Friday- Things have been progressing very nicely between them since Nichkhun dropped Victoria off at home. They have gotten closer and had become friendlier towards each other. The conversations seemed to go on a little longer each day. The stealing glances of each other increased each day, as well as the smiles that seemed to be brighter and wider for the both of them.

The weather was cooler that day, with light wind blowing and lots of clouds in the sky. Victoria decided to let the kids go outside and play in the school yard. Both of them were sitting under the tree watching over the children play. Nichkhun was sitting on the grass with his legs stretched out and resting his back against a wooden bench that Victoria was sitting on. Nichkhun placed his right elbow on the wooden bench and accidentally brushed against Victoria’s left leg. He turned and looked up at her, she looked at him and they both smiled. A little smile appeared on Nichkhun’s face, a peaceful content kind of smile. The kind of smile that you have when you realize that at that moment you’re at peace, that you’re content with where you are in life. Her smile gave him that feeling.

“Thank you” Nichkhun suddenly said to Victoria while still looking at the children play

“For what?” Victoria asked back in a calm voice

“For making this moment special….for sitting next to me right now….and for being you” Nichkhun said in a calm and peaceful voice

It was a small and short exchange between two people, but it was significant. A little bond between them is formed. This was“their” moment together, the moment that they only shared with one another and no one else. It was a sweet moment that could have lasted longer…….. until a little boy name Taehyung  who was playing on the swing and laughing out loud excitedly that he was swinging higher and higher came flying off and landed on the ground face down in a loud thud. He immediately put his hand on his head and began to cry out in pain when Victoria and Nichkhun rushed over to him. Victoria gasped at the sight of blood. Taehyung had a very nasty cut on his forehead which was bleeding heavily. Victoria immediately scooped him up in her arms and turned to Nichkhun

“Can you please take the children inside and keep them calm until I get back? I need to take him to the hospital immediately”

“Of course, just go I’ll take care of the children here. Go”

“Thanks Khun”

Victoria ran out with Taehyung in her arms. The school’s driver had driven Victoria and Taehyung to Seoul Medical Center’s emergency room.

“What happened to him?” The ER doctor asked

“He fell off the swing really hard doctor. Please take good care of him” Victoria pleaded

“Don’t worry about him miss” The doctor said and rushed to care for young Taehyung.

While waiting for the doctor to treat Taehyung Victoria couldn’t help but thought about the moment she had just shared with Nichkhun. It wasn’t the heart skipping beats kind of moments like when he looked into her eyes and asked her to call him Khun; it was a different kind of moment that she’ll never forget. It was unlike anything she had experienced before with other guys. She had only had that kind of experience with her best friends, when they realized that they don’t need to say anything to each other but only feel each other’s presence and be happy. She was now sharing that kind of moment with Nichkhun as well.

After 30 minutes the doctor came out to meet Victoria who was waiting outside the emergency room anxiously to give her the prognosis.

“He suffered a laceration on his scalp and forehead and he also lost his two front teeth. I’ve cleaned, disinfected and sutured the wound  already, but I’d also want a pediatrician to examine him a little bit more. I’ve already paged Dr. Shim Changmin who will be here shortly”

Dr. Shim Changmin walked into the emergency room wearing a long white gown over a white and blue pinstripe shirt and black trousers, looking more like a model than a doctor.

“I’m here Dr. Lee, where is the little boy?” Changmin asked

“He’s inside, let’s go and see him shall we?” and with that both doctors went inside to examine Taehyung’s condition again. After a few minutes Changmin came out to see Victoria and said

“He’s experiencing a little bit of dizziness that is probably caused by the trauma of the fall. From the initial diagnosis I do not believe that Taehyung had suffered any serious brain damage, but because it is an injury to the head I would like to order a CT scan just to make sure that there aren’t any swellings or bleeding in the brain. I believe that it would be best to keep him here for the time being until all the tests are clear. Please do not worry ma’am I can guarantee that your little boy will be alright” Changmin started explaining the procedures to Victoria

“I also think it would be wise for him to stay here for the time being as well. However, you would have to talk to his mother about that matter. I am his kindergarten teacher” Victoria said with a smile

“Oh you’re not his mother! I am very sorry miss…miss…” Changmin began to stutter out of embarrassment

“Song……my name is Victoria Song” Victoria answered and chuckled at the sight of the handsome doctor looking embarrassed

Changmin POV

“Great Changmin! You’ve just made a fool of yourself in front of a beautiful woman. Way to make a first impression!”

