none of the other girls were speaking to me (understandable, of course, as they all knew about the shouting match yifei and i got into earlier), but it didn't mean that they've learned how to be quiet over the past couple of years - eavesdropping has never been easier.
"so, how've you been, hana?" juyeong said. "you still dating that jibin kid?"
"how did you know about that?!" hana said, surprise etched all over her face.
"kim sohyun," juyeong said, clapping her hands in excitemeny. "i was in a girl who sees smells, remember?"
"aish, that's right..." hana said, slumping in her seat. "well, the company said it was ok as long as we were never seen in public together... and besides, he's away on his military service."
"ooh, rough," juyeong sighed. "good luck, hon."
"thanks..." hana said. "so... what about you and myungsoo?"
"how do you know about that?" juyeong gasped. "that was like, two years ago!"
"krystal-unnie told me," hana said, smiling mischeviously. "we were in the heirs together, remember? she heard it from jongin."
"that mothering..." juyeong growled. "i'm gonna kill him."
"unnie, you didn't answer the question," hana said. "what happened?"
"... it didn't work out." juyeong sighed as a coordi-noona fixed her hair. "we started dating a couple months into our debut, but woollim found out after our disbandment, and they didn't want any bad publicity so... they forced us to break up. i haven't even seen him since 2013."
"oh... i'm so sorry, unnie..." hana said, patting juyeong's knee.
"it was so stupid, too, we hid it from everyone so well while we were promoting, and the group disbands so we decide to go out for once and... some fan takes a picture. and next thing you know, woollim is forcing us to break up, and i pretty much never see him again."
"mmm, i didn't even know..." hana said. "and i guess... nobody else knew either."
that last statement was about me, i knew it, and for good reason - back then, i would've killed them for dating. it was against company policy, we were supposed to be focused on debut, and we all had made a pact that we wouldn't let anything stand in the way of our dream.
sure, maybe i was being hypocritical. but they shouldn't have broken the goddamn rules.
i wonder what else they hid from me...

"unnie, your phone," hana said, grabbing the device as she exited. "i think you have a new text message?"
