It had already been 2 and a half months after the gang had exposed Gyuri’s secret. During the last two and a half months Nichkhun and Victoria had been nothing but supportive of Gyuri during her subsequent rounds of cancer treatments. Victoria and Gyuri had become friends during that time and Gyuri was very appreciative and grateful for everything that Victoria had done for her. Gyuri realized why Nichkhun fell in love with Victoria, not only because she was absolutely beautiful on the outside, but her heart was even more beautiful than her looks.

This round of cancer treatments was not too kind to Gyuri as it did the first time around. After undergoing the treatment for almost two months Gyuri had finally succumbed to the disease and passed away peacefully with Nichkhun and Victoria by her side. Victoria had kept her promised to Gyuri until the end and Gyuri was able to pass on with someone who genuinely cared for her by her side. 

Another incident that happened during the past two and a half months was the fact that Nichkhun’s relationship with Victoria was exposed. Thanks to the sweet kissed that they shared at the restaurant. The pictures of them kissing were uploaded onto the internet within minutes. The next few days after the incident at Gyuri’s house were nothing short of catastrophe. The public and most especially Nichkhun’s fans became outraged at the fact that Nichkhun was already in a committed relationship. They demanded explanations from Nichkhun and argued that they had the right to know the identity of the girl he was dating. Nichkhun’s management agency received enormous phone calls, emails and even flocks of reporters camping out in front of the agency for days trying to get a glimpse of Nichkhun.

It was utterly ridiculous for Nichkhun to witness. The public outcry of feeling betrayed and hurt as if he had done something so terrible, so wrong was beyond anything that Nichkhun could comprehend. At first Nichkhun thought that it was best if he were to stay quiet and just issued a statement through the agency confirming the fact that he was already in a committed relationship and be done with that.

However, the amount of interests that the public had on his personal life was far more extensive than to accept a company issued statement. At first the agency wanted Nichkhun to apologize to the public for behaving recklessly in public, they wanted him to say that although he was in a committed relationship he still shouldn’t have acted on impulse and kissed her in front of everyone. Nichkhun was forced to hold a press conference 3 weeks after the news broke.

Flashback at the press conference

Nichkhun’s press conference was held at the function hall at The Shilla Seoul Hotel. There were almost a hundred reporters showed up for the press conference. They were all eager to get the news and asked questions about his personal life seeing that it had always been extremely difficult for them to get any personal details out of Nichkhun in the past. There all gathered in front of the hall before the scheduled time talking among themselves. Some were happy to see the demise of Nichkhun, some were happy that he finally opening up about his life to the public, some predicted that it was the end of Nichkhun’s professional life

When it was time the door to the hall opened and reporters rushed inside to take their seats and put out recorders and their laptops ready to dictate and record the event.

Nichkhun walked out wearing a white shirt and a crisp black suit looking handsome and confident. As soon as he walked out the camera flashes went off like pouring rain. Every reporter and photographers seemed intent on capturing as many shots of Nichkhun as possible. Nichkhun walked over the desk in the middle of the stage and bowed to the reporters and sat down next to his manager and began his press conference with an opening statement.

“First of all, thank you very much for being here tonight. I am sorry to have caused such a disturbance to everyone. Please accept my sincere apology” said Nichkhun and bowed his head

“The reason why I’ve arranged for this press conference was due to the fact that there have been speculations of me being in a relationship and there were numerous pictures of me kissing a woman going around the internet for the past 3 weeks…..I am here to clarify…..and confirm that indeed that it was me and my girlfriend in those pictures” said Nichkhun calmly and confidently while looking straight into the sea of reporters whose jaws dropped immediately and began taking pictures feverishly and started shouting questions after questions at Nichkhun

“How long have you two been together? When were you planning on telling the public?”

“Where did you two meet?”

“Who is your girlfriend? What is her name?”

“Is it true that you’re already engaged to be married?”

“There was some rumors a while back that you went to a hospital with a woman, was it your girlfriend? And is she pregnant?”

Nichkhun’s manager had to ask everyone to quiet down in order for Nichkhun to proceed with the press conference statement and that Nichkhun will be taking a few questions afterward

“Please hold your questions at this time. We will give you an opportunity to ask questions later” said Nichkhun’s manager

After the press had quiet down Nichkhun proceeded on with the statement

“Although my actions may seem reckless and irresponsible, but I would be lying if I say that I regret it….I believe that “I” Nichkhun Horvejkul am just a man, just like any other human beings who wants to fall in love and find someone who truly loves me……and I have found her….and she’s the best thing that I could ever asked for…..and therefore, I could never insult the love that we have for each other by lying to you that she meant nothing to me just to save my popularity. Therefore, I am here to tell the truth and the truth is I am in love with the perfect woman for me and I cannot imagine my life without her…..she made me so happy in a way that I’ve never experience before…..I can only hope that my fans and the public would be happy for me”

After the statement Nichkhun’s manager motion for the reporters to ask their questions and they immediately jumped at the chance. They all raised their hands hoping to be picked. Nichkhun pointed his finger to one of the male reporter in the front row

“Who is your girlfriend? Can you reveal her identity to the public? I’m sure many people are curious to know who’s the lucky lady who stole your heart” asked the reporter

