*** ______'s POV ***

I'd followed Jonghyun into the hospital, I wondered what he was looking for in a hospital, so I decided to find out for myself – maybe this would help me find the answers I was looking for. He asked about his Grandma and the receptionist gave him directions and a room number. He walked up the staircase and into the Intensive Care Unit.

I pulled up the hood of my jacket and walked past him - glancing into the room. Luckily, he was watching so intensely that he barely registered my presence as I slowly walked past him and rounded a corner into a small, dark corridor that probably led to some sort of storage area.

The room had been small with one bed inside where a girl a few years younger than him was holding an old woman's hand and talking quietly to her. He had looked at her longingly, protectively.

Ahhh .... So much more made sense now. Her. Him.

I waited for just over an hour until Jonghyun suddenly turned and ran towards me down the corridor so I backed away into the shade.

He collapsed on the ground, his face tense and panting - the stress was evident on his face. He seemed nervous and was obviously hiding … was he hiding from that girl ? Someone else ? A doctor, maybe ?

I walked out from the shadows ....

"You care about her a lot, don't you ..." I said.

*** Jonghyun's POV ***

"Yuri?!?!" She glared at me, into me, and terror filled my gut, I was caught, what was she going to do ? Would she tell everyone ? My father ? Mi ?

I stood, frozen to the spot, I couldn’t move, I didn’t quite know what to do as her eyes bore into mine, unable to break the eye contact.

Then a huge smile crept onto her face and she laughed out loud. She bent over and then gained her composure again and looked at me, beaming, obviously finding my horror hilarious. I was so confused and it must have shown on my face but her smile calmed me. It wasn’t a hysterical and scheming smile, it was genuine and made me feel at ease.

“What’s going on ? Aren’t you angry? Aren’t you opposed to the marriage ?” I asked her, still really puzzled as to what was happening. I thought that she wanted the marriage to happen.

“Don’t be ridiculous ! I don’t want to marry you as much as you don’t want to marry me – don’t be so full of yourself !” She chuckled then her face fell and her face saddened. “You see … I don’t want to marry, not to you anyway. I have … had … a boyfriend back in Goyang before my parents forced this on but I’m not going to give up quite yet” she held out her hand towards me “you’ll help right ?” I shook her hand after processing everything she told me. So Yuri has someone waiting for her ...

“Deal.” Our alliance, I could feel, could persuade our parents to call off this wedding.

“Agreed. That girl … you like her don’t you. Is she your girlfriend ?” She asked. I knew I’d have to be honest; she wasn’t going to give up and we needed each other if we were going to win our freedom.

“No … not yet …” I replied, sadly, while shuffling my feet.

“You had better not tell her yet … you don’t want to hurt her … does she know about the marriage ?” She was right. I didn’t want to hurt her but I didn’t know how much more I could take – how long I could suppress my feelings. My time was running out.

“I was planning on telling her tonight but the woman she is visiting, her Grandma, is being operated on in the morning and I’m not sure whether telling her is the best idea at the moment.”

“I understand … I’ll talk to my parents about the marriage …” I nodded and agreed to do the same. Although my father obviously wouldn’t take it well, I had to at least try; I wasn’t giving up on Mi that easily. She stood up to leave.

“Good Luck, Jonghyun” she smiled at me, the fact that someone was on my side gave me so much courage that I couldn’t thank her enough. We bid goodbye and I began to prepare for a long night at the hospital by heading off to the visitors waiting area; I couldn’t sit on the floor for the whole night – someone would surely find me. My phone began to ring.

“Brrrrppp …… brrrrrpppp” I looked at the caller ID ……. Mi …....

“Mi … What’s wrong ?” I asked worriedly .

“Is this Jonghyun ?” The voice over the phone wasn’t Mi.

“Yes … this is Jonghyun”

“It’s Jang Mi’s Grandma … could you possible come to the hospital, my boy.” We had spoken over the years a few times but I didn’t expect her to call me on Mi’s phone … I was probably the last person she called.

“Of course, I’ll just head out.”

“No need … you’re in the hospital, right ?” I was stunned into silence … she must have seen me … “Don’t worry, I won’t say anything to Jang Mi but I know what’s going on Jonghyun – you studying abroad, getting married and most definitely the way you look at each other.” I ended the call and headed back to the hospital room where her Grandma was sat, a sleeping Mi in the chair beside her bed.

As I carried her to the waiting area outside and rested her head on my lap, still deep in sleep. My mind began to wander to the phone conversation with her Grandma – how did she look at me ? Did she possibly … like me back ?

Sorry for not updating - I've been really busy with school ... as usual ... I'll try to update again because of the bank holiday, I will have some free time ^^
