Well, I’m just going to disappear for a bit. You two make me want to puke sometimes.” Jongin sighs, standing up and stretching before walking away and slinking in next to Minseok who was sitting at the dining table with two bottles of wine besides him.

Minutes pass by, and there’s this awkward kind of tension hanging in between the two. Sehun’s trying his best not to make eye contact with Baekhyun, instead choosing to watch Junmyeon try to coax Yixing out from behind the curtains. Jongdae must’ve freaked him out again.

“Poor Xing.” Baekhyun says suddenly, startling Sehun enough for him to jump in his seat. Baekhyun an eyebrow and giggles. “Didn’t mean to startle you there, Sehun.”

“You didn’t startle me.” Sehun tries to say coolly, but his voice is shakey and their thighs are touching and Baekhyun feels so warm and gosh darn it, why is Baekhyun so perfect.

“Right…” Baekhyun laughs, nudging Sehun’s arm with his shoulder. “Oh, I forgot to ask, who did you have as your Secret Santa?”

“It’s called Secret Santa for a reason, hyung.” Sehun smiles, despite his heart beating a billion times a minute inside of his chest. It was like a ticking time bomb, counting down until it explodes.

“Oh, come on Hunnie! I’ll tell you who mine is!” Baekhyun pouts, and again, Sehun’s resolve begins melting.

“Ah, okay. But you tell me yours first.”

“You.” Baekhyun replies, shrugging his shoulders. He lifts his feet up when Chanyeol comes by, looking extremely embarrassed and dishevelled with a smug looking Lu Han towing behind. Baekhyun watches them throw a terribly wrapped present under the tree with a raised eyebrow.

“Wait, hyung. You had me?”

Baekhyun tears his gaze away from Lu Han and Chanyeol doing some sort of happy dance by the fireplace to look at Sehun and nod. “Yeah, do you want your present now?”

“Shouldn’t we wait for everybody to exchange gifts, though?”

“Really, Hunnie? Dumb and dumber over there have made most of the presents to make up for throwing everyones gifts away, so, I don’t think it should really matter.” Baekhyun stands up and takes Sehun’s hand in his. Has Baekhyun’s hand always been this soft? Sehun finds himself thinking as he is pulled up by the elder male. “Come on, I’ll take you there. It’s outside.”

Sehun nods his head, too far into revelling in the touch of Baekhyun’s hands in his to realise Baekhyun had said outside, in minus degree weather. But it isn’t long when Sehun finds himself out on the front porch with Baekhyun, still hand in hand. They don’t say anything for a while, too immersed in watching small flecks of snow fall lazily from the sky, the brightly coloured flashing of Christmas lights from across the street. Mr. Nam always decorated his house for Christmas every year, and this year he seems to have gone overboard by adding Christmas lights to his car. Mr. Nam is a bit weird.

Sehun can’t feel his fingers, or his toes, or the tip of his nose. All he can feel is Baekhyun’s presence pulling him in like a magnet, warming his body and causing his heart to bloom in affection when Baekhyun sneezes. It’s really cute, but he hopes Baekhyun isn’t getting sick.

“I hope you’re not getting sick.” Sehun mutters, and in a of courage, he takes Baekhyun’s face in his free hand and the pad of his thumb down Baekhyun’s cheek. Baekhyun seems to have frozen up, face burning a tiny bit when Sehun finally realises what he’s doing and abruptedly pulls his hand away and smiles awkwardly. “Uh, sorry.”

“You’re so dumb, Sehunnie.” Baekhyun sighs shaking his head, and before Sehun had a chance to do or say anything, Baekhyun’s arms are around his neck, and he’s tippy toe-ing up to give Sehun a kiss.

And then it’s like the world is slowing down, because all Sehun can think about is how soft Baekhyun’s lips are, how they tasted like the cherry lip balm he’s always using, how Baekhyun elicits a small gasp when Sehun takes the reins and slips his tongue into Baekhyun’s pliant mouth. They kiss with so much fervour Sehun can feel his head spinning because God knows how long Sehun had wanted to kiss Baekhyun, and now that he finally is, he feels like his year has just been made.

Baekhyun pulls away first, looking extremely embarrassed as he takes a step back and blushes. “Merry Christmas, Sehun.” Baekhyun whispers, taking Sehun’s hand into his again. “I really wanted to get you something special for Christmas, but I couldn’t find the right thing.”

