— TEASER #2 —
Yunmi and Mieun walked side by side along the pathway. Every few seconds or so, Mieun would turn to her daughter and appear to almost ask a question but those questions never came. Soon, Yunmi couldn't hold back any more.
"What is it mum?" she asked.
"Hmm? Oh it's nothing. We've reached the shop. Go buy everything that you'll need," her mum replied.
Yunmi did as she was told and stepped into the extravagent looking shop while Mieun waited outside. The door triggered a tinkling bell that signalled someone entering or leaving the shop. Thise was the place where all the slayers and vampires were to buy the supplies needed to start at their new school. Looking around, Yunmi noticed how new everything was. Nothing seemed to even have a speck of dust on it. Obviously, she thought to herself. This shop was only made a couple of weeks ago for the new law.
"Need any help, miss?" a voice suddenly asked. Whirling around, Yunmi was startled to see no-one behind her. But when someone tugged on her shirt, she looked down and noticed a short, elderly woman.
"Ah... the first slayer to ever enter this shop. Please, look around. Don't let the vampires frighten you. They can smell your blood pumping around your body," the woman said. "It's best if you stay calm."
Yunmi grinned in reply. "Was I really the first? Cool! And don't worry about me. I'm not frightened. If a vampire tries to attack, I'll get to them first. They can't anyway, can they? The new law states that we have to live in harmony so that our future generations can succeed us with a reduced possibility of one race killing out another."
"Correct," the elderly woman said with a smile playing on her lips. She was about to say more but the tinkling bell snapped her attention away. "If you need anything, call out to me. I'll be seeing to another customer."
As soon as she stepped away, Yunmi went back to looking around. She pulled a piece of paper out of her pocket which had listed all the items that she needed to get. Mumbling to herself, she took a step back to find the first item on her list. A history book on vampires. Instantly, she felt her back hit someone. A solid someone.
"I'm so sorry-" she began to say but that someone cut her off.
"Ew. How disgusting. A slayer?" it was a male vampire.
"Excuse me?" Yunmi asked. "You're a bit rude, aren't you?"
"Nope. I'm just stating simple facts. I can't believe that I have to learn to put up with people like you. Ergh. Why did I even get this life?"
Just as Yunmi was about to reply back, a female hand pulled her back roughly. "Ignore him," she told Yunmi. As the girl turned back to face the vampire, a snarl appeared on her face. "You better forget that you ever insulted a slayer or rules will be broken."
The vampire gave her a look of disgust before flouncing off. "Are you okay?" the girl asked Yunmi.
"I'm fine. Thanks, by the way," she gave a smile full of gratitude. "It seems like you face this kind of trouble often. That, or you help others like me often."
Giving Yunmi a lopsided smile, the girl shrugged. "It's what I do best. I'm Hyerin. That vampire's name was Seokhyun, by the way. He's known in this area for giving people, mostly slayers, a hard time. He can do it more freely now since the rule has been established."
"Haha, is that so? My name's Yunmi."
A loud voice interrupted the two girls' conversation. "Minseok!" It called out. Two voices replied. One female and one male.
"Yes?" They both said.
The owner of the first voice peeked their head out of the aisle they were in and a confused look was evident on her face. "Can you come here for a sec? I'm in aisle five where the slayer books are."
A boy and a girl made their way towards aisle five. The boy walked normally but the girl was slightly confused. Instantly, upon seeing the pair of them, the first girl asked the second girl, "Who are you?"
"Minseok..." She replied.
"But I'm Minseok," the boy said.
"You're both Minseoks?" The first girl asked.
"I'm confused," Seokhyun's voice rang loud and clear throughout the whole shop.
"What is it mum?" she asked.
