Your Dream

(Hello everyone! <3 I hope you all had a Happy Hanukkuh/Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I know it's late ; U ; I wanted to thank the 10 subscribers :D You guys rock! Enjoy Chapter 5)

It was just another cold and gloomy looking day when I received another text from Himchan. He had apologized hundreds of times already, wanting to excuse Yongguk’s behavior. Technically, Yongguk didn’t do anything, but I let Himchan apologize because no matter what I said to him, he still did it. I read his text:

“Hey! Do you want to meet at your favorite coffee shop? You know, the one where we first met?”

I couldn’t help but blush a tiny bit. He made it seem so important that we met. However, I responded with a yes and made my way over, trudging through the snow on my way there.

As I walked, I couldn’t help but think that meeting with an idol countless times would get me in some sort of trouble. I mean, they aren’t really free to do as they please without the permission of their company, that’s just common sense. How many idols nowadays date whomever they want?

I entered the coffee shop and smiled softly at Min Jong as he greeted me with his bubbly personality. “Vanilla?” he asked, grabbing a mug immediately. I nodded and went to my regular seat in the back next to the window. My mind had been wandering to possible scenarios and I hadn’t even taken off my coat. Why did Himchan want to see me today? What was the occasion? What would we talk about?

“You seem distracted __________,” Min Jong said, passing me my vanilla latte. I grew flustered and removed my coat, looking at him, “I’m sorry.” He laughed, his pearly whites in view, “Don’t be sorry. You did nothing wrong. I just worry about you. You’re a good friend.” “Thanks…” I grabbed the handle of the mug and sipped the hot drink. He had left me be because the line was getting long.

The door had swung open and the cold air had swept the warm coffee shop. Two figures in heavy coats had walked in, scanning the area. I drew my gaze away from them, assuming that Himchan would be coming alone. However, someone had occupied the seat in front of me. I looked up into the brown orbs that stared right at me and I felt different. This wasn’t Himchan. Himchan’s gaze wasn’t this alluring to me and made my stomach do flips. The bottom half of his face was covered by a black mask and he had already ped his coat, revealing a plain black and white shirt. I tore my eyes away from the male sitting in front of me and sipped my vanilla latte.

“Himchan is ordering for us,” the deep voice announced, breaking the semi awkward silence.

I looked back at him with wide eyes as he removed his mask and his lips formed into a small smirk, a twinkle that wasn’t there before now present in his eyes. I blinked quickly as I stared at the man I thought I was still friends with. My emotions couldn’t help but remember everything we went through. That smile was still the same. How could he not remember me?

“What do you want to be when you’re older _______?” the young black haired boy asked me as he bit into his lettuce wrap. My big brown eyes looked at his smiling features, his eye smile was prominent as he chewed his food. I blushed pink and looked down at my own food, which at the moment, was almost gone.

“I want to be…I don’t know. Something that doesn’t involve me being in public,” I said, nodding. His smile turned into a frown, “Aw! That’s no fun!” I laughed loudly, “You know I’m no good around people. You’re my only friend!”

Yongguk pouted and ruffled his head of dark hair, seeming almost irritated with what I had said. “I know, but you are such a wonderful person. I wish more people got to know you,” he said, looking at me. I blushed pink and quickly thought of a way to divert the attention away from me.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” I asked, looking up at the sky. The young boy was no older than 13. His frame was very thin, but he ate more than anyone that I knew. From my peripheral vision, I could tell he was swinging his legs.

“A rapper,” he said confidently. I turned to look at him as I drank my water.

A rapper...

I had all of these memories and the leader of the popular boy group thought of me as any other fan. I nodded after what seemed forever, looking at my warm drink. I looked over at the line and noticed that Himchan was near the end of it. A businessman was in the front, taking forever with his order. It was as if he was ordering one of everything because Min Jong was running around grabbing different pastries.

“I’m sorry,” he said, cradling his large hands. I furrowed my eyebrows, confused and he had noticed. “For acting irrationally yesterday. That’s why I’m here,” he continued, his eyes scanning my face. I shook my head and waved him off, “Don’t worry about it. If anything, I should be sorry. I assumed you were someone dear to me.” I shifted my eyes as I sipped my latte and they landed on his face, noticing his eyes looked a bit sadder than they did previously. He definitely had the same antics as the Yongguk I used to know. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul, and he wore his feelings on his sleeve sometimes. I’m convinced he just didn’t wish to remember me.

I don’t know how I ended up here.

My ‘friends’ dragged me to this underground club that I’d never heard of. Of course, I wasn’t drinking. Is this how people had fun nowadays? Drinking until they absolutely lost all control? What was fun about that? They continued drinking even in this state they were in. Driving was going to be so much fun, note the sarcasm.

Someone was rapping at the moment, a female. I watched the act as everyone intoxicated danced and jumped to the beat. Once she finished, she yelled and only made the crowd louder. The ‘MC’ of the club announced another rapper and my eyes widened.

I saw Yongguk walk on stage with baggy clothing and a hat on, the shadows almost concealing his face. My brown orbs widened and I almost jumped up, but decided to stay where I was. It would be horrible if I just ran up there and yelled at him for leaving me alone. He was the one who decided his dreams and I had to respect that. I couldn’t keep him from what he wanted to do, despite wanting to be selfish.

When he began, my heart raced quickly and I couldn’t help but watch him. He was so relaxed as his voice rang out in the small club. His training was serving him well if this is what he was supposed to be practicing for. Was this part of it?

His lyrics were very deep, evoking imagery tied with emotion that anyone could relate to. He was very rhythmic and his timing was impeccable, his body swaying or bouncing to the beat supplied to him. The crowd was even louder for him than they were for the girl that performed only minutes before.

Once he finished, he couldn’t help but smile slightly, almost relieved that the crowd liked him that much.

“Jepp Blackman everyone!”

That’s right.

Ever since that night at the club, he was a completely changed person, just like his name. He was relatively shy as we grew up. The boy I watched grow and he left me behind in my regular ways, not growing out of my shell. He blossomed into a performer, a person who could influence the world if he was determined enough. And I couldn’t amount to that, I couldn’t catch up.

“Are you alright ________?” Yongguk asked, snapping me out of my trance. I shook my head and looked at him, flashing him a small smile. The twinkle in his eye was back, giving me a soft smile as well.

“So! How are you guys?” Himchan said with a smile, approaching us with two mugs of coffee. We both forced ourselves to look at Himchan.

“I think we’re doing good,” Yongguk said, glancing at me. I felt my pulse accelerate and my hands began to perspire, but I kept my small smile and I nodded slightly, agreeing with his statement.

“We’re good,” I said.