“I’m really sorry Miss Song, please accept my apology” Changmin said and bowed to Victoria

“Don’t worry about it doctor” Victoria said with a bright smile on her face. Little did she know that her bright smiles are making an effect on the young doctor. The more she smiles the more stuttered he became.

“Sorry. I mean what was I thinking right? I mean how could you be a mother? No, I mean of course you could be a mother, not that I’m saying that you can’t..…I mean…….I’m not making any sense…sorry again”

Vic POV

“This guy is kind of funny, kekeke”

At that moment the boy’s mother walked into the emergency room and went straight to Victoria. Changmin introduced himself to the mother then took her in to see her boy. After a few minutes they both came out and Taehyung’s mother gratefully bowed and thanked Victoria for saving her child, while Victoria bowed back and apologized for not taking better care of him. Taehyung was being wheeled out on a gurney to be transferred to the hospital room. Victoria smiled and the boy’s face and told him to get well soon and that she will miss seeing him in class

Changmin watched all the exchange unfold and a little smile appeared on his face. He could see that Victoria cared deeply about the boy. Being a pediatrician Changmin had seen a lot of cases of students rushed to the hospital from all kinds of accidents. He had also witnessed numerous times where the teacher would scold the kid for not being careful when they play and for getting themselves hurt. The way Victoria sitting anxiously waiting for Taehyung in the ER, how she completely ignored the fact that her dress is now smeared with Taehyung’s blood and the way she comforted the boy warmed his heart.

When Taehyung was wheeled off, Changmin went over to Victoria to apologized again for the misunderstanding earlier.

“I am sorry about the misunderstanding earlier Miss Song.” He said while bowing slightly at Victoria

“It’s ok doctor. Thank you very much for everything you have done for Taehyung” Victoria said and bowed back at him

“I should get back to the school now, the children will be worried about their friend. Goodbye doctor” Victoria said and bowed again

She walked out of the hospital to find the school’s driver waiting at the parking lot. She told him to head back to the school. However, when the driver turned the key to start the engine, the car won’t start. After a few failed attempts to start the car, the driver had to give up. He turned to Victoria

“I am sorry Miss Song. The car won’t start. I’ll have to call for the towing service and it will take a while for them to get here”

Victoria began to worry about the children at school and also worry about whether Nichkhun could handle the kids while she was gone. At that moment Changmin appeared

“You seemed to have a car trouble. I am done with my shift today I can give you a lift to the school if you want Miss Song” He offered

“Oh no I couldn’t bother you that much doctor” Victoria politely declined his offer

“Really it would be no trouble at all. Besides it will take forever for the towing car to get here. Please I insist” Changmin said with a warm smile

After a few minutes of contemplation Victoria agreed and accepted his offer since she really had to get back to school as soon as possible.

On the way to the school

“Thank you very much doctor. I know you must be tired from work” Victoria said

“Call me Changmin please Miss Song. And no it’s no trouble at all” Changmin replied and smile sweetly

“Ok Changmin-sshi and please call me Victoria”

“Alright Victoria-sshi. You seem to be a really good teacher, I can tell that you care deeply about Taehyung”

“Thank you Changmin-sshi. I tried to be the best teacher I can be for my students, but apparently I’m not doing such a good job seeing that Taehyung got hurt today” Victoria said sounded sad

“Please don’t be too hard on yourself Victoria-shhi. Kids get hurt all the time” Changmin tried to comfort her

“I know it’s normal for kids to get bumps and bruises, but it hurt me to see one of my kids cry that’s all” Victoria answered

A little smile crept on Changmin’s face. Changmin could feel that she was honest in her answer. He could tell that Victoria loved her student very much. He could also tell from what she said that she felt guilty about Taehyung getting hurt so to make her feel better he tried changing the subject of the conversation

“Do you know that there’s a trick to get the blood stain out of your dress?” Changmin said with a little smile on his face

“Really? I thought this dress is ruined” Victoria asked looking down at her own dress

