It was a beautiful morning at KST University. A blonde girl was getting her books that she needed for her class when her friends spotted her. 

“Hey Taeng!” Yuri approached her friend with Sunny and Seohyun following her

“What’s up guys!” Taeyeon greeted

“Say, Taeng. I guess you’re right. Tiffany does go here. I saw her before going to her class.” Yuri told the short girl

“I told you so.”

“Maybe some sort of scholarship cause she works part-time after class.” Yuri added

“Tiffany who, Yuri?” Sunny joined the conversation

“I don’t know her last name. We just met her yesterday at the ice cream store. Why did you ask, Sunny?”

“Oh nothing. Maybe it’s someone I knew. Never mind though.” Sunny just shrugged

“She bugs the hell out of me, guys. Always getting on my nerves! Ugh!” Taeyeon said. Calling me a midget like she’s tall.

“Easy unnie. Don’t get stressed out so early in the morning.” The maknae spoke

“I can’t help it Seo. She called me a shorty. You know I can’t stand that word.” Taeyeon explained

“But you are a shorty, Taeyeon.” Sunny tried to hold in her laughter.

“Last time I checked you are in the same boat as me, Sunny.” The blonde retorted

“Ya!” Sunny could only utter those words because she knows it’s the truth

At lunch, four friends were sitting at their usual table when one phone rang.

*ring ring ring*

“Yeoboseyo?” It was Sunny’s phone

“Yah! Where have you been?! I’ve been worried sick you mushroom!!” She yelled at her phone

“My dad called me yesterday and said that you were not in the hotel anymore? Why’d you left without telling me?” Sunny added

“Your voice unnie. Everyone’s looking at us.” Seohyun told Sunny

“Okay! Let’s meet at the Genie Coffee Shop. I’ll be there in 10 minutes.”

Sunny turned to her three friends who were just looking at her as she was speaking to her phone.

“Who was that, Sunny bunny?” Asked Yuri

“Mianhae. I have to go. A friend needs my help.” Sunny apologized to them as she stood up and made her way out of the cafeteria.

Sunny arrived at Genie Coffee Shop to see her best friend waiting for her already. She immediately yelled once she came nearer. “Yah Tiffany! Where did you go?! All of your things were not at the hotel anymore!”

“I’m sorry, Sunny bunny! Forgive me. But I need to get out of there before my dad returns from California.” The mushroom explained

“Why? What is going on?”

“My dad sent his assistant, Mr. So, last week to tell me a horrible news!” 

“What is it? Tell me!” Sunny couldn’t take the hold up anymore

“My dad is setting me up in an arrange marriage! Can you believe that?”

“No way! Who is it going to be?” Sunny furthered

“I don’t know. Mr. So wouldn’t tell. He said it’s daddy’s order. And we are having dinner this coming Sunday with them after he arrives from L.A. Ugh! I can’t believe this!”

Sunny was listening attentively to her friends story while drinking her soy latte.

“I was saying, I’m sorta on a hide out. I wanna go out the country but daddy cut my credit cards after he found out I left the hotel with luggages. Probably knew I would run. So I’ve been working on this ice cream parlor called Ice Cream All The Way to at least pay for the room I’m staying in the mean while.” Tiffany explained

“Hey that’s our favorite ice cream place!” Sunny got sidetracked

“Then why didn’t you visit for the past week?” Tiffany asked

“Well I’ve been busy. I’m training at the company after school and sometimes during school so I have to skip class. Wait… so the men in black suits at the gate are your dad’s guards?”

“Well yeah. They’re guarding the University to bring me back before Sunday but luckily, I’ve been able to dodge them so far. They also don’t have any idea I am working.”

 “So you’re still going to school? Why didn’t you see me? I was at school too you know? For the most part that is.” Sunny sulked

“I don’t know, bunny. Maybe you’re just too blind ‘cause all you see is that tall girl, Sooyoung.” Tiffany teasingly said

‘Yah! That’s not true.” A noticeable blush can be seen in Sunny’s face

“Oh yeah? Tell that to a mirror red cheeks. Hahaha.”

“Yah stop! But on a serious note Tiff, running away won’t solve anything. If you don’t want to do this marriage then don’t! Tell him you don’t agree to this!” Sunny lectured to her friend

“I wish it’s that easy. You know my dad. He always gets his way. Period.” Tiffany sadly stated

Sunny could only sigh. She pities her friend for having to face this situation.

“But Tiff…” Before Sunny could reason out, Tiffany interrupted her. “Sunny just support me please. You know ever since we were children that I don’t like people controlling my life. It’s my life. I get to decide how to live it.”

“I didn’t even let him make me take business courses like you. Ever since we were young, music has always been my passion. And I thank God for making daddy agree with me. Although it took a lot of time before he came through.” Tiffany stated

Sunny gave an understanding smile to her best friend. “I understand, you mushroom. But you know, you can always call me for help okay? Don’t even hesitate one bit!” Sunny reached for her friends hand and patted it reassuringly. Tiffany returned it with a genuine smile plus her amazing ability, the eye smile,.