Sehun can’t stop smiling. Baekhyun just kissed him, and his lips still tastes like Baekhyun’s cherry flavoured lip balm. Heck, it didn’t matter if Sehun had gotten a lump of coal from Baekhyun for Christmas, because really, getting a kiss from his favourite hyung is enough to last him forever. “You being here with me is all I need.” Sehun says, and yeah, it’s pretty ing sappy, but it’s true and Baekhyun has totally stolen his heart so he’d be damned if he wasn’t the most sappiest person on this planet right now.

“You’re gross.” Baekhyun says before he’s tippy toe-ing and taking Sehun’s lips in his again. “But I love you.”

“I love you too, hyung.”

Bonus Chanlu:

“Lu Han, are you sure we should be doing this? Someone could come by any minute now.” Chanyeol says worriedly, looking out the door every so often to make sure the coast remained clear.

Lu Han hums, crawling down deeper under the bed before he’s exclaiming. “Chanyeol. I got it!”

Chanyeol jumps up and down excitedly. “Great! Come on, we’ve got to wrap it before somebody comes!”

“Okay, okay. Just hold on.” Lu Han replies. Chanyeol looks everywhere but at Lu Han who had his bottom perched up high in the air as he tries to wriggle out from underneath Baekhyun’s bed, but after a couple of minutes and no movement later, Chanyeol becomes worried.

“Lu… Are you okay?” Chanyeol asks, getting on his hands and knees besides Lu Han and looking under the bed.

“Y-Yeah, I’m just….” Lu Han trails off.

“What?”

“I’m… I’m stuck.”

Chanyeol tries not to laugh, he really does, but after realising the ridiculousness of this situation he can’t help but let out a loud snort. “Are you serious?”

“Yes! Help me out you big oaf!” Lu Han replies, kicking his legs.

“Okay, hyung. Just-” Chanyeol takes a hold of Lu Han’s legs and pulls, but the elder male doesn’t budge from out beneath the bed. “I- Hmm.”

“Chanyeol if you don’t hurry now, I swear to God when I get out I’m going to step on you.” Lu Han whines impatiently, kicking his legs even more in Chanyeol’s grasp.

Chanyeol contemplates his options. Either a. he can take a hold of Lu Han’s thighs and pull him out but that seems a little too inappropriate, or b. he can lift the bed up but the problem is, despite his height Chanyeol wasn’t all that strong. So he goes for option c. pull at Lu Han’s waist until the elder popped out.

“Alright, on the count of three I’m going to try tugging you out.” Chanyeol stands over Lu Han with his hands grasped around the elders waist, his feet on either side of Lu Han’s body. “One… Two… Three!”

After an awkward minute of tugging and Lu Han giggling and exclaiming a “Oh my God, Yeol, that tickles!” Chanyeol finally succeeds, pulling out a dusty Lu Han grasping the sausage dog plushie in hand. Lu Han turns on his back and laughs. Chanyeol laughs along because whenever Lu Han is happy, it automatically makes him happy as well.

Their laughter dies down after a minute, and suddenly they’re both staring at each other. Lu Han breathing heavily, breathless from laughing so hard, and Chanyeol still standing over Lu Han’s body with his hands still grasped around Lu Han’s waist. Something flickers in Lu Han’s eyes and before Chanyeol knows it, Lu Han is pulling Chanyeol down on top of him and clashing their lips together.

The kiss has too much teeth and tongue, and maybe Chanyeol might’ve accidentally bitten Lu Han’s bottom lip a bit too hard, but even so, the kiss is perfect.

“Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you to kiss me?” Lu Han breathes when they pull apart. Chanyeol blushes and tries to get up, but fails when Lu Han wraps his arms tighter around his body. “Too long. Way too long. So I thought I might as well make the move first.”

“I…” Chanyeol begins, but he doesn’t know what to say because he can actually feel Lu Han’s heart beating as fast as his against his chest.

“Let’s just make out a bit longer.” Lu Han suggests. “The gift can wait.”

“O-Okay.” Chanyeol stutters. They’re about to kiss again when they’re interrupted with a loud screech sounding distinctly like Junmyeon’s before a “Kyungsoo, stop! My beautiful cannolis!

“Poor Junmyeon.” Lu Han mutters, laughing softly before taking Chanyeol’s lips in his again. This time the kiss is much sweeter, much softer than the one earlier, and Chanyeol thinks that maybe, just maybe he could do this with Lu Han forever.

“Merry Christmas, Yeol.”

“Merry Christmas, Lu."
