Beep Beep Beep!!

Eunhyuk’s alarm clock rang in his ears.

“Why did I get a loud alarm? It’s so annoying!” Eunhyuk said scratching his head. 

“Hyuk, get up. You’ll be late for school,” Sora said.

“Did you cook breakfast?” Eunhyuk asked.

“Ne. Go wash up and come to the table.” Sora said flipping the eggs.

Eunhyuk slipped out of his comfy blanket and went to the bathroom. He washed his face and combed his hair. Then he dressed in his school uniform.

“Since I cooked breakfast today, you’ll cook for dinner.” Sora said.

“Hmm.” Eunhyuk said eating. 

“Bring Eunmi’s books. She might need it for school.” Sora said. “And tell her I said ‘Annyong’.”

“Yeah.” Eunhyuk said.

“Here’s your lunch.” Sora said handing Eunhyuk a lunch box. “Tomorrow, you’ll make our lunch boxes.”

“Komapta noona,” Eunhyuk said putting on his shoes. 

Eunhyuk and Sora take turns cooking and making food. So that it would be fair. Besides, Eunhyuk’s a pretty good cook.

Eunhyuk opened the door and found a note on the rug.

It says: Did you solve the problems? Good job! My tutoring is working! See? You’re not so lazy.

“What is this?” Eunhyuk said after reading the note. 

At the back it says: P.S. There are no ghosts in my apartment. I slept really nice. No arms grabbing my feet. :P

Eunhyuk smiled. “She actually made me do some work.”

Eunhyuk put the note in his pocket and knocked on Eunmi’s door.

The door slowly opened by itself.

“Tutor? You there?” Eunhyuk called. 

He  opened the door and peeked inside. The lights were all out.

“Looks like she left the door unlocked. Jeez. How can a genius forget that?” Eunhyuk said closing the door.

Suddenly a breeze of cold air surrounded his hand on the knob. 

Eunhyuk quickly took off his hand on the knob.

“This apartment is really haunted. How can she live in here?” Eunhyuk said walking to school.

“School is so boring! Why do I go here anyway?” Eunhyuk said walking under the shady trees.

He spots Eunmi sitting under a tree eating a banana. 

“Tutor!” Eunhyuk called. 

Eunmi looks his way and turns away.

“This girl is a little rude.” Eunhyuk said. 

Eunhyuk walked to Eunmi.

“Ya. Tutor. Here are your books.” Eunhyuk said handing her the books.

“They’re not mine.” Eunmi said.

“What do mean they’re not yours? You brought them with you yesterday." Eunhyuk said. 

“Yeah. I did. But they’re not mine.” Eunmi said taking a bite of her banana.

“Who’s are these then?” Eunhyuk asked.

“Yours.” Eunmi answered.

“Mine?” Eunhyuk asked. 

“Yours.” Eunmi repeated.

“Why do you have my books?” Eunhyuk asked.

“You always leave them in school so the principal told me to bring it to you,” Eunmi said.

“Ah. Right.” Eunhyuk said.

“Did you solve the problems?” Eunmi asked. 

“……” Eunhyuk didn’t say anything.

“…Did you find the note I left you?” Eunmi asked.

“Ne.” Eunhyuk said. “Oh and you left your door open.”

“I know.” Eunmi said. 

“Why? Someone could have stolen your things.” Eunhyuk said.

“Like you said last night, they’re ghosts there. So I don’t need to lock the door cause nobody will go near my apartment anyway. You should have seen the manager. He was shaking.” Eunmi smiled.

“You’re not scared?” Eunhyuk asked.

“Aniyo. They’re my friends.” Eunmi smiled. 

“You’re freaky you know.” Eunhyuk said.

“I know.” Eunmi said.

“You’re not gonna eat lunch?” Eunhyuk asked.

“I’m eating a banana. That’s my lunch. You wanna bite monkey?” Eunmi asked.

“Monkey?” Eunhyuk asked.

“Ne. Monkey. That’s your nickname.” Eunmi said.

“Monkey? Why monkey?” Eunhyuk asked.

“Cause you look like one. Those big ears of yours specially.” Eunmi said. 

“Just because you’re my tutor doesn’t mean you can give me nicknames.” Eunhyuk said. 

“Wae? It’s funny. And you look like Monkey D. Luffy from the anime One Piece.” Eunmi said.

“You watch animes?” Eunhyuk asked.

“Ne. Wae? Just because I’m smart doesn’t mean I can’t watch anime.” Eunmi said. 

“I’m gonna eat now.” Eunhyuk said walking away. 

“Go ahead,” Eunmi said.

“See you later,” Eunhyuk said.

“……Ne…” Eunmi said.

“Eunmi, you teaching Eunhyuk anything?” the principal asked. 

“Aniyo.” Eunmi said.

“Mwuh? Wae?” the principal asked. 

“He doesn’t need to learn anything. He already knows all the things that are taught in freshmen year. He’s been listening to the same lectures for 2 years now. He can solve the problems by himself. He just needs someone to trick him into doing them.” Eunmi said. 

“You're right….How is he doing?”

“He did his homework last night.” Eunmi said.

“That’s good.”

“I don’t know if he turned it in though. I didn’t tell him that it’s homework.” Eunmi said.