“I’m sure the public is curious and would like to know who she is, but I am not going to reveal her identity here since she’s not a celebrity and I don’t think I have the right to invade her privacy just because she’s dating one…..and for the record she didn’t steal my heart…..I gladly gave my heart to her” said Nichkhun then pointed to another reporter who was a female

“Are you engaged to be married soon?” asked the reporter

“No, I am not engaged” said Nichkhun

“But before you said that you cannot imagine your life without her so does that mean that you’re thinking of marriage in the future?” asked the same reporter

“I’ll tell you this….right now I am not engaged and we have never talked about marriage yet, but for me I never want to spend the rest of my life with anyone else but her” said Nichkhun smiling warmly at the thought of spending the rest of his days with Victoria

His answer drew lots of ohhhs and ahhhs from the reporters who were shocked to see him so open about his feelings toward Victoria. They’ve never seen this side of Nichkhun before and the fact that he was being completely honest and frank about how he felt was more than telling to everyone that Nichkhun was totally and completely in love and that he wasn’t afraid to show it, to let the whole world know that either.

At that point Nichkhun’s manager abruptly announced that the next question will be the last one. Nichkhun chose an older male reporter who asked

“What do you think will happen to you and your career now that the scandal had broken out? Do you think that the public will be able to forgive you? And aren’t you afraid that you would lose the endorsement deals that you have with this news?” asked the male reporter

“To be honest I don’t know what’s going to happen to me…..I have no control over what the public will decide, but whatever happen I’ll have to live with it…..all I can say is that I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong to anyone….after all I just fell in love…..it’s something that happen every day and can happen to anyone and I am no exception…..and I can’t apologize for it…..I can’t apologize for falling in love” said Nichkhun confidently

“And that was the last question…Thank you everyone for coming tonight….as for Nichkhun’s future plan in the entertainment industry…..the agency will carefully review all possibilities and will issue a statement regarding the matter later” said Nichkhun’s manager  

End of flashback

In the subsequent days and weeks that followed after the press conference the public’s reactions to the news were explosive. People took to various social media outlets to vent out their opinions on the issue. Some were supportive of Nichkhun and some were not so kind. Some went to the extreme and called Nichkhun a liar and called him ungrateful to the dedication and love that they had shown him. Some mourned and cried while some rejoiced that their favorite actor had finally found someone that made him happy. Additionally, Nichkhun was pulled out of a few endorsement deals as well. Those companies state the reasons for pulling out their deals as Nichkhun being an “unfit” person who did not possess the kind of characters that represent their products.

Nichkhun watched all that unfolded with nothing but amusement. He didn’t care about the millions that he lost or the tarnished reputation and popularity. He was glad to know, saw and experienced firsthand how unstable “popularity” can be. He was also glad that he had Victoria and his friends by his side. They often made fun of Nichkhun’s downfall and laugh it off as nothing but a silly dream that would pass one day. None of them were scared of hurting Nichkhun’s feelings because they all knew that he too was amused at how easily all of it could crumbled and fall just like a sand castle that got washed away by the sea.

It was a quiet time for Nichkhun. He didn’t have as many schedules as before and besides the drama he was pretty much free most of the time. Nichkhun was glad because it meant he would have more free time to spend with Victoria. One day after the shoot Nichkhun went to pick up Victoria at school only to find out that Taehyung’s mother would be picking him up late again and thus Victoria would have to stay behind and wait for her.

It was already 2:30 PM. The school was already deserted as the other children and teachers had already left. Only Victoria, Nichkhun and Taehyung were left on the school ground. Victoria and Nichkhun were sitting on the wooden bench under the tree on the school yard overlooking Taehyung who was running around enjoying his free time.

“It’s been a while that we have the chance to sit together watching Taehyung play right?” asked Victoria smiling her lovely smile looking at Taehyung

“Yes, it’s been a while….and I missed those time….I missed the time that I can come here and be with you and spend time with you in class” said Nichkhun in a dreamlike tone while reminiscing about the past

Victoria turned and faced Nichkhun and said

“Tell me honestly Khun….Do you have any regrets that the news about us broke out?...Honestly….It’s ok if you do too” said Victoria looking straight into his eyes

“No, I don’t….I don’t have any regrets at all” said Nichkhun in all honestly while looking at Victoria

“But…..I can’t help but feel a little bad about it….You’ve lost so much Khun” said Victoria

Nichkhun wrapped his arm around Victoria’s shoulder and let her rested her head on his shoulder and said

“Don’t feel bad about it honey….I don’t care about the things that I’ve lost…..It doesn’t matter how much money I’ve lost or how unpopular I am right now….none of that matters to me because I’ve learned something far more precious than money and fame could ever give me” said Nichkhun in a sweet gentle voice

“What did you learn?” asked Victoria

“I’ve learned that loving you meant so much more to me than all the money in the world….I’ve learned that fame is an illusion that could be gone in the blink of an eye…..but most importantly I’ve learned that my eyes can see only you….these arms of mine are meant to hug you and only you….these hands of mine are meant to hold yours and only yours….and these lips of mine are meant to kiss yours and yours forever” said Nichkhun and bent down and kissed Victoria

It was the sweetest kiss both had ever shared.

When they broke apart from the kiss Victoria looked up and said

“Me too Khun…..I am yours and yours always” said Victoria and rested her head on his shoulder again as they both sat there looking over as young Taehuyng enjoyed himself on the swing.
