14. Operation Fluffy Lion

Oh! Are You Late Too?

Chapter Fourteen

A loud snore rumbled from Yoongi's sleeping form as Min and Hoseok stood cross armed over him. She shared a look with Hoseok about to yell at him to get up when Hoseok held his hand up. Min looked at him questioningly, raising an eyebrow. "I got this," Hoseok replied confidently. She shrugged, stepping back to watch him attempt to wake him up.

"OH MY GOD! FIRE! IT'S A FIRE!" Hoseok yelled in Yoongi's ear.

Min couldn’t help but to laugh as he jumped from the bed in shock, pushing Hoseok over in the process. He ran across the room, tripping over his blanket and landing on his face. Still clearly disorientated, he moaned, "Where's the fire?"

Unable to stop herself, Min laughed, her eyes tearing up and her stomach burning from the intensity of her laughter. Hoseok shifted slightly in his position on the floor, groaning, "My back… my back hurts."

Yoongi seemed to realise that they'd rudely awoken him in that moment as he sat up, glaring at them while grumbling "Yah, that's not the only place that'll hurt when I'm done with you." He rose onto his knees before belly flopping Hoseok. Min laughed as she watched them wrestle each other, both of them still in pyjamas, their hair a mess. They seemed like they'd be doing that for a while so Min decided she might as well grab a drink as she waited.

Rolling her eyes, she headed to the kitchen, opening the fridge in search of a drink. There was a lot of beer, which Min wasn't too surprised about. She was pleased to find that there was some fruit juice there, barely used. Feeling bad for the neglect the juice must have faced – lord forbid these boys actually eat anything healthy – she poured it into a glass while simultaneously typing out a text to Taehyung:

Hey, are you okay?

She'd heard about what happened yesterday from his father. Unfortunately, Taehyung hadn't been responding to any of her texts or calls so she wasn't sure what she could do to help. When she'd gotten home, she'd asked Jang Mi – who had been in a terrible mood – but she had also been unable to get through to him. Realising she was still pouring the drink, she gasped, pulling the bottle away just as the glass over filled. Looking around, she grabbed a towel and began drying it.

"Looks like someone is deep in thought today," Yoongi mumbled as he sat on one of the stools – he still seemed pretty sleepy as he rubbed his eyes and his voice was gruff.

"Oh… yeah, sorry," Min replied, taking a long sip of her drink once she was done cleaning.

"Everything okay?" Yoongi asked, surprisingly sounding concerned. Min raised an eyebrow at him in question, wondering what had gotten him in this mood this morning. He shrugged, understanding her look. "What? I need you to be in top form for this morning," he said.

She sighed, "I'm fine, just nervous for the audition." As she said this, she glanced at her phone, disappointed to find that the message had been read and ignored. Yah, Kim Taehyung you're really gonna get it when I find you, she thought, simultaneously annoyed yet worried.

"You sure?"

"Yes!" she snapped, rolling her eyes. Yoongi held his hands up defensively which Min chose to just huff at, looking at the time. "Why don't you get ready? Hand in for producers start at the same time as auditions, which is eight."

Yoongi looked up at the clock, snorting, "Well… it's ten to eight right now."

"My point exactly," she frowned at him, "If we can't make it in time for eight, lets at least get it in for nine."

"What's the point? We have until eight at night?"

"I just wanna get it over with, okay? So just go get dressed and stuff," she ordered.

"Fine," he pulled a face at her before getting up and heading to the bathroom. As he made his way there, he muttered to himself, "Gosh, when I moved out of my last house, I never thought I'd have another woman nagging me to get ready."

Even with his low tone, Min had heard him, sticking her tongue out at is retreating figure. Other woman, she scoffed. She doubted that Yoongi could ever get a girlfriend – let alone live with her. As she drank her drink, she frowned.

"Don't worry, he was talking about his mom," Hoseok explained, sitting in front of her.

She raised her eyebrows, narrowly avoiding a choking fit from her drink. Shaking her head, she stared at her phone, disappointed in Taehyung's lack of response. Sighing, she pulled open a chat between her and Jang Mi, texting:

Have you talked to Taehyung yet?