“Don’t. Keep doing what you’re doing. Just turn in the work for him every Friday.”

“Ne…..Did you erase my name from the school records?” Eunmi asked.

“Ah…Ne…I did. But why do you want all your information deleted?” 

“It’s none of your business. I will be going now.” Eunmi said walking away. 

“That girl could be so rude….” The principal said.

“Are you gonna use the same method yesterday?” Eunhyuk asked. “Cause I’m not falling for it.”

“I didn’t really trick you. You decided to do it yourself.” Eunmi said.

“Aish…What are we learning now?” Eunhyuk asked.

“Still math. We’re in geometry.” Eunmi said.

“We’re going to learn about shapes?” Eunhyuk asked.

“Ne. Nothing hard. You just have to tell me what these shapes are.” Eunmi said pointing to the book.

"......." Eunhyuk just stared at the shape.

"Mwuh? You don't know what shape this is?" Eunmi asked.

"......Triangle...." Eunhyuk said.

"Correct..Next one." Eunmi said.

"What are these?" Eunmi asked Eunhyuk.

"Quads," Eunhyuk said.

"Quads?" Eunmi asked.

"Quadrilaterals," Eunhyuk said.

"Correct...Next one." Eunmi said.

"Pentagon." Eunhyuk said.

"Next one." Eunmi said

"Hexagon." Eunhyuk said.

"Next one." Eunmi said.

"Ya, I'm not a kid. I know all these." Eunhyuk said.

"Really?" Eunmi said. 

"Yeah." Eunhyuk said.

"Is that so? What is this then?" Eunmi asked.

"Octagon." Eunhyuk said.

"Wrong. You didn't count the sides." Eunmi said.

"....1....2....3....4...5..6..7......." Eunhyuk counted out loud. "7 sides? There's no shape like that."

"What is this then?" Eunmi said pointing to the picture.

"What is it?" Eunhyuk asked.

"Why don't you tell me? You said you know all the shapes." Eunmi said.

"......." Eunhyuk looked away embarrassed.

"It's a heptagon. It has 7 sides. I'm guessing you know the next one." Eunmi said.

"Octagon..." Eunhyuk said.

"How about this one?" Eunmi asked.

1..2..3..4...5...6...7...8...9....9? What kind of shape is this? Eunhyuk thought.

"It's a nonagon. 9 sides. The next one." Eunmi said.

"This has 10 sides. It's a decagon. We're gonna have to learn about these shapes tomorrow too. Be sure to look at them before you sleep." Eunmi said.

"Whatever..." Eunhyuk said.

Sora came out of her bedroom in her nurse uniform. 

"The hospital called, they need more nurses at the emergency room. I'm sorry I can't join you guys for dinner today." Sora said. 

"It's okay." Eunmi said.

"Eunhyuk, cook dinner okay?" Sora said. "I won't be home until dawn. Eunmi, just eat here okay? Eunhyuk is an amazing cook." Sora said.

"Okay..." Eunmi said.

"I gotta go. They need me." Sora said putting on her shoes. "Annyong!" She waved goodbye. 

"Annyong.." Eunmi said.

"Well, I better start cooking..." Eunhyuk said heading to the kitchen.

"I should go home now.." Eunmi said.

"Wae? You don't wanna taste my cooking?" Eunhyuk asked. 

"It's not that..It's just..." Eunmi said. 

"Stay here. Noona will be mad at me if you leave." Eunhyuk said.

"Okay...I'll wait here.." Eunmi said sitting in the livng room.

"Okay." Eunhyuk went in the kitchen.

"......." Eunmi was quiet.

She looked around and saw many photographs of Sora and Eunhyuk.

Eunmi smiled while looking at these pictures.

They're so close......Eunmi thought about her brothers and sisters.

We don't even talk to each other.....she thought.

"Noona always liked to take pictures together." Eunhyuk said.

"I see...You guys are really close.." Eunmi said.

"Yeah..Sit down." Eunhyuk said.

Eunmi tasted what Euhyuk cooked.

"Wah..It's yummy!" Eunmi said smiling. 

"Komapta....Do you have brothers and sisters?" Eunhyuk asked.

"Mhmm...I have 3 older brothers, 2 older sisters, and one little sis." Eunmi said.

"Are you guys close?" Eunhyuk asked.

"Aniyo. We barely talk to each other....But my little sister and I talked.....until the incident happened...." Eunmi said. 

"Incident?" Eunhyuk asked.

"Ne.....My little sister and I used to talk to each other....But 3 years ago....She got sick....She couldn't talk anymore.....My parents brought her to America to be healed....1 year ago, they came back...But she wasn't with them...." Eunmi said with her head down.

"..........." Eunhyuk was quiet.

"A while ago...I said I have 3 brothers,  2 older sisters, and one little sister......But I'm wrong.............I had a little sister......" Eunmi said. Teardrops ran down her cheeks.

".......You know losing someone is really hard.....Losing more than one person is harder....But if you think about it......They're always in your heart.....No matter where you go...." Eunhyuk smiled with tears rolling down his cheeks.

Eunhyuk and Sora lost their parents when Sora was in high school. Their parents fought sickness for 6 months....But lost the battle....It was hard for Sora to work and go to school everyday. But they made it didn't they?
