RANT #2 - sweetsonata
r i g h t i n t h e f e e l s • a writing contest >> that's closed, but a new one's linked in Chapter 80!! :)RANT #2 HELLO sweetsonata =)
I really enjoyed this entry.
To be hoenst, I've read so many plots under Romance that a twist capable of surprising me would be highly unlikely, but I still enjoy reading the genre. It's like a weird mutual sort of thing but I feel like I'm loyal to romantic stories. Thus, I knew I'd like The Completed Chapter as soon as I read the Foreword.
What I love the most about The Completed Chapteris how you set the perspective in the future, and how you link each section of the one-shot with the massive quote displayed in the Foreword. It's like a small piece of paper at the beginning, and as the story progresses, the paper unfolds into a new shape, and then at the end we have a beautiful blank piece of paper. . . creased & pure and like LMAO I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO END THIS SENTENCE SO I'M JUST GONNA STOP HERE. C:
The manner of describing the past in the future tense I found extremely interesting, and I'd like to applaud you for succeeding with this for The Completed Chapter is such an amazing read *CLAP CLAP CLAP WOOT WOOT*
Thank you so much for entering The Completed Chapter :).
'TWAS IMMENSELY beautiful :')
THE CHANCE OF WINNING
I had six fanfictions with a red tick next to it, meaning that those six entries were challenging each other for the top three places. The Completed Chapter was one of them.
You'd notice that none of my top three are one-shots. This isn't because I dislike one-shots, or having anything against them, it's more of the chance of the content of a one-shot competing with the content of a chaptered story. I'm not saying that it's impossible for a one-shot to beat a chaptered fic, it's just sensibly unlikely.
But here is a more in-depth reason. Like I have emphasised above, writing everything from the future really caught my attention, but if you take that aspect away, what's left of The Completed Chapter, is a love tragedy that ends up with a break up. I'm not one to attack a story because of its originality, but I'll admit it is quite a flat storyline.
So to sum it up, if I were to push The Completed Chapter into my top three, the only valid reason why it had won, would be simply because I was intrigued by the approach of which it is written in. And that wouldn't be a strong enough reason to overtake the other five entries.