There was only a couple seconds before a reply. Min wasn't surprised; when she'd left, Jang Mi had been tucked away in bed, scrolling through her phone. That was only half an hour ago and Jang Mi usually stayed tucked in bed for ages before she got up to do stuff. Her response read:

I managed to get a 'fine.' from him if that counts?

Min frowned, texting back:

It's more than me at least, he just read my message and ignored it >_>

Looking up, she saw Hoseok had wandered away and now she was alone. She scrunched her nose up as she looked at Jang Mi's response:

Whoa, so cold of him O.o

There was a few seconds before another text came in:

We've just got to do what we did last time and be there when he's ready for us to be there, I'm pretty sure he's at the hospital right now but when he finishes visiting we can try to cheer him up?

Min nodded to herself, agreeing. Quickly, she replied:

Yeah, we should ambush him with chicken, pizza and meat… wait… does chicken count as meat?

Shaking her head she added:

Never mind, don't answer that

She could imagine Jang Mi snorting as a reply came:

Does chicken count as meat? Kim Minyoung you really know how to make a person laugh

Just as Min started typing a text to defend herself, she received another:

We should go visit her in the hospital as well, I know that this happens often but I can't help but to be worried

Min agreed. She also wanted to go visit her in the hospital, not just for Taehyung but because she also really cared about her. Her text back read:

I agree, we can go tomorrow but for now, it's 'Operation Brighten Tae'

Jang Mi responded quickly:

That mission name …

Min pouted, texting:

YOU .

Jang Mi's reply made her laugh:

I thought I pooped (you know, on parties) ;)

Min snorted, replying:

I got the joke without the brackets you know X_X and you do still poop… you do both

The text back Min got was short and pretty much implied that all that needed to be discussed had been said:

Yeah whatever, text me when you're done with Yoongi and we'll track down Tae and start 'Operation Fluffy Lion'

Min raised her eyebrows, texting:

Fluffy Lion?

The text back took longer than the others, implying that Jang Mi had probably dragged herself out of bed:

That's Taehyung's code name… got a problem?

Min shook her head in disbelief at her friend. And Jang Mi's the 'normal' one, she thought, responding:

Nope and I'll make sure to text ^.^

Yoongi was done half an hour later; Min had filled in the time in by checking on the CD and portfolio they had created. She was pretty proud of what they accomplished – even if the songs needed some extra work, she was sure that they were good. Whether or not they would be picked for the showcase was another story altogether.

"Let's go then," Yoongi said, as he appeared in the studio. Min nodded, grabbing the stuff and her bag from the floor. They didn't talk much on the way there – mostly just bickering back and forth. Min was too nervous to argue with him; a whole boatload of scenarios ran through her head back so when they got to the waiting room, she just felt worse.

They didn't have to audition like the performers, instead meeting with one of the professors about their song. They had to meet in his office but there was a line, so they sat on the empty seats, waiting patiently for their turn. Unable to stay still, Min bounced her knee, tapping her feet on the floor.

"Min," Yoongi murmured, trying to stop her. He was quiet as he didn't want to bother anyone else working. When she didn't stop, he placed his hand on her bouncing knee, looking at her in annoyance.

Min paused, looking at his hand on her knee and then him. Raising an eyebrow, she whispered, "Yah, do you wanna lose your hand?"

"It's irritating," he complained, nodding towards her knee.

"Wait outside then," she hissed, glaring at him.

He raised his eyebrows in surprise at her. She realised she was being overly harsh but she couldn't help it; her nerves were getting the better of her. Sighing, she frowned, pushing his hand off her knee. "Sorry, I'm just really nervous."

"That's okay," Yoongi smiled as friendlily as he could. He must have failed because Min looked at him as if he'd grown a third head. Lips turning down, he asked, "What?"

Min laughed slightly, "Nothing."

"No, what?" Yoongi pushed.

She shrugged, laughing more, "Nothing, it's just… you're smile was so unnatural just now."

He scoffed, shaking his head and looking around. The clock read: 8:50 and he was getting kind of impatient. Min could tell from his clenched jaw and how he was tapping his fingers on his knee. It was equally as annoying as her knee bouncing but she was much more considerate, allowing him to continue. In the waiting room, there were a few people she recognised from class but others seemed completely new to her. She was glad they'd came early as the more the minutes ticked on, the more people arrived. Soon the line was trailing out of the room.

