The concert is coming to a close.

Amber is breathless from his performances, but the crowd’s energy is still far from dying down. Jung Soojung is only a few meters away, but she wasn’t close enough to hold Amber’s hand whenever he draws near and extends it.

She was feeling rather annoyed. She is close enough to see him, but she also wanted to touch him so bad that she felt extremely upset when she can’t push through the tightly knitted barricade of die-hard fans before her.

But then a glorious moment occurred. Amber saw her pouting face, now as he is shaking hands with a girl right in front.

“AMBER LIU I LOVE YOU!” The girl whose hand he’s now holding yelled.

But his eyes stayed on the lady in red whose brows were tightly knitted and whose lips were jutted out.  She looked extremely cute but exceptionally hot that it had his sight on a lockdown. It took a few seconds for the girl to realize that Amber is looking curiously at her.

The moment she did, Amber gave the pouting lady his signature killer smile. Their eyes held each other’s for a few seconds before Amber turned around and glided to where he’s supposed to be as the song ended.

Soojung almost died.

She wasn’t able to return the smile. She was frowning while the idol’s smile burned through her. It was far from the scenes she had imagined. Their first eye to eye and Amber might have thought she’s mean. But the thought was pushed behind her head as the crowd went quiet. The music had stopped and Amber is now standing at the center of the stage, evidently about to say something.

“Tonight I have a surprise for one lucky fan.” Amber beamed. A dancer approached, bringing a big glass globe containing thousands of tiny strips of folded paper inside.

“This holds the names of all the ladies who came tonight. I’m going to pick one and whoever it is, if she permits me, will, from the time I end this concert until the sun sets a week from now, be my girlfriend.”

The throng of women burst in a howl of surprised excitement.

Amber Liu is known to be a single and highly desired. He had many female idols and actresses wooing him, but he had never shown interest to any.

The press is quite infuriated that he doesn’t have any scandals yet. They were already riled at the fact that they couldn’t gather much about the idol’s pre-debut life. A time came even when one media writer deduced that he might be gay, or might even be a girl for all they know, but the public quickly dismissed the idea as ridiculous.

Kwon Yuri thought this will be a great idea. Since Amber doesn’t want anyone from the entertainment industry for him to be caught in a fling with, and it wasn’t easy to hire a no-strings-attached pretend girlfriend, the manager chose the easy and fast option.

There won’t be any commitment, but it will showcase Amber’s romantic capabilities.

He will end up even more desirable, if everything goes exactly as planned.

More publicity, more projects. Plus, it may lessen, if not totally eliminate, all gay and 'being-a-girl' controversies.

Pick a female fan, whoever she is, and give her the week of her life with the ideal Amber Liu as her boyfriend, and everything will fall into place. They have already gone through everything to make this absolutely perfect.

Amber’s hands went inside the glass globe as hundreds of flashing lights captured every move. He silently prayed inside. 'Please just be that lady in red, please. She looked like someone who isn't interested in me. She would turn me down and I will make an excuse not to pick a name again.'

The dome went still as his hand shot up from inside. His eyes fell to the piece of paper on his hand and he swept one lingering look at the anticipating crowd before uttering the name loud and clear.

“Jung Soojung.”

The girl in the figure-hugging red dress fainted.