“I know I can always count on you, bunny. But I want to handle this situation on my own for the time being, arasseo?” Tiffany stood up and hugged her friend

“Are you going back, you mushroom? Do you still have class?”

“Yeah I do but I saw one of daddy’s guards on the way here so I won’t go back to school. I’ll just skip it.”

“Where are you going then?” Sunny asked her friend

“Somewhere. But not school. Haha.” Tiffany joked. “Go! Palli before your class starts.”

 A peaceful week flew by quickly and as the sun had set on a Sunday, one girl can’t stop fidgeting from her home lounge.

“Yah Taeyeon! Will you stop moving? You’re giving me a headache!” Yuri stayed at her friend’s apartment over the weekend to ease the tension her friend was feeling

“I can’t help it, kkab! I don’t know what to do!” Taeyeon was panicking as she was pacing back and forth

“Snap out of it!” Yuri couldn’t take it anymore. She shook her friends shoulder to shake the nervousness out. The blonde girl didn’t even protest. “So will you stay put now?” Taeyeon nodded as she slumped her body on the couch.

*Ding dong Ding dong*

“Oooh, that must be your ride! Straighten out that blouse before I open the door!” Yuri waited until Taeyeon gave her a nod to open the door.

An old looking man appear on the other side when the door was opened. “Good evening, Miss Taeyeon and Miss Yuri.” The man bowed politely

“Mr. Yoo!” Taeyeon shouted as she hugged the man. “I missed you.” Mr. Yoo is the Kim’s trusted butler. He and Taeyeon are close because he had been working for the Kim’s ever since she was in diaper. Whenever Taeyeon gets shy to play with the other kids, Mr. Yoo would always be there to be her playmate.

“So did I, miss Taeyeon and may I say you look ravishing tonight.” The blonde blushed a little and that made the old man chuckle. “Your father requested me to drive you to the restaurant where he is already at. So let’s get going, shall we?” Mr. Yoo raised his hand to be able to Taeyeon out the building and into the limousine without forgetting to say his farewell to the black pearl that was left at the house.

Mr. Yoo was the only one speaking through the whole ride while Taeyeon was on her own little world. An occasional nod or ‘hmm’  can be heard from the nervous girl to not come out as rude.

The car stopped meaning they have arrived. Mr. Yoo got out of the car and opened the door for Taeyeon. He extended his hands to help the girl out while Taeyeon took a deep breath.

“I’m nervous, Mr. Yoo.” Taeyeon finally uttered her first words after a while.

“I know you are, kid. Even I’m speechless when I heard the news. But do know that I’m here for you huh? I may only be your butler but I care for you, Taeyeon-ah.” Mr. Yoo heartfelt words made Taeyeon’s eyes water that she couldn’t help but hug him. “Thank you. You are not just a butler, Mr. Yoo. You are my friend. You are actually the few people I trust.”

“That means a lot, Taeyeon. Now go inside. Your father is waiting.” Mr. Yoo gave a final tap on Taeyeon’s back before the short girl went in.

Taeyeon got to the private room her father reserved and sat down beside him.

“Good evening, appa.” Taeyeon greeted rather coldly. Mr. Kim just shrugged and let his daughter be.

After a few minutes of waiting in silence a sound was heard.

“Hey! Let me go! Yah!! I said let me go! Are you deaf?! Get your hands off of me!”

The sound got louder and louder and before the Kim’s knew it, the door of the private room opened revealing a man with his two body guards restraining someone.

Mr. Kim stood up and welcomed the man who just arrived.

“Jin Young-ah, it’s been a long time my friend. How have you been?”

“Still the same, Dae Hyun-ah.” The man answered back. Taeyeon being the polite girl that she is, stood up and approached the two talking men.

“Ah! Hwang Jin Young. You remember my daughter, Kim Taeyeon.” Mr. Kim introduced her. Taeyeon bowed to show her respect.

“Pleasure meeting you, Mr. Hwang.” Taeyeon smiled and shook the man’s hand

“Yah! Appa! Tell your guards to let me down.” A shout interrupted the introduction with Mr. Hwang smiling in embarrassment.

“I apologize for my daughter’s behavior. Okay. Let her down.” Mr. Hwang ordered the two buffed guards

Because Mr. Hwang was blocking the one being restrained, Taeyeon couldn’t see her. Although the voice does seem familiar to her.

“Again, I apologize. Now, let me introduce my beautiful daughter. Miyoung-ah, come to my side for a bit.” Mr. Hwang talked to the girl at her back

“Dae Hyun-ah, Taeyeon. Meet my daughter.”

A red-haired girl appeared at Mr. Hwang’s side as she was fixing her dress due to the moving she did when she was being held captive. She didn’t notice that a certain blonde’s eyes were already looking at her, pure shock all over it.

As she made eye contact to her supposed fiancé, “You?!”, two voiced blended in unison.