"Next," the receptionist announced, looking at Min and Yoongi. They both looked at each other reassuringly before standing up and making their way to the office. Here we go, Min released a deep breath.

Professor Junhyung was the one deciding on which producers to use. Yoongi hadn't ever been taught by him as he only taught final year students but he couldn't wait until he was. Junhyung really knew how to create a good song – whether ballad or dance track. To his side, Min sat, glancing around in awe at the various awards on the shelf. There were even pictures taken with idols and celebrities.

"So, this portfolio looks interesting," Junhyung told them, flipping through the pages. It was a compilation of the stuff they'd made but in music and also a little about themselves. "I've heard about you," Junhyung said, pointing at Yoongi, "You go by Suga, right?"

Yoongi nodded, wide eyed and surprised that the professor had heard of him. "Yes, sir."

"I haven't heard of you," Junhyung sat back, looking at Min. Yoongi glanced at her from the corner of his eye, he noticed that she looked nervous, gulping anxiously. Junhyung looked back at the portfolio, smiling slightly, "But you have a very impressive list of talents. Four instruments – and not the easiest ones to play as well. How long have you been playing?"

Min responded quickly, "Um, piano for fourteen years, guitar for twelve, violin and cello for ten." Yoongi was surprised. He hadn't actually seen her page on the portfolio – mostly because she refused to allow him – so he hadn't known that she was able to play all those instruments. He had to admit, he was kind of impressed.

Junhyung made a low whistling noise, "Well, I guess we should see how that translates into your music."

Yoongi glanced at Min, giving her a reassuring smile. She returned it as Junhyung slid the CD in, pressing play. The first song was the one they'd first worked on. They'd called it 'Tomorrow' and only included the demo on there. Yoongi had rapped the guide as he was actually a pretty good rapper but they had to enlist the help of Jimin and Jungkook for the singing bits.

Watching Junhyung carefully, Yoongi tried to grasp a feeling from him but he couldn't. The professor sat there, listening intently but not showing a single thing on his face. When the song ended, he stopped the disk, pulling it out.

"Aren't you going to listen to them all?" Yoongi asked.

Junhyung nodded, "Yes but not right now. I have a lot to get through."

Closing his mouth, Yoongi watched as Junhyung placed the disk on a pile of other ones. There were two piles, one of them larger than the other. Their disk had been placed on the smaller pile – which Yoongi wasn't sure was good or not. Min didn't say anything, eyeing the disk anxiously. Before he could ask what each pile was, Junhyung began talking.

"Was that you rapping on the track?" he questioned Yoongi.

Yoongi paused before replying, "Yeah."

"Okay," Junhyung nodded, not saying anything more. Confused, Yoongi looked to Min but she looked equally as puzzled by the current state. When the professor opened his mouth again, Yoongi hoped that he'd explain more – and he technically did but not about the things that Yoongi wanted him to.

"You may go now," he said, looking at the door then back to him, "Results will be posted on the school notice board and the website on Monday at 1pm."

Yoongi and Min nodded, rising from their seats. They bowed before letting themselves out, Yoongi releasing a long breath once out. He noticed the line had grown while they were in there; they had to push through a lot of people to get out. Once they were outside, standing safely in the hall, he looked at Min, hoping she'd say something to lighten the tension. She didn't for a while, staring at a spot in the ground before looking at him.

"How do you think it went?" she asked.

He shrugged, "How am I supposed to know?"

"You're more experienced," Min pouted.

Yoongi snorted, "Yeah but I'm not a mind reader. We won't know how it went until Monday."

Min's pout grew and she stomped angrily on the floor – reminding Yoongi of a toddler. As she did this, he smiled slightly in amusement, appraising her. "That's so long away," she complained, oblivious to Yoongi's amused stare.

He shrugged again, prompting Min to punch him in the shoulder. "Ouch! What was that for?" he frowned at her, taken aback by her sudden violence.

"You keep shrugging," she looked at him with narrowed eyes, "It's irritating."