“Yes, the trick is Aspirin!!!” Changmin said with a bright smile

“Huh? Aspirin?? The drug??” Victoria said with a confused smile

“Yes, Aspirin has blood thinning qualities. It prevents blood cells from clumping together. I learned this trick back in medical school. What you need to do is dissolve 10 or 20 pills of aspirin in a basin and soak your dress in it for a while. Aspirin in the water will react to the blood stain on your dress and will slowly remove it. Try it, it should work” Changmin said with a bright smile on his face

“Oh thank you Changmin-sshi! Yes I will definitely try that” Victoria said with her eyes shining brightly

When they reach the school, Nichkhun noticed a dark blue BMW 5 series pulled into the school’s parking lot and saw Victoria got out of the passenger side of the car. He then noticed a man stepped out of the driver side and walked over to Victoria and they began to talk.

Khun POV

“Hummm she left the school in an old Hyudai and came back in a brand new BMW. What had she been doing in the past 2 hours? And who is that guy? And what are they talking about? And why does she look happy? Is she happy? She looked happy…..aishh this is annoying! ”

“Thank you very much again Changmin-sshi for dropping me off and for taking care of Taehyung” Victoria said gratefully

“No problem at all Victoria-sshi. Listen I was thinking that maybe we could exchange number so that I can give you an update on Taehyung’s condition and just in case something happen to your students you may need some medical advice” Changmin said looking innocently

Thinking for a while, Victoria agreed that it wasn’t a bad idea to have his number just in case something happen to her kids again.

“Yes I think that’s a good idea Changmin-sshi” Victoria said and told him her mobile number while Changmin recorded her number onto his mobile phone and then press call

“And here’s my number Victoria-sshi. Well I’m off now, have a nice day” Changmin said with a smile and a little bow

“You too Changmin-sshi” Victoria said and bowed back

Nichkhun had seen the whole exchange unfolded and he wasn’t quite sure how to describe his feeling. It wasn’t anger, he didn’t think it was jealousy either, but it definitely was an uneasy feeling for sure.

When Victoria walked into the classroom she felt relieved because all of the children were sound asleep, Nichkhun couldn’t help but glared at her, trying to gauge her emotion. She looked too happy he thought. This made Nichkhun a little annoyed, but he had to play it cool now because he wanted to find out about the whole exchanging of mobile number.

“So how was Taehyung? Is he going to be alright?” Nichkhun asked

“Oh yes Taehyung will be alright. The doctor would like to keep him there for observation though” Victoria said with a little smile

“Oh I see……so….who was that that dropped you off there?” Nichkhun asked trying to be uninterested

“Oh that was the doctor who treated Taehyung at the hospital. The school car broke down and he was kind enough to give me a ride” Victoria smile brightly while answering Nichkhun’s question, which kind of annoyed him a little bit.

“Oh I see…..and what were you guys doing with the mobile phones anyway? I just happened to see it…I mean I wasn’t really like paying much attention or anything. I just happened to look up at that moment…….I mean it’s not important, actually you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to” Nichkhun just rambling on and on about the phone, which Victoria found it to be completely funny and cute.

Khun POV

“Oh my god!!! Somebody please shut my mouth already!! What the hell am I yapping on and on for???”

Vic POV

“Kekeke he’s nervous....how cute”

“Oh well ok…since you don’t really want to know the answer to that question then I won’t tell you then” Victoria tilted her head sideway and looked at him with a teasing smile

“Oh ok. I didn’t really want to know anyway” Nichkhun bluff

Victoria immediately pouted and suddenly turned her back to him. Nichkhun just smiled and suddenly grabbed her arm, leaned in and whispered in her ear.

“I’m kidding…of course I want to know, can’t you tell? Please tell me everything” Nichkhun said sweetly

Victoria’s face just turned completely red and her heart literally skipped a beat at his sweet gesture. She turned around and said while looking down at the floor

“He just thought that it would be a good idea if I have his number just in case the kids got hurt again that’s all” Victoria said shyly

Nichkhun smiled and lower his head down so that he was now looking up at Victoria’s burning red face

“Thank you for telling me” He smile his sweetest smile at her.

By the way, the aspirin trick really does work ^^