He snorted, "You keep breathing but you don't hear me complaining."

Min's eyes widened – she looked really offended. opened with shock as she looked at him. Yoongi didn't know what to do, squirming under her gaze. "What?" he rolled his eyes.

She pouted again, "Yah… don't you think that was too harsh."

Yoongi's eyebrows raised in surprise, "Huh?"

Min's eyes filled with tears; he could see them shining in the light. She looked at him, looking really, really upset. "You were implying that you hated the fact I was living," she explained. His mouth opened slightly but he didn’t know what to say. He couldn't handle crying girls and she looked like she was on the verge of a breakdown.

"And we just had an audition," her chin shook, her voice cracking, "My first one and I'm so nervous and now you're saying you want me… DEAD!" She exclaimed the last part, a huge sob coming out of . Covering her face with her hands, he heard sobs coming from her as her body shook.

Yoongi watched wide eyed, internally panicking. He didn’t know what to do in situations like this. People walking past them were starting to give him dirty looks as if it was his fault. It is kind of my fault, he sighed, coming closer to Min. Once close enough, he awkwardly patted her back while coughing. Clearing his throat, he grimaced as he forced his words out, "Come on, Min. Don't cry, you know I didn't mean it."

"You're lying," she mumbled through her hands, still loudly sobbing.

"I'm not," he sighed, then closing his eyes tightly, he spoke through gritted teeth, "I actually… might… quite… enjoy… your… presence."

Min's sobs slowed as she said through her hands, "What?"

"You heard," Yoongi scowled at her.

Another huge cry rocked from Min, surprising him. She bawled loudly, his hand frozen on her back in discomfort. Sighing, he began begging her, "Min, please stop crying."

"How… can… I…. when- when you hate me!" her words were broken by the big breaths she was taken. Yoongi felt immensely guilty. He only ever said that stuff to her because it was fun and he assumed she felt the same too. He never realised that she might take his words to heart.

Sighing, he continued forcing words from himself, "I don't hate you. I actually… I might… you're alright."

"Alright?"

"I… I have fun with you, okay?" he blurted, glaring at the wall.

Min stopped shaking but kept her hands over her face, "Really?"

"Yeah," he muttered, giving up with keeping any semblance of dignity at all. When no sound was made, he noticed that Min had stopped sobbing. It wouldn't have been suspicious if it weren't for the fact that she wasn't heavy breathing or anything. Looking away from the wall, he looked at Min to see that her hands weren't covering her face anymore but instead her lips.

His eyes narrowed as he eyed her. Her eyes weren't red and her cheeks weren't wet at all. Mouth gaping open, he released a huge sigh just as Min burst into a fit of laughter. Her eyes were bright as she bent forward slightly, collapsing with the weight of her laughter. Yoongi just rolled his eyes, feeling like an idiot for falling for it.

"I am so done with you," he sighed, leaving her there laughing. He could still hear her as he walked, her giggles filling the hall.

They slowed down but never stopped, not even when she shouted, "Hey! Where are you going? Don't you wanna hang out and 'have fun'?"

He didn't stop, only speeding up. This only made Min laugh more; when he glanced back, she was leaning against a wall, laughing crazily. He watched her for a second, hair falling in her face and body shaking with chuckles. Her smile lit up the room and he couldn't help but to smile slightly as well.

Wait, what? He grimaced, shaking his head. What kind of thoughts were running through his head right now? Glaring at her, he turned around, continuing in walking away. She's such an idiot, he thought. Then frowning, another thought popped into his head, she's going to hold this against me for ages.

Crap… crappity crap, he groaned, considering the option of changing his name and moving countries. He could go somewhere where no one would find him… like Cradley Heath. Nodding, he decided that was a genius idea. Where can I find cheap plane tickets? Oh, what should my new name be? So many decisions to make.

Author's Note: And sooooo the auditions begin. I actually didn't intend for one audition to take up a whole chapter and the rest won't (hopefully) but here is Min and Yoongi's hand in. Also a little of them being their usual selves. I hope you enjoyed the chapter! Don't forget to drop a comment because I live for them and thanks again ^.^ see you next update!
